I've been to Bao Bao House twice, and have enjoyed it both times. The first time we tried two types of baozi- shanghai and beef curry, and the pork steamed dumplings. It was all delicious. I preferred the curry beef, my dad preferred the Shanghai. The texture of the meat in the Shanghai was off putting to me though. I liked the pork dumplings, so decided to try the wonton soup the second time. With cha sui bao. The broth on the soup was ok, I liked the mushrooms and greens. The wontons were really good too and I liked the bao. I wish the broth had a bit more flavor. This is a solid place though, definitely worth enjoying a meal here, especially if you can sit outside on a nice day! read more

This place used to be a pizza place called Ciao. I went for pizza and this place had a grand opening sign. Drove away, then stopped and looked at the reviews. Thank you fellow yelpers. I parked my car and went in. I blind ordered what sounded good after looking over the menu because there are no pictures. Ask the people if they have pictures and they'll show you. It made me choose the won ton soup and the picture was spot on. I normally doctor any won ton soup with a little soy because it's bland. About three spoonfuls of soup before adding anything, which I didn't, and the soy went back in the corner. I must have looked like I was starving when eating because they were fresh and hot and I just dug in and ate them. It was 100 degrees outside and I would still order the soup again in the same conditions. AMAZING!!! Bao Zi. Don't forget that. Many to choose from and I didn't know quite what to expect. What I got was this perfect little dumpling of shrimp and pork and a little broth wrapped in this Bao that is made fresh there as you order. Another AMAZING item. Not too much broth, meat/shrimp ball size inside filled the cavity. This was such a great meal that I ordered the Bao Char Siu bbq pork to go and ate one on the way to the hotel. Made fresh to order. Ordering this every time too. I will eat here every time I am in / or passing through the area, and being right off I-5, it will be super convenient. There isn't a ton of ambiance, and the service isn't perfectly fast, but the food does arrive within a reasonable amount of time. These bao are very good, and are good with the house vinegar. I actually discovered this place on a lark with my helper, and the helper was looking for a now-closed Italian restaurant. Both of us were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Yum! read more

We were driving through and I was going to make a pilgrimage to the Bao Bao House in Eugene, only to learn that there is now a second location in a much handier spot. So we stopped in. Tons of parking, lots of seating, and friendly staff. We got a variety of things to share. I thought both the shang hai pan-fried bao zi (with pork) and the curry beef pan-fried bao zi were equally delicious. My son got the cheese chicken bao zi, which he really liked (I also liked it, but not as much as the first two). These were made all the better by dipping them in a mixture of soy sauce and chili oil. One order (with 6 bao zi) was a solid portion for a meal, though I could always eat more if I really wanted to pig out. I'll definitely be back. read more

However, during our meal our server was seen numerous times picking his nose, cleaning out his ears and even picking his teeth at the register. All within public view and close proximity to the kitchen and food prep. At one point, he took a tooth pick, picked his teeth, set it on the counter at the register and then picked it back up to clean out his ears. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I am appalled and frankly grossed out. I should have left, but I hate public confrontation. Honestly so disappointed because I was looking forward to trying this place. Got an order to go and I will say that the server who took our order was very nice, but the beef potstickers and most of the pork buns tasted fermented and were so bad. The beef curry buns were good, but I only got to try one, so pretty much everything I ordered for myself was inedible. We waited about 25 minutes and paid $40 for food I can't eat. This location is borderline walking distance from where we live and we were both craving something different and decided on Bao Bao House. We started with the cucumber salad based on a recommendation from my friend Matt and he was spot on, they were delicious with a great flavor profile. We ordered several dishes and had to get the pork xiao long bao, pineapple seafood fried rice, steam handmade pork dumplings, cha siu bao, and hot and sour prawn noodles. All the food was delicious and the flavors were quite vibrant and looking around, the other patrons were pleased with the food they ordered. A couple that sat next to us ordered some of our dishes after seeing them on our table. I am such a fan of the original downtown location and have been hankering to visit their Springfield location at the first opportunity I had at getting out to that area. The Springfield location does not disappoint. It's a lot more spacious and a step up fancier than the sister Downtown Eugene location, but the food is just as good. I am a creature of habit so I went with what I always get, which is their vegetarian pan-fried Bao Zi. I'm obsessed with the smooth squishy texture of the bun to the savory saucy center of mushroom and spinach. One day, I plan on exploring other options of the menu. After looking at all the pictures and seeing it's a new location my son and I decided to have lunch here. When we first entered we were greeted by a cold welcome and the whole time there felt the same tone. We ordered the spicy chicken noodles, the mapu Tofu, and the chicken and cheese baoxi. The noodles were bland and were not spicy at all. The same was to be said for the chicken & cheese baoxi. They were fried really well, but just lacked flavor, with a little hint of salt from the cheese. The mapu Tofu had flavor, but the sauce felt as if it was not from scratch and had a profile as if it was premade from a jar. The only saving grace was that they had condiments like soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil to add some flavor and heat. Also price to portion could be better. The beef brisket noodles was so nourishing and rich! Tons of brisket with some tender and some chewy pieces. The pan fried Bao-zi is ALWAYS a must here, but the noodles were surprisingly delish too. Absolutely the BEST dumplings and noodles! We had wanted to try this place for so long and finally got our chance today. The decor is clean and stylish without being pretentious. The tables are HUGE and super comfortable. We started with the BBQ Pork which was so tender and flavorful. The mild flavor of 5-spice and ginger truly made this pork explode with flavor. Next we had the noodles with beef and pickled vegetables. Such a huge portion and again full of so much intense flavor. The dumplings were amazing as I love a great dumpling. We had the steamed long bao, a soup dumpling with layers of flavor! We also had the Triple Delight dumplings as well. Such layers of flavor starting with the pork, then the sweetness of the shrimp and ginger with that hint of herbaceous from the fresh chives. And lastly, the service was top notch. Super friendly and willing to explain the menu. Our server clearly had a passion for this food, which is such a lost in the dining experience these days. We went for a late dinner after spending the evening at the Olympic Trials and were famished. It was a little intimidating ordering random things not really knowing what we were getting as the menu doesn't have pictures or much explanation. But our gamble paid off and everything was delicious! The cold pepper beef noodles were so refreshing and filling. The shredded chicken was tasty but could have used noodles or rice, and the bao was good the beef curry especially good. Nearly the same as their downtown Eugene location, but with much more seating capacity. This place is very conveniently located and has ample parking. The food tastes just as good as ever, with many vegetarian and non vegetarian options available. I love the beef curry bao myself. The new custard bao buns were amazing and we will definitely be stopping by for those again! The servers and owner were very hospitible and checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying everything. The owner was kind and took the time to explain some of the menu items to my party who had questions. We were a little concerned when we showed up as the place looked like a strip-mall chain store. However, the food was excellent! Definitely handmade, and I think pretty authentic. There were two of us and we ordered red bean bao, soup dumplings, a beef noodle soup, a mixed set of steamed dumplings, and fresh-pressed unsweetened soy milk. We expected plates of 4 or six, like a strip-mall sushi place, but we WERE WRONG! 10 dumplings a plate, six steamed bao, a huge bowl of soup, and a milkshake tin's worth of soy milk!
