I love their variety on Vietnamese Iced Dessert Drinks! My classic favorite is the drink with coconut milk, red tapioca, grass jelly, green jelly and grounded up yellow mung beans. If I can have my drink custom made, I would only get their coconut drink with red tapioca and green jelly. I really don't care for the mung beans in the drink. They make their red tapioca well and green jelly impressively not soggy and with a good mild texture. Ever since I have heard that they opened a BAMBU in San Francisco, I couldn't wait to go! My first exposure of BAMBU was in Sacramento, where it is scorching hot during the summer days and the dire need for iced, sweet drinks are in high demand! When they opened in late jan/ early feb i was pretty upset because i was going on vacation for whole month and i know i won't have time to make the trip to go try it. So when i first came back, i had to swing by Bambu!. This place is actually pretty good and for the price you pay it's worth it. I usually get the number 2 for desserts. It consist of Red bean, white bean, mung bean, taro, pandan jelly, pearl, combo jelly. The desserts get really filling, and the best part is , is that you can add anything to it! I usually like to add durian!!! The service is fast and everyone usually greets you with a smile, the only problem is finding parking. I only go here for one thing .. their excellent Mangonada drink. Very few boba places offer this and I'd say Bambu's version is the best. Outside of that I think it's still good but there are many other comparable boba places both in the Richmond district and certainly in SF. Just one note .. this is not a true Mangonada like you would get in the mission with mostly mango fruit. It does have a mango pieces but it's more of a smoothie / slush and as a smoothie it's really great if you like the Mangonada sweet/spicy flavor. read more

You can order chè, which is a sweet dessert that is mixed with assorted toppings like basil seeds, longan, pandan jelly, lychee, taro, or red bean and splashed with a dash of coconut milk or juice. I typically order the Bambu Special or Summer Delight because the toppings balance each other out very well. I love that it's not too heavy and very refreshing. I also usually order an Avocado Smoothie here, which can be a hit or miss. The ratio of avocado to condensed milk can sometimes be lacking so all I taste is just ice and milk. Disappointing! I hope that it's not like this for another fruit juices/smoothies. There's usually not a lot of people here, so I would come if I'm around the area or want a place to sit down and chat with friends. Cute little cafe in outer Richmond with nice staff. Had the fresh coconut water with coconut chunks inside the drink. They were freshly peeled and the water was fresh out of the coconut. You can really taste the difference. It simply hit the spot after a long walk along the beach and back to the waterfront district. One drink was over five dollars so it is a bit pricey. But they've got cool large tables inside along with nostalgic board games. It was really nice to see families having a drink and enjoying themselves. I came in today on a whim during lunch time to order #2 Bambu Combo which consisted of red, white mung beans, taro, pearls, jelly and coconut milk. I enjoyed the concept of having a drink filled with toppings on the bottom, coconut milk in between and piles of shaved iced on top. I was told to mix the drink up with a spoon before drinking. Turns out my drink had very little topping with a majority of the cup filled with large amounts of shaved iced. Hence it was a super cold, watered down iced drink. Not my type of dessert. This was my first time visiting this location, and I was disappointed that around 8:45 pm they ran out of boba. I decided to not order anything since boba is the main reason why I love their drinks. I asked some questions about the menu the first time I came in and got very short, almost dismissive replies as if I shouldn't be asking anything. Love this place so much! I first discovered this chain in Northern Virginia and was surprised to hear its origins are Californian. I was even more surprised to find this location so close to my new home. What a win! Must trys are their dessert specials. I used to love BAMBU. Their Thai iced tea got me through many an afternoon slump, and their iced Vietnamese coffee was my go-to when I REALLY need a pick-me-up. (I definitely recommend going for 50% sweetness, otherwise it's too much!) Over the last three years, though, prices have steadily increased to the point that I feel a little silly justifying the splurge. Even boba pearls are an add-on up charge now! Plus, parking is really difficult if you're swinging by on your way to somewhere else. What used to be a fairly frequent treat is now a once-in-a-blue-moon splurge. Pretty disappointed with my Che dessert drink compared to before when I used to come here more regularly. I ordered the Che ba mau which I usually get, and when it was served I noticed that there were half the amount of ingredients (red beans, taro, pandan) than they used to provide in the drink than before. While I was eating it, it mainly tasted like drinking coconut milk. Also, it used to take me a little longer to mix up all the ingredients, but there were barely any ingredients to mix up this time. Tired of the same old balls, I'm always in search for the next best thing so Bambu is a welcome addition to San Francisco. Finally something new other than sickeningly sweet milk pudding drinks (*ahemPurpleKowahem*), played out boba drinks (I still love you Wonderful Foods), froyos, crepes, and cupcakes. I know these are classics but new is good remember? The first of its kind in SF, Bambu serves an array of Vietnamese Che (sweet dessert drinks) and Dao (pudding) desserts along with your usual coffee drinks and smoothies in a bright contemporary lounge-like setting. A mélange of lychee, longan, red tapioca (water chestnuts), palm seed, jello, pandan jelly and fresh coconut in coconut milk topped with shaved ice, the Che Trai Cay was super refreshing yet wonderfully satisfying. I also added taro (mashed) which gave an additional creaminess to the dessert drink. My only gripe is the plastic bubble cover's hole was too small to fit the spoon in so you need to remove the cover to enjoy your che (more chances of an UH-OH in the car). Beware of the coffee drinks though. They're no joke. One sip of the Vietnamese Iced Latte and I was ready to throw it down like the table top dancing girls at Cafe Quyen. I walked into Bambu and was welcomed very nicely by two of the workers there, Katelynn and Irene. I didn't really know what to order- I was with my boyfriend and neither of us knew what to get. So I asked the person on the register, Katelynn, for any drink recommendations that were not too sweet and she recommended her favorite, the avadado smoothie. It turned out to be the perfect drink, thank you Katelynn. The place itself has 4 tables or so and is surprisingly quiet considering it's located on a busy street.
