We popped in here for lunch on a Sunday. My husband and I had heard about this place, but also knew that it was next to impossible to get into for dinner. So one Sunday we tried to see if we can come in for lunch and luckily they were able to see us. It is the quintessential casual French bistro. The place is the size of a postage stamp and only has about 10 tables. Now I understand why it's hard to get a reservation. We split a few items. The Niçoise salad was fresh and delicious. But the two stars that we had that were incredible were the watermelon and feta salad. The watermelon was perfectly sweet and the feta was deliciously salty. Totally worth it. And the Fritz Diane, which were shoestring potatoes with a Diane sauce, which is creamy mushroom. Was utterly decadent with huge shards of Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. now we have to make reservations for dinner because I wanna try it out at night. It's not a fancy place. It's not over the top. But it is a classic French bistro. Great place! Would totally go back again read more

Stopped by on a Sunday night. They were not super busy, but we were about an hour out from the kitchen closing. We had some good expectations for Bar Sardine after seeing a couple of videos highlighting the restaurant. While the food was good, the service was a bit disappointing, especially considering it was not a busy night. I ordered sparkling water and was poured still- initially not a big deal, but the start of a dinner experience that left us feeling let down. We ordered the bread and frites diane to start, then the fish of the day and bucatini. Our main dishes came out quickly and we waited a bit for our appetizers. After about five minutes, we started eating our mains, thinking the appetizers would be coming out soon. A good while later, our waitress rushed over and told us that our appetizers were on the way, but by then we'd basically finished our main dishes and she cleared our table. We sat for a while before our bread and frites were finally brought out, almost 15 minutes after our main dishes were cleared. I'm usually pretty understanding in situations where staff is overbooked and busy, but waiting to be served a plate of bread when there are only four other tables seemed like it could at least come with a quick apology. The plate was put on our table with a giggle and a comment about "oh it's great bread that can be thought of as dessert!" The food was fine, nothing wrong with it but the service is not worth putting up with for plates that can be found at a handful of other Dallas spots. read more

I ate there with a friend at the bar. An exquisite atmosphere--warm, comfortable, with lighting that flatters. Very good service for such a busy place, with staff friendly and helpful. I had the escargot with toasty bread. One of the best sauces I've ever had, cognac based. Smallish quantity of snails, but sufficient; the real star was the sauce for the bread. Clever and delicious cocktails, in generous pours. A fine place for a date or a late night repast. read more

My daughter and I travelled from Plano to try Bar Sardine based on Instagram recommendations. We looked forward to a French bistro experience and expected to pay a bit more than typical for a burger and fries given the Snider Plaza location. Upon arrival the pretentiousness of the hostess was immediately apparent and off putting. I'd read that Botox injections can limit one's ability to engage in natural human interactions and so I didn't think too much of it. Our server did not seem to have much Botox exposure and so her disdain for our presence through lack of service and unfriendliness was more disappointing. Food was extremely mid and not worth the price point. Cute atmosphere. Will not be back ~ which I truly believe is the desired result of the Bar Sardine team. read more

I never leave reviews but I feel after this experience i must. My mom and I drove from Plano to try Bar Sardine. I ordered the burrata ratatouille to start, upon running the starter our server said to let her know if we would like bread with it. That was all she said, and literally said that as she was walking away, which didn't even give us the opportunity to respond. She never checked back in afterwards so we never got the bread. She didn't come back until she ran our entree (Cheese Burger) and never once checked in on us to see how it was. We refilled our own waters the whole time. I can't help but feel as though it was due to either our race or because our aura doesn't necessarily scream old money and she was worried about a tip. I am a server and understand the way it is but everyone deserves fair service regardless of other factors. Especially on Martin Luther King day...this was not his dream. :( As far as food goes, not bad..not the best. Definitely not worth the price. Ambiance was pretty. read more

I thought it was going to be more authentic. A real French restaurant brings a baguette and butter to the table when you first sit down, doesn't charge $20 for a side of fries or charge $6 for 3 sauces for the fries, one of which is ketchup. Just seemed a bit cheap and tacky. The food was good though! But bistros are pretty much French diners in France and New York. Steak frites is a simple standard dinner - should not cost $54, which it does at Bar Sardine. So the whole thing is confusing...is it a neighborhood bistro or is it super expensive/fancy? read more

Great food and intimate ambiance. Chef is highly visible around the restaurant which is fun. It is a very small space so reservations are a must. Hit items were scallops with leeks, escargot, drip trio, and filet diane. Great place for a special occasion! read more

Stumbled on this lovely bistro in the late afternoon. We were graciously welcomed and expertly served. The onion soup was exquisite, sea bass in blanc beurre was delicate and delicious. Excellent cocktails and wine selections. Can't wait to return and try more! read more

Matt, the heavier set man at the front was extremely rude and displayed a behavior that could only be described as racist. We were ignored at the host stand for over 10 minutes. Matt walked past us multiple times, but made no effort to acknowledge or seat us. Shortly after, a white guest without a reservation was quickly accommodated and given a table. The difference in treatment felt discriminatory and left us deeply uncomfortable. This was our first time here. While the drinks were good, the service was unacceptable, and I will not be returning. read more

French fries were short and soggy. Salad nicoise was ok, 4 bites of tuna. Service was attentive. There are better French bistros in Dallas such as Bistro 31 and Bilboquet. Place only has one unisex toilette, so if the restaurant is full, get ready to wait in line. read more

I went to bar sardine for lunch and I had a really great time. The service was great. The chef came out and spoke to everyone and actually gave us a dollop of some incredible homemade chocolate mousse. I luckily did not encounter the rude dark haired lady that has mentioned in some other reviews. I had a pleasant blond woman . We ordered several things off the menu and I enjoyed all of them. The Fritz Diane were exceptional and one of the best gravy or cheese fry type dishes I've ever had ,prices were very reasonable I thought. read more

We visited recently for the first time and had a very odd experience. We arrived around 4:30, sat at the bar. Rebecca at the bar was so lovely and took great care of us. We had a total or 3 rounds of drinks and a few small plates. The ambiance was really nice, and although the service was slow at times (we waited about 15-20 mins before our empty drinks were refilled) and the food was good but not great, we really enjoyed it and were excited about coming back. An extremely rude lady with short dark hair and tattooed arms brought our food out. She said, "what, are you sharing or something?" and I said yes, and I picked up my plate to make room for the food she was setting down. She walked away and left me with the dirty plate in my hands. Around 6:30, we had paid our ~$250 bill and were finishing up our drinks. The same rude lady came over to clear my sparkling water glass and I asked if I could have some regular tap water. She said, "I will give you the water but we are waiting on these seats so you have to leave". There was no one waiting and had never been anyone waiting. My husband told her that was extremely rude and she told us that there is a 1.5 hour limit for the bar. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time instead of being shamed and kicked out when we didn't know. We left immediately and will absolutely never be back! read more

Tried to make a reservation two weeks in advance and online said that I had to call or go in person because my party was five and the max amount of people an online reservation can handle is four. I tried calling and no one answered, so I went in, and when I asked to make a reservation, the girl just looked at me and said there's no availability without even looking at the schedule, didn't even ask what date I wanted. I told her the date and she probably purposely clicked on the wrong date to show that they are full and I noticed and said that's not the correct date, she clicked on the correct date and it showed no reservations and then she went back to get her manager. Came back a few minutes later without the manager and said that her power to make reservations was taken away, whatever that means, and even if they had availability, I would have to make a down payment. I said I can make a down payment and she was like well we have no availability even though on the iPad there were no reservations for the night I wanted. Very rude. I was very excited to try this place, but now will never go after experiencing this. read more
