This is a good place to get some good food. We were greeted and immediately seated. While my friend and I were having a conversation, we waited for the appetizer to arrive. It did take a while, but we didn't mind. The wrong appetizer came out after the entreé, but that was cool as well. Our waiter was cool, so we gave grace. They quickly rectified the situation. The food was really good, but it was REALLY SPICY LOL. We ordered the braised fish soup. If you are not a spicy food eater, please do not order this dish. I like spicy food and it was too spicy for me. I'll go back, but will definitely try something else on the menu lol. The esthetics were nice. You can also eat outside in the back, but we decided to sit inside.

During a recent visit to Atlanta, I stopped by Jia Szechuan in Ponce City Market. I've always loved the energy of Ponce--so many great restaurants, pastry shops, and boutiques all in one lively spot. Jia caught my eye for a quick bite with my dad. The restaurant itself is multicultural, but the two employees we interacted with happened to be Latino--like me. I placed our order in Spanish, hoping for a warm moment of connection. Instead, I was met with a cold, dismissive attitude. The staff member told us to come back in 15 minutes. When I returned (after waiting even longer), a young Latina woman was now at the counter. I politely asked if our order was ready, but she also seemed uninterested and walked off. Eventually, another employee helped us out. The food was okay--we took it to go. But the experience stuck with me. As a Latina, it's disappointing to feel dismissed by people from your own community, especially when you approach with respect. I truly hope it was just an off day and that Tasty Jia offered customer service training to its employees. Based on other reviews and my own experience, though, I'm not sure I'd return. Ponce Market is still worth visiting--there's so much to explore and enjoy. I just wish the service at Jia had matched the vibe of the place.

My partner and I stopped in to order the Hot Numbing Tofu Skin ($11). Even though we were the only customers, it took a while for our server to acknowledge us. When we finally placed our order, she informed us of a $12-per-person minimum for dine-in. However, she said the policy doesn't apply to takeout. We opted to get the appetizer to go, but less than a minute later she returned to say they had run out of tofu skin. It felt questionable given that the restaurant had just opened for the day. It felt like we would've been able to order it if we had committed to spending more money.

Overall 3.5 Stars Located in Ponce City Market's Food Court, this Chinese restaurant specializes in Szechuan dishes. Ambiance - 3.5 stars There are limited inside tables and bar seating but the outside has a few more tables however it was hot outside so opted for inside seating. Service: 4 stars Our server was attentive, helpful and efficient. She made sure our water was filled without prompting her and brought the entrees quickly. Food: 3.5 - 4 Stars We ordered three dishes. 1. Szechuan noodles with chicken - 3.75 Stars - the noodles were wonderful and has the right amount of chewiness. The chicken was tendered but was thinly sliced. The chili sauce was hot but not overwhelming. However the dish had more oil than expected. 2. Dan Dan Noodles with beef - spicy level. Again the noodles were wonderful Al dente style and chewy. The diced beef and chili soy sauce had a well balanced flavor with the green onions and peanuts. It wasn't vinegary as the Szechwan noodles. Xiao Long Bao - 3 Stars The steamed Bao (dumplings) were ok. The breading was a little thick for me likening and the ratio of the pork filling to the dough was off. Didn't have enough meat ratio and the pork juice was minimal in the dumpling itself. When you bite into a dumpling, there should enough juice that it can fill a spoon full. The pork green onion mixture was flavorful however the dough stood out more. I would probably come again to try some other options.

Chinese food isn't my favorite cuisine so that may factor into my opinion but this food was okay/good. Nothing wowed me but it wasn't bad at all either. I wanted to try something authentic and got a recommendation from our waitress. She was nice and helpful. The ambiance was okay.. could have been better but I also wasn't expecting much either in that regard. Overall an okay experience.

Tasty China Jia is a good dinner spot. The food tastes good and there's a good amount to pick from. The prices are pretty high which is why I'm not giving them 5 stars. The service was good and we are outside which was nice.

Braised Szechuan Beef Noodles - or the braised beef short rib ramen noodle bowl 10/10
    Sweetie Z.

I will be completely honest the servers were kinda hit or miss but Jake the manager is absolutely amazing almost as great as the Braised Szechuan Beef Noodles - or the braised beef short rib ramen noodle bowl absolutely 10/10 I'd highly recommend it. It's really good actually one of the best meals to have in PCM for the price and amount of food - it's heavy. Not the restaurant inside is tight but there is ample seating all over PCM, some seating directly inside and outside of their patio area. The broth is warm and slightly spicy as someone who cannot take too much spice it was absolutely delicious. The chilis didn't bother at all. The beef was lift with chopsticks fall off the bone tender, well seasoned and a perfect combination with the noodles - tbh I can't wait to return for round 3.

Went here with my boyfriend's family during their visit to Atlanta. We were really hungry after spending the day walking at the Botanical Garden. We decided on Jia after seeing that they had some different protein options compared to the other food spots at Ponce City Market. We were sat pretty quickly which was nice but that's about where the nice experience ended. First off, the menus are strange as each page is in a different orientation plus they have so many plate options you find yourself flipping around the menu. I compared it to an origami Cheesecake Factory menu. Eventually, we were all able to decide on our option for the evening. We started out with Spring Rolls for the table. They brought out only the plate with Spring Rolls and no additional small plates! The rolls were freshly fried so they were hot. It was very uncomfortable to share that small plate as 4 people. Then we had our dinner entrees. The food came out at really varying pace which wasn't great because I wait for everyone to get their food before eating. The server asked if we got Mapo Tofu and I raise my hand and the just dropped it in front of his parents and left. When my bf's dad got his Dry Fried Chicken plate he complained that it was too sweet to eat. My bf tried it and agreed. We asked to switch the plate since he didn't like it and the waitress had to ask the manager. The manager then proceeded to peek at us through the entranceway making it an uncomfortable experience yet again. She did come back after a few minutes and asked what he wanted and he just went with Beef and Broccoli since that's what his wife got and she didn't provide the menu again. My boyfriend got the Beef Short Rib and the waitress did ask if he was fine with spicy. He said yes clearly not knowing that Spicy meant a plate of 50% peppers. There were literally more peppers than beef and the Jalapeños were sliced to look like green peppers lending everyone in the party to bite straight into hot peppers. As for my dish, I actually liked it! I'm a tofu fanatic and I will say it was super spicy but it still had flavor. I paired it with the fried rice that smelled a little like feet. But dipping the fried rice in the soup made it edible. They did good with this dish in my opinion. Overall, it was moreso the experience of dining in more than the food that made this unpleasant. It honestly kind of soured an otherwise wonderful day. Don't be a sit down spot if you're not going to put any effort into serving your patrons. The food is decent but beware of the spice!! I'd recommend just taking this to go and eating in one of the public areas if you want Chinese at Ponce City Market. If not, check out one of the other joints! Just as good food with way better service.

Fried Rice seemed stale and over cooked. Wouldn't get this again. Next I tried the General Tso's Chicken and added beef and shrimp and this was pretty tasty with added flavor. I think that flavorful combination would pair well with the white rice. I sat at the bar and didn't order any drinks but a lot of people sit for the drinks since it's a pretty touristy location in ponce city market. I had great service with my water staying full and any request such as added sauces came quickly. With all the different spots around I think this place is worth a try for sure

It was certainly tasty. But not 5 stars tasty. It's one of the few places open late in the place. It's in the middle of everything and only looks to have a handful of tables which adds to the mystic. It's low lighting which makes the atmosphere intimate. The smells were okay. We were seated right by the kitchen and thought it would be stronger. We came towards the end of the night and I ordered three things and each time the waitress came back to tell me that they were out. Finally I went with the garden duck and egg fried rice. My fourth choice turned out to be not half bad. I was actually really happy with it but there was other things on the menu that I don't normally get and sounded delicious. Shame I didn't get to experience it. I'll give it a 3 stars because the staff was okay (they seemed ready to be done for the night), they were out of everything I really wanted. Being next to the kitchen was also kinda annoying. It made it loud. Their alcohol selection was below average. The food was a four star however. And I'd recommend them for that. But the whole experience was a little lacking.

I am not completely sure why this place was only served 3 stars but it was by far some of the freshest Chinese food I've tasted in a while! Here's my review: Location: This place is located inside of PCM (Ponce City Market) Parking: Parking is paid only. No exceptions outside of the 30 mins free parking but make sure you are SURE it's not one of those spaces or you will get booted or towed! Atmosphere: PCM is like your local food market.. everything is hustle and bustle! If you enjoy this vibe you should be fine. Most of the restaurants some of their seating is right out in front viewing all the people going by. This particular restaurant was nestled in the middle of the food market. I was greeted and served right away. The decor and everything was perfect made me feel like I was on the streets of china eating local food! The food came FAST and was A LOT! It was very good no complaints from flavor. We also order drinks and surprise! Strong but tasty! I have nothing but good praises from this place. They use toast kiosks so your checkout is fast and can be contactless! I don't have any tips or anything as everything was amazing lol Our waitress was good too - she seemed new and didn't know the menu well but again she was kind and came back with the correct things the first time. This one has been added to my go to for Ponce city market!

As for the food, I usually tend to be fairly generous in my ratings, but on the day I visited, the dishes were noticeably salty. The seafood noodle soup, jajangmyeon, and fried rice were all saltier than expected. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but this part was a bit disappointing. That said, the overall experience was still decent, and I hope the seasoning is more balanced on my next visit.

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

The mapo tofu was very rich in flavor, it had the spiciness but also held the body of the black bean flavor without being oily. So far our favorite mapo tofu in the area. They're a bit pricy but certainly worth it given the size and quality. We didn't need a reservation, so you can usually just walk in. We often also get takeout from here.
