Stopped by for a treat. I saw they are serving new bowls but they used AI pics to advertise them which I'm not a huge fan of but I understand it's a small business. The young girl that was working the register answered my many questions and was so patient with me. The store is quite small but that's ok, it's cute and i care more about food/service anyways. I ultimately settled on the honey grilled pork bahn mi and a crème brûlée coffee. The coffee didn't make it past 5 minutes, once you mix it around a bit, it is so incredibly decadent. Perfect treat. The bahn mi itself was delicious, I have a preference for softer bread but I know others love the bread they serve. Just beware it is a very crumbly and crunchy but fresh bread. We ordered two pork belly sandwiches, a brisket sandwich, and two iced coffees -- everything was fresh, delicious, and made with so much care. The service was excellent, fast, and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. The inside was absolutely immaculate and welcoming. The brisket sandwich was one of the best I've had in a long time, and the fact that the bread is made in-house makes it even better. And the iced coffee... it's seriously addicting! Best bahn mi I've ever had! The whole family loved the sandwiches (though one ate his without veggies) - we tried the pork belly, brisket, and spicy beef sandwiches. The spicy beef was mine and it was outstanding. Beef was great, veggies were perfectly pickled, the bread was crispy outside and soft in the middle, and the pate was just enough to be present but not overpowering. Note on drinks: iced coffee was great but strong (which I expected) and the hot cacao was very rich. Place is small but we dined in no problem and everything was super clean. We were craving banh mi sandwiches and I was on this side of town so why not? The place was super clean and the service was friendly! I did a to-go order of the following: iced Vietnamese coffee: 9/10 - this was so good! It was strong as how I liked it and they were able to add boba in it! It was robust, strong, slightly sweet, and creamy from the condensed milk! Reminded of my mom's coffee that she would make for me growing up. Roasted pork banh mi: 7/10 - I would have rated this higher but the pork ratio was really off. There weren't that much pork in the banh mi. The roasted pork was crispy and delicious but we barely tasted it since there were way more veggies than the actual protein itself. And the slices were small and thin. It was delicious but we wished there was more pork. Grilled spicy beef banh mi: 8/10 - pretty solid sandwich. it was full of grilled beef but the spice level was non-existent. The flavors were great and it was full of the veggies (jalapeno, cilantro, pickled daikon and carrots) as well. Combination banh mi: 8/10 - full of pork, head cheese, aioli, pate, and veggies, this one was probably our favorite. What I really love about the sandwiches was the bread! The bread on all the sandwiches was fluffy, crispy, and just melted in your mouth! The texture was insane! I air fried the sandwiches and it became extra crispy, just like how I like my banh mi! The sandwiches were also a pretty good size for being $8+. However, I still think they're kind of pricey. The flavors were good but it didn't WOW me. Would I come back? Yes if I'm in the area. What I tried... - Five-Spice Grilled Chicken sandwich (4/5): I just didn't get that 100% feeling eating the Five-Spice sandwich. The chicken for me just felt like it was not flavorful enough. Portion wise, it felt like the chicken or lack of, was hiding inside that sandwich. The baguette however was nice and toasty crunchy. Each bite gave that "crunch". - Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee (5/5): I always love trying the Vietnamese Iced Coffees anywhere that serves them and I have to say Bami makes them good enough to be in my Top 3 locally. My take... Perhaps my palate may have been superly spoiled and accustomed by the flavors I have tasted eating traditional type Bahn Mi that's normally served with sliced pork or pork belly. Their bánh mì is exactly how it should be: soft and fluffy on the inside with the perfect crunch on the outside. The meats are very well seasoned, and the crispy pork belly was actually CRISPY, not stale, tough, or chewy. I had the crispy pork rice bowl, while my family tried the crispy pork bánh mì, brisket bánh mì, and char siu chicken bánh mì. Everyone praised their food and genuinely enjoyed what they ordered, which says a lot coming from our picky family! The prices are very reasonable, if not on the cheaper side compared to what we've seen around Florida, especially for the quality and portions. I was able to order my favorite egg bahn mi (not on the menu but you just need to ask) with pickled veggies and all the love of street food. It's exactly how banh mi bread should be. Crispy on the outside and light, fluffy, with a slight chew on the inside. They definitely got the recipe down right 100%. And the filling, which is secondary in my opinion, on point as well. They have many options to choose from and you can't go wrong with any of them. And to wash that down, they have a large variety of fruit teas and bobas, but the star of the show are their authentic Vietnamese drip coffees. 7 different coffee Vietnamese coffees to try, including egg cream coffee that was viral in Hanoi. My friend picked me up some banh mi sandwiches from this place and wow! Soo good! I'm so impressed with all the flavors and the amount of ingredients and fill in the sandwiches. Most other places only add small amounts of meat and very little pickled veggies. I got the meat combo and it was perfect! All the different savory viet deli meats with the most perfect mayo/banh mi butter, generous portion of the delicious pate, the sweet and salty of the perfectly pickled veggies , spice of the sliced jalapeños, freshness of the sliced cucumbers, and nice fragrance of cilantro. Located in Julington Square in Fruit Cove next to the Neighborhood Walmart. Storefront doesn't have a sign up yet but you can't miss the glow of their Colorful Neon OPEN sign. Bami was an unplanned Saturday stop and did not dissapoint. We just had breakfast across the street at EggBred and I just happen to pull up bakeries/cafes near me on Maps. Surpised, an asian spot open this early (7AM-9AM) serving fresh bread? I gotta make a stop! A warm greeting as we opened their doors, simple setup, clean, easy to digest posted menu. Order was taken, A1, A2, A3 and two drinks were placed and yes, eating with our eyes. Took a seat and happily chatted with the Owners about their store. Moments later, our food and drinks came out neatly presented. Okay, first and foremost a banh mi isn't a banh mi without the kind of bread the protein and veggies are in. Bami's bread is 10/10, perfect in every way, light, airy, not dry, a good chew and crispy but not scrape the roof of your mouth crispy! The kind of bread you would find if you visited overseas to the motherland. A delicious 2nd breakfast was had and new friends made. Packed up what was left to go for Lunch. You can taste the love they put in their food. Meat is well seasoned and veggies perfectly pickled and not southern sweet which I appreciated as a midwesterner. Drinks- also not too sweet. The restaurant is clean and on the smaller side, with a few tables and seats for eating in. The menu is small and specializes in Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwhiches and Bubble Teas. Delicious Banh Mi's in Fruit Cove! I got the A3, crispy pork. The bread is perfect, soft and crunchy, but not tough (like when crust scrapes the roof of the mouth). The pork was delicious and it had a great crunch and crispiness to the skin. The veggies were fresh and had a good balance of freshness (cilantro), heat (thinly sliced jalapenos) and sourness (pickled carrots). The sauce on the sandwich was pretty balanced with a bit of sweetness for the jalapeno and pickled veggies. That being said, I wish there was a bit more pork and veggies. Arrived there at 11:30 am all ready to have a roast pork bahn mi sandwich! To my surprise they were already sold out of the roast pork! Really?? I find that hard to believe...maybe they don't sell roast pork but advertise it?? Ended up having the combo sandwich which was mediocre. Guy at the front wasn't very friendly either. Looked irritated that ordered the roast pork. In addition the cold drink refrigerator was barely stocked. No cold bottled water, barely any sodas..just a disappointment! Delicious! I asked for what was considered to be a traditional banh mi, and was recommended the Vietnamese Cold Cut (B3). The bread was fresh, nice and crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The fillings were fresh and liberally filled the bread. It was a really balanced, flavorful and very enjoyable sandwich. They even served it in parchment lined basket with napkins. You'll need them for the generous amount of pâté they put on. For my drink, I ordered their Egg Cream Coffee (C2). Drink to ice ratios were good. There was ice and coffee on the bottom, topped with a thick layer of their egg cream, finished with a dusting of cocoa powder. The drink was velvety and strong. A nice pick me up for the rest of the day. Interior of the restaurant was clean and modern looking. I loved the beautiful orchid plants they had on the counter and every table. Service was good and quick. I highly recommend trying out Bami! I think you'll find it a pleasant and delicious addition to your list of local go-to eateries.
