Mango cashew with scallop and shrimp
    Emily M.

The roti with coconut curry sauce is awesome! The portion size for dishes is enough for leftovers, but the rice was undercooked and while I liked the mango cashew scallops and shrimp, I would've liked a finer chop on all the fruit and nuts so that each bite was more cohesive. Good spot for local delivery or when you need a quick bite on the go. The "fish dishes" are adorable, by the way.

Recommend? Not really. I got the crispy tofu and veggie pad cashew with wide noodles. None of their curries are vegan. The roti is served with red curry. Therefore it is not vegan. The crispy tofu had a really good crunch to it. I added wide noodles to the veggie pad cashew thinking they would cook the noodles with the pad cashew, but it was served on the side. It was totally not their fault I was being complicated. I didn't personally like the flavor, it was bit light. The dish was loaded with cashews though unlike some places I've had it at.

Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, Green Curry

We ordered the Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and Green Curry. Everything was really good- much better than Sukhothai. The woman who served us was very friendly and kind, she also grows some of the ingredients used in the food in her own garden- and you can tell how fresh the chilis are. We were there at around 8:30pm on a Friday night and our food came out fast. This place is right across the street from La Madeleine, next to Cooter Brown's. Highly recommend, looking forward to coming again

Fried rice, pad Thai, fresh rolls

Got takeout from here because pad Thai is my superstitious pre-test meal, and we were not disappointed. The food was packaged well and delivered warm by Door Dash. We got an order of shrimp and pork dumplings (nice, soft, moist and flavorful), fresh rolls (simple, not overly flavorful-came with 2 yummy sauces to dip though), beef salad (my least favorite-barely any salad, beef strips were a little dry), fried rice (awesome, tasty, good portion), pad Thai (also delicious, complex flavored and not overly sweet, good portion), and the red curry (possibly our favorite-rich and complex, slightly creamy, not overly spicy). We would definitely order again!

Came back to Bangkok Thai after many years and I ordered the standard Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai. The soup was good but not great, I can say the same about that Pad Thai. Summer special soft shell crab for $8 turned out to be a small buster crab and not an actual full size soft shell crab was a bit of a disappointment. The calamari appetizer was good but not great as well.

Volcano Chicken - "good for the kids" according to the waitress
    Jaime F.

I think this place serves more than decent Thai food. Tom Kha was good enough, though I think it could be a little more sour. I was expecting more from the volcano chicken-- it should have been crispier. However, the duck curry hit the right flavors and the duck was cooked very well. Despite being picky when it comes to Thai food, I enjoyed the dinner overall. To have Asian food in this part of town is a major plus as well (I seem to seek out Asian food in New Orleans.) The ambience is good, dimly lit, and peaceful. Yes, take your date here. The service is great. The food came out pretty fast compared to other places. Their menu is what would keep me coming back-- it seems to be pretty authentic and has a variety, rather than your typical pad thai and curry. I was surely eyeing down the pompano for next time. The only qualm is that it is pricy. The major dishes are around $15 each.

I went there at the beginning of the week for an early dinner. To my surprise, it wasn't busy at all. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I had the Panang Curry with chicken. It was a nice sized portion. It consisted of tons of vegetables and chicken. The sauce was delicious. It was served with a side of rice. The menu had lots of other rice and noodle dishes. I can't wait to go back and try them. I wasn't too happy with the parking situation. There was no place to park in the neighborhood!! I basically had to park on the rail road track. I had to jump a curb. Thank God my car was ok. I suggest carpooling or ubering.

    Tom yum soup- amazing

The food is good, and service is decent. Prices are a bit high. My husband loves the special chicken with the peanut sauce. I like the pad Thai, which I get with extra egg instead of meat or tofu. I would recommend it if you are in the area!

Always a good spot for some delicious curry and pad Thai. Recently dishes taste a little different, but still delicious. The restaurant is small and cute, a perfect little date spot.

I love the new lunch special here. It's $10.95 for your choice of pad Thai, basil, pad pak, yellow or green curry along with a small portion of one of the following appetizers: spring roll, fish cake, crispy tofu, satay chicken, or goong naree. I got beef pad Thai with goong naree and it was pretty good. Not the best pad Thai I've ever had but not bad. The goong naree was only okay. I'd probably pick something else next time. I also ordered chicken tom yum soup. The soup had really good flavor but way too many onions for my liking. The restaurant was very quiet and is very cute. Parking is a little tough. Service was good and everything came out quickly.

Though I am…read morehappy to get a chance to be the first to review Vintage Garden Kitchen on Yelp, because this is an absolute *gem* of a business, and everyone in the world needs to know about it. Yesterday afternoon, I saw a tweet reminding people to place orders before 4pm, because today (Wednesday) is the day they deliver - yes, that's right, deliver! - their jars of amazingly delicious, healthy, vegetarian-friendly, locally sourced, and [insert list of superlatives and synonyms for the word awesome] soup. Straight from their garden, via the kitchen, to your door. Thanks to the reminder on Twitter, I placed my order online yesterday afternoon for four pints of soup: Fiery Shiitake Mushroom and Barley; Moroccan Chickpea Stew; Rustic Vegetable Bean; and Vegan Lentils and Greens. Each pint comes in a re-usable mason jar, and when you collect six of those, you get a free pint of soup with your next order! Brilliant: it's savvy (saves the business money), and green, and convenient. There's so much win here that I'm having a hard time putting it into words. Long story sort: The Vintage Garden Kitchen is an Arc Enterprises Company, meaning that not only do they provide amazing food (AND DELIVER IT TO YOUR DOOR!), but also, in doing so they provide employment for adults with developmental disabilities. (They're one of the businesses run by the nonprofit Arc of Greater New Orleans.) I've seen the garden where they grow all the food that is used to make these amazing soups, and it blows my mind that food this fresh, this nutritious, and this beautifully convenient is available in New Orleans. But wait, it gets better: their food is shockingly affordable. A half pint of, say, Moroccan Chickpea Stew feeds 2 people, and costs $4.99. The minimum order for delivery is $15, so for four pints I paid about $22.00, and it was delivered the very next day. How. Awesome. Is. That. Seriously. They deliver every Wednesday between 10am and 2pm, and orders must be placed before 4pm on Tuesday to ensure delivery. They deliver to 70001, 70005, 70115, 70118, 70119 (yay!), 70124, and 70125. Again, the minimum order for delivery is $15 (so, approximately three pints, or two quarts, blah blah math and stuff). They take credit cards, it's easy to place an order online, and you can also order in two other ways. Either pre-order for pick-up (and you can come get your soups between 8am and 4pm M-F), or if you don't want to pre-order, you can simply stop by during business hours. Walk-ins are welcome, too! So...yeah. Amazing, amazing, amazing. I'm so glad the Vintage Garden Kitchen exists. I highly recommend you give them a try. Then you, too, can write your very own rave review of this freaking awesome local business. Well done, Vintage Garden Kitchen. Well done. And THANKS!

Some of my favorite are the Yellow Split Pea soup, Mushroom and Asparagus, Moroccan Chickpea Stew; Rustic Vegetable Bean, Roasted Buternut Squash, Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Sweet Roasted Pepper & Carrot, Veggie Tortilla Soup, Smothered Chicken with Rice & Greens - SO MANY GREAT SOUPS!!!! The location is a little out of the way, on Labarre south of Airline Highway across the railroad tracks, but definetly worth the trip!!!!

If you're craving bold flavors and a cozy spot that feels like a hidden gem, this place never disappoints--highly recommend for locals and visitors alike! The vibe here is warm and inviting, with simple, colorful decor that transports you straight to Cameroon or Gambia without leaving NOLA. It's a small, intimate space, perfect for a casual dinner or even a quick lunch amid the Quarter's hustle. Parking can be tricky on Royal Street, but it's worth the walk--plus, the location puts you right in the mix of historic charm and lively energy. Service is always spot-on: friendly, knowledgeable staff who make you feel like family. Our server chatted about the menu's inspirations and helped customize spice levels, which is great for anyone new to African dishes. Everything came out promptly, even on a busy evening, and they were attentive without hovering. Now, the food--oh man, where to start? It's all about that delicious, authentic goodness. My absolute go-to is the shrimp rice and spinach dish; the jollof rice is perfectly spiced with a rich tomato base, tender shrimp, and just the right kick, paired with sautéed spinach that's garlicky and fresh. It's hearty, flavorful, and reminds me of home-cooked comfort with an exotic twist. We also tried the plantains--crispy on the outside, soft inside--and the akara (black-eyed pea fritters) as starters, which were crispy, savory perfection. Portions are generous, and everything's made with fresh ingredients that shine through in every bite. If you're vegetarian, they've got plenty of options like the vegetable curry that pack the same punch. Prices are reasonable for the quality--entrees around $15-20--and it's BYOB, which keeps things affordable and fun. No frills, just straight-up deliciousness. As someone who's been coming here for years, Bennachin captures the essence of authentic African flavors in a way few places do. Whether you're a NOLA native like me or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop in--you'll leave planning your next visit!
