I really want to like to like this place and was hoping to be my go-to place for Thai. Unfortunately, pad thai was awful - no taste with dry chicken strips. Chicken satay - BIG disappointment -- melted butter with some yellow curry on top of dry chickens. Peanut sauce is like it came out of peanut butter jar. Green curry is good (why 2 stars). Had the Bangkok Belly Platter D 25 pieces of chefs choice. Over all the fish quality was pretty fair but the portions where a bit small. The presentation was good and found the fish selection to be decent. I defiantly have had been sashimi but the price was pretty good for the quantity. The platter came with soup miso soup which again nothing exciting but not bad. Also its a bit of a pain to find the place as the signage for it wasn't the best. read more

Everything was average tasting. The vegan rolls were void of any veggie filling. They were basically plain dough. The garden salad was all wilted- black and slimy. Excellent dinner here tonight. Totally no frills Thai and sushi in Norwood Park. Everything was hot, fresh, and very tasty. The new "golden shrimp" appetizer is creative and crazy delicious. Also had Philly roll (big chunks of fresh salmon, not too much rice), Mexican roll (standard, but delicious), Panang curry (perfect amount of spicy), and chicken pad Thai (very, very tasty). BYOB is always a huge plus.. Husband and I brought a great Merlot and had a totally relaxing meal. Portions of the sushi are pretty standard; Thai food portions were HUGE. I oredered a red spider roll that I ordered with no rice and with soy paper. A CRUMBLED MESS loaded with rice is what I recieved and paid extra for. That is only one of the several items that were delivered WRONG! When I called they refused to send the correct order and said it it was my fault! Bangkok Belly is seriously one of the best Thai places I've had in this area. I recently moved from Logan Square and had pretty decent Thai restaurants, but Bangkok Belly doesn't skimp on flavor just because it's an affordable dinner. It's BYOB and the Panang curry is so well rounded when it comes to the amount of veggies and curry sauce. Their sushi was fresh. The Thai Tea was what exactly what I was hoping for. Additionally, no matter how much food I order, I never have to wait more than 30 minutes to pick it up for takeout. My favorite Thai takeout place - hands down. I enjoyed the $9 Bangkok Belly Lover special for lunch. The special comes with miso and a small seaweed salad - they were both excellent The super white tuna was some of the best I have ever tasted and the salmon and tuna nigiri were fine as well. Great spot in Norwood Park. Def the best Asian food in the area. City quality sushi way up by O'Hare. Some thoughts from the meal: Have to admit I was on the fence about the St Patrick's Day themed roll, all of my fears were assuaged after tasting the roll. It was delicious, nice crunch from the asparagus, and the avocado helped give it a nice rich and round back end. The Bangkok Belly Noodle dish was pretty awesome. Nice mix of sweet, heat and savory. This place is just plain great! It is a bit small, but the food is wonderful. I especially love the Tom Kha soup. It is rich and creamy and really refreshing. I also love their Vegetable Tempura. It is crispy and they give you a good variety of vegetables. I am happy that the Tempura is not greasy. My wife likes their lunch special of assorted vegetables with chicken. It comes with soup and an egg roll and she said that both were good. They have Sushi too, but we have not tried that. The service was good and the waitress was very knowledgeable. read more

I will start by saying i never actually ate the food here. My experience was soured by a sole phone call to place an order for pick up. I visited the website, took a look at the menu, and my husband and I picked some sushi to order. He calls, tells her our order, and then asks to redeem the coupon offered on their menu website - free crab rangoons with a certain dollar amount purchase. The person taking the order tells us that the coupon is no longer valid. "It's still on your website," we say, but the lady would not budge. We ended up cancelling our order. I know it wasn't a huge deal, but it just irked me that they restaurant wouldn't honor it's own coupon on its own website. I understand the menu may be out of date, but then at least honor the deal to a new customer, and then change your online menu. I've gotten delivery from this location, and both gotten delivery and dined in at the Park Ridge location (which doesn't have a Yelp page). Each time the food was fantastic and our delivery person/servers have all been extremely friendly. They also will make pad see ew without fish sauce, which not all places will do. It's my favorite dish but as a vegetarian I get bummed out when I'm told the substitution can't be done. Plus- the veggie version has mushrooms- my favorite! The first time I tired that dish here I was in heaven. I love the thai/sushi combo here, and they do both very well. I ordered the pad see eiw online not realizing that I ordered crispy noodles. This has been the worst thing I have ever tasted. Burned and not good flavored at all. I called to let them know and the lady on the phone told me everyone likes it no one complains. I told her well I didn't like it and it does not taste good. I had a dentist visit in the area. I yelp this place before and finally I tried it. It was around lunch time I got a salmon lunch special that comes with miso and sea weed, additional spicy tako roll, and some nigiri sushi. All I can say are good things the stuff was very nice the sushi itself tasted very fresh, the rolls where right size. And my to go lunch was packed very well. Delivery is faster during day time; expect a 40-minute wait in evening for take-out because they are so busy. Love the salmon teriyaki lunch special (3 courses of miso soup, salmon and salad). Chicken satay is so tender and juicy. Fav dishes are veggie tempura (huge portion with plenty of green beans, broccoli and sweet potatoes), Thai pepper steak, orange chicken, garlic chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Recommend cucumber and seaweed salads as well as the veggie soup. Not a big sushi fan in general; however, I did try the Santa Fe roll which was incredibly fresh and delicious. Went there with 5 friends on a trip that I took from Texas. We randomly wanted Thai and drove around till we found a place that was sit down and open. The restaurant is small but absolutely beautiful and cozy and BYOB is always a plus. The menu is very reasonably priced as well and the plating of our food was exquisite. I started off trying one of my friend's Crab Rangoons. It was no overly stuffed but was also not lacking in any stuffing or flavor. I paid $6 for six goldenCalifornia rolls as my appetizer. This was a roll with cucumber, crab avacado and deep fried. It was warm but not hot, and it wasn't sticky or mushy. They rolls were all hand made, and since we had a large party, it took a while to get our food. After that I had the garlic chicken which, I think was $8. The garlic was not overpowering and there was an even amount of chicken, veggies, sauce and rice on the plate for the entree. Such good food for such a great price and excellent service. I don't have a problem with the food, which isn't amazing but is serviceable for this corner of the city. However, I have ordered takeout from here three times, and every single time they've managed to mess something up! The first time I ordered, I asked for a small substitution to a dish, and I got upcharged but didn't receive what I asked for. I shrugged and figured I'd stick to the posted menu next time. The second time, I didn't receive an appetizer that I'd ordered (and was charged for.) I called the restaurant and they told me to mention it next time I placed an order. Finally, this evening I decided to keep it really, really unambiguous and order through an app. When I checked the order, the appetizer AND drinks I'd ordered were missing. I immediately called the restaurant - explained the situation and asked them to either deliver my missing items, or refund the difference to my credit card. The response? "Oh, tell us next time and we'll give you for free." Well, at this point you guys basically owe me a full meal for free. Sorry, there won't be a next time. read more

And must I say as soon as my fiancée opened her meal all she got was some chicken on white rice with teriyaki sauce poured all over it. Crab Rangoon tasted ok and the egg rolls were ok. Tiny noodles and the added chicken was scarce. My girlfriend had the crunchy shrimp and spicy tuna, we both have had better. The best thing here is the crab rangoon, the sauce along with it was awesome. Maybe we chose the wrong items but either way my last time at Bangkok Belly was my last time. Stop by for dinner with my wife. We ordered a spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll to start with. Sushi was decent but the they weren't very spicy. For dinner I ordered the Bangkok Belly noodles with chicken and my wife ordered lime chicken. Bangkok noodles were good but not quite what I expected, on the menu it calls it a soup but when it came out it was more like noodles in curry sauce. My wife's lime chicken was okay at best the fried chicken was light and crispy but was under seasoned and they put way too much of the sauce over the top of the chicken. I think the sauce was just mayonnaise and didn't really taste any lime or citrus in the sauce. If your in the mood for just sushi I would say it was decently priced but other then that everything else was so so. read more
