Wow - Bar Molino is SO good! I already can't wait to go back. I visited with 2 friends for their amazing happy hour (starts at 3 pm). I think it was $30 for a bottle of wine and 3 apps! Amazing! The house wine was great too. The bobal paired perfectly with the apps we ordered. We started with olives, patatas bravas (the sauce was amazing on the potatoes), and the Spanish egg tortilla dish that the bartender recommended. I believe his name was Faden. He was super fun to talk to and brought us complimentary bubbles since we were celebrating birthdays. My friends also ordered a small chicken sandwich to share. The tapas are small and perfect for sharing. Once the wine started kicking in, we ordered manchego cheese, a smoked cheese, and chorizo until the dinner menu would be served starting at 5 pm. We had more wine and got dinner food. The octopus was my favorite dish! Wow it was so tender and flavorful. The sauce over it had a little kick and it just tasted so fresh. I can't wait to order it again. The beets were good, and the bread service with roasted garlic in olive oil was amazing. I couldn't stop eating the garlic! Runner up for my favorite dish was the shrimp. They were huge and juicy. My friends and I are still talking about how fun and delicious this happy hour turned dinner was. This is one of my favorite places in Jax. It's tucked away from the street, across from the Southside tennis courts. Free valet parking is avail, if you have parking troubles. Bar Molino has several seating options; bar area, inside or outside tables. Depending on your mood, I like them all. The place is initmate and the staff are top notch. The tapas are absolutely delicious. My faves: Wild Mushrooms, Piquillo Peppers, Tartar de Atun, Patatas Bravas, Calamares Fritos, and Prime Hanger Steak. The wine selection is vast and last time I visited we had the most delicious red wine. This particular wine was only at Bar Molino and in Spain, only. We knew this because our servers and the manager spoke with us about our food and wine selections; making the evening even more enjoyable. I've been here several times for dinner and it's always been a homerun experience. I do recommend you get reservations. * I tried the lunch experience and thought it was "o.k". This was amazing. The place is beautiful- approachable but very clean modern upscale design. Our service was excellent. We were attended to and waited on and guided through the menu. Our server gave great advice and helped us make smart decisions to get the best of the menu. The food though. Man everything was delicious. Highlights being the Iberico ham and the octopus, but seriously everything was 10/10. Great wine selection and pretty reasonable wine prices - $30-40 a bottle. The owners are well versed with their collection and have high class offerings for all price ranges. Ambiance was nice, wine was decent. Maybe I'm just uncultured but we didn't like any of the 7 tapas plus bread service that we ordered. The meatball was decent but lacked flavor and not visually appealing. The croquettas were nice and crispy but the spinach filling had a terrible aftertaste. The totilla Española or omelet was horrible, can't even explain. I stopped taking pictures at this point because we were so put off but I'll tell you everything else we ordered. We ordered the grass fed skirt steak, which was extremely rare and not palatable with a strong goat cheese crumble that overwhelmed the dish. The scallops were cooked correctly, but the sauces made them unappetizing. Lastly, we ordered the mushrooms that had an overwhelming amount of sherry that made them unappealing and tasted pickled and old. We picked at everything but didn't finish a single thing. I rarely leave a 1 star review as I've eaten at many restaurants in the area everything from American cuisine to all ethnicities and I see that most of their reviews are 5 stars so maybe my palette is untrained but we did not like anything we tried. read more

Being that I live in the San Marco area I frequent Bar Molino often! It is one of the most consistent restaurants in Jacksonville and I stand by this! The staff are so friendly and the food is so fresh and comes on when ready which I really appreciate. We have tried almost everything on the menu and you cannot make a bad choice! We went here with another couple, love tapas/small plates. It is one of our favorite ways to eat. The chorizo and potatoes were great! The shrimp was a little bland but the broth you can dip your bread into and the little pieces of bread more than made up for that. and the fried cheese were amazing!!! Somewhat of a new establishment. It's right next to High Tide Burrito (which is also good) and MUV, the cannabis dispensary, and across the street from the tennis courts and library. This is a tapas place, for those who aren't familiar, it's small plates. I was here with a group of people and we just ordered tapas from the menu, sharing amongst each other (which means, everyone got about one piece from each plate). To put things into perspective, if you were going to serve sausages, imagine cooking one and cutting it into 4 pieces. That's your tapas. The food was good though. I can't remember everything I ate. And I'm the worst at describing things so probably best that I don't describe how things tasted unless I just use the words, "good" or "bad". Everything that was ordered was good. But I'm one who doesn't like to eat onions, so keep that in mind. Our taste buds will not be the same. Plus, I'm only 150lbs, and the complete opposite of a buffet killer, you'll never see me Scooby Doo a plate of food. Service was great. Really good Spanish tapas and some great Spanish wines. Definitely worth trying for something new and different. The meatball wasn't your typical meatball. The flavor was terrific. We also loved the mushroom croquetas. A great red Spanish wine was recommended. I was very pleased with our service for brunch. We were a large party of 11, and our needs were well attended. We sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed the ambience . One person remarked afterwards that they weren't happy with their meal, but the other ten were very pleased with our selections! I ordered the smash burger and it was delicious ! I usually don't hit a new spot until they have had a chance to pass the break in period. I was convinced by some friends in the business to give it a try, so here I am. I had the meatball and the stuffed peppers. Both were fantastic. The peppers have a sardine filet on them. Please don't be discouraged. Nothing like the canned version on a pizza. Totally different thing. There is also a "pesto" of sorts on the pepper that was amazing. The meatball was delicious. Great and fun spot. The newest tapas place in Jacksonville and it didn't disappoint! To start we ordered the Pan Con Tomate which was almost like a bruschetta with a fresh tomato spread and we added the ham and cheese for an up charge. It was super light and refreshing with two pieces coming to an order. We also ordered the La Albondiga and Clams with Chorizo. The meatball is so fresh and tender in a mushroom sauce which we loved. We also liked the clams - very fresh and light with a nice touch of lemon (maybe 6 to an order?) For our second round we ordered the Iberico Secreto (my favorite), Okra a la Plancha, and Mushroom Croquettes. We finished our whole meal with the Blueberry Almond Tart. My favorite was the pork steak. Such an amazing rub and the spicy sauce on the bottom was wonderfully complex. My husbands favorite the Pan Con Tomato which was truly a great place to start since it was so light and fresh. Things to note: - On Friday the earliest reservation I could get was 9:15 for two. There were plenty of open tables so take a chance on coming without a reservation if you don't want to wait. - They only have beer and wine. Their 'cocktails' are wine based which isn't new to me, but they're sherry based. I feel like it made the cocktails really hit or miss and will probably stick to wine next time. - Portions are a true tapas size, so order a few for the table and experiment - you won't be disappointed! read more

The Jamon Bellota is supposed to be the finest jamon in the world and it didnt disappoint! A must try. The server explain the menu very well, the tapas selection is fantastic. We tried the Tortilla, Pincho of the day and Potatoes Bravas. When we got to our table, we ordered more tapas which are pictured below. One of the best, if not the best, Spanish restaurants in the United States. We drove all day coming from Raleigh (10 hours, two off-highway detours due to the exaggerated delays on 95), but we made it by the end of the night. Welcomed by Kurt, the proprietor, who has, in my opinion, the best Spanish wine offerings in the US. We had the chorizo, endive salad and the pork chop Basque-style. Yes, I'm a five star rater person. If it's exceptional then it's what it is. This place is perfect. Interior is classic and makes the cocktails and food the stars. I had an anchovy tapas, it was a punch of salty fish flavor cut with pickled peppers. Flavors were popping off, the swig of my cocktail helped tame my tastebuds. Next were shishito peppers, blistered and seasoned perfectly, a true bar snack paired with a nice house cocktail. Flank steak next with a bleu cheese topping. The medium rare, well crusted beef with a dollop of bleu was perfect. Also, the pork belly Al AJillo, I hope that's the correct name, was very good. A selection of house made cured meats was a treat as always, especially the duck prosciutto and my all-time favorite salchichon.
