After reading all the great reviews, I made sure to pick up my sandwich on time so I'd be getting it at its freshest. Unfortunately, for $16 and some change, the sandwich was a miss. I ordered the hot pastrami with everything, pepper jack cheese, dutch crunch, and extra chipotle sauce. The pastrami didn't taste fresh and was missing that rich, savory flavor I was expecting. The quality was underwhelming and reminded me more of grocery store deli meat than a deli that's known for its sandwiches. The dutch crunch was a bit soggy and didn't have much crunch. The chipotle sauce was also disappointing--it mostly tasted like mayonnaise with very little smoky flavor or heat. The vegetables were fresh, which I appreciated, but I wasn't expecting the veggies to be the highlight of a $16 pastrami sandwich. I came in with high expectations, but this sandwich fell short in almost every way. Maybe it was an off day, but this experience didn't leave me with much reason to come back.

Came for the sandwiches and left impressed. Tried the Reuben loaded with pastrami and corned beef, and it delivered on both flavor and portion size. The meat was tender, piled high, and paired perfectly with the melted cheese and tangy toppings. We also ordered the Bam Bam sandwich, stacked with pastrami, corned beef, and roast beef on Dutch crunch. The Dutch crunch added the perfect crunch, and every bite was packed with smoky, savory goodness. Between the two, I preferred the Bam Bam sandwich--it had the best balance of flavors and textures. I'd definitely come back and order this one again. If you're a deli sandwich fan, bring your appetite. These sandwiches are huge, messy, and worth it.

I'm highly upset! I ordered the Cali Club and added pepperoncini's on ciabatta. Service was fast & friendly! I ate on bite of my sandwich and I was in heaven. All of the ingredients were FRESH! They are also very generous with meat. I'm wondering why no one told me to order TWO. It's seriously worth the 30min drive.

Im so disappointed...I have been going to Baras forever. It would be my go to before every A's game and many other occasions. I stopped by this morning to grab my lunch and I just want to scream out "where's the beef" Sprouts is going to put you outta business if you dont step it back up Bara.

Came here during lunch time and let me tell you, you are better ordering ahead because it was busy. They have a separate line for ordering and pick up. It took us about 30 minutes or more from ordering to having our sandwiches ready. Even though it was busy, the cashiers who took our orders were nice and polite. They have a wide selection of drinks, chips, and snacks. Even have international snacks as well. The place have a couple of seating areas if you wanted to eat there which is nice to have the option. We didn't as it was packed. Now to the sandwiches, they give you a lot of meat, like generous amount which is good. Although they gave a lot of meat, they didn't give enough avocado. Tasted just like any other sandwich spot. What separates them is the meat generosity.

We walked in at about 4:10 on a Monday afternoon. There were several people scattered around the dining room. Some were chatting, others were apparently waiting for their orders. We noticed two self-service ordering kiosks to the right but decided to check out the menu board and salad case first. When we were done, the cashier asked if she could take our order. That's always my preference over poking buttons on a impersonal screen. We placed our order, paid, and stood aside to wait. My name was called when our order was ready. It was bagged and ready to go. We thanked the cashier and went home. Normally, I'm not a sandwich guy. Today, after working outside in the sun, I was hungry and had a craving for something filling and cold. Macaroni Salad was on my mind. I looked that up on Yelp and Bara's was reasonably close. I also saw a Shrimp Salad that looked pretty good online. When we arrived home, I proceeded to take pictures of our meal. Sigh. Instead of Macaroni Salad, we got Potato Salad. Not quite the same. A quick peek at my receipt and I saw that the wrong key must have been pressed. I should have checked my receipt after I paid. The cashier should have repeated the order before sending it. The Potato Salad didn't satisfy my craving for Macaroni Salad, but I wasn't about to drive back to exchange it. The flavor was unique though, in that it had a cheesy flavor. The Shrimp Salad was not good. Flavor wise, it was okay with a little bit of heat. But texture wise, it was a mess. If Shrimp was supposed to be cooked for two minutes and then dropped into an ice bath, these had been cooked for four minutes and not iced. They were cooked to death. I got a Bay Area Special with Swiss. It was okay. A ton of meat, not so much on the veg. I would prefer more balance. But overall, it was pretty good. She got The Gobbler. She also felt that the meat overwhelmed the veg. Additionally, the cranberry sauce was overwhelmed by the cream cheese. We came, we saw, we ate. It'll be a long while before I go after another sandwich.

I'm not a deli or sandwich lover honestly. It's not the first thing I gravitate to, but I was craving a crunchy filling sandwich and Bara's had such great reviews. Parking is always tight in this plaza, but I got lucky on a Saturday afternoon. Bara's was poppin when I walked in. Ordering is quick, the menu is extensive, but the man taking my order was so patient. I went with their Bara's combo special with all the fixin's and had to get their dutch crutch. I love that you can choose the bread, and the Bara's combo is great since you can choose your meat/proteins. Turkey and roast beef were juicy and flavorful. Plus their meats are all halal! Every single ingredient was fresh and high quality. The flavors were unmatched. And the bread was perfectly airy and crunchy, without scraping my entire roof of my mouth. It's embarassing I used to get Ike's when there's sandwich spots like Bara's. They have a whole drinks section, chips, and an open deli display case. There's tons of inside seating, great for coworkers, families, or solo dining. No outdoor seating unfortunately. Most of the waiting time is after you order, so allot a solid 15mins, even if you're just waiting for your one order. Bara's is also Palestinian-owned. So not only are you getting a delicious, HUGE portion'd, but fresh meal, you are also knowingly pouring your hard earned money and labor into supporting a local family-owned business. Everything we do has a footprint, including the businesses you choose to support and eat at. Go forth Bara's!

Bara's Deli has hands down some of the best sandwiches around. My go-to order is the Bara's Combo because you get two meat options. I usually choose the peppermill turkey and Italian dry salami on Dutch crunch bread, and it never disappoints. The sandwiches are always fresh, filling, and made just right. I definitely recommend ordering online because it can get busy, and this makes things much faster. Inside, it's very clean and welcoming. They have tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy your lunch, which is a nice touch. They also offer a good variety of chips, beverages, desserts, and sides, but honestly, I usually stick to the sandwiches because they're that good. My husband actually introduced me to this place, and he really loves it too. If you're looking for a solid, high-quality sandwich, Bara's Deli is absolutely worth it.

The Reuben at Bara's Deli with pastrami is a must try! It has a great portion of meat and the sauerkraut and Swiss is tasty inside as well. The rye bread is aesthetic and delicious as well as seen in the pics. My sandwich was ready in less than 10 minutes after ordering and they were relatively packed. Quick service and a yummy Sammy. You can't go wrong. My friend had a macadamia nut cookie. She said it was okay. She said the nuts inside it were tasty. I feel it was little small for 4 dollars.

I haven't eaten here in a couple decades. Decided to go here today with my children. It's changed a lot since my last visit the restaurant is really clean, organized, and has a very welcoming feel to it All of their refrigerators are stocked with so many different beverage choices. It's amazing. I chose the pastrami Reuben and my kids got the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich. The Reuben was fantastic. The sauce was great. The sauerkraut was fresh and everything was perfect. I'm glad that the bread was not soggy. My kids love the grilled cheese sandwich sandwiches it was cheese heaven One thing that really made me emotional about this visit is that they have a sandwich dedicated to a good friend of ours who passed away some years ago who was a San Leandro local by the name of Keagan. They have his favorite sandwich in immortalized as an item on the manual and that brought it here to my eye. This is definitely a down home local spot, all of us San Leandro natives know how good this place is and what a gem it is Everybody there is friendly and makes you feel welcome

Hands down one of the best sandwich shops in the east Bay Area, if not THE best. They're dense with so much meat, sauce, veggies and what not. I've had a few sandwiches from Baras and they never disappoint. I also love that their interior has chips of all flavors, whatever size bag you want too! Oh, and their drink choices are anything from sparkling water to bottled sodas I don't see - unless I'm at a store. So it's nice that they offer a variety of drinks & chips to go with the amazing sandwiches. The employees are nice & you can tell they're hardworking especially during a rush hour, cause I'm sure this place gets busy. I've only ever gone when it's a bit calmer, but they're still busting out sandwiches for online orders and people in the shop. Always fast service & fresh Sammie's. I can't say I have a favorite sandwich since they're all really good, but you'll need to try for yourself.

Came in today to order a sandwich was greeted by I believe the owner first time their asked for recommendations he gave me a recommendation of the chipotle chicken sandwich which had amazing taste wasn't soggy like most hot sandwiches are. And the sandwich was put together nicely and wasn't sloppy. Food and service were a 10/10. Not like most sandwich shops you walk into and are filthy dirty this place you tell that cleanliness is a priority to them. Super clean and amazing service definitely will be back!!

I've been coming to Bara's for over six years now and we feel so luck that they are in our neighborhood. I've even got the T-shirt! But let me be clear, if Bara's wasn't in my neighborhood, I would drive to where they are so I could have one of their sandwiches. They are that good! Bara's is one of the best delis in the Bay Area and I've been everywhere. Here's why: Their sandwiches are bigger than my head. They make them to order with FRESH bread of your choice and you can have them anyway you want. They have combos and meats not available at the corporate type delis like Mortadella and Prosciutto; they have everything. I'm personally a big fan of the Bay Area Special (Turkey/Corned Beef) with everything, they make a great Hot Ruben sandwich and The Godfather (Big Italian Sandwich) takes me two days to eat. I had to get some friends just to help me eat it! Also, check out the macaroni salad with dill. A winner! I now order on the app, walk in and pick up. It's that easy. Lastly, the place is Clean Clean Clean and the family/staff actually gives a $#%* about your order and experience. They are efficient and they recently remolded the place and so looks great. I love these people and I'm going to keep coming back. read more

Bara's is so delicious! Even the one- and two-star reviews agree with that, so that should really tell you something. An unassuming corner spot, you can spot this place from a line out the door. That will also tell you what you need to know. But there's a saving grace: an online ordering system! All you need to do is place your order and it'll be ready in around 20 minutes. No reason to wait in that line. Just pop in, stand in the pick up line, and wait to be helped. Then you'll have your scrumptious sandwich ready to go! The vibe inside is a little like a small convenience store. There are tons of chips, candies, and drinks. Portion sizes are great and the sandwich packed inside the roll is a work of art. They definitely don't scrimp on meats, cheeses, or veggies. I think you're bound to find something you'll like here. read more

Bara's deli has the best sandwiches you'll ever find. I've known Frank the owner and his wife for 35 years and to this day I swear they have the best sandwiches in town. And their potato salad that they serve is off the hook. I highly recommend them to all you sandwich lovers. I will continue to always give them my business. Bara's Deli is one of my favorite hidden gems in San Leandro. They have the best sandwiches and have quick and friendly service. They can get busy during lunch peak hours so I suggest ordering prior. My personal favorite sandwich is the Cali Club or the regular Oven Roasted Turkey with Bacon, both are similar. These sandwiches are very filling, delicious, and you get your moneys worth for sure. The Dutch Crunch bread is perfect. They also have a variety of chips and drinks making it an easy one stop shop for a quick lunch. Overall a really clean place, definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

These sandwiches are huge and delicious. The best sandwich spot in this area by far. They pile on the meat and cheeses and the produce is fresh. I just ate a turkey panini and it was amazing. The meatball was outstanding and the service is great. They prefer you to order online because they get so busy and if it gets too busy they ignore the incoming calls. Unfortunately the full menu isn't available online so your limited. I brought it up to the clerk when I was there last time so we'll see if they fix it. Only reason they don't get 5 stars. read more

4 stars for the win! I usually order a create my own sandwich but they have many tasty options. My coworkers & I go here daily. I also recently introduced this place to my fiancé & he likes a create your own option & he gets it hot. The place is clean & have drinks, chips and a few snacks to choose from also. Definitely hit them up on your lunch break or if your in the San Leandro area. Also add the garlic aioli! It adds an extra umphh! The prices are reasonably priced. A little pricey but you're paying for a food quality sandwich I'd give 5 stars but I did wait quit a bit & wasn't acknowledged but they were occupied doing other tasks But the food is 5 star quality! read more

The food was Good but the customer service wasn't great the middle aged man that worked in the front told me that he would have to walk all the way in the back after I asked for some hot sauce to go with my clam chowder I had to come back to the store to ask for some crackers and still didn't get a spoon I guess they thought I didn't need one to eat with a large clam chowder I'm just saying you shouldn't have to ask for basic stuff. Today I was looking forward to having a Rube. I order my sandwich ask for no cheese ( sorry I am allergic) I went back to make sure the cashier heard me and I was told it was already made with cheese it was too late. I called the store to have the owner hang up In my face. So I went back to the store at which time he started yelling at me that he is tried of people like me he returned my money and said I hope I never see you again. Like the sign says, the best spots are kept a secret! This is a great local shop that has been around the area for over five years. They recently renovated the shop and the interiors looks great! My boyfriend and I discovered this sandwich spot due to a sudden craving for sandwiches. Overall really yummy and filling, they stuff their sandwiches with so much meat, great value for your buck! Bam Bam Sandwich with Dutch bread 4/5 A mix of two meats, fresh vegetables, pickles, and a slice or two of cheddar cheese. Not sure they they had the option to toast this sandwich but it is cold. The sandwich is so big, kind of like a bam in your face! Rueben 4/5 I personally enjoy a good warm sandwich with melted cheese and from a few Yelp pictures I was sold. I got a mix of the two selections of meat and they did not hold back on the amount provided. The sandwich comes with Swiss cheese, melted and it's so yummy. Minus one point due to the meat being a bit to salty for my liking. read more

Man, this is hands-down the best sandwich shop I've ever been to my whole life. Seriously. These cats slice all the meats, cheeses, vegetables and offer some crazy delicious sandwiches, paninis, pasta/macaroni, potato salads. This is how a Deli should be. I was so used to the Togos' and Subways' and even Paneras' which were okay, and familiar lunch staples. But now that I'm working in a new area, Bara's is something I didn't know I was missing for so long. I've been trying something new each time I visit and I just can't believe sandwiches could be so good! My current favorite is "The Hangover" on Dutch crunch bread. I will try my best to post pictures of my next lunch yummies. They also have a great selection of craft brew 4 and 6 packs from all the local Bay Area breweries if you should happen to want to pick up a Friday 4 pack! (Wink wink). You really owe it to yourself to stop by Bara's for lunch if you're in the area. Call ahead if you don't want to stand in line. Wait time is typically 10 minutes at high noon. read more

Our 2nd time Doordashing Sandwiches from here at our job. Both times Bara's Grocery & Deli has delivered. We got the Pastrami the first time it was fresh and huge. Our second try was the Specialty Sandwich it too was huge. Both times the bread was fresh the meats all tasted good. We get a half hour for lunch. We looked on Yelp for something different, we take lunch early and we were surprised that Bara's was open early. Our lunch break is at 10:00 am. We Doordashed at 9:30 both times no problem. Best deli I know of in the Bay. Been going here for years because my job was around the corner. But now I work pretty far and I still make my way down to Bara's - not only for me but for my staff too. They love it! Any sandwich on their sweet roll bread is the way to go. Trust meeeeee! read more

Holy cannoli. Or sandwich. And/or pasta salad. This place is simply awesome. I landed at the Oakland airport and I am not familiar with the area so I checked the map to see what sort of place that had a sandwich, still open after 7 o'clock, was around. I saw a fellow Yelper review about this place and it was so exactly what I wanted that I headed straight there. I got the veggie sandwich on Dutch crunch bread, a small side of the pesto pasta salad, and a small side of the egg salad because it just looks awesome. Everything was fresh, everything was amazing. I also bought a gallon of water to bring to my hotel to play catch-up from a weekend of not being healthy to my liver. Total? $17.74, and this meal could have been shared by two people. Bara's is our family's #1 deli Sandwich place. We do not mind driving even on rush hours from Hayward to San Leandro to get our sandwiches. Fresh bread, fresh meats and veggies. Try their potato salad too, it's so good! Their sandwich also stays good even for the next day. I always end up eating half of my huge sandwich for lunch. read more

Our father opened the business in 1986, as a small grocery store tucked in the Floresta neighborhood of San Leandro. Upon receiving my sandwiches, it was wrapped in a paper with their company logo, and from a quick glance it is super similar to the Jersey Mikes logo in terms of color, so it has a real familiar vibe. No hate just an observation. This used to be another restaurant (maybe even several) on the edge of an industrial zone/business park, but also not too far from several shopping strips. There's spacious seating inside, but in the later afternoon when I went, nobody was eating in. But quite a few take-out and third party pick-ups. I even saw a poster showcasing their catering aspect for common work lunches on the company dime. Good for them. Niles Canyon ($14.50/4*) I opted to up this to their combo meal which includes a bag of chips and a soda for another $5. So this was easily a $20 lunch meal without tipping yet. Pricey yes, but not because they are pricier than most, but that is just the going rate for eating a meal outside these days. $15 - $20 per person are common and anything under $15 is now considered cheap eats and getting harder to run into. This sandwich had slightly warmed up deli turkey that when stacked with the swiss cheese slices, kinda softened the cheese. It wasn't ooey gooey but the cheese wasn't firm and cold either. There was another layer of prosciutto as well which wasn't too noticeable but did add another dimension. I chose to go with the full produce choice, as I love the freshness of veggies to go with meat sandwiches. There was also a layer of fresh avo slices which lent a creamy richness to the bites. I tried one of their sliced breads to go for this sandwich, as I tried a sourdough roll for another sandwich that I got to-go for my work lunch the next day. That way I got to sample their bread offerings. Their sliced marbled rye bread is thick sliced, very soft and moist with a good bread chew. They use a good bread supplier for sure. On top of mayo and mustard which is common, they also put their Bomb Sauce which seems like a garlic-y spread of sorts. I can definitely smell it, but the taste isn't overly strong. I'd say super similar to Mr Pickles. Prosciutto Sandwich ($13/4*) This was an all-cold traditional sandwich. I took a couple of bites there to see how it was fresh from the counter, and I ate the rest the next day at work. I gotta say I liked it better the next day as all the flavors melded more together. Even tho the veggies get a bit mushier, I've always liked a well dressed salad sensation in sandwiches, kinda like a Muffeletta sandwich where it is refrigerated overnight, meant to be eaten the next day. Their prosciutto isn't the old school imported version, or at least I've never had one quite like it. I'm assuming a domestic version, even seemed more like cappicola to me as I sensed a tinge of fennel up in there. So pretty satisfied with my first visit. I'll definitely get sandwiches here again for work or day trip lunches. Pretty much on the same level as Togo's or Mr. Pickles, but just more local. With sandwich names as The Quarry Lakes, The Decoto and The Dumbarton, just pulls on my local lovin' heartstrings. Props.

This place caught my eye when I saw someone posted a picture of their sandwich on their instagram lol. The sandwich looked so mouthwatering that I just had to plan a trip there. The deli is located in a small plaza, but there was plenty of parking. I had a large order, since I was bringing food back for my family, and they had my order finished within 10 minutes. The turkey sandwich that I ordered was on a Dutch crunch roll. I added all the condiments on it and asked for extra avocado and jalapeños. Man, it was on HIT. I couldn't even finish the full sandwich because it was so full of everything--it had a good amount of veggies and turkey (the avocado was an extra charge of course, but it was worth the extra dollar. Since avocado is expensive around this time, I was also surprised that they added a lot of it. I wish I was able to give them an extra star just for that because I'm an avocado freak )I tried the Ike sandwich place that's located it downtown Oakland and I swear, this place put them to shame. I always thought this place was a liquor store, but who knew they had a little secret?! This place offers some of the best mouth watering sandwiches I've ever had, especially the grilled chicken breast which is one of my favorites. It is owned by a super friendly family that have been there for 30+ years which is rare nowadays. It is a very casual environment with some tables and chairs if you wish to eat there. They offer a good variety of homemade salads, chips and drinks to choose from. Honestly you get a big fat bang for your buck with the amount of meat they put on the sandwiches. Their prices are reasonable... I've been to places where they will charge extra to have a french roll instead of slice bread or for extra veggies and will put less than a quarter pound of meat which equals 3 or 4 paper thin slices. I LOOOOOOOOVE THIS PLACE.. THEY "ARE" THE BIZNESS.. One of my son's friends recommended this place years ago and we finally started going a couple years ago and hooked.. Their sandwiches are HUGE and they give you beyond your money's worth.. I enjoyed their sandwiches so much that for my mom's casino bus events, with over 70 people, we've used them and the sandwiches were so huge, we had to break them in halves as no one could finish an entire sandwich.. The service is always excellent and as it's family run, the dad, the sons, cousins and all else are ALWAYS friendly to me and my son they're just WONDERFUL.. You don't find businesses like theirs too often anymore and just know they ARE appreciated.. The absolute best deli I have been to, considering I have gotten a lot of sandwiches from a lot of different places. They provide a lot of meat and never hold back in the contents of your sandwich. They are also a grocery store so you can get your side of chips and a drink as well. The customer service is friendly and always willing to help. You can pre-order your order, which is very helpful at lunch time or any busy time of the day. I finally had a chance to try this sandwich spot in San Leandro and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Hangover sandwich, which was super tasty, and the Bay Area sandwich, which was also really good. It's not the cheapest sandwich you'll find, but the quality makes up for it. With most lots like this you can't be compelled to pay the tickets - only when the city issues tickets are they enforceable. The plaza is privately owned, and everything is leased out. So does San Leandro own it? Does the plaza owner think these meters are good for our city? I think the plaza owner will be happy to know that I am on the case and I've never lost a war in my life. I lose fights often, strategically, but never the grand scheme battles. Issues that affect my fellow citizens (like this) are a marathon, and I sprint through them. I promise these meters will be removed. If they refuse, I will demand an appropriate sacrifice from the plaza ownership. If the city somehow owns this plaza and installed these meters - Is San Leandro in need of our quarters that badly, and if so, why don't these even accept quarters? Only allowing electronic pay is certainly a decision. They probably expect us all to be robots in a few years and want to get their infrastructure ready to squeeze the oil out of us when that day comes. I used to get tickets in parking lots in Walnut Creek and would just tear them up. It never came back to haunt me. If I kept parking in those same lots I suppose they could eventually tow the car but I wouldn't give them the opportunity. I still like lowkey small businesses like this one, no frills or decorations, just show up for food. As far as sandwiches go I don't think this is my preference but they come across as very nice and consistent. Other people like this place, it seems. I don't like cold stack sandwiches unless some attention goes into the accents so I'm not the target audience here. The lady at the front was very friendly but this isn't really a sit down service place, they just give you the food.

Not answering the phones, but your doors are open and you are serving patrons who were white and turning away people of color coming through the door, during normal business hours according to Google and no signs on the door indicating special hours today. All while turning away POC patrons on MLK day. Nope!!! Do better Roccab. You could have taken the time to post special hours and since you were in fact open, you could have answered the phones to let customers know you had special hours today or that you were Not open to the public. These are simple things to do. And it looks really awkward telling someone you are not open, when you have other people dining inside your establishment.
