We came here a year ago and got lucky with a walk in. This year we made a reservation. Our table, while away from most of thr restaurant, was uncomfortable seating/chair wise and the table was huge for 2 people. We were also next to the bathroom so people were walking by, waiting for the restroom and you could smell the air freshener every time the door opened and closed. It was fine but next time I would ask to be seated elsewhere. Service was friendly and on point tho there was a little wait between each dishes. We had summer squash, branzino and the pork chop. What a delight! I'm a lucky gal that my bf has great taste in picking out date outing restaurants, Bar Le Côte being one of those great choices. Food is farm to table with a seafood focus. We shared a few items to get a sampling of the menu. Everything came out quite quickly. Presentation was beautiful and everything was delicious. The summer squash and roasted oysters were the favorites. The Chicken sandwich (happy hour menu) was delicious however once you picked it up could not put down due to the juices from the garnishes flooding the plate, so if it was put down the bread would have become a soggy mess. Luckily it was so delicious that eating it quickly would have happened anyways. Decor is cute, love the green accents in the walls and furnishings. It's a stylish yet relaxed establishment. We went to Los Olivos for a weekend without the kids and made a reservation at Bar Le Côte before we even booked our hotel. We'd been to Bells for lunch and heard rhapsodic things about this sister restaurant and were excited to go for a getaway date. We showed up half an hour late for our 7:45 Saturday night reservation and were relieved that we didn't lose our table. (No joke, our hot air balloon landed behind schedule.) The restaurant doesn't have a phone, so I had to message them on Instagram. Thankfully, they received the message and were very understanding. Dinner service was in full swing when we arrived, and we were seated right away. The space was lovely, contemporary and attractive, with designy fixtures and cool art on the walls. The vibe was casual and comfortable, and service was great. We'd been drinking wine all day and went easy on the alcohol, getting a glass each of the Mas Martinet Menut, a Spanish Priorat Garnaxta blend, and the Storm Sauvignon Blanc, a local selection. Both were excellent, and worked well with our dinner. The food was delicious. We started with a few picks from the raw seafood section, a half dozen oysters, some Santa Barbara sea urchin, and Peruvian scallops. The oysters were fresh Pacific Gold Reserves from Moro Bay and Fortunes from PEI, Canada, served on ice with cocktail sauce, mignonette, and lemon. The sea urchin was okay, the only skip of the meal, but I wasn't sorry to eat it. The scallops were fantastic, sweet in their shells, finished with BD's Pixie tangerine and mint. (BD came up a couple times on the menu; I assume it's a farm.) Next, we dug into the pan con tomate, Chef Bri's rosemary and saffron focaccia with a side of vibrant, jammy tomato. We added the boquerones, a pro move. These were five plump, salty marinated anchovies that were destined to be eaten with pan con tomate. We ordered two entrées and both were outstanding. The Morro Bay vermilion rockfish was a beautiful piece of fish, served with Finley Farm snap peas, tendrils, consommé, and mint. The heritage pork chop was tender, juicy, and super flavorful, seasoned with fennel pollen, with a bright side salad of BD's arugula and Finley fennel. We shared a bowl of vanilla ice cream with Pedro Ximénez sherry for dessert, and it was kind of perfect. I don't think I'd had this combination before and am thinking of buying Pedro Ximénez sherry just to put it on ice cream at home. This was a wonderful dinner, one I'd be happy to repeat almost course for course. If you're planning to hang out in Los Olivos, I'd highly recommend booking a table at Bar Le Côte. Having been to Spain a few times, the food here was quite underwhelming. One positive is that they have a happy hour, and on that menu they include the peel and eat shrimp which were fresh and delicious with two dipping sauces. Also on the happy hour menu was the french fries with special BLC seasoning (they said this was basically old base seasoning mixed with tajin). The fries were solid as well. Unfortunately, the famed chicken sandwich was not good at all. The chicken breast was extremely dry and the slaw and sauce did little to help. Also, we ordered the pan con tomate on Rosemary and saffron focaccia. I was extremely confused because this bread did not seem like a focaccia at all! It was sweet and crumbly like a cake. Also, the tomato was like a salsa, I could not taste any olive oil in there at all. Combined, it was bizarre and unappetizing. We ordered a half-dozen Oysters, the Peel & Eat Shrimp, the Peruvian Scallops, the Santa Barbara Sea Urchin, the Paella Negra, the Boquerones, the Roasted "Fortune" Oysters, and the BLC Spiced Fries. All the seafood was so fresh and the paella was especially delicious. The fries were a bit of a miss for me since they didn't really have much seasoning, but they still came out hot and crunchy. The first time I visited was during a wine tasting day in Los Olivos with friends, and the lunch experience was so good that I knew I had to come back and stop by for dinner before closing out our wine tasting day trip to Santa Ynez. The food here is incredibly refined. Every dish is balanced and focused on clean, locally sourced produce and delicate flavors that really highlight the quality of ingredients. Some of the highlights: Peruvian Scallops with BD's Pixie Tangerine & Mint, which everyone enjoyed (even the non-seafood lovers). These were bright, minty, and fresh. Yellowtail Crudo with pickled beet, fennel, and ajo rosa. This sashimi dish was light, stood out visually, and was slightly tart and sweet. Paella Negra with Hope Ranch mussels, Spanish octopus, squid ink, and bomba rice was savory and really satisfying. The mussels in particular were outstanding: tender, not chewy at all, with a clean savory flavor that almost reminded me of grilled oysters. Brandt Beef New York Strip with chanterelles and hazelnut purée. Rich and perfectly cooked. We also ordered oysters, pan con tomate, peel & eat shrimp (chef's kiss), and the BLC Snack Pack for dessert (chocolate and vanilla pudding with crema batida and candied hazelnuts) that was a great way to close a celebratory dinner and day trip with friends. I am so glad we did. It's a small place right off the main square. It is a great little town in a wonderful wine country on the Central coast of California. We are a half dozen oysters to split, the Caesar salad which was different from any I had had before and quite delicious and the branzino. The portions were very small but very tasty and I felt $100 was expensive for this meal. The fish was maybe 4 oz and nothing else on the plate. Also gratuity was added automatically. Amazing restaurant! The food was unique, delicious, and satisfying. We couldn't get a table for Valentines Day, but we got seats at the counter on Sunday after. Lucky for us, we were able to get the Valentines Ray dinner for two. Which we opted for the wine pairing. It was fantastic! See the pics I posted with the review. We have been to this restaurant 5 times, and obviously we wanted to come back because the food has been amazing. We wanted to enjoy another meal here with our family for my sister in Laws birthday combined with Father's Day. My sister in law made a reservation 3 months ago. They said they couldn't accommodate a party of 8 however they agreed to put us on side by side tables. When we arrive for our reservation, the host Ryan informed us that he would have to put us on opposite ends of the restaurant. When we pleaded for solutions as there were empty tables, he kept insisting that people coming in after us refused to sit at certain tables. It felt as though he/restaurant were putting the needs of some over the others, even though we had a confirmed reservation. We tried multiple times to present solutions to the hostess however he just kept dismissing us and essentially told us if we don't like it we are free to cancel and leave. It literally felt like we were treated like second class citizens for a confirmed and agreed upon arrangement. Perhaps we were punished for having 2 children with us... idk.. but our perspective of this established is left soured to say the least. Would not return again read more

Had a reservation made 2 months ago for a larger party for my wife's birthday. Ryan the host tried sitting us at opposite sides of the restaurant because he said there was another reservation coming that didn't like sitting at the window table and the only two tables he would be willing to provide our family was at opposite ends of the restaurant. Would not budge and it seemed like being a family he didn't want us in the middle of the restaurant. I'm shocked that the bells group would have Ryan as a host as he was so aloof and extremely rude . Having been here 7 times and being such a fanboy of the bells group in general I'm extremely disappointed that someone like Ryan would be working in customer service, he is better suited for the prison cafeteria. read more
