Never disappointed when eating here. I've had Thai food all over the world, but this is my favorite place to eat Thai food in Maryland.

I ate at Bangkok Kitchen for the first time today. I had no idea it even existed until I had a lunch meeting there today. I was quite impressed! The food was fantastic. As was the service. My boyfriend, dad and I went here after moving me in. The menu is a little like a diner menu. Lots of options and you need to take a few minutes to let it soak in as to not get overwhelmed. We had pork dumplings, wonton soup, honey roasted duck, ruam mit puk and cashew chicken. Dumplings were good. Wonton soup was really good, and interesting. The broth isn't just chicken broth. Honey roasted duck was absolutely delicious. I dream about that dish. Ruam mit puk was alright. I needed chili sauce to liven it up, but I love hot. The cashew chicken turned out good as well. Service was a little awkward at first because we were the only ones in the place but it was very laid back. If we needed something, we'd quickly get his attention and he was very aware of when each of us had finished. I'm the slowest eater of the bunch and never felt rushed after the others had finished. The food was fresh. We had a late meal so we had to get something light. Our order consisted of the tom yum soup with shrimp, the summer rolls and a vegetable pad thai. The summer rolls' ingredients were fresh, and they didn't skimp on the amount of shrimp they had in the roll. The sauce could've been more exciting. All i tasted was Hoisin sauce with a lingering spicy flavor. The tom yum soup was more spicy and flavorful. More on the spicy side. But I did enjoy it. It would probably be my go-to soup during the winter months because it made my nose run. And the veg pad thai was very good. This place is great for everyone else, but as I've got shellfish allergies, it seems hit or miss on if the staff will prepare a food without adding oyster sauce or not. Wow. Where do I start. So first off if you are visiting Fort Meade make this a must stop for a meal. It is in the back of a shopping complex, you have to look, but then yoi find this diamond in the rough. When you walk in, you find yourself in a small quaint family restataunt. Find yourself a seat and prepare your taste buds for a fabulous ride! This is only my second time trying Thai so I wanted to try things I really didn't know what they were. I started with Larb Gai, it was minced chicken with cilantro, scallions and spices. BANG, those are some spices. But the flavor was outstanding, I couldn't believe the kick, but the cilantro evened it out. I honestly would love to just have that over a big leafy salad, maybe next time. Tonight I went on to my main course, Gaeng Moo, which was red curry with pork, pinapple, and coconut milk. I ordered it with medium spice, after that appetizer, I wasn't going to risk any more! Again, FLAVOR FLAVOR FLAVOR! The combination between the pinapple sweetness and the kick from the spice was perfection, just perfection. The jasmine rice on the side was perfection. I savored every bite I took. I do not think I have ever experienced flavor combinations like this. Finally dessert.... after the host Mary, explaimg to me the different desserts I went with the Kanam Tuey, the best way to describe u it is a hot thick pudding with coconut milk on top. It was the perfect amount of sweetness. Again... perfection. The highlight was the amazing service Mary provided, she took the time to talk to me and explain the different foods. This afternoon Kevin and I had lunch at Bangkok Kitchen. The owner was authentic Thai; the food was authentic Thai. I had the Tom Yum soup which was full of large shrimp, mushrooms, and cooked in an absolutely amazing lemongrass broth. When I see two out of three asterisks next to a food denoting its spiciness, I expect my taste buds to love the taste while my nose acknowledges the spice; I wasn't disappointed. After paying for lunch I introduced myself to the owner. She's a Thai immigrant who's lived in Maryland for 24 years and opened Bangkok Kitchen 15 years ago (as of 2010). Four out of five stars due to decors. It was very clean and had plenty of room between tables to navigate, but it looks like it probably hasn't been remodeled since they opened 15 years ago. So I was worried about eating here because the building looked ghetto as hell and I thought I was going to get jumped because the surrounding area is so sketchy-looking and rundown. When you walk inside, it's really dark but the servers approached us immediately and were friendly. If you are looking for greasy, nasty-looking generic hybrid of Thai/Chinese, check out the lunch buffet. It looked like heart attack and diabetes in the corner and was pretty limited on choices. Not my bag anyway. If you want the good stuff, order off the actual menu! Here's what we ordered: 1) Deep Sea soup was wonderful! Spicy, sour, and so flavorful! I was a big fan of the strips of ginger in the soup and the zing of the basil scattered about. They did not skimp on the seafood, which is what a lot of places do! I had a fat shrimp, lots of squid, and two mussels. Very nice. 2) Pik King was soooo spicy! Delicious! I wish there were more veggies, but as long as the chicken is good I'm happy. 3) Drunken noodles were super spicy too! They were a little burned in some areas, but it just gave it a smoky flavor. Still good though! I don't know how I would feel about coming here at night, but lunchtime was a good surprise. I'm glad you can get Thai food in the Fort Meade area. There seems to be an overabundance of fast food joints and greasy burgers so this is a breath of fresh air, even if it does look creepy on the outside! read more

After a long day of Christmas shopping, we needed some comforting, hot Thai food and drove 20 minutes from the mall to visit Bangkok Kitchen. We were pretty happy with it. It was very dead on a Saturday night, just one other family and a couple or two. (There was an Army-Navy game, so we figured the Fort Meade folks were elsewhere watching it.) Bangkok Kitchen definitely delivered. The tea we ordered was not hot or very flavor, so I'd say skip the Jasmine tea (they kept the restaurant pretty cold, so this was too bad). But after that, everything was great. My boyfriend really liked the spring rolls (which have meat in them); really nicely fried and good dipping sauce. He got won-ton soup that was good, a little different from others he'd had because of the Thai flavor and cilantro. Not greasy at all. He had green curry chicken and it was good, could of had a few more vegetables. The rice was great. There's a whole vegetarian section of the menu and I picked Panang Curry because it was the one curry-ified item on the veggie list (green and red must have fish sauce?) with tofu. It was great. The tofu is nicely fried and cooked--not that flaccid, wobbly stuff you get some places. I had them add veggies for $2 extra and they still didn't add much--but the broccoli I got was fresh and a really nice addition. Flavors were really good. Service was very friendly and quick (especially since we were some of the very few people there) and the place is definitely clean, though kind of freezing on a cold night (especially the bathroom). My friend randomly suggested Thai food for lunch and on a whim we ended up here. I'm not going to lie, from the outside it does not look great. But I had faith in my friend who coaxed me out of the car and was met inside by a better looking inside. If you park on the side closest to the road you end up entering next to the buffet. But there was a very attentative waitress to assist us. The all you can eat buffet was affordable at $10.95 and it was the best Thai food! Wow. That was the worst experience at a restaurant I've had in 38 years of life. From my understanding, management has changed and so did the employees. Today we went in to eat dinner. We ordered chicken fried rice, yellow curry, and a fried shrimp meal. The fried shrimp meal came out with at least five ants (my daughter counted) crawling on the food. My wife's meal came out and the chicken smelled bad/spoilt. We mention the ants and they quickly replaced that meal in 2-5 minutes. This perplexed us since it took longer originally for that meal to come out. Meanwhile, my wife set her plate aside and our glasses remained empty for quite sometime. Finally, she went over to the register to present these other concerns. The wait staff and other employees turned on her. Saying things that were rude and unprofessional. That was not good enough, they decided to follow up by coming to our table to harass her by ordering her to eat some other people's food to tell them the difference. At this point, I had enough and politely requested the waiter to back away from the table and step out of my wife's personal space. Instead of realizing he was being aggressive in his attitude and stance, he continued to be defiant. I had to request him to depart our space about five times before he finally stomped off saying, "just leave; I'll pay for your meal." read more

Was my first time there. She was so nice and friendly. Food was good and fast service.

This place awkwardly located and can be difficult to find. Parking is horrible and the establishment does not have an inviting look. I felt the need to lock my car before waling in. when I did walk in I was struck by how cluttered and unorganized it was, and was a little disconcerted by the odor. I had placed my order for pickup, otherwise I would have walked out. I ordered fresh spring rolls, a red curry chicken with coconut milk, and jasmine rice. When I arrived home I was disappointed with what I found. In the fresh spring rolls was fake crab meat that was old and stale. The curry chicken had very little chicken, maybe an ounce, and was loaded with fillers, celery and water chestnuts. There was no other vegetable in the dish. Additionally, the rice was a plain white rice, not jasmine as I requested. I would not recommend this establishment, try Carlsons Thai in Annapolis instead. read more

The House Salad is the best I've ever tasted and my favorite meal is the Bamee Racha. I can eat the House Salad as a meal, the dressing is amazing tiopped with broiled chicken actaully fills my appetite with a Thai tea to wash it down. Yummy. And the peopl are so nice. The outside of the restaurant says nothing about what you'll find inside. I went with my family for dinner and ordered off the menu, I can't remember what mine was called or what anyone else had but the food was delicious. I had a chicken dish. The chicken was moist, perfectly seasoned and delicious! The atmosphere was nice enough. The location isn't great, hard to find the first time you go, located between the Mapes and Reese gates. Parking can be difficult. Prices are reasonable and the food is amazing! Give it a try! read more

Best Thai food in the states! I always go out for Thai food with my girlfriend and it's one of my favorite cuisines of all time. Long story short, previous owners' food was really good. However, the attitude of some employees was poor as did that attitude being to reflect in the food. After several "second tries" in hopes that things would get better (customer service and food) I could no longer patronize BK. 3+ years later, I went back, new owner, GREAT customer service--attentive, personable, and very pleasant. Food was good but when you walk in there is a TERRIBLE smell. I don't know if it was the carpet or what. The decor is outdated. They really need to renovate in there it will attract more customers. My friend is the only reason I didn't walk out because I didn't want to be rude because he chose this place. Sadly I won't be back until that horrid smell is gone. They were super nice tho. Where do we start? I really wanted Thai and thought trying this convenient spot would work out. Well the soup had ZERO flavor, the chicken drunken noodles tasted disgusting and had one basil leaf..ughhh. Odenton/Jessup/Severn areas shall be forever known as the Thai desert.. it's sad that Frederick Md has better Thai food. It seems that this area is only known for royal farms chicken. Dont get me wrong, I like this place. I've eaten here over the years. My biggest gripe is consistency. You can order the same item and it will taste slightly different. I chock it up to a different in taste with the chefs. Then there are other times where it doesn't even taste like the same dish. read more

Behind the sketch ball exterior is an absolutely delicious lunch buffet for just under 10 bucks. There are about 8 dishes out at a time, plus their delicious spring rolls, and they change a few dishes throughout the lunch rush. The only weak point is the steamed rice which, cooked in a huge rice cooker, came out a little mushy. Take-out isn't as reliable, though. I stopped by once to pick up some Pad Thai and it didn't come with any of the usual extras (bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, lemon wedge, green onions) and was on the greasy side. Thai buffets are so rare in the area, so whenever I find one, I tend to rate them highly. This place is a bit dark, but their lunch buffet is pretty reasonable. As of 9/2011, they offer the buffet at about $9.95 per person, but this lunch buffet is only offered during the weekdays. It had a decent variety of offerings, and their crispy chicken was very good. The cellophane noodles dish was nice, though it would have been good to also have the standard pad thai. While they had a fair number of vegetarian dishes, they did not skimp on the meat dishes either. Most everything was pretty flavourful, and the staff were well-mannered and attentive. It appears to be a small operation in an out-of-the-way location, so I hope they are able to continue to offer one of the few Thai buffets in the area. read more

This has been my go to place for a couple of years now. The last 2 times I have gone there the same thing happened. 4 people ordered their food one person gets their food and everyone else is sitting there waiting. When my food came out the first person was almost done eating. I ordered Ram Pad Pic hot with peanuts and basil. this is what I usually order. It came out with out the peanuts and basil and was not spicy at all. I complained, they offered to remake it. I said no it's really too late. that was 4 months ago, I decided to try them again last night and it was an exact repeat!!! My food came out 15 minutes later than the first dish. Again no peanuts, basil or spices!!! I complained they offered to remake it. I said it is way too late for you to re cook my meal and the person across from me then complained that his dish was not what he ordered. I asked them to remove my dish and take it off the bill. I told them that this is the second time this has happened and I was not happy. She decided to argue with me about the quality and timeliness. I had to ask her to stop talking and give us the bill. I am very disappointed with the service and the food. And there were only 4 other tables occupied!!!!! I am very sorry as this used to be a good place to go. No more. PS. This is a very good Thai restaurant. I only wanted to give it 4 stars, but my experience with their Ka Po Chicken forces me to up the score. This is a Thai spin on Kung Pao, but the chicken is shredded, the chilis are far more numerous, in fact, those red devils are minced into the dish. And, of course, there is basil, but also jalapenos. I have no idea how this place has such good reviews. To be fair its not horrible but you can do better as far as thai food goes. It's Divey and does seem to be in a sketch neighborhood. Their drunk noodles was below par any one who says otherwise needs to go to a real thai restaurent like Nava Thai or something. Sorry but its the truth. The Panang was ok but great. So i guess if you really want Thai food go here but i recommend going out of your way to have something tasty. Given I think that people around here have less taste in what GOOD food is(I come from Cali where taste matters and it seems a good part of MD doesnt have that) and if it matters Im half thai. read more
