We get N4 (curry pad thai) mild chicken, beef, or pork about twice a month. This is the best place for curry pad thai in the city and the staff are wonderful! Only downside is that the spiciness varies depending on the cook. Sometimes medium is great, other times it is very hot. read more

We go to both the Bangkok taste in Jenison and the one on Jefferson the first time we went in we ordered sesame chicken it was great but we ordered a medium sauce and it was hot. Since then we order the sesame chicken with the mild sauce and love it so much we don't even look at the menu anymore. Amazed at the takeout business they do. This small suburban Thai restaurant is a great local find for food lovers tired of chain restaurants or the same old Chinese buffets. If you're from the area or just passing through, it's definitely worth the ten to fifteen minute trip from downtown Grand Rapids (or just a couple minutes off the I-196 expressway in Jenison). The food is as good or better than any I've had at any Thai restaurant in a large city, in a friendly family-owned business. We've been eating here since they opened, and the food is consistently well-cooked and excellent. Most of the large selection of dishes have a tofu option, and thus the majority of the menu can be made vegetarian friendly, including appetizers and soups. (This makes it a great place for vegetarians to meet their carnivorous friends for dinner!) I like very spicy curries and sauces, and they are willing to serve some blistering heat here; if you don't care for spice, be sure to order your dish with NO spice rather than "mild." Overall it's not just our favorite Thai restaurant but one of the best in Grand Rapids, and along with Maggie's Kitchen is where we always recommend when asked. read more

This is our go-to place for curry pad thai. The food is not too saucy/runny, the flavor is spot on, and the serving size is perfect. The food does run spicy, so we tend to go mild. If you LOVE spicy food, they can do that for you. :) We only do takeout, so I can't comment on dining in, but our food is always prepared quickly & the woman working the register is friendly. read more

Great food, fun possibilities of food and spices. They do a good job of filling you up, and keeping your drink full. waitress was nice and even when they were busy came around to remove plates or bowls. This is by far the best Thai food I've had. Great food, prompt service. Didn't have to wait too long for my food. The serving size is pretty generous. The waitresses were very prompt in refilling rice and water, which you need plenty of if you are ordering your food hot! This was my first visit and I will be back for more. We got hooked on Thai food while living in Thailand. The food here is excellent however, they do not cater to gluten sensitivities nor do they understand the dire ramifications. They also have those darn air fresheners which meant my sister in law and I had to leave because we were both having severe asthma attacks. We took our food with us, but my sister in law had a severe reaction to whatever was in her chicken and ended up in ER. It was most unpleasant. read more

My friends and I went for lunch just now and it was the worst experience ever! The food was on the borderline of okay but the server spilled my yellow curry dish ALL OVER my friends pants without even realizing it until she saw the look on all of our faces. Luckily her sesame chicken was decent enough for her to sit through it. The waitress only offered to take 10% off of her meal, if you saw her pants it should have been completely paid for! All of the waitresses seemed to not care about being there and in my opinion I don't find it appropriate for them to be sitting at the very front table eating food while still having tables to serve. My mouth waters just thinking of it and I just finished eating some a few hours ago. All the food is also generously portioned and fairly priced. Went tonight with a friend and her child and requested Pad Ped - not on the menu - though our waitress suggested an alternate eggplant-basil dish Gang Ped. My dish arrived - no eggplant. Became aggrieved, as my menu choice was predicated upon the inclusion of eggplant within. So I offer up the dish for inspection by our waitress who confirms the eggplant omission. She returns to the kitchen to investigate where's the communication breakdown. Couple minutes later out comes an older woman (the owner?) who brusquely bangs a bowl of eggplant in front of me and with curt derision says "here's your eggplant". Outraged at her demeanor - and the pro-offered eggplant swimming in a red sauce, as opposed to my Gang Ped's green sauce - I erupt in high dudgeon. The offending owner flees to the kitchen, from which one of the cooks shortly emerges to offer a sincere apology/reconciliation. I explain to her the crucial differences between red/green sauces (their color) plus if that rude lady doesn't come out and apologize, this meal's not getting paid for. Cook repairs to the kitchen to deliberate with the cowering owner. No dice. No way this lady's coming back out. So we left and will never return. Pork Spring Roll is greasy, Pad Thai noodle texture is wrong, Crab Rangoon is rubbery (and misspelled on the menu) and we had to seat ourselves. Needs new owners/management. Ick. There have been an explosion of Thai restaurants in the Grand Rapids area over the past few years, and none quite as good as the first IMHO. But Bangkok Taste is pretty good. Lots of lime in the Tom Ka Gai soup, but I'm never a fan of tomatoes in that soup. Massaman Curry is good, and the fried rice with Thai Basil is excellent. Got hooked on Thai while in Las Vegas where I found two places I loved. One a local chain of 4 places. Looking for good Thai in GR, so far very disappointed. I was alone, ordered two dishes. Classic Pad Thai w chicken level 5 heat, Gang Keaw Warn also level 5 heat cause I love egg plant and Thai Iced Tea. I went at 1 pm so only 4 others finishing meals. The service and food delivery was very fast, service attentive, friendly. Premises was clean. My Pad Thai needed more sauce and lacked spice although heat level of 5 was there. Portion on small side but only $5.95. The Gang Kew Warn $ was a complete disappointment. About 1 Tbsp of eggplant (2 very very tiny thin slices 1in wide, 1/4 in thick and I do not exaggerate). The rest of the dish was composed of green pepper slices and onion, bamboo shoots. There was only a small amount of coconut green curry sauce for the dish, not even enough to coat the side of rice and the whole lacked spice. The Thai Iced tea $2.50 was OK but nothing special. This is 2 tried and 2 I won't go back to. In fact I went to the Asian Market and bought my own Thai food makings. read more

Bangkok taste what a hidden gem, we get takeout here every couple of weeks. The pad Thai is awesome my wife gets it with no spice. Their Pla dook pad ped(red cury crispy catfish) is one of the most amazing dishes I've ever eaten. As other reviewers have mentioned watch the heat level, the medium in the green curry will bring tears to my eyes but in the pla dook pad ped medium is perfect. The take out is fast usually 15 minutes. I've tried other Thai places but between the pad Thai and the pla dook pad ped I feel there's no comparison! read more
