For claiming to be one of the hot spots in Miami it was a disappointing experience. To start off no valet parking and street parking is hard to find. So ladies either you get dropped off in front of the restaurant and wait for your husbands, male companions or friends that you came with or walk all dressed up wearing high hills down Collins avenue. The entrance to the restaurant looks like you are entering an old motel with no one to greet you until you pass this long long hallway. The place opens at 7pm and arriving 5 minutes before our reservation was a big mistake since the main hostess (there were 5 of them) was an obnoxious and rude individual asking us to come back at exactly 7pm because they were still setting up the place. Bad tactic, learn manors! You are there to keep customers happy, just a bad first impression. Proceeding to the table we were offered to sit outside where the cushions of the seats were all wet (guess not such a good job "setting up") and the floors had puddles of water as well. We opted for the table inside. Anything positive ? Yes, the food was excellent and the service from our waiter was good, could have been a little more friendlier but oh well, it's Miami. Decor seems to be already slightly dated, with all the dark colors and mirrored columns in the middle of the restaurant. Crowd... Ugh.. so so.. a lot of trashy looking girls and overweight older bald guys ....maybe it was wrong to come on a Saturday night. If you go here's a few suggestions. Octopus salad very good, salmon tartar excellent, crispy and spicy tuna very good. Salad as a special very good. The bouillabaisse was good. Bronzino very good. Another special - mix of 4/5 different kinds of meat ( $200 ) was very good but pork was too dry. Creme brûlée was excellent. Green tea tiramisu was beautiful but tasteless. Be careful with the water, the waiters keep poring it whether you want it or not, we were charged $60 for water. Overall glad we came ... We tried .... We saw. Would I come back ...? Probably not. I came here for dinner with a group of people to celebrate a friends bday on Saturday night. We got there around 9:45pm, and were seated immediately (we had reservations). The place is very chic, I loved the decor and how half was indoor and the other half was an outdoor patio area. The service, the food and the drinks were all very delicious and the music was loud and good, they played a nice mix. I feel like this is the perfect place to celebrate something fun. One of the best places I have gone in terms of environment. The food? It's OK, could be better, but not bad. We had reservations for Saturday @ 10pm and were seated relatively fast. We were expecting to wait, but to our surprise, everything moved quickly. We headed towards our table outside and wow, the vibe is out of this world. If someone wants to see what Miami is all about, this is the place you bring them! You're literally having dinner at a club. Our waitress was efficient and friendly and did her best to accommodate our large party. Drinks arrived in a timely manner and although food took quite a while, all dishes were worth the wait. Was the food amazing? Definitely not, but I guess this place is all (or more) about the environment and vibe you get while you're having dinner and drinks. I must say: truffle mac & cheese and truffle fries were cooked to perfection. My reason for the 4 stars? What a buzz kill when the check arrived. We had told our waitress to make separate checks and she didn't separate it correctly. We spent one hour trying to pay and do it correctly. Bâoli was THE least impressive meal I've had in Miami on all points. Nice decor/music and clean restrooms are the only positives I can muster up. The waitress informs me that the restaurant no longer carries the Berry Basil Smash cocktail (I just had one during my 40 minute reservation wait). She goes and asks, they can make it. 4. 10:41pm our drinks arrive, the ice is nearly melted. My drink has no basil. His drink is incorrect as well. 5. We put in the burrata appetizer (which I'll say was tasty, but not the best and definitely not a $24 caliber burrata dish). The server insists that we order all our courses at this time "because they are really busy". 6. 10:54pm our burrata arrives, we have no utensils. 11:04pm our sushi arrives. It's also rather dry and lackluster for the price point. 7. 11:07pm I order another drink - their signature Spicy Paloma. They are 86 this drink, so I order a pear-flavored option. 11:20pm we ask the server to check the status of my drink. At this point I'm regretting ordering it and honestly just want the check. I watch the waitress and a manager confusedly pass my drink around, the server finally drops it off at 11:25. Like most South Beach places, the main focus is on the ambiance and crowd rather than the food and service. Baoli is more of a lounge where people come to be seen than anything else it claims to be. If I were to rate this place as an eating establishment, it would get 1 star. The portions are tiny, the quality is subpar, and the prices are unreasonably high. That's south beach for ya! After 11:00 pm on Wednesdays, this place gets packed for their "My boyfriend is out of town" event. The music gets loud, the bar is set on fire, and definitely tries to turn into a club while people are still eating. The outdoor area is nice and equipped with a bar. Had a reservation that we were running a little late to - tried calling to let them know but couldn't get in touch with anyone. We walked in to an underwhelming environment that was less crowded than expected for a Saturday night when the hostess tells us she gave our table away (5 mins after the grace period). She said we could wait and they'd put us on the waitlist. We waited at the bar and paid $30 for a too-sweet cocktail that was mostly ice. 40 mins later, we saw there were plenty of empty tables and several available reservations online for the current time so we asked for an update and were told 5-10 mins - they had a bad attitude, were rude and didn't make eye contact. 20 mins later and an entire hour of waiting, they said we wouldn't be seated and that they would waive the $100 no show fee, since we showed up and weren't given a table. I understand having to show up at a certain time, but canceling a reservation 5 mins past the grace period when there were plenty of tables available (AND OPEN RESERVATIONS) and then not giving us an update for an hour is absolutely unacceptable and extremely poor hospitality. We heard this place was "all the rage" so we decided to try it. Nothing great. Food was just okay. Nothing special. Waiter told us the entrees were a la carte so we ordered a couple of appetizers. This was my second visit to Baoli, and I have to say, the food is good, the atmosphere is cool, the decoration is nice. As for the food, it's pretty good. With that being said, don't come in expecting a three star Michelin cooked meal because you'll be very disappointed. Nevertheless, if you're looking to have a fun night (especially Wednesday's) at a nice restaurant, with a cool atmosphere and decently cooked food then Baoli is a good option. Our waiter (never received his name because he didn't speak, literally at all) was very inattentive, constantly on his phone, and had no initiative to take care of us. What's not to love. Baoli reminds me of a NYC hot spot. The ropes outside, well dressed and beautiful crowd, always booked solid, and high priced drinks. But honestly, those are always the best places and who doesn't love a hot spot. So interestingly enough I came with 2 older guest, we were all in town for a work meeting and love good food. And although older they are always down for a good time. Not their typical scene, but one of my favorite places in Miami, and the sushi is amazing and so fresh. We came on the Russian New Year with no true reservation, but got seated as a favor. We decided to sit at the bar, we are all flexible and dinner is dinner wherever you sit. We went early, around 8pm. The dance crowd had not arrived yet. The service was good. The manager accommodating. But the sushi is why we come!!! We started with the tempura Maine lobster and Tuna tartare. Had the Sushi sampler platter, chef's choice. And ended with Creme brûlée. All of it was good. The platter was perfect for 3 people. All in all this was a fun experience. I was a bit underwhelmed by all the hype that this restaurant gets but I'll elaborate. We rolled up in a limo that I got for my friends birthday which made the whole nights experience better. We arrived and right when we walk outside the door a group of severely intoxicated guys trying to live the glorified "Miami lifestyle" were outside trying to make things awkward. Not a big deal, I had the situation handled but might be nice to have a bit more security outside to control that type of situation so a large group of guests doesn't have to before we even get in the front door. That being said, the doorman was extremely kind, very generous, and even apologized for the situation, which he didn't have to do (can't recall his name but it was on Saturday night 2/6/2021 @ 7pm Baoli should be sure and thank him again for me I appreciated that). The ambiance of the restaurant is nothing short of absolutely incredible. It's a VERY beautiful place that is EXTREMELY well kept and it's easy to see why it's one of the best places to go in Miami for dinner/instagram pics/etc. The place starts to get a great vibe at roughly 8pm when the DJ begins to play and sets the mood even more. We were brought to our table, a great view in the back corner on an elevated surface for our group which I loved (inside btw). But honestly I didn't see a spot that I wouldn't have minded being sat at, they set the place up nicely for this purpose. Menu selection was pretty decent, although the menu prices changed dramatically from a $40 wagyu fried rice mix (a friend got this, also very good lol); to a $200-$400 chef's special which you didn't know exactly what you were getting and perhaps I'm just inherently skeptic but I prefer to know exactly what I'm eating first before I make that purchase. The only issue I really had all night was that it took a bit longer than it should've to order with our waiter and the food did not come at the same time for everyone. (Some people might not think this is a big deal in modern days but to me I expect a nice restaurant to present everyone's dishes at the exact same time because I'll wait until everyone is served before even touching my dish, and that is the reason for the 4 star review which I thought about making a 3 star review but everyone makes mistakes and it was my first time here so I didn't think they deserved that level of criticism, especially with how nice the staff was in general). Drinks - Delicious Food - very very good and just as it should be, absolutely no complaints here Ambiance - incredible Service - not perfect that night but I imagine it's not always like that, also staff was incredibly nice, even took pictures for us while they were busy. No sign or light to indicate where actually is the entrance. If you have never been there you struggle to figure out why the doors are shut and a narrow hallway with no mentioning of the place at some point out of the view is the actual entrance. We were under waiter attack and none of them they were mannered or welcoming. It was like they were in some kind of quota/target. We had just sat and ordered a starter (10 seconds top) when aggressively were asked if we were ready to order more. We were the 4th table in the place, it was semi deserted. I ordered a cocktail it came warm as the fridge had not invented yet. I was asked how was it, I expressed my complaint and one of the oak waiter didn't know what to do. I requested some ice, it was delivered in a tight glass with nothing to grab it. So hands down I go... My wife wants to walk out and I push for getting some additional food and give them another shot. The most sub par nigiri I had ever, even at the San Jose airport is better and larger in size. Tasteless and small. We called for the check as the disappointment grew to the point of non return. The waiter (2) when heard from the server that I had requested the check assumed that I don't understand Spanish and mocked us for leaving earlier. The bill was 100 USD for a crevice, 6 pieces of nigiri (small!) and a drink that besides being warm as piss was spilled on the way to the table. The environment looks pretty nice. Me and my friends had a reservation for a table, but when we got there we decided to sit at the bar since there was no availability for a table outside. This was my first time sitting at the bar at Baoli and it was a great experience. We didn't expect much at first, since you don't usually get the same service at the bar than at the table. Sophia was our bartender that evening, and she was SO helpful and nice! Not only she prepared the best drinks ever, but we also had a lot of fun! Horrible service, our waiter was horrible and was so rude. His name was Phillip and we said we didn't want one dish because we couldn't eat raw and he made this horrible face and gave a huge sigh. Then he kept telling us how the kitchen closed after we told him we understand. He made sure to tell us the kitchen closed 3 times. I also had a piece of black whatever in my water but to get someone's attention is the worst. The waiters need to pay more attention to their tables. This is just a hangout with a kitchen... The music is good, could be loud. The bar outside in the terrace takes a really long time for someone to acknowledge you, you better know someone at the bar to get helped. If you go in a big group, make sure you mention to the waiter that you want split bills. Otherwise, they will not split after and will give you a nasty attitude about it. Our 10pm reservation was not called for seating until 10:37. When they showed us our table, it was a makeshift table that we saw them put together by the bar, and where all the service staff kept walking with food, ice buckets, etc. Upon refusing to sit there, they proceeded to make us wait another 30 minutes only to seat us in a secluded booth in the back. This was my second visit to Baoli in South Beach for dinner .. I've been for event and drinks but only one other time for a meal.. in contrast to my prior visits.. i came on a Saturday night which was 300% busier than any other time i have been to Baoli.. (now the funny thing about this place is that it has element of south beach that I've grown tired of in my post college years, but for some reason it never bothers me at this place. Yes if you come late there is a velvet rope with a doorman, the Maître d' staff is a little extra trendy with an air of pretentiousness.. but its not overly obnoxious ) We came with a group of 15 for a birthday. As soon as our party arrived we were seated quickly. The wait staff was very efficient and responded quickly to any needs that we had. My glass of water never dropped lower than 1/3 empty.. which is impressive for a packed restaurant and a table with such a large group. Everyone was very happy with their meal. I ordered steamed vegetables and quite possibly the best Skirt Steak I have ever eaten. It was 10oz and between that , the vegetables, and the little bread that i had before our meal I was stuffed. Paying the bill also went of without a hitch. The food tasted great and the only negative thing I have to say is that the music was very loud so it was hard to hear dinner conversation. But to be fair, it also didn't help that we got there so late so dinner service was transitioning into their night club format. So I decided to give Baoli one more chance, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was our waiter a guy that looked like he walked out of a GQ magazine, but he was very attentive and helpful. His name Flo FYI ;) As soon as I would put my cup down, he was ready to fill it with more water EVERY time. I ordered a skirt steak and truffle fries, and to my delight the fries were hot! What a concept. But really, they were actually delicious this time around. My boyfriend ordered the organic airline chicken with truffle Mac and cheese. I had a piece of it, of course, and the chicken was amazing. The Mac and cheese was good too but I would've preferred it a bit thicker when you get to the middle and bottom of the bowl.
