I've been coming here all my life and it is still one of my favorite restaurants. The food is impeccable, it's cozy, and the service is fantastic. And cherry on top, it's affordable. I have so many memories here. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. - this has always been a go to spot for my family and I. My favorite dishes are the Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, Beef Salad, Lemon Trout, Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Yum Goong, and the Papaya Salad. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any dishes but these are the most ordered for me. All of these dishes are special. Flavorful and tasty, I don't have any complaints. The beef on the beef salad could be softer but that's it. If I had a food hall of fame, I think Vientiane would be at the top, or top 3. I love this place. I would highly recommend checking them out.

I have been coming here for years and it's still one of my favorite Thai food restaurants. I would go here more often but they close so early in the day so I have to make sure I time it right. Service is always excellent I have no problems I always get what I need and my orders always right. It's a no frills hole in the wall establishment. I have perfected my order and it is always the same - beef pad se ew: delicious, piping hot, garlicky flavorful, beef is a little chewy but it's fine the noodles shine with the Chinese veggies -crispy fried rice: legit in this name crispy, chewy, refreshing paired with salad and ask for some chili fish sauce drizzle it on top delicious bites! -pork jerky: chewy, salty, flavorful but I don't care for the sauce it comes in sells out often get it while you can! It's a lot of food often I have to take a little bit togo but the portion size isn't always consistent so keep that in mind if you are with a larger party. Honorable mentions: Papaya salad is good they have 2 styles get the one that has a crab o watch out though get medium or mild it can be very spicy if you can't handle it. Recently tried the boat noodles and it was interesting very large and filling lots of noodles and toppings. Loved the fried shallots taste and texture it added you smell tom yum but it doesn't taste like it at all very unique taste I don't know what to compare it to. Try it if you want to try something fun and new.

Overall thought this restaurant was ok. Seating is on the more limited side but it wasn't too busy when I stopped by. I ordered to go and waited maybe 30 minutes to get my food Beef pad kee mao: 3/5 I ordered mild which was described to me as about a 5 on a scale of 1-10 but it wasn't spicy at all and was kind of bland Chicken pad see ew: 3/5 also a little bland Seafood pineapple fried rice: 4/5 this was my fav dish out of the stuff I ordered

Been wanting to hit up Vientiane in Garden Grove for a minute now and finally got the chance. Ordered: * Lao Papaya Salad * Pad See Ew * Thai Boat Noodle The highlights for me were definitely the pad see ew and the Thai boat noodle both were really solid and I'd 100% come back just for those two. Great flavor, comforting, and exactly what I was craving. The Lao papaya salad wasn't a personal favorite, but that's more of a preference thing. It leaned a bit more fermented than what I'm used to, and I've had Lao papaya salad before, so it may just come down to individual taste rather than execution. It's a mom-and-pop spot, and I love supporting places like this. I definitely want to come back, try more items on the menu, and maybe even ask for recommendations next time. I love food from all over and I'm not picky, so I'm excited to explore more here. Overall, solid experience and I'll be back

Great restaurant. We came for lunch. I ordered a papaya salad and a green curry with eggplant and shrimp. The green curry was exploding with flavor. It was so delicious and the dressing on the papaya was absolutely perfect. I got the pad.see ew w chicken for my toddlers without spice. The chicken is dark meat so if you don't like dark meat, make sure you request white meat. They loved it. The rice noodles had a good chew to them. The service was amazing. Also, our server was very kind and accommodating. The food came out fairly quickly. We will definitely be returning for lunch when visiting the area again.

My friend recommended this place as she was visiting home and was craving it. The dishes we picked curry fish, noodles, and fried rice for lettuce wraps - sounds a little weird but it's so delicious. Everything tasted home made and came out piping hot. I loved the chili toppers, the fish sauce Thai chili was spicy. It got pretty busy toward the afternoon. The inside was kept tidy and had a well aged feel to it.

Thai/Lao offerings, no-fuss and huge portions. Lao food is a bit more hidden to find in this neighborhood, and I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The Lao sausage tastes very similar to my grandmother's, and the pad see ew is real flavorful. It's probably my favorite in OC, there's something about their spice+flavor combo that really hits in this dish. Not pictured, but I was really liked the Lao version of papaya salad. Service is prompt and friendly too! Sometimes parking is a bit crowded due to Airoma's popularity.

Everything slaps as usual! This restaurant is definitely the star not-so-hidden-gem for all locals. The Fried Catfish with Coconut Curry 100/10 - was recommended by the server and it's bussin! The catfish was soo crispy and the curry is thick and flavorful and coconutty. My friends loved it a lot. Raw Shrimp - sauce is so tart and delicious, and the shrimp tasted fresh and had 0 smell. Bonus for the cabbage salad that it's served on also. Pad See Ew - flavorful, smokey, full of veggies, egg and beef, always my go-to Only thing I didnt love was the sausage- a bit salty! Servers are very pleasant and speedy speedsters and food comes out decently fast.

I've never had Lao food , but my friend really wanted to take me here for my first time! She says she comes here weekly. I thought the service was great, they seated us with a party of 12 people quickly and got our many orders out efficiently. I personally liked the food but thought even mild is too spicy for my taste. I know if you like spice definitely come here ! I felt like my mouth was burning but I couldn't stop eating it because it was really good. It gives me the vibes of being a small family owned restaurant with a good amount of seating. I don't know the names of everything we ordered because i let my friend order everything !

Great value for delicious Lao and Thai cuisine here. A bit hard to grab service but it is a very casual restaurant. I always want to try different items, but I split a bowl of my usual order when it comes to Lao food of the Khao Piak and their Nam Khao. I noticed many people on Yelp ordered the Nam Khao as well and I can confirm it's a must get! It was delicious, warm, and the rice had a nice crisp. I liked that we received a generous handful of lettuce and cilantro to eat with! Their Khao Piak was not the best I've had but still satisfies the minimum. Their noodle is more so of a flat wide noodle, just a bit more overcooked but still had a chewy texture. Our meal was satisfying and fueled us for the day! It was comforting and the flavors were authentic and definitely worth visiting. I would give my rating a 4 for Vientiane as service misses the mark as most of the staff goes MIA once you place your order.

We love this place for their authentic Lao dishes. My favorite things on the menu are the Nam Kao and the Lao sausages. The Lao sausages are so flavorful and cooked to a nice crisp. They also offer Lao style and "jungle style" papaya salad, which is Lao style with added long green beans and pork rinds. I prefer the bold flavors of Lao style papaya salad over Thai style papaya salad. The service is good and the food comes out quickly. We've ordered to-go as well as dined in. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. It's located in a busy complex, especially on the weekends, so it could be hard to find parking during peak lunch and dinner hours.

I never knew this place existed until I stumbled upon it after getting a drink next door. The workers were very friendly and accomodating. Food: - Pad Thai: The pad thai was very flavorful and one of my favorite. I highly recommend getting the pad thai when you're here. - Papaya Salad: I grew up eating papaya salad, so I'm a bit picky when it comes with mine. The papaya salad was okay but I added extra lime to mine and it tasted way better. The workers didn't rush my friend and I. They let us stay and chat even after we were done eating. Overall, the place is a great place to grab food if you're ever in the area.

Loved the food here! Had the khua mee lao, beef salad, and papaya salad. Quick service and casual dining. Everything was very flavorful, and portion sizes were great as well. Am not super familiar with Laotian food but definitely am looking to try more after this experience.

It wasn't that busy that night, so we got seated quickly. We ordered the Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, and lastly the Tom Yum soup. We got spicy for all of them. If you don't, the flavor profile will not be hitting. Traditionally you gotta eat it spicy! The papaya salad was good and the Pad Thai noodles portion was pretty small for family style. My favorite dish was the Tom Yum for sure. It tastes very authentic and I love how they put a lot of mushroom in the soup. The spicy and savoriness was well balanced. If it's a little salty, eat it with rice. Makes a good combo! At the very end, we were very full and we had to Togo the soup. Would definitely come back again to try other dishes like the Crying Tiger and chicken curry.
