Ehhhh I tried their chicken empanadas and let me just say, they were alright. The outside was great, the crust of this thing was very crispy and flaky. Omg I have been stalking this truck for awhile now. Soooo addicted to their food! Spanish mac & cheese-manchego cheese, pasta, serrano chili oil nice with a little kick to it! Had the pleasure of this Gourmet truck stopping by my work place! I'm a fan of all these gourmet lunch trucks so I had to try this one! The food was really delicious I would give them four stars but I gave them one less star for their prices. They are little pricey compared to the other trucks! But definitely worth a try! I don't like dates at all but their bacon wrapped dates make u rethink dates! But then again anything wrapped in bacon is bound to taste good! These are really good! Their sweet potato fries are excellent & addicting! My friend got the top sirloin & fries w/ Chimichurri sauce & the steak was tender & juicy & that Chimichurri sauce was super delicious! Yummy! - Fries that are done to perfection - mostly crispy, but soft on the inside - Chimchurri sauce that just won't quit! - Visa/MC accepted! 3 stars because: - Kind of pricey for your normal food truck fare - Sirloin was a little under-prepared (even though the meat quality was pretty good) - Sirloin was sliced too big for "bite size." This was my first time hearing about and eating at Barcelona on the go. I didn't know what to expect but it was free to me (company lunch) so what the hell, I got nothing to loose. Their normal non catered menu looked good and they had four offerings, one steak, two chicken, and a vegetarian. I didn't see anyone take the vegetarian option, the steak and chicken sandwich options seemed to be most popular. I took the steak frites option with chimichurri. I was asked how I wanted my steak and they nailed the doneness perfectly (mid rare naturally) , the fries seemed fresh and while the chimichurri was a bit thicker than Im used to it had great depth of flavor and just the right amount of garlic. All told, I was very impressed by Barcelona on the go. This is definitely a truck to go back to. When you can nail with great flavor and technique with something as basic a steak frites without resorting to uber high end ingredients or unnecessarily exotic technique. Then you've done your job well. Well done folks, well done indeed. Four stars for staying in the OC area and denying us LA folks more chances to experience your food. read more

My Steakhouse quesadilla had no flavor, very little steak and when I asked for sour cream they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and had attitude about it. Ate here today and for the price for the taste... its good, not great, just ok, its like a B- .. Also some dissapointments bc the truck was late, so the paella wasn't ready by the time our lunch break was over and there was no croquettes. The chicken empanada was good, nice texture, spicy, tender meat, crispy outside. 2 for $5 I could have had more filling Serrano sandwich - this was like $7 and while the bread was crispy i felt it was a little oily. And the serrano in the sammy was really skimpy and on top they added some sort of other cured meat, salami looking, to it that over powered the taste of the serrano. I would have like to seen more serrano since it is a serrano sammy and bc the bread is so thick. Steak - $9, good, chimichurri was good, it was chewy but thats because of the cut of meat. Basically - nothing BLEW my mind, nothing made me go "yeck" so all in all it was alright. Would I try again? Yes .. but not all the time, pricey for lunch. And I think everyone's hypin it because as far as your lunch choices go in Irvine, for that price I guess its a better offering than all the other chain places. And it kitschy being in the truck, following it on twitter and FB .. very New York comes to OC. What this really tells me is that OC is DYING for some real Spanish joints .. some Tapas joints .. and don't say Boqueria. I have eaten from Barcelona on the go several times and I have enjoyed everything I've ordered. The first time I had the bacon wrapped dates, which were great, but it would be better with some cheese inside. The empanada was really good. This weekend, Barcelona on the go came to my church (Mariners Church in Irvine) and I was able to enjoy more. Last night, my sister ordered the sausage sandwich, the ham and cheese panini and the chicken sandwich for us. The panini was a little salty but with the mixed greens, it was a good combination. The chicken sandwich was okay, nothing to write home about. I didn't get a chance to taste the sausage sandwich, but watching my sister devour that thing, I'm assuming it was pretty dang good. I guess since she wouldn't share, that is a good sign. Today, I had the Grilled cheese and bacon sandwich which was on foccacia bread. I loved it. Greasy, crunchy and gooey. There was a slight sweetness inside the sandwich which tasted like some kind of marmalade or sauce. Whatever it was, it added an extra layer of flavor that was a great addition. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just how I like it. I enjoyed my lunch today. What's not to love about greasy food? For a fast food... I find that it fares pretty well. I had the top sirloin steak on fries with chimichuri sauce. I had my steak medium well.... came out medium but edible nonetheless. The yummyness comes from the tons of salt put on the fries and the sauce. It was addictive. I find the experience okay because it was overpriced... $9 for a few slices of steak and you get fulfilled with greasy fries. I was hungry not an hour later... but felt like a big cow after all the grease. But, I'll eat it again when I have cravings for miniature steak slices, yummy sauce and salty fries... cuz there's nothing better than greasy food! read more

So on this day, my fiance and I decided to try something new... We got here around 12:30PM and they had run out of almost everything we wanted to order... So we settled on the chimichuri fries and the shrimp tacos. The Good: -Chimichurri was tasty, but almost had a tangy taste to it... not sure if I loved it or hated it... -Steak on the Chimichuri fries was SUPER TENDER and really tasty -Fries covered in steak juice/chimichuri = YUMMMMMMMMM (Salivating... Drool!) The Bad: -Top sirloin tacos were out... at 12:30PM? For lunch? Huh? -The shrimp tacos didn't have a whole lot of flavor... And for the flavor that was lacking, it seemed like they added a whole lot of sauce and seasoning.... Eh... The Ugly: -Pricing wasn't so good... They were one of the trucks at the Great Park Farmers Market today. I tried the USDA Prime Top Sirloin & Fries w/ Chimichurri ($9) because it was called their "signature dish". I asked for my meat medium. It came out with chunks of meat on top of the fries with the Chimichurri sauce on top. The meat was medium rare to medium well. A little of everything. But that's okay, I eat my meat all different ways. The fries were just okay. There were crispy on the outside. Just not much flavor even with the chimichurri on it. Picked them at a food truck roundup in Irvine. Ordered the shrimp tacos and spicy fries. Took a few minutes to get the freshly made food. Tacos were yum! A bit messy, but hey, that's street tacos. Well seasoned and cooked and enough sauce and cabbage, definitely liked them. The fries were well cooked, crispy but soft inside and dusted with bright red spices. Not happy with this food truck. I looked online at their menu before actually going to the truck. I was really looking forward to their Roasted Veggie Panini, it sounded so good!. But when I got down to the truck, their menu was 1/2 the size of their website menu, and no Roasted Veggie Panini! I asked about it and the guy just said, no we don't have that on our menu. Best empanadas EVARRR (pirate voice of course) Seriously, Esteban is an amazing guy and Mariela makes the best empanadas. It's $5 for two hand sized empanadas, they are fried but they come out deliciously flakey like a well made pie crust. Filled with chicken and smoked paprika it's just the greatest empanada you will ever eat. I eat it with a little aioli, and though I know that's sacrilegious, Esteban still gives me some cause he's cool like that. Also the quince y manchego is great. I've been reading and hearing about Barcelona OntheGo for some time now and finally had a chance to try it at the SoCo Farmer's Market today. And it was everything I hoped for! I started with the Spanish Ham and Cheese Panini - if you like Manchego like I do, this is a dream come true! Nicely paired with the slightly spicy ham and roasted red peppers. After the rich, generously-sized panini, I was no longer hungry, but that mattered not... I went on to try the the truck-made chilaquiles which were crunchy, saucy and cheese and very delicious! What a great start to my weekend! As for wait time, it was rainy at the market this morning so I didn't wait long at all, but the food is so good it's worth a long line wait in my book. I was craving something good for lunch today (Wednesday) and I knew that there were always trucks in my area on Wednesday's. I checked out the lunch trucks on Teller and Michelson in Irvine. I went to Barcelona and tried the steak fries with chimichuri sauce and it was very good! The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy. The sauce is what makes the meal. My co-workers/ food truck sidekicks rave about the Steak fries here. I am a huge Lime Truck fan so despite my loyalty to them I decided to try Barcelona today. I didn't get the famous steak fries cause I think $9 is a little steep. I had the top sirloin tacos. For $5 you get two tacos with a corn salsa, I always load my food up with hot sauce and the Tapatio was handy so naturally. My food was served up quickly and was perfect temp. However, I was kind of let down by the flavor. It was nothing special from any other tacos I have had. I was full but still tastery (hungry for taste). I was educated on this food truck by my wife when she told me that it would be trying out a new spot by my office. I was up for a change from the regular subs/chicken etc...and popped on up to Eclipse and Icon in Lake Forest. We got there at 1145, they arrive at 1130 I saw from their twitter feed (BarcelonaOntheGo). The menu is short, but the flavors in the food is not short at all. I was going to go for the Paella but I was told that it would take 20 minutes, and I was shooting for a quick lunch. I quickly decided on the Flat Iron steak with chimichurri sauce. Which came with fresh cut fries. The flavors were outstanding and hit the spot on a Monday morning. My co-worker went with the Ham and manchego cheese croquettes and those were creamy and tasty as well. While he waited for his croquettes, Esteban brought a small up of the lentil soup to tide him over and he couldnt stop raving about it. That said I am now a follower of the truck as well as many of the other customers that were in line that have all eaten there before. When we showed up to the Breury, excited to sample some handcrafted beer, imagine my disappointment when realizing that the only culinary choice this evening would be from a truck. Because I was hungry and the beer we were about to consume had an 8.5% alcohol content, I decided to give it a try. The menu surprised me. Top sirloin tacos, panini made with Italian hams and cheeses, sausages with fresh peppers and sweet potato fries. I chose a panini and sweet potato fries. Wow! What a delightful surprise! The meats and cheeses blended together perfectly between two slices of delicious pieces of rustic bread. The fries were the best I've ever had. They tasted like sweet little donuts with a slight touch of salt. The meal was fairly priced. You would pay at least double for the same meal at a restaurant. My opinion has changed. I will now eagerly look for more of these restaurants on wheels and I will be following this one in particular! read more

Steak fries, no salt, chimichuri on the side. So bomb. This truck is the only truck at 5-Food-Tuck-Thursdays off Technology and Alton in Irvine that is consistent. They're always there, and ready to go at 11am. This is awesome considering that other trucks aren't there or don't open up until almost noon. I have only tried the steak fries and the bacon wrapped datesfrom this food truck, but I'm till giving it 5 stars because it's that good. The steak fries are exactly that. Large slices of prime steak cooked to order served on top of a bed of french fries, topped off with chimichuri sauce. I'm a stickler when it comes to salt and sauce, so I order the fries without salt and the chimuchuri on the side. This meal will not dissappoint, and will leave you satisfied enough to go back to work, but not so full that you'll be in a food coma. The bacon wrapped dates are interesting, in a good way. They're extra rich, so don't be surprised if you don't eat a whole order. I don't really know how to describe the flavor profile... they're sweet, salty, rich, and a little crunchy all in the same bite. Really, you'll need to try them and judge for yourself. 5 stars for the bacon covered dates. OMG, bacon covered mother f-ing dates. They left me speechless. Went back the next week and ordered practically every other thing on the menu.
