Great addition to the Brookline scene. I am a regular visitor and was delighted to find this. Everyone at the table was delighted! First the white bean puree with basil pesto: Delicious. Each person at the table had a different main course, I had the rigatoni bolognese. This was done perfectly. The pasta was just right and the sauce delicious. My daughter had the short rib which she raved about. My wife the farro bowl. All great choices. We shared the mascarpone, limoncello cake which was also delicious. Was expecting a better experience based on reviews. Outdoor seating was pleasant. The hostess was a bit unfriendly/cold when we arrived. Our waiter was pleasant and efficient. We got the shared plates of cauliflower and the zucchini crudo. The cauliflower was delicious. The "crudo" which was spiralized zucchini was just ok. We also got the bruschetta - described on the menu as evoo confit cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and saba - it was ricotta, and a cold grape tomato plopped on top - nothing confit about it....and no Saba that was obvious at least. Ordered the cacio e Pepe - was a bit hesitant since it had clams in it. Yep - they don't belong. Even without the clams it was just ok. Fig and prosciutto pizza and the mushroom pizza were pretty tasty - interesting crust - nice and thin and crispy. read more

Went here for the soft opening and enjoyed some lovely fare in a fresh and open atmosphere. Our group loved the the staff's willingness to accommodate vegetarians by substituting//removing ingredients. They were very attentive and open to feedback; you could tell they are going for a family meal setup and value sharing. Havent been back since they officially opened to the public... but we can all guess one of the major reasons for that... I'd definitely go here with friends or family. read more

In all my years of dining I have never seen such a commitment by a restaurant to "making it right." It was super crowded last night and there were a few hiccups with regard to my reservation, etc. But Michael the guy at the front, and the dining manager, and the waitress were all incredibly kind at resolving things and making it up to us. Was searching for the perfect place to go while my mom and aunt were in town and this was it! Great for shared plates (our style :)) or individual entrees. The food was delicious and super flavorful, great wine selection and well priced! We sat outside under the bistro lights which was beautiful and a bit quieter than inside. My husband and I love this place so much! They have the best calamari in town, and their rigatoni bolognese is out of this world. We are quite pasta snobs, but their rigatoni bolognese exceeds our expectations. Service is pretty good too. I strongly recommend making a reservation prior to going to Bar'Cino because they are usually busy. If you can, you should definitely sit outside. read more

I'm not sure why this spot isn't raved about more! I stopped in for a quick bite on a Tuesday and sat at the bar. For food, we ordered the zucchini crudo, the tri color salad, and broccoli rabe and each had a couple glasses of wine. Each dish was delicious and portion sizes were great. Prices are also super reasonable. Would love to return to try the pasta and pizzas! read more

Had dinner with a couple of friends this week and the place was jam packed. I can't figure out why aside from the beautiful outdoor patio. The food was mediocre at best. The 2 slices of bruschetta were comprised of a few grape tomatoes on ricotta on a slice of chewy Italian bread. The bread was not pan seared, just perhaps toasted but cold. The tomatoes were not diced or seasoned. This is a short cut for bruschetta, not bruschetta. The tagliatelle with mushrooms and asparagus was gluey and bland. And oily. The roasted carrots and farro salad were okay - nothing write home about- and the salmon was a bit overcooked. It was a Saturday night and very busy so the service was slow but understandable. We loved the menu selections and the great vegetarian options. The service was also attentive and friendly . Every one was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the salmon which was excellent and the farro risotto for entrees . For appetizers we ordered 2 bruschetta with generous portions also ordered farro salad and roasted Brussels sprout with pickled carrot . I have had takeout 4 times and very happy every time. Pasta was excellent especially the tagliatelle, cooked just right with lots of mushroom sauce. Chicken piccata and risotto: ingredients and cooking were terrific. Great value for money. Portions much larger than some other restaurants I tried. Very friendly wait staff! We live in the neighborhood and have been meaning to try this place for over a year! Finally made it tonight and absolutely loved it. Service was fantastic, the vibes were great, and food was absolutely delicious. Great new addition to Brookline and the St Mary's area, especially in this seemingly jinxed space. Lively atmosphere, attentive and pleasant and knowledgeable service, loud but could carry on a conversation. One major peeve: I reserved a table for 2 more than a week ahead, specifically asking at that time and again when confirmed the same day that we have a normal height table, NOT a high-top. For older, short women, the high seats are really difficult to get in and out of. What did we get? A high top table. They really do need to add a few more lower tables, as there are a lot of us elders who eat plenty of meals out (and tip well)--IF we can maneuver the seating! For the food, generally very good, some excellent. The meatballs and short rib were outstanding--will return just for those! The bruschetta w cherry tomatoes very good but tomatoes could have been cooked an additional minute or two; kale Caesar salad w dressing requested on side very good, a bit pricey at $10. The RI mushroom piadine good, but not as flavorful as expected. A scoop of pistachio gelato much sweeter and richer than expected, should have gone w the limoncello cake. Malbec and cabernet good, not great, but decent pours. Didn't catch name of waitress, but she was terrific. Here's hoping management can sustain a promising beginning where others have failed. read more

We had reservations for 3 at 7:30pm on Thursday for outdoor seating. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:25pm and we were told it would take a few minutes to seat us. We stood outside until 8:00pm before being seated. This was very upsetting because we reserved seating at Bar'Cino several times before, seated on time, and then told after 90minutes that it was time to complete our dinner (others waiting to be seated.) We were surprised that Bar'Cino did not ask us if we would like to be seated indoors nor provide any other communication with us as we waited. The service was questionable with a second drink forgotten and a wait of 20 minutes for dessert. read more

PHENOMENAL!! My roommate and I have been patiently waiting for this restaurant to open and it surpassed expectations. The staff is friendly and accommodating, we have sat at the bar and a high top and both times have had very pleasant interactions. We ordered takeout tonight: Tuscan Kale Salad; Evoo Confit Bruschetta; Margherita Pizza; Rigatoni Bolognese; Grilled Broccolini; Grilled Salmon Piati; Zucchini and Eggplant Piati; and the Limoncello Mascarpone Cake. Let me at say that if it weren't for one item, this place would have received 5 stars. The Zucchini and Eggplant was tough, sauce was way too tangy, and negated 1 star. Keep in mind, my mom is from Italy and her eggplant sets a high bar - maybe put an eggplant parm or stuffed eggplant dish on the menu instead. Now that I dealt with the bad, onto the good. Wow - everything was flavorful; salmon was perfectly cooked (thankfully my wife shared) and the side of cannellini beans were out of this world. My daughter devoured the Rigatoni and my son loved the pizza. My wife and I shared the Bruschetta. My Kale salad was absolutely delish. Tons of flavor. Other than the Zucchini and Eggplant, our only other regret is that we only ordered one piece of Limoncello Mascarpone Cake - we should have ordered three! Great experience! We ended up having to eat at the bar because we didn't have reservations and it was crowded but it worked out. The wine selection was great and the bartender was knowledgeable in her recommendations. The fresh pasta was delicious and the perfect portion size--not an overwhelming size but just enough for dinner. The tiramisu was good and was large enough to split. Positives: easy on line ordering with nice photos and clearly itemized ingredients, efficient pick-up and well constructed see-through packaging. Enjoyed the tagliatelle with mushrooms and basil. Ate outside under a heat lamp and it was very pleasant! The lamp definitely provided enough warmth for 2 people (wearing coats & hats). The cocktails were delicious as was the food. The saltiest pasta carbonara I have ever had. I felt quite ill after eating and after a few glasses of water, I am still extremely thirsty. If I were any older, I would be concerned about going into florid heart failure. This was the first meal in years that I didn't finish at the restaurant or opt to bring home. Newport RI location: Sat at the bar, had attentive bartender and ordered drinks. Then ordered kale and avocado salad. Over drenched with dressing and reaffirms my dislike of kale but wanted to give it a try. Main meal was rigatoni bolognese and it was outstanding! Bar 'Cino is such a hidden gem in Boston. I was a little wary to eat inside a restaurant given the times, but I felt incredible safe as the staff has allotted more than enough space between tables. The food was delicious -- I had the tagliatelle and my boyfriend had the Orecchiette special. Huge portions and well worth the price. The server was attentive, ample bread was provided... I cannot say enough good things about this place! If you're craving Italian, go here and skip the North End. read more

It's terrific to have this kind of place in the neighborhood. I ordered a green salad, which was lovely. But the entree, a mushroom pasta, had so much butter sauce that it was relatively inedible. (I mean, so much butter that I tipped my plate to drain it away. That much butter.) My friend also ordered the same thing and we both said: meh, probably won't come here again. That said, the atmosphere was great--lively (although loud) and a great mix of people. I'd go back because it's on my block not for the food. read more
