Fun, cheesy goth club! Don't get me wrong, I use the word cheesy in the best possible way. The interior design is perfect, the boxes, the arches, etc. Really sets a great tone. I love the area out back, it's outsidde but covered, so you can smoke, there's a stage, fun times! OH@ and the hallway back with the sofas. Love it. Really cool setup. The four stars are for the decor and theme of the club. What a gorg place. The people are interesting looking not a fan of the music but it goes with the club. The drinks are pretty strong and the bartenders are relatively quick. The go-go dancers are hot and I like that the deejay booth is above the crowd. The upstairs portion of the club is sexy, a lot of velvet, dark and intimate. They have some soft core spanking...whips, chains etc..I heard that all of this is staged (my friend asked because she wanted to join) The bathroom is DISGUSTING, words cannot describe how gross the bathrooms are. They have another part of the club that is outside which I like to go to for air and a change of scenery. There is a lot of hanging out in a long hallway leading up to the entrance of the club which sets the tone for what is inside. I have been three times and enjoyed it. read more

The OG Goth club in Southern California. Great place you have to visit while you are in LA on a Saturday night. Out door patio with stage for live bands and circus acts, and a fountain of melting candles in the middle to set the mood! Also there is a large dance hall where the dj plays remixes from the 80s to the hits of today, a great place to go dancing. Upstairs there is a bdsm room, even if you aren't into that sort of thing still something you have to see! It's been my 2nd time since ive been coming here and it being my 2nd was honestly not the best experience. My first time it was goth night and wow was it an amazing night not to forget. The 2nd time... wow.. what an aweful night I want to forget... when we left before entering cause it was known for my bestfriend not to wear a sports tee which had no # and name just plain we were asked nicely to go and leave it in the car which we didn't mind *oops* haha but THAT WAS GREAT the two people who charge you are always nice with abit of edge which we don't mind it's a club... but when leaving laughing about the experience security was really.. no sorry VERY rude.. and totally killed the mood like "oh dang wonder who kicked those fuckers out" like excuse me??? We weren't kicked out we were asked to put a shirt in the car and gladly come back.. made me and my bestfriend not even want to go back .. if the security doesn't have anything nice to say don't say it .. there's was nooo need for him to say something like that. What if we were just simply going out to the lot and smoke a blunt real quick away from the club?? Hmmmm??? Gonna make us feel like shit for nooooooo aparent reason? Where do I begin? I used to love this place. I started coming here when I was 21(before they started letting 18yr olds in) and this would be my spot for the next 2-3 years. I would come by every Saturday night and look at all the great looking gothic women. LOVED IT! Back then it was still kind of a low key spot, privy to only those people who had a true passion for the gothic/industrial culture. Fast forward 5+ years and it's just as pretencious as the other hollywood clubs around it. More and more douche bags are coming in with some nasty ass girls who think they are cool cuz they are in a gothic club. The crowd has changed and not for the better. Many of the old school people I met when I first started going there don't show up anymore, and these were hardcore goths. They are probably going to club Ruin. Anyhoot, I have only been back to this place a handful of times in the last 3 years. The drinks are average price, and the music is pretty sweet. Mainly when DJ Amanda plays not so much when the other DJs go up. The downside to the kick ass music is that they moved the DJ booth down to the already small dancefloor and now it's even smaller. Anyone who dance industrial knows you need all the room you can get and this is one of my biggest complaints. There is just no enough room. I gave this a 3 because this was my first club ever and I met a lot of cool people here including TIm the photographer who is a good buddy of mine. The 3 stars is for great memories. Bar Sinister is like an awesome romance you had many moons ago. When Bar Sin and I first met 12 years ago, I was just a kid, barely in my 20's, new to LA and trying to get sorted out. I had been going to goth clubs for years and pretty much had seen it all... Then I met Bar Sin. She was gorgeous and mysterious and drew me in with her dark vibe. Her atmospheric courtyard with its bubbling smoking fountain under the night sky, her darkly romantic interiors with its Victorian touches and wrought iron candelabras; her scent, a mingling of clove cigarettes and sweet musky sexiness; I fell for her and fell for her hard. She used to be very picky back then and would strictly enforce dress codes and hold her standards high. She only wanted people who were the real deal, people who were deep in the scene and lived the lifestyle. Yet despite her being so elite, she always drew a crowd around her that was anything but elitist. I met a lot of people through her and made friends that I still have to this day. Some really fantastic times were had in her company. I even met a beautiful boy here once, who took me on a wonderful 3 year journey, all with her blessings. But the years passed and she I drifted apart. I lost touch with her and started seeing other lovers and before you know it, years have passed. I started to wonder how my former flame has been and paid her a visit recently. I should have just left her in my past. It was a little sad; our connection just wasn't the same. I tried, but it was hard to overlook how far she had declined. This girl used to have standards, but with age, she became less picky and just let any old random Ed Hardy decked, white sneaker wearing frat boy into her treasured space. She still allowed bands to play in the courtyard, but the music in the actual club was all over the place, like she didn't know what or who she was anymore. She updated her looks, but it was lacking the decadence and romance she once had. I still had a decent time, but I knew it was really over between us. And I shouldn't look back anymore. Just cherish the memories and hold on to the experiences we had and just try to remember her as she was. You will always have a special place in my heart, Bar Sin... but it's really over. read more

Bar Sinister is a joke. I've been going since the beginning and I used to like it a lot. Over the years Ive seen all the changes and most of them were for the best. The problem with Bar Sinister really lies with the people who go there. 1.They are not Goth. They're weekenders, posers, and fools. Worse yet, a lot of them are Westsiders "slumming it in the city" so they can feel alive. It's a novelty for 50% of the people in attendance. A fucking freak show. They're actually mocking those of us who really are part of the scene. They don't really know the music, if they did they wouldn't be happy with hearing NIN and Nitzer Ebb and (ack) Goldfrap every week. It's old, done, move on. 2.They fail to realize the depth of the scene. They act as if black lipstick and vinyl clothing are the only ways to be Goth. Never mind the fact that these things didn't exist when we started Goth culture. It's a place for pageantry and the fools that follow it. Notice the people who gave good reviews and then give tips on what to wear. If you were Goth and you belonged here you wouldn't need to be told how to dress. You Ass Hats prove my point. 3. It is just like all the other Hollywood clubs. Lines to get in, high cover, overpriced weak drinks, dress code (fucking lame.) Let me tell a story, it makes a point I swear. So as I said, I've been going to BS since they opened so I know a lot of people there. I've known many people who work the bars and even people in management. I'm also a card holding VIP (they actually have a card.) I'm also a musician, I'm from Chicago and I used to be in a fairly well known Goth band. I was signed to a Goth record label and had played shows to large audiences across the country. I went one night with a friend. He also had a similar background as myself and both of us at some point or another have had our music played in Bar Sinister. So you get the picture that we are probably the exact people that they want to come to the club. Think again. We were stopped at the door because of the way we were dressed. I was wearing old black jeans with rips held together by black safety pins, A motorcycle chain belt, combat boots and a Skinny Puppy Last Rights concert T-shirt. I also had a black Mohawk. I wasn't Goth enough for them. My friend was on the Gothabilly side. Black platform creepers, dark blue jeans (cuffed) I think a Dammed T-shirt and tattoo's up his neck. Black Pompadour hair and thick Buddy Holly glasses. Not Goth enough. They wanted to double charge our cover because we were wearing jeans. I was dumbfounded. All that even with my VIP card! We finally got in but it should never have happened and it's typical of the mood that hangs over the place like the ghost of a dead scene. That is NOT the only incident I could site. These people are complete fucktards. 4.It's a tourist trap! Yes I said it, believe it! Keep in mind a tourist can be someone who lives in LA. There are so many people "cruising the freaks" that there aren't any freaks left and they've taken on the title themselves (just for the night). The people who seem authentic are just converts who started coming in from Orange County years ago and they've made the heart of the new club. They're flimsy. I am very disappointed on the day of Oct 29th you didn't let anyone in until God knows what time. Then manage to charge more than usual. Had to leave at 11:30 because apparently GA admission wasn't good enough to get in. Not even people who already had tickets nor VIP were able to get in until late. It is ridiculous that you @clubbarsinister would take your sweet time to let anyone in and charge at a higher price. It's not fair to your loyal guests that come here every Saturday. I understand it is Halloween weekend but that is no excuse. Other venues had already let their guest in by 11:30!!! My party and I became very upset and finally left. I didn't stay to find out what time your venue would start letting people in. I invited people to come for my birthday weekend only to have them leave because the club time didn't go accordingly. I am beyond unsatisfied at this venue. A holiday weekend is no excuse for you guys to rob people of their hard earned money to enjoy a short amount of time all because you're trying to build a reputation.  Not only did this already made me mad but one of your bouncer wanted to make jokes and told one of my guest that he couldn't come in because he wasn't wearing a costume. We were about to leave because of that until another bouncer said that he didn't mean it. It was just some sort of "test". It was beyond ridiculous because if people didn't know what they're in for going to this club, I think an adult would know. This place was my go to spot. *Warning**Two male thin bartenders from last night June 13th, 2015 at 1:13am was a horrible experience. Those two a assholes of bartenders were so disrespectful to my boyfriend and I. One guy took $24.00 payment for our stoli-vodka drinks while his other partner make the drinks. The guy who made our drinks charged us again another $24.00. We explained over and over to him we gave his partner $24.00 cash and when he asked his partner he said he had not clue what were talking about and behave as though he never seen us before(Really). Both bartenders yelled at us while trying to explain while DJ Amanda was spinning and said if we didn't pay to get the fuck out and they were going to call security(Shocked). One bartender raise his right fist at us as though he wanted to hit us. I was in shock, embarrassed and we were very upset and hurt as to why they would be so rude and aggressive. This was going to be our second round of drinks after sitting upstairs watching Master Paul flogging. Ugh, Not only did they keep our $24.00 they kept our $5.00 tip. When they both yelled at us and told us to fuck off he turned around and kept it. Unfortunately because we left upset we didn't have a chance to speak with Master Paul or Master Gabriel about it. We have been coming to this place for a long time now for the culture and experience, but not to be treated with disrespect by these numb skulls downstairs. I have to give one star because of my wonderful previous experiences but that night was horrible. I hope Master Gabriel and Master Paul take the opportunity to sit down and discuss what happened, count the drawer and make sure this does not ever happen again. Alia! You went WHERE? And did WHAT?! WHY??!! These are the most common responses I get after telling friends of my Bar Sinister experiences. I've been here a few times now and will continue to go back for special events. I should start by saying that I am the polar opposite of everything punk rock, goth, industrial and dark. I mean, I get angry every now and again but I never went to the "darkside" as it were. Now for those who don't want to read my full review or just don't like me jump to the bottom to get the recap. But this story is pretty awesome. My first experience here was after a wrap party, Bar Sinister was hosting Perversion. Myself and over a dozen drunken coworkers and friends hoofed it here from Hollywood. Thank goodness I was half drunk so my heels weren't killing me at all. SO we arrive and the night we went was a bondage whipping S & M night. Now I am all for that. I am simultaneously fascinated and intimidated by the idea. Some of the people in our group were real squares and not at all into that and very much scared by it which, in itself was amusing. We all made our way inside. Most of us were wearing jeans and nice tops, you know, things with color. SO we completely stuck out. So here I am sitting next to a 300 lb. man wearing a ball gag, a collar around his neck, studs of metal and spikes around his wrists; all this on top of the leather straps connected by a ring on his bare hairy chest. To my other side was a couple of svelte, sexy yet pale women with white wigs and wearing what I would best describe as a minimal amount of electrical tape and latex floss cover their secret parts. The downstairs are was a dance floor and there was an outdoor area with a stage although no one was performing that night. Upstairs was where we all ended up. Yup. Right next to the whipping station and the binding area. So Here I am sitting next to the large hairy leather clad man and the sexy pale vampirettes starting to fantasize about the whipping. "Hmm" I thought. I wonder what would it be like? I like kinky, is this too far? While internalizing questions like this, I soon learned that vocalizing myself to drunk co workers is not. I should start the next part of the story by saying that Doug W. has no goddamn shame, at all. He and I are very comfortable with each other and I asked him the above questions. He grinned the scariest grin ever and walked over to the Dominatrix. The next thing I saw was a lot of pointing and staring in my directing ending in the Dominatrix waving me over. She smiled at me, her bright red lips a stark contrast against her pale face. He very tight corset elongated her midsection and she seemed 6 feet tall in her patent leather spiked stiletto boots. She asked if I would like to be "punished"? Um. Sure? My hands went into a cold sweat even when she was reassuring me of how safe and gentle she would be on me. So here I am a glitter flower in my hair wearing a back revealing top bent over on what could only be described as a leather pew. Like in church . . . but . . not . . yeah. Lady O whispered into my ear about the different types of whips and to signal me if I felt it was too much. It was great. really. It actually felt really good. Just the right threshold of pain to make it feel nice and sexy like. Mind you my coworkers square and not were all standing beside me cheering me on or cheering the Dom on, either way everyone knows me at work now. I thanked the Dom for the beautiful experience and headed back to the bar. After my flogging with several types of whips I downed a few more shots and claimed my seat next to the teddy bear wearing the ball gag. It was time for the bondage demonstration. Things are little fuzzy from here on out but I remember seeing a really pretty girl being tied up with ropes in very intricate ways suspended from the ceiling. And when it was all said and tied up a man touched her and teased her for a while. Kinda hot, not for me I'll stick with whips, but kinda hot. Alright. Its the end. Perversion was fun and Bar Sinister is pretty cool. I would advise all people to go out and get some awesome industrial/goth wear to avoid paying high entrance fees. People watching here is great but sometimes it's even greater to be on of the people. I will definitely be back here and dressed appropriately. read more

My sister came here last night on Halloween. Her && her boyfriend bought presale tickets && when they got to the door they were told they would not be able to get in since the bouncer did not think she was in costume. My sister explained to them what she was (lust from full metal alchemy) && tried to show them a picture but they did not care && would not let her in. They never got to go in nor did they get their money back from the presale tickets. She spend a lot of money on her costume and spent a lot of time thinking of it just to be denied entry by some close minded assholes. read more

It's the only place I know that I can rely on for fun and memorable times whenever I return. Awesome place to go. When you finally grow tired of the same old place where everyone tries to wear the brand that's in and some dude is trying to dance with you and you're trying to walk through without getting pummled for wearing a short skirt. This is great and people actually conversate here. Fun and does wonders for creative people who need inspiration or to recharge their artistic batteries :) so yes it's entertaining and fun, you won't regret going, I never have. :) guys can wear whatever they like most. From casual to loud and unusual and girls can wear anything to almost nothing so it's all up to your personality. A friend of mine brought me here awhile back. And now this is my new favorite Saturday night hangout spots. Being a flight attendant i am blessed to travel the world and go to amazing places that locals go. And Bar Sinister is not your average club. its a goth/fetish club. but don't be scared this place is fantastic. They welcome everyone so don't be discouraged if you're not gothic and don't own any black crazy attire (like me) i Just wear a little black dress and some heels. let's start at the door -cover is $5 before 2300 -find on website, Facebook, IG ect... and $10 after 2300. there is a line if you get there around 2230 but if your in line they will honor your coupon (amazing) guy who checks your ID is pretty awesome so funny and easily distracted haha so let him know how many in your party. --its always the same guy every time i go. they also have a coat check $2 (think) - and living on the east coast i got use to this- so i absolutely love this!! there are 3 parts to this club (outside) there is a bar, usually bands play, and smoking is permitted (love it) (Inside) my favorite part. dance floor is a great size, music; sometimes its amazing and other times, its just to crazy with to many beats i just can't seem to relax and enjoy myself. So i usually make a note when i hear a a DJ not to my liking and make sure they are not playing. everyone dances so no shame if you can't (me), no one is Judging you or giving you the stare, never seen any fighting of any kind. (Upstairs) this is where the real fun happens, and being me, i have to experience everything. They have a couple guys (working off tips) that can spank you and tie you up. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul, we chatted a bit and we got started. he used a flogger to whip my tush haha and he stopped to make sure everything was okay then continued. It was pretty fantastic. I usually see all the skinny girls with great bods doing it, but i Hoped that they don't care and the crowd didn't seem to mind. I usually tip $10-$30 the better the experience the more i tip -NO CAMERAS allowed upstairs, this made me comfortable and the employees make sure everyone follows the rules. the drinks are a little over priced and I'm usually the DD. water is $1 and i got a sprite $5 (insane) - a lot of places i have been to give you the first nonalcoholic drink for like $2. but over all its a great place, and i recommend going if you want a change, love to dance, and see some pretty amazing costumes. read more

this is the place to be if you're over 50 and still enjoy dressing like you're 18. this is the place to be if you enjoy watching people over 50 try and relive their "glory days" and failing horribly. this is the place to be if you enjoy watching obese, unattractive people being lightly(very lightly) whipped or spanked in "purgatory" upstairs and moaning/groaning as if they are being truly beaten, or have just taken a huge bite out of a triple cheeseburger. this is the place to be if you like your go go dancers well past their prime, old, and cracked out looking. you should be drunk before entering Bar Sinister. if you are not drunk you will quickly engage in suicidal thought behavior due to the sheer levels of depravity(in a depressing sense) surrounding you. i KID. kinda. sorta. I KID! meh, i dunno what else to say about bar sinister. i go there a lot, probably too much. i'm a white boy who likes to dance and so does the lady. the staff working the door go out of their way to be total pricks. i guess they're proud and happy to give people a hard time. if you're wearing jeans or sneakers, they'll either not let you in or double the cover. usually, it's $15 to get in. cheaper if you're there before 10PM. once inside, there's an outdoor seating/standing area with a bar and small stage. this is where people will be chain smoking throughout the night. there's also a door next to the stage where the vip section is. it's kinda cool in there, dark with another bar and booths. they get the most shitacular bands to play at this place. the sound equipment is awful and you can barely hear the lyrics. down some stairs is where people dance. it's pretty small. another bar, and some places to sit. usually there's some weird psychic doing palm readings. up some stairs is 'purgatory.' they will tie you up and lightly whip you. i guess people get off on the whole voyeur thing. it's more for show than anything serious. there's another small bar up there and also some booths and pillowed couches where drunk people will make out. it is poser central. people trying to be shocking looking. people who are way too old to be exposing themselves. attitude sprinkled throughout. people who just came to see some freaks. more old people not wearing enough clothes. bartenders are ok. hard to get a hold of them sometimes. i find the drinks are fine, never had any watered down complaints. a little pricey i suppose. i did see thrill kill cult here and that was cool. i really wonder why we keep going to this place. it's kind of depressing. it's obvious many of the patrons are tripping on one drug or another. i have to get really hammered just to bare it more often than not. recently, i had a long night at bar sinister, i hadn't eaten and i was drinking like a fish. i fell down the stairs a couple times, fell down on the dance floor a few times, and kicked 3 wine glasses, sending the crashing into the go go dancers lil stages. ah well... went to their 10th anniversary thing the other night. balloons everywhere, pretty packed. we left early after both realizing it's more the people, than the place itself, that just kinda suck. so, come with friends and try not to let it get to you. it'll be tough. i know i'll be back again at some point, but i think i'm taking a vacation for awhile. read more

People seem to have very strong opinions about Bar Sinister. Hey - it's not abortion or gay marriage! It's just a "goth" club. By "goth", I mean...well, it's not a *real* goth club. I've been going to real goth clubs for the last 18 years and this ain't it. I often refer to Bar Sinister as the "Hot Topic Clearance Section" of goth clubs. The majority of the people attending maybe know a Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, or Depeche Mode song but not much more and generally, the music caters to this crowd. So, if you are purist, it may not be your cup of tea. The crowd consists of an odd mix of random pervy younger guys, random pervy older guys, "normal" people who pull out the one black dress from their closet for the club, and a good selection of hardcore regulars. One thing I can say for Bar Sinister is that they make an excellent Key Lime Martini. It may be $8-9, but it's worth it. The ambiance at Bar Sinister really can't be beat, especially since the remodel and expansion of the dance floor. I will also give them props for having some pretty decent band line ups as well. All in all, going to Bar Sinister tends to be an expensive night. Between parking, entrance costs, and drinks, it could easily add up to over $50 without even trying. Get there early for the lower cover charge and save a few bucks. read more

Its literally the club version of me. the music is amazing. Bar Sinister (Saturday nights is goth night) Is "OK" the music is not too great but the S&M show is quite tantalizing. THE SERVICE HERE SUCKS! the bartenders are rude and stupid. They do NOT make good drinks. The price for drinks is ridiculous. ($10 for a glass of cranberry juice, JUST juice?!...no thank you sir.) Entering the club the door person asked me why I was trying to show him my license. I asked was it obvious from my old man's face? He said no, it was my shirt from 1985. Inside I cried. Nothing like a blast of douchery to start an evening. I came to support a friend having an event and was early so I walked down Hollywood Blvd. feeling bad for celebrities with stars on the Walk Of Fame because it was like 42nd Street in the 1970s. Tourists, troublemakers, and grade-school dropouts. A retail ghetto. The club is beautiful inside with all kinds of rooms and alleys to explore. It looks like a film set. I've been to many Death Rock/Goth events in the L.A. area and immediately noticed how commercial and generically non-committal the music was. The opening band was the same. I assume each member's ultimate goal was to get gigs with famous touring bands, which is fine but also everything I associate with the Hollywood scene. The crowd was everything from college kids to creepy AARP members looking either lost (the men) or sadly desperate (the women). Most people dressed for the night but gosh only knows what the ratio was between costumes and actual fetish gear. I counted a number of bicep-curl + bench press overachievers (The NY Workout) looking hard. Most people seemed to be having fun but there were also a lot of deer-in-the-headlight women in small groups who had no idea what kind of freak show they were getting into. Not much but I'm inured from ten generations back. There were 3 or 4 go-go dancers on small elevated platforms. I'm curious what that's about. I imagine it's both empowering and the result of something horrible involving daddy. The bondage loft was bondage-free the one time I looked. People smiled and posed for cell-phone pictures on a rack. Anyway, if you want a real Death Rock-Goth experience I'd go to Release The Bats or Disko Nekro. If you prefer the Hollywood Scene or need a public spanking go to Bar Sinister. For me it was a once in a lifetime experience because I can't imagine the need to go back. read more

This place is sexy and dark and magical.. full of amazing misft, cool, south of normal creatures which is great if those are your homies. I've come here to dance and for shows and the turnout is always really good, lots of variety. people young to old all walks of weird. Drinks are decent, tunes are great, the people watching is epic.. fetish fashion all the way. If you're into suicide girl type girls come here and fall in love. I love the atmosphere but the music was really 2000s emo and can't dance to. If they played music like das bunker it'd be a hit! So funny one night we dressed up a friend to look goth and he got his picture posted but my group didnt, this place is just to make the Gothic pretentious scene. Bought a adios mf and it was so watered down and overpriced didn't catch a buzz. Sorry you're in the smoking zone? No need to cry to security about it. I went here last night and for one the parking is drama and the bar even more, the bartenders have a bit of attitude as most do in this city of wanna be starletts and the music,well if you like dark, gothic, black and moody it will be your scene. It"s great for people watching i would go alone for that, the drinks not so good , overall i don't think i'm going to be throwing on my ripped up thigh highs and red cape anytime soon. read more

I'm shocked this hasn't been reviewed yet. My friends have gone, their friends, friends, and etc... I use to love Bar Sinister years ago when a friend took me here but it's gone down hill since then. The crowds changed, the music changed but the drinks, thank god, have not! This is probably the only bar in the US that distributes Absethine, though it's not the real stuff. They refer it to Absente! It tastes like a liquid version of black licorice. Delicious, tasty and gives you the wickedest hangover! Next door to Steve Boardners is a candlelight alley. That's where you enter to get into Sinister. It's a $5 cover before 10:30 and $10 after. The venue is open every Saturday night only and it's 21+. On Wednesday nights it's called Club Moscow and that's mostly 18+ if you enjoy being hit on by high schoolers who exclaim "Can I get your phone number, my mom's picking me up soon." All black attire is the dress code, this does not include jeans or jersey. You'll either be turned away or forced to pay a higher cover. Choose wisely. The music is usually industrial/goth and they have a patio (with a tarp finally to hide from the rain during the rainy season of course) Bands also perform outside. Upstairs is the bondage room, don't go here if you're not into watching people get smacked around, though it's very entertaining. Downstairs is a bar and dance floor. The dance room needs expansion since it's about the size of a walk in closet. Parking is available across the street for $8 but the lot fills up quick. read more

It's a bit too crowded to dance, the music isn't generally very goth or industrial at times which I guess I've to expect when I go here. If I want to hear other music I have to go outside and engulf myself in cig smoke which isn't very fun. It's ok... but there are better place. The drinks are too much (I don't drink liquor and I pay about 5 or 6 bucks for cranberry juice or red bull which is like strip club prices) Some of the ppl can be d bags but I guess that can happen anywhere. read more

You won't find another club that caters to dark music as well as Bar Sinister. Great DJ lineups that sometimes include members of well known bands, and suicidegirls dancing high above the dance floor. They also have a great sound man when they do love music in the about door area. This club has been running in Hollywood for as long as a remember. It's worth stopping by on a Saturday night at least once or twice just to witness this counter culture in proud form. read more

This place is amazing for someone who has a bit of an edge to them, a wild side and loves heavy pours! The show upstairs is tantalizing and the people who come here are very friendly. I would recommend taking a taxi because the bar tender makes em strong! read more

unprofessional, unethical business!!! visited the place a couple of time in the last 2 years, during my visits, they had house and EDM djs playing! the third and last time was 2 days ago, i came to the place on a saturday night, around 12:45 pm , waring a suit, and my girlfriend a dress, the girl at the front neglected to tell me it was a goth club, she just asked if I've been there before, and wanted to charge 15$ ( at 12:45, 45min before closing ), when i was about to leave, she offered 10$.. for some reason, god knows why, i paid , went in, all the way to the bar, noticing, its a goth night, very much not my thing, i turned around, and went back, and explained to her that i didn't know it was a goth night, and very politely told her that i was in for less the 2 minutes, and would appreciate my money back ( paid cash, no register involved )!!. anyway, she wasn't really feeling like being nice, or understanding, she refused.. i asked a couple of times, and she said she cannot give refunds, that was the rules of her boss, and she have to follow them, ( 2 minutes ago she gave me a 33% discount, without asking permission from no one), when i asked to speak to her boss, she said " go ahead look for him if you can find him", spare me the bullshit, I'm a business man too, i know the rules ), and i ended up spending 20$, on less then 2 minutes of bad rock music. not that 20$ would change my life, but some authenticity, and curtsey, would be nice!! read more

This is a great place to hang out in L.A. I love Counter culture and you will find it here at Bar Sinister. Celebrities sometimes hang here so it is a good place for networking. The people who hang out here are mostly nice people. They have live shows by mostly unknown bands. It is mostly a gothic industrial fetish club. The fetish room is on the second floor is a lot of fun to watch. I only wish the cover was a little cheaper and it wasn't only open on Saturday. It's 10 bucks but a lot of fun... read more
