I've always loved the Peking Duck Buns dish at weddings, so I was really excited to try this place! It is right next to Lien Hoa, which is more of a butcher shop specializing in BBQ Pork and Duck. I assume they've re-branded and opened a new place in order to make it more appealing to the general public, which is a great idea. Between the 3 of us, we ordered the Duck($4), Boss (braised pork belly), and Bolsa Bun(crispy belly) ($3.50 each), as well as the Rib Eye and Egg($7.50), and Salt and Pepper Wings($4.50 for 6 pieces). The Buns were a good size, not as tiny as I'd expect them to be. The duck was meaty, and the other two were fatty and melted. The RibEye and Eggs was a rice dish, very similar to the Shaken Beef dish in many Vietnamese restaurants. The Ribeye was tender, and went well with the rice and eggs. You can't go wrong with that. The wings were seasoned well, and was crispy and juicy! Overall, a good experience here. I would come back, and maybe try another rice dish. ++Good Food. All of the dishes were good ++Well Priced. Came out to be around $25 between 3 people. We were all pretty full afterwards -Small interior. Might want to consider ordering to go -------HORRIBLE PARKNG (had to give this a bazillion negatives). Do not come here during lunch on a weekend. This plaza is horrendous (Vietnamese supermarket, boiling point, boiling crab, Rite aid, Starbucks...etc). If you do decide to get this for lunch on a weekend, FOR SURE order to-go. Also, come here with two people so one person can run in to pick up the food, and you don't have to search for parking. read more

I love Baos Hog. The restaurant is rather small. I would not suggest dining in if your part is larger than 2-4 people. The food was prepped sooner than no time because the meal doesn't require any real cooking. I got the Duck Bao while my boyfriend got the Boss Bao. Both were really good but I have to say my duck bao won. The duck was rather juicy and I loved having the crunch of a cucumber in every bite along with the duck sauce. I don't know what the hype is about this place. I am almost certain Baos Hog is a modernized extension of the same Chinese BBQ place next door. Hints include the guy at the cash register with the Lien Hoa on his hat and the line inbetween the restaurant signs. We got the Duck, Bolsa, and Boss baos. The duck bao was like an enhanced peking duck bun. Not bad, but also not something special. The Bolsa bao has crispy pork belly in it - almost tooth breaking hard. I have never eaten skin so difficult to bite through! The Boss bao was pretty fatty and everything gets lost in the sriracha mayo. TLDR: Good to try once, but nothing too crazy and IMO not worth it. Firstly, you guys stole my idea for a business. It's a great idea. We had a sampling of 4 of their Baos. The best one overall was their "Bolsa Bao", which is crispy pork belly on a bed of pickled carrots,cucumbers, daikon, a healthy dose of hoisin sauce, and folded in a steamed rice bun. This hit all the flavor profiles from sweet to savory to sour and grounded out nicely by the bun. The bun is always the hardest part to get right since most places make them and let them sit around, which, of course, allows the buns to harden. We also had their Hainan Chicken and rice. The rice complemented the chicken nicely with a hit of ginger/garlic. The dipping sauce brought it all together and tasted like some mixture of ginger/pineapple. It sounds weird but it was actually pretty tasty. Overall, delicious. But the baos are $3.50 a pop. That's a bit pricey in my opinion. If these are like 2 for $5. I think they'd be killing it. read more

Growing up as a kid I remembered coming to this plaza a lot with my parents, so it was interesting to see how this place changed when comparing it to my childhood experience to coming here as an adult. Parking still sucks and the people still can't drive, oh nostalgia. This shop is still fairly new, about 3 months old, compared to other stores and cater to the young adults crowd and to non-Vietnamese people also. Approaching Baos Hog from the parking lot you can easily find it, they stick out like a sore thumb but in a good way. Compared to their neighbors they are very modern thus attracting the younger crowd. The interior is very simple with stainless steel tables and a big chalk board with their menu on it. Most of the baos cost about $3-4 and are about slider size, not as small as one would expect. I've have been there twice and tried about four different baos and I have to say the Bolsa and Duck were best tasting while Chaisu and Cow was ok. I would recommend the Bolsa or Duck for first timers or just get a rice plate. The bbq chicken rice plate was well cooked and the meat to rice ratio was about 2:1 which I would recommend to anything who wants something more filling. As for drink options go they have soda and their speical chillers. I tried the watermelon chiller and it was just watermelon puree so I would just get a regular drink instead of the chillers. Quick wrap up, anything pork or duck is worth getting here and rice plates are the better overall value but skip the chillers. read more

This is a really cool concept, and represents a sector of food that is underrated as far as gastropub restaurants go. Don't underestimate the portions, because they do end up being filling! I ended up getting rice with roast duck in addition to the Bao Bolsa. I really loved both (maybe Bao Bolsa a little more)! My cousin got the hainan chicken and he liked it but you should know that their sauce doesn't exactly taste like the traditional sauce that is more sweet. Ordered the duck bao and it was delicious! It's the perfect combination with all the garnish . I haven't tried the others, but I'm sure they all would be good as well. It can make you quite thirsty & their watermelon chiller is just the perfect fit for there bao. It's very refreshing. read more

A nice fusion joint. Its kind of a small place but the food is pretty bomb. I got the hainan chicken with dark meat. I love the sauce which tasted gave it like a sweet garlicky taste. For its price its not bad. The reason why Im giving it a 4 star is because the chicken could've been just a bit more tender. It was still good though! read more

So glad I finally got to check this place out. It's in a freakin impossible plaza with crazy drivers and pedestrians everywhere. But, if you're willing to brave it, it's definitely worth a trip. I got the Baos and CharSiu and they were both delicious. They bao is bigger than you would normally get (think corn tortilla taco size) so two was enough to satisfy me. The flavors of the bao and the stuffing complemented each other perfectly. We also ordered a side of the fried dumplings, which were delicious as well. Always a go to when it's comes to pork belly. The pork belly is so fatty and the skin is super crispy and a bit salty, I love it so much. I recently tried their fries with pork belly. At first I thought it was a bit steep in pricing in comparison to the rest of their menu, but man was I wrong. The serving size for the fries was huge! I couldn't finish it by myself, I was only able to eat half. Generally, the portions for Bao Hog is large, even with just the pork belly rice I can never finish that by myself. Was in the same plaza so giving it a try. The place is really small sit about 16 people inside, 6 outside. No decor, it is more like a fast food place. You order at the counter, and u can see how they assemble your food. About the food, I think it is a little expensive for the portion of the Bao but since it is flavorful, it's all good. Don't order the cow bao, the meat is a little too sweet. But the Bolsa and Duck Bao is delicious with a nice crunch from the veggies. Although we didn't order the whole rice dish, I did order a side order of Hanan rice and it is really flavorful (5 stars). The chicken wing is really crunchy and eventhough it suppose to be salt and pepper, it is a little too sweet for my taste. If you like watermelon, get the watermelon chiller. It is like they just blend the whole watermelon and just keep it cool. Nice customer service. One negative thing, the water is way too powering with cucumber. read more

Had really high hopes for this place. I cant think of too many bao places that show up on yelp so i was pretty excited to try this place. Came just before closing, which was a mistake on my part. They only had 2 bao's left so i ended up only getting the duck and pork. Both were good, but i wouldnt say excellent. The manager was super chill though, he was handing out free sodas just because he could (his words, not mine). Anyway, the food here is not bad, but not the type of place i would probably return to. I would say that if you haven't had much experience with bao or Vietnamese/Chinese BBQ, this is a great place to get a taste of it. Delicious delicious delicious!! It's always busy whenever I pass by but I was able to do during lunch on a Tuesday and I was able to get a seat. The Bolsa bao and the Duck bao are soooo good. The meat was crisp and with melt in your mouth fat. The bao was soft and moist, definitely not as dry as the ones at those Chinese restaurants. The cucumber and pickled vegetables that they put in the bao balances out the rich fattiness of the meat and made each bite crisp and delicious. Surprisingly one bao is very filling. The bun size is a little bigger than the ordinary bao you find premade at markets. I got to try the Boss, Bolsa, duck,and Hot chick. Of course the hot chick was my favorite because I love fried chicken! We ordered so much they gave us fried cauliflower on the house! I really enjoyed it with the garlic aioli sauce that comes with it. I also got to try the popcorn chicken and I must say it tasted better than any tea house popcorn chicken. This restaurant is pretty small with limited seating. We came on a Sunday night and there wasn't many people. I would say there were at most five small tables.
