We decided to check out barbecue. It's a cute little shop with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's almost a self serve where you order at the front. You seat yourself and serve yourself with the water and sauces. However, they'll bring your meal to your table. It was only one person working. I think he's the owner. He was very sweet and nice despite being very busy! Since he was working by himself, the wait can be a little long to order as he makes and serves the previous orders before taking the next order. The barbecue was good. We got the meat platter to share between two of us to try a variety of their items. It comes with a 1/4 lb of sausage, turkey, and pulled pork, 2 sides ( beans and coleslaw), and the corn muffin. I actually really enjoyed the baked beans, which was mildly sweet and tangy. The ribs were sold out before I got there, but the smoked sausages were a good consolation prize. He gave me two different kinds of barbecue sauce with them, one a little spicier than the other. I can't choose between them which is better. They were both so good. The corn muffin was pretty standard, but the top had a nice extra sweetness to it. I took the food home because it was about 20 minutes until closing and he had already cleaned up and put the tables up. It's a pretty small seating area anyway, and I didn't mind taking my food home. We walked by just as they were opening, there was a small line. We decided to try it and glad we did. You have to be patient here, it is a one order at a time system. The pulled pork sandwich (14) was piled high and tasty, nice standard sauce and a spicy option. I picked up some smoked turkey meat (14.00 1/2 lb) it was good also. There was a steady line of customers coming in and in line for the hour we were there. I am sure they sell out, which is common where I am from with BBQ. Why stay open if you sell out? Just like a good donut place, go early before they sell out. I order ribs usually, but 26 for a half rack with a side, is steep to me. What I consider as the best ribs, are in NC and are under 20 for the half rack. The prices are on the high side to me, but will go back for the pulled pork sandwich. It was good! I did not see the ribs, but one person came in and bought 2 full racks to go. They must have a following. I don't care about brisket and did not even notice it was not on the menu. I am not from TX or a TX BBQ follower, that has brisket as a staple, so this place fits in my world. lol Place is clean and very small, a little smokey but that makes a BBQ place to me. Someone referred me to this place, and I am so glad they did. It's a tiny place, mostly takeout. On the day I was there, the man working was doing it all (order, fill order, package and pay). No one minded waiting at all. I took home a half rack ribs for dinner and a small (not really) pulled pork sandwich for lunch. Both were so, so good. I'm very picky on my barbecue, I decided to try the pulled pork sandwich from here. It was REALLY good and they give you ALOT of meat, half of it fell out of the sandwich. The sauce was really good as well. They only had two side options, coleslaw and potato salad plus corn muffins. The menu is very limited. My wife picked up some great BBQ from this small joint in PA. We did not know what to expect, but we were surprised on just how great the food was. We had the chili that was very hearty and delicious without being greasy. The corn muffin that came with it was not too sweet as other places make them. The pulled turkey was amazing and cooked to perfection. We also had a small slab of baby back ribs that were also very delicious. A dry rub was used that had the perfect amount of spices. The BBQ sauce is out of this world. Perfection! Not too sweet and not too tart. My wife who picked up the order said that the owner was very friendly and was helpful to see that we had all of the utensils we needed. They threw in a couple of corn muffin which typically I get disappointed with but these we moist and really yummy. I got there at 1:30 in the afternoon and they were out of smoked turkey. The owner said he had smoked 2 turkeys that day and yet they gone. I have a friend who said she had their smoked turkey and pulled pork nachos were killer. Can't wait to go back and try them. The only challenge was I had to park around the corner but that's not enough to keep me from coming back. There are other places in Port Angeles that claim to have Barbecue but don't waist your time. These are the businesses you want to see succeed! I've been in 3 times now, early on a Saturday before stuff gets sold out. The ribs and the pulled pork are *on point.* The nachos are good...I'm a bit particular with tortilla chips. Solid baked beans. Excellent sauce! Staff is friendly, efficient, and appropriately masked. Hopefully business will get to the point where they can expand their hours, but I just want everybody to make it through the COVID for now. Pretty gross barbeque but I guess the competition is pretty minimal in Washington. Got the ribs and they tasted like propane and were dry and chewy. The only bbq sauce offered is so sweet it will make your toes curl. If you are from the east coast and are used to real bbq, I'd avoid. read more

Had a great lunch at blue. I had the pulled pork sandwich with quest and my gf had ribs with sides. The meat was smoky and tender and the sides were excellent. I thought this was a great value lunch. This is by far the best barbecue on the Olympic Peninsula. They now have reopened following some equipment upgrades. 1st visit Tim said he waited for a guy who didn't pick up his slab of ribs. So HE called the guy to offer a FREE slab on his next visit "to build customer relations." Then waited until my credit card cleared to had me my order. I built pts for free pulled pork sandwich but Tim keep closing & changing hours for COVID so I missed it. I've been back twice now since & keep mentioning my pulled pork pts. to no avail. 'No building customer relations w/me apparently! I've NEVER seen another black person in his shop & maybe he doesn't feel I'm worth 'building a customer relationship' with, but I'm the one who won the WA state lottery!
