I've been meaning to come here since the new owners opened as I've heard lots of good things! Location and parking were much easier than I expected and both surprisingly convenient. First green flag: Smells great walking in. Second, what a lovely place to take a rest from the hustle and bustle of uptown! This newly renovated establishment is clean, relaxing and a treasure trove of green flags for me: fresh, delicious, spicy, meaty, salty, sour, crispy and sweet. I did notice good vegetarian options available too. (I'm not vegatarian but it is a mark of a good Thai menu.) A lot of take out and delivery orders were being picked up on this weekday leaving plenty enough room for our larger party so that was great. It is always good sign when the local residents are picking up meals for home. If I lived in the area, this would be a weekly pick up order for me too because the food was fan-freaking-tastic ya hear?! Curry and duck choices were thoroughly enjoyed by our table of experienced diners. I tasted four curries, all winners in my book and a must for a good Thai restaurant. Yellow and massaman were my family's favorites. My personal favorites though were the appetizers, soup and deserts! Those were really special. I regret not taking more photographs but was carried away with excitement. I recommend for dining in, takeout, delivery but especially parties, you pick up a few orders of Bangkok wings, golden bags sweet rice with custard, and crispy roti, for a most impressive spread! Tom Yum and Tom Ka are my usual lunch orders so I tried the Tom Ka and liked it as much as Thai Ocha, my normal favorite. For reference, I like mine spicy but a little sweet, served hot. The restroom was super clean and private, bonus points from me. Service was attentive but not intrusive, just perfect for a nice, calm evening dinner. Last notes are pretty music was playing but I turn it up a little because I love Thai music of all genres. Their liquor license is pending right now, not an issue for our group. The food is absolutely delicious, my favorite is the red curry soup with the crispy duck and those Bangkok Wings are off the chart and let me not forget to mention the Roti Curry as a starter appetizer . The Cashew Nut w/ crispy chicken is so good as well. All the Thai teas are so very tasteful and their desserts like the Nutella Roti and the Mango & Coconut Sticky rice are a must try. This is probably the most dive like Thai place in the NOLA area. Before Katrina I used to frequent this place several times a week for their lunch buffet. I don't believe they ever brought the buffet back after Katrina as I haven't seen it since. It was never the best buffet and the food I've ordered at dinner is also not the best example of Thai food I ever had but it is always tasty and filling. This usually isn't my first choice for Thai but if I'm in Cooter Browns and want some Thai this is the place to go. Recently this restaurant had a change in ownership and the food has changed. Truly amazing! My first time trying this cozy, Thai gem and I will definitely be back. Had the Tom Kha with various seafood and a Thai tea. Food was prepared and delivered timely and hot. The milky coconut broth had just the right blend of sweet and savory. I tipped the bowl for the last drop. All of the seafood was cooked to perfection. The squid was tender and sweet, shrimp cooked just right and had huge diver scallops and green mussels prepared to perfection. Probably my new favorite dish. Will be back soon to try the many other options. It is obvious that the chef puts her heart and soul into the food and Carey was welcoming and attentive the entire visit. Truly an amazing place. The portion size for dishes is enough for leftovers, but the rice was undercooked and while I liked the mango cashew scallops and shrimp, I would've liked a finer chop on all the fruit and nuts so that each bite was more cohesive. Recommend? Not really. I got the crispy tofu and veggie pad cashew with wide noodles. None of their curries are vegan. The roti is served with red curry. Therefore it is not vegan. The crispy tofu had a really good crunch to it. I added wide noodles to the veggie pad cashew thinking they would cook the noodles with the pad cashew, but it was served on the side. It was totally not their fault I was being complicated. I didn't personally like the flavor, it was bit light. The dish was loaded with cashews though unlike some places I've had it at. read more

We ordered the Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and Green Curry. Everything was really good- much better than Sukhothai. The woman who served us was very friendly and kind, she also grows some of the ingredients used in the food in her own garden- and you can tell how fresh the chilis are. We were there at around 8:30pm on a Friday night and our food came out fast. This place is right across the street from La Madeleine, next to Cooter Brown's. We got an order of shrimp and pork dumplings (nice, soft, moist and flavorful), fresh rolls (simple, not overly flavorful-came with 2 yummy sauces to dip though), beef salad (my least favorite-barely any salad, beef strips were a little dry), fried rice (awesome, tasty, good portion), pad Thai (also delicious, complex flavored and not overly sweet, good portion), and the red curry (possibly our favorite-rich and complex, slightly creamy, not overly spicy). My bf said it was the worst pad thai he ever had in his life, and he NEVER complains about food. This man will eat almost ANYTHING and be happy with it. So, for him to say food was bad, it has to be really bad! He described it as "mushy and flavorless " He said he bought paid Thai sauce from the store once in an attempt to make it home, and this pad Thai taste just like the store bought sauce he purchased. I think this place serves more than decent Thai food. Tom Kha was good enough, though I think it could be a little more sour. I was expecting more from the volcano chicken-- it should have been crispier. However, the duck curry hit the right flavors and the duck was cooked very well. Despite being picky when it comes to Thai food, I enjoyed the dinner overall. To have Asian food in this part of town is a major plus as well (I seem to seek out Asian food in New Orleans.) The ambience is good, dimly lit, and peaceful. Yes, take your date here. The service is great. The food came out pretty fast compared to other places. Their menu is what would keep me coming back-- it seems to be pretty authentic and has a variety, rather than your typical pad thai and curry. I was surely eyeing down the pompano for next time. I went there at the beginning of the week for an early dinner. To my surprise, it wasn't busy at all. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I had the Panang Curry with chicken. It was a nice sized portion. It consisted of tons of vegetables and chicken. The sauce was delicious. It was served with a side of rice. The menu had lots of other rice and noodle dishes. I can't wait to go back and try them. I wasn't too happy with the parking situation. There was no place to park in the neighborhood!! I basically had to park on the rail road track. Bangkok Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant anywhere, hands down! (Including New Orleans and Austin, for sure. It even beats some of the meals we had in Thailand, on our honeymoon.) I lived uptown for many years and now, whenever I visit from Austin, this is always on the list. I just had the awesome spicy eggplant dish. Yum!!! Aw, I like Bangkok Thai. It's close to work and my friend who spent some time in Thailand says that this is the most authentic place in the city. I lived in Cambodia for 6 years and I still couldn't really tell you what is authentic Thai food. I could tell you if it was completely off, but like, I like Sukho okay, and I like this place. I like the basil stir fry here. The laab/laap/larb (however you spell it) is pretty good. And I get the green curry sometimes too. I used to love pumpkin curry at my Thai place back in Portland. I think it's time I give Bangkok Thai's pumpkin curry a try. The lunch portions are indeed small, but you can get the combo, which comes with your choice of spring rolls, goong naree, or something else. My memory is failing me. Ok, I know the scenery is blah but this by far the best damned beef and tofu pad thai I've had in the city! It's frequented mainly by Tulane and Loyola students and I don't really care, I just want my pad thai! The thai iced tea is yummy too! Now keep in mind, I'm big about customer service. One time I hurt my hand and was in pain. I ran into here and asked if I could have some ice in a bag and guess what, they gave it to me! Now, I know I'm friendly and such but I was really grateful for their kindness! We had dinner here for the first time the other night. It was pretty good and we'll go back again soon I am sure. The only other Thai I have had in the city is at the Chill Out Cafe.I like the location and decor of Chill Out Cafe better, but I think I prefer the food at this place because they have a more expanded menu with some options not available at the other place. We had the Chicken Satay and it was delicious.Tender, juicy and full of flavor. I had Tofu and steamed veggies with Peanut Sauce and a side of sticky rice (I LOVE sticky rice!) and my partner had Thai Fried rice. We both enjoyed our food and have no complaints at all. Got a real big craving for some Thai food. Found this place up my street and decided to go for it. It's a very small place and at this hour (8:30pm) it was pretty empty. From first sight, I had a little doubt going into here. Place is very clean and very dim lighting. I ordered to go on my usual faves: papaya salad, pad see ew with Chicken and mango with sticky rice. The waiter / cashier is very nice and has a slight language barrier but that's not a big deal. Makes it more authentic to Thai food if the owners and workers are from the orient. The papaya salad: can't beat this! This is made EXACTLY like how I had it in Thailand. The sweetness from the fish sauce, the sourness of the papaya, the freshness of the tomatoes and crunch from the carrots and papaya. Mmmmmmm! Best appetizer and great to start off! I'd order this again and again! The chicken pad see ew: sweetness of the Thai dish is in there and the spice is great, it's just lacking the flavor profile. My least favorite of the three dishes. I went here just the other day with my boyfriend for a quick dinner before we headed home and it was such a great experience. we ordered a papaya salad laos style, tom yum soup, drunken noodles, and i got red curry with roti on the side(my favorite from what we ordered, everything was really good!). the lady gave us our appetizers first and mistakenly thought we wanted to eat our appetizers and entrees separately. after some waiting we realized her intention and just told her that we'd like to eat them together! she was sweet about it and felt so bad for having us wait, but it was not a problem at all. she apologized so many times (which wasn't even needed because the food was so delicious), she even offered us a free dessert! before we left, she noticed that i loved the roti and curry and had some leftover curry left so she packed me some extra roti to finish it with. it was very thoughtful and kind of her. fun fact: while we were eating, another customer was on his way out and told us about how much he loved the owners and was so happy to see us eating there because he loves this place so much! overall, my first time eating here was the best experience i could ask for, will be coming back for more!!! read more

My fiancé and I wanted to find a local Thai place that was reasonably priced and not too far from our place. We usually go to SukhoThai but they are pricey although good. We looked on my favorite app Yelp and looked at the photos and prices and decided to give them a try! We drove 6 miles to pick up our order to go. I was pleasantly surprised at the taste and amount of food you get for the prices! They do have better prices and you get your money's worth. The only thing that was wrong that was TOTALLY MY FAULT, was the spice level. I underestimate spice levels pretty often and I did once again with my Veggie PadThai that I ordered. I got a level 3 when I should've gotten a level 1...lol they have strong spice so if you just want a LITTLE KICK, I suggest getting a 1 or a 2. A 3 is going to make your eyes water and nose run like it did to me... lol My fiancé and I had the Veggie Spring Rolls and both were impressed. I've eaten in this location (same name different owners over the years) for over a decade. It's always a good spot for a variety of dishes that will please most palates. I had a their mango special last night and it was DELICIOUS. Big chunks of really ripe delicious mango with shrimp, scallops, pineapple and onions. YUMMM. My friends had the Pad Ginger with shrimp and the tofu red curry. All the dishes were super tasty and the veggies really fresh. Love the ginger in the pad ginger. The restaurant was not too crowded on a Thursday night at dinner time but there were a steady stream of people stopping in for takeout. The restaurant is small but well laid out and the staff is attentive without being pushy. I definitely need to place this spot back into regular rotation. read more
