With 8 tables of service, 5 of them had all their used plates sitting on the table. Lastly, I had to request 25% of the bowls/utensils to be exchanged bc they were dirty/had leftover food.

If you ever come with a big group of friends and family, order a catfish! It comes with the same previously mentioned herbs and vegetables and having a group of friends digging into a whole roasted catfish is such a life altering experience. The catfish varies in market price based on the weight of the fish, and depending on how big your group is, you might just be able to finish the whole thing! The kitchen cooks it to such a delectable tender doneness and they top it with fresh garnishes and fried onions, giving it a delicious aroma. General for celebratory reasons and it originated from the south as well. You can find many other Vietnamese cuisine out there, but unless you have a bigger Vietnamese population, this is a much more rare find. So when our friend from NY was visiting for Fanime, we had to get this. Though, I will say this to start with, nothing can ever beat my dear Thien An Bo 7 Mon from SoCal. I'm biased and I'm not afraid to say it, but I know that NorCal is lacking in many ways and with that in mind, it makes sense that the prices are higher (rent and costs of operation are much higher in NorCal, I'm sure) and the other differences as well. Regardless, the service was attentive and welcoming and they even chased my bf outside to his car when he foolishly left his card in the restaurant. There is a policy that the 7 course beef is 1 order per person and minimum 2 orders. I have not seen that in SoCal and they let us grossly share 1 order between 3 people, but things might have changed. With that in mind, 2 orders split between 3 people was more than enough. For drinks, my boyfriend got some local brewed IPA and when I sent my dad the picture (he's a Viet refugee), he immediately got triggered by the year that was on the can before I explained to him the origins that were on the label. I got a soda chanh muoi (salted lemon sparkling water and you pour the sparkling soda water from a cold can yourself into the mix in a glass). Refreshing and a sharp salty sour bite in between courses. The 7 course beef came as it would any other restaurant that does it: 1) Goi Bo (House Special Beef Salad) 2) Bo Nhung Dam (Beef in Wine Vinegar Fondue) -Not sure why it's translated this way but it's raw beef slices that have been seasoned in vinegar with some onions on top and you cook it in a hot pot broth. 3) Bo Cha Dum (Steamed Beef Patty) 4) Bo Cuon No Chai (Grilled Beef Sausages) 5) Bo Cuon La Lot (Beef wrapped in Lot leaf) -Easily the favorite of the table. You can never go wrong with leaf wrapped meats as you can see that it is a worldwide dish and phenomenon regardless of the protein and the vegetation used. -Savory and a bit smoky with a kick from the leaves. Good stuff. 6) Bo Nuong Xa (Beef roll with onion and lemon grass) 7) Chao Bo (Beef porridge) - the version I had in SoCal had cute beef alphabet and star pasta soup and I'm not the biggest fan of porridge so this was just okay to me. All the beef was seasoned well and moist, not too dry or tough. Definitely more than enough to share especially with the generous amount of rice paper and veggies to roll in. Again, just my qualm because I'll always compare every Viet 7 beef course with my OG in SoCal, but they had a vertical rice paper water rolling dish that made it easier to wet the rice paper without it getting soggy and without the water getting gross or the bowl taking up too much space. We additionally got vermicelli noodles to stuff our rolls too, which would have been nice to add a little bit of carbs into our meal, but if you're more into protein and veggies, this was good. Overall not bad and a must to try at least once.

The egg rolls were packed separately which made them quite tasty (note the egg rolls have shrimp in case anyone is allergic). If you haven't tried it, it's well worth a visit. I went to pick up food about 30 minutes before they closed their lunch service, and there was plenty of seating and no lines. Two people walked in for dine-in service at the same time, and they had no problem getting seated even though it was fairly near their midday closing time.

My mom ordered Avocado smash with durian and she said it was excellent. My husband ordered Xam Xa hat Luu (3 kinds of Jelly with coconut) and he love it! In general, all drinks/deserts are good and I would come back to try several more drinks before I leave San Jose. This place make me feel like VN because the taste of the deserts drink! Hands down- I'm addicted to this stuff! This place serves pretty bomb che!!! I used to always get the #1 Bambu Special (pandan jelly, coconut, longan, and basil seed) but my new favorite is #10 Suong Sao Hat Luu- it has grass jelly, red tapioca, and pandan jelly in coconut milk. YUM! Simple, easy to eat and drink. Very delicious. I like how the red tapioca (hat luu) gives the dessert a slight crunchy texture and the pandan jelly is just pure goodness. We ordered: -Purple Rice Avocado (5/5): Love love LOVE this dessert! It was creamy, milky, and you taste avocado but it's not so strong. I especially loved all the textures from the toppings in the drink. My fiance doesn't even like avocado desserts and he was surprised how good it was. There's only one order station but the workers take your order fast. They were friendly and patient. We walked around and explored the complex and the grocery store while waiting and when we came back, our order was ready. Would I come back? YES! Would I recommend? Yes, and would highly recommend you try the Purple Rice Avocado!

However, if you come in and order via the kiosk, the promos won't even be recognized and a lot of times toppings are missing from the list even though you can clearly see drinks being made with that topping by the workers as you are ordering. Seems like the only way to use a promo is to order with a human, but the workers are often so busy that they don't come to the register and point you towards the kiosk. I love the drinks and that they now have snacks (even if the fries changed to be skinny fries), but they really need to stop pretending to have promos and then have all of their technology fail you out of it so you can't get it.

I'll come back but it's primarily to finish the gift card and maybe get my rewards. L O C A T I O N Teaspoon is located off of Calaveras Blvd in the shopping center with the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market which is closer to 880. It's a sizeable parking lot but this place can get busy and full during peak eating times as there are a few very popular restaurants here. I found a parking spot not too far away. I N S I D E It's not a large space but they do have some seats if you're looking to meet up with someone. It's nice inside. M E N U The menu hasn't changed too much over the years. I feel like it's missing some standard tea flavors but they do have some specialty fruit drinks. Today I ended up going back to the tried and true House Milk Tea and I added grass jelly. No added sugar nor ice so there was a bit of space at the top of the drink but it wasn't exhorbitant. My memory of Teaspoon seemed to clash with what I got. I drank my drink and sadly the tea flavor is very faint even feels a bit watered down. But you can taste that this blend does have bergamot which is generally a sign of some kind of earl grey. The lactose free option for milk was okay but it definitely didn't make the drink creamy which was a bummer. So it was definitely more on the watery side of milk teas. S E R V I C E I walked in and two folks were in the store and just talking to each other. I went to the kiosk to order my drinks. There's a way to enter your phone number to claim rewards but there's no way to create or add yourself to their rewards system unless you download the app which is a bummer. I used to have their rewards program but I guess they moved everything to their own app. Since my data in the store wasn't great, I ended up signing up after and luckily they still had my information. I just wish my order had been added to the account. Oh well! My drink was made fairly quickly as I was the only person there. O V E R A L L I don't gravitate to Teaspoon for drinks and I think after this experience, I can say I just am not a Teaspoon person. But will I come back? Sure cause I still have a gift card. Maybe I'll stick to their other drinks and not their milk tea.

No uh nutrition menu either so you are left to estimate based on expertise? I had a mild interaction with the only employee at the time. Well let's just say he wasn't exactly happy to be there? This happy lemon location is hit or miss. It's super inconsistent and the A1 is usually decent or…read morereally bad (more often the latter). I'm not sure why I think anything will change but I visited again today and the tea was completely clear and had just the slightest hint of yellow. There was no tea flavor and was extremely bland. Unfortunately, I won't be visiting this location anymore. The Newark location is much more consistent and I've never had a bad drink there. It's further away but is worth it knowing that I'm going to actually enjoy my drink.
