Great place to pick up quick and hot lunch to go. Ordered the pan fried pork buns and steamed dumplings. $12.95 each. The pan fried buns came with chili oil and the dumplings with soy sauce. Took 10 mins. Was planning to wait until I got to the park to enjoy the sun but the dumpling smelled too good and wound up scaring them down in the car. A lot of selections in the menu... planning to return to try a few other dishes in the coming weeks. Dining in seems like a very comfortable option with spaciousness between tables and clean spaces. read more

I recently saw a comment that Wonder Wok had excellent Mapo Tofu. So I wanted to try it... Service was ok... The gentleman that helped me was very nice... and friendly. I ordered Mapo, and it came with some steamed rice. I ordered it with Medium Heat, since this my first time here, and I have no idea what their spice levels are like. My Mapo had just the tiniest bit of spice... not much at all. I tried the chili oil that was on the table... and found it lacking in heat also, but flavor was ok. Mapo was decent... not very MA LA for those know the term... hardly any numbing Sichuan peppercorn in it that I could taste. So this is more of an Americanized version.... not the Chengdu version. Lots of sauce, and a good portion of tofu... enough that I brought over half home with me for later. Rice was ok... edges were kind of dry, so it was not super fresh. But I would eat here again... there are a lot of traditional Sichuanese dishes on the menu, and they even have meat skewers that I will have to try. Next time I will order HOT (extra Ma La)... and see if that does the job. read more

SLOW down people, and clean the damn shrimp properly; that is just nasty. Extensive menu, which is nice. I don't understand the French fries in the shrimp hot pot, but I liked them. It's an unspoken rule to be wary of a quiet Chinese restaurant. But my friends and I wanted to give Wonder Wok the benefit of the doubt since it was still relatively early on a Sunday (maybe people were still at church?). We were seated promptly (we had the pick of the place), and our orders were taken quickly. We ordered the beef chow fun and the eggplant in hot garlic sauce. As soon as the chow fun came out, I knew I was going to be a bit disappointed: the light brown coloring immediately indicated that the chef hadn't used enough sauce. It still had decent flavor, but wasn't what I had hoped for. The eggplant had 2 "chili" symbols next to it on the menu, so I was bracing myself for moderate heat. It must have been a 10 chili rating because the spice was so mild I barely noticed it. The flavor was good and it was very saucy (they put bell peppers in for some reason?) Ultimately, it's 3 stars and we'll be going elsewhere to satisfy our Chinese food cravings. read more

Classic Chinese with some innovations. Not many places have the variety of standard Chinese and some extras like DanDan noodles and a selection of dry pot dishes. Very generous portion sizes. The service was a little slow as the server seemed to be stretched a little too much. Even so, the service was fine and nothing was forgotten. We've been here a few times lately since Noodle and Cafe changed owners (I want to give them some time before we try them again). Wonder Wok is the type of Chinese food that I like. Not too Americanized but something everyone in my family enjoys. We usually do takeout. We really enjoy the chow fun noodles and have been getting them each time. We tried the mu shu pork last time and that was fun. There were only about six pancakes that looked handmade but there never seem to be enough for how much filling there is! The yang zhou fried rice had the shrimp and ham chopped up small which worked well with the fried rice. The ham felt more like spam and didn't seem to have as much flavor. I was very excited to see that they had walnut shrimp but I was confused by what I got. Instead of the white sauce that usually comes with it, it seemed to be a sweet and sour sauce and there were bell peppers mixed in. I personally don't care for bell peppers so I was disappointed. We also got the orange chicken in the past and it came packaged separately from the sauce. It had more of a battered breading instead of the usual breading and the sauce was sort of like thickened orange syrup. We'll pass in the future. Overall, we like this place. Most dishes are $13-$17. They have a nice range of dishes and we'll probably keep trying things until we find our favorites. Ordering online is very convenient but it's tricky when the dishes don't have descriptions. Some do have a photo next to them though. read more

We went into this restaurant with a trained medic alert service dog, in a vest, and were immediately asked "will the dog be loud?" After informing the waitress that no, he is working and fully trained by an agency, we were told we'd be set on the other side of the restaurant where the lights were turned off, "because of the dog" and "there are people over there" (while motioning to the other side). We will not be back. When ordering, I pointed at the picture of what I wanted but the waitress brought something else. She would not replace it or take it off the bill. The food was ok. No complaints about what we actually ordered. But to refuse to replace your mistake instead of making a client happy will cost them any future business from us. I'm baffled at how many good ratings there were for this place. I went there because of the ratings, and should have known better by the empty restaurant when we arrived. I'm not picky and I had a very hard time eating any of it. Most was left behind and we left still hungry. We also ordered a pot of oolong tea, it was an entire pot with one tea bag, the tea was so clear it almost looked like straight water, it tasted/smelled like chlorine. One of my favorite Chinese places in Eugene. They serve super authentic Chinese dishes. We went there for a late night dinner. We arrived at 9 pm and they are still open for dine in! The foods' quality wasn't compromised for ordering this late. All foods were served fast and they are yummy! Their food portion is huge and one dish can easily feed two person! Even after the 7 minute drive home, they were still piping hot. Also, the menus says you get three, but when I got home, my order had four. Can't complain about that! I also ordered the combo thin rice noodles: vermicelli, thin sliced pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, and egg whites stir fried in oil with veggies like carrots, onions, cabbage, and green onions. This is a really mild dish, but somehow it's still flavorful. When I pulled it out of the bag, it felt SO heavy, so I weighed it: 48 ounces, nearly THREE POUNDS of food. Wow! So for $12, that is a great value. It really tastes like Wonder Wok has found their groove since my first visit! read more
