We came here a year ago and got lucky with a walk in. This year we made a reservation. Our table, while away from most of thr restaurant, was uncomfortable seating/chair wise and the table was huge for 2 people. We were also next to the bathroom so people were walking by, waiting for the restroom and you could smell the air freshener every time the door opened and closed. It was fine but next time I would ask to be seated elsewhere. Service was friendly and on point tho there was a little wait between each dishes. We had summer squash, branzino and the pork chop. Also had the sticky toffee date cake for dessert. We walked here from our hotel (Mattei's) less than 5 min. We enjoyed our food but really loved it last time. What a delight! I'm a lucky gal that my bf has great taste in picking out date outing restaurants, Bar Le Côte being one of those great choices. Food is farm to table with a seafood focus. We shared a few items to get a sampling of the menu. Everything came out quite quickly. Presentation was beautiful and everything was delicious. The summer squash and roasted oysters were the favorites. The Chicken sandwich (happy hour menu) was delicious however once you picked it up could not put down due to the juices from the garnishes flooding the plate, so if it was put down the bread would have become a soggy mess. Luckily it was so delicious that eating it quickly would have happened anyways. Decor is cute, love the green accents in the walls and furnishings. It's a stylish yet relaxed establishment. We went to Los Olivos for a weekend without the kids and made a reservation at Bar Le Côte before we even booked our hotel. We'd been to Bells for lunch and heard rhapsodic things about this sister restaurant and were excited to go for a getaway date. We showed up half an hour late for our 7:45 Saturday night reservation and were relieved that we didn't lose our table. (No joke, our hot air balloon landed behind schedule.) The restaurant doesn't have a phone, so I had to message them on Instagram. Thankfully, they received the message and were very understanding. Dinner service was in full swing when we arrived, and we were seated right away. The space was lovely, contemporary and attractive, with designy fixtures and cool art on the walls. The vibe was casual and comfortable, and service was great. We'd been drinking wine all day and went easy on the alcohol, getting a glass each of the Mas Martinet Menut, a Spanish Priorat Garnaxta blend, and the Storm Sauvignon Blanc, a local selection. Both were excellent, and worked well with our dinner. The food was delicious. We started with a few picks from the raw seafood section, a half dozen oysters, some Santa Barbara sea urchin, and Peruvian scallops. The oysters were fresh Pacific Gold Reserves from Moro Bay and Fortunes from PEI, Canada, served on ice with cocktail sauce, mignonette, and lemon. The sea urchin was okay, the only skip of the meal, but I wasn't sorry to eat it. The scallops were fantastic, sweet in their shells, finished with BD's Pixie tangerine and mint. (BD came up a couple times on the menu; I assume it's a farm.) Next, we dug into the pan con tomate, Chef Bri's rosemary and saffron focaccia with a side of vibrant, jammy tomato. We added the boquerones, a pro move. These were five plump, salty marinated anchovies that were destined to be eaten with pan con tomate. We ordered two entrées and both were outstanding. The Morro Bay vermilion rockfish was a beautiful piece of fish, served with Finley Farm snap peas, tendrils, consommé, and mint. The heritage pork chop was tender, juicy, and super flavorful, seasoned with fennel pollen, with a bright side salad of BD's arugula and Finley fennel. We shared a bowl of vanilla ice cream with Pedro Ximénez sherry for dessert, and it was kind of perfect. I don't think I'd had this combination before and am thinking of buying Pedro Ximénez sherry just to put it on ice cream at home. This was a wonderful dinner, one I'd be happy to repeat almost course for course. If you're planning to hang out in Los Olivos, I'd highly recommend booking a table at Bar Le Côte. It's worth going out of your way for, too. Like Bells in Los Alamos, it's a destination on its own. read more

If you need to get in touch with them, know they don't have a phone number so you'll have to reach out via email or Instagram. They're also a service‑included spot and automatically add a 20% service charge to every check, regardless of party size. We recently came in for a Sunday lunch with a group of 8. We ordered a half-dozen Oysters, the Peel & Eat Shrimp, the Peruvian Scallops, the Santa Barbara Sea Urchin, the Paella Negra, the Boquerones, the Roasted "Fortune" Oysters, and the BLC Spiced Fries. All the seafood was so fresh and the paella was especially delicious. The fries were a bit of a miss for me since they didn't really have much seasoning, but they still came out hot and crunchy. BLC also partners with the wineries around Los Olivos and we tried their own BLC Solminer orange wine which paired great with all of our food. The food was delicious! We stared off with the pan con tomate which the flavors were there, but the airiness of the focaccia added a different texture than what the usual Cristal Bread would give. I ordered it with the uni butter, but it never arrived. The fries were by far the best fries I've had. Well seasoned, crispy and fluffy on the inside. For the mains we had the fish sandwich and chicken sandwich. The fish was moist and the sink was crisp. The chicken sandwich was delicious, the anchovy on top and the spicy tartar sauce is unexpected for a chicken sandwich but man does it work. It cuts through the heaviness of the fried chicken. Having been to Spain a few times, the food here was quite underwhelming. One positive is that they have a happy hour, and on that menu they include the peel and eat shrimp which were fresh and delicious with two dipping sauces. Also on the happy hour menu was the french fries with special BLC seasoning (they said this was basically old base seasoning mixed with tajin). The fries were solid as well. Unfortunately, the famed chicken sandwich was not good at all. The chicken breast was extremely dry and the slaw and sauce did little to help. Also, we ordered the pan con tomate on Rosemary and saffron focaccia. I was extremely confused because this bread did not seem like a focaccia at all! It was sweet and crumbly like a cake. Also, the tomato was like a salsa, I could not taste any olive oil in there at all. Combined, it was bizarre and unappetizing. Second visit to Bar Le Côte and it was a delicious dinner experience for a group of 4. The first time I visited was during a wine tasting day in Los Olivos with friends, and the lunch experience was so good that I knew I had to come back and stop by for dinner before closing out our wine tasting day trip to Santa Ynez. The food here is incredibly refined. Every dish is balanced and focused on clean, locally sourced produce and delicate flavors that really highlight the quality of ingredients. Some of the highlights: Peruvian Scallops with BD's Pixie Tangerine & Mint, which everyone enjoyed (even the non-seafood lovers). These were bright, minty, and fresh. Yellowtail Crudo with pickled beet, fennel, and ajo rosa. This sashimi dish was light, stood out visually, and was slightly tart and sweet. Paella Negra with Hope Ranch mussels, Spanish octopus, squid ink, and bomba rice was savory and really satisfying. The mussels in particular were outstanding: tender, not chewy at all, with a clean savory flavor that almost reminded me of grilled oysters. Brandt Beef New York Strip with chanterelles and hazelnut purée. Rich and perfectly cooked. We also ordered oysters, pan con tomate, peel & eat shrimp (chef's kiss), and the BLC Snack Pack for dessert (chocolate and vanilla pudding with crema batida and candied hazelnuts) that was a great way to close a celebratory dinner and day trip with friends. What I love about this place is that it feels elevated and relaxed. The staff is great, friendly and customer focused. It's the kind of restaurant that surprises people in the best way when they're visiting Los Olivos for wine tasting. About two weeks ago, I saw this restaurant highlighted on the TV show... California Live. I knew we were going to be visiting over the Memorial Day weekend so I booked a reservation. I am so glad we did. It's a small place right off the main square. It is a great little town in a wonderful wine country on the Central coast of California. This restaurant does complete justice to the local wines, great seafood, and local produce. The service was excellent... The ambience, casual and welcoming... But the food was the star. We had delicious appetizers and seafood entrées. It is definitely the place to go in Los Olivos. Upon arrival we were told there was a short wait for our reservation and we were given a glass of bubbly for our wait, a nice touch. Our server was delightful, so informative and friendly! We started with oysters which were small and lightly brined. We also split the lettuces - I would die for the dressing recipe it was such a great vinaigrette! Lastly, we split the scallop crudo which was the overall highlight from the night! Interesting flavors with picked mushroom and dill, highly recommend. For mains we each has different fish dishes (halibut and sea bass) and both were very good. I would love to go back and try the paella. We have been to this restaurant 5 times, and obviously we wanted to come back because the food has been amazing. We wanted to enjoy another meal here with our family for my sister in Laws birthday combined with Father's Day. My sister in law made a reservation 3 months ago. They said they couldn't accommodate a party of 8 however they agreed to put us on side by side tables. When we arrive for our reservation, the host Ryan informed us that he would have to put us on opposite ends of the restaurant. When we pleaded for solutions as there were empty tables, he kept insisting that people coming in after us refused to sit at certain tables. It felt as though he/restaurant were putting the needs of some over the others, even though we had a confirmed reservation. We tried multiple times to present solutions to the hostess however he just kept dismissing us and essentially told us if we don't like it we are free to cancel and leave. It literally felt like we were treated like second class citizens for a confirmed and agreed upon arrangement. We ordered the Pacific Gold reserve oysters,boat scallop crudo, patatas bravas, BL Caesar, pan con tomate, Santa Barbara halibut, arroz verde, duck a la plancha, and the BLC snack pack (we were going all out). I opted for the restaurant week menu while my mom got the paella negra. First, the 3x3 arrived. It was very delicious! I'm a fan of both oysters and shrimp, I'm happy to report that Bar Le Cote's version with the sauces was very delicious. Next, I got the roasted yellowtail collar. It had a creamy sauce I was worried would be too rich but it paired perfectly with the dish. The outside layer of the fish had a nice crisp that rounded out the textures. Lastly, I got the the vanilla ice cream with the Pedro Ximenez Sherry. It was sweet, but not too sweet. The perfect end to this delicious meal. We are a half dozen oysters to split, the Caesar salad which was different from any I had had before and quite delicious and the branzino. The portions were very small but very tasty and I felt $100 was expensive for this meal. The fish was maybe 4 oz and nothing else on the plate. Also gratuity was added automatically. Popped in for a quick lunch on Saturday. We sat at the bar and ordered the pork chop and the branzino. Both delicious. Full of flavor and presented with al dente vegetables. The stand out dish was the pork chop. It was cooked perfectly. Moist with a fabulous spiced rub crusted on the outside. Service was great! Overall, amazing food. Amazing restaurant! The food was unique, delicious, and satisfying. We couldn't get a table for Valentines Day, but we got seats at the counter on Sunday after. Lucky for us, we were able to get the Valentines Ray dinner for two. Which we opted for the wine pairing. It was fantastic! See the pics I posted with the review. A friend and I made a reservation for a Thursday night to try items on their restaurant week menu, not knowing Thursday night is all night happy hour. Upon arriving, we greeted by a friendly gentleman host who happened to be our server as well. He was very helpful recommending menu items since we had never been for happy hour. Even though their restaurant week menu looked great, we ended up going a different direction with the help of our amazing server. We ended up ordering oysters, the chicken sandwich, and fries from the happy hour menu. From the regular menu, we ordered the scallop crudo and salad. I highly recommend the scallop crudo. The sauce with dill pollen is fantastic. One of the best crudos I've ever had. The food and service were top tier and we took a look at chef's tasting menu and are looking forward to trying that or other items on the menu because everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked wonderful! read more

Stopped in on a recent visit to Los Olivos for my birthday. We started with some of the happy hour peel-and-eat shrimp and a half dozen oysters. The shrimp were outstanding and the oysters were tender and not too briny. I wasn't a huge fan of the scallops because the mushrooms and dill pollen were not a great combination for me and I thought they overwhelmed the flavor of the scallop a bit. The yellowtail collar was perfect, as was the paella negra. The squash tart was perfect: crispy and creamy without being too rich. I wasn't as into the pan con tomate. But the "snack pack" special dessert was exactly what we expected: an elevated version of the pudding cups you may have had as a child. The space itself is cute and our servers were all friendly without being overly fussy. This was a great spot to kick off my birthday weekend. read more
