This is usually a favorite place. I realize it is busier now during the holidays, but the service was very slow tonight. There were 2 of us and we were there 2 1/2 hours. Although the steak I had was very good, the side (gnocchi) was very hard and cold. I told the server and the person who brought and took plates away. No one seemed to care one way or the other. I'm really surprised this place isn't rated higher. My sister and I met my friend from Boise here during my road trip out to Seattle, WA and was extremely impressed with this place. They had a good array of drinks (particularly in terms of beer) and a lot of delicious food to choose from. I settled on the pear spinach salad, which is tossed in shallot vinaigrette and comes with crumbled gorgonzola cheese, diced pears, and balsamic-orange glazed walnuts. You can add shrimp, salmon, or chicken for an additional charge. I added the salmon and it was SO worth it. They basically added a whole salmon filet, which was incredible. I could not believe the portion and how great it went with the salad. My sister went with the fan favorite and ordered the black bean and sweet potato chimichanga, which comes with Mexican Cotija cheese, sweet potato puree, corn and black bean salad with cilantro, onion, and bell peppers. It was served with mango salsa and chipotle spiked sour cream. I took a bite and it was very good. I finished my meal with their vanilla bean cheesecake, which was a VERY good cheesecake. I thought the graham cracker crust was delicious. Absolutely no regrets with that dessert. In sum, a very delicious lunch and great break from my road trip. I can't wait to return. read more

We ate here for a number of years. Loved the summers and eating outside. This is the prime people watching restaurant in Eagle.....after that enjoy medoicre bar food. One bright spot is the hot Trout dinner....very resonable on price and very good.....after that...enjoy something. read more

Love both downtown and Eagle locations. Would like to see Saturday and Sunday brunch in Eagle. Have not had a bad meal there. Service is usually great. Love the Albacore Tuna, portobello mushroom sandwich and the salmon filet. The pork chop is amazing. So glad Eagle has hostess seating. My daughter came in from Seattle and wanted to go (at the last minute) on a recent Saturday to a nice place to celebrate her new job. With 9 of us it was impossible to get last minute reservations at any of my tried and true favorites, so after checking reviews, I decided to go to the Eagle Bardenay. I am sure glad I did! We walked in at about 5:30 and the staff gladly moved tables together for us and we were seated immediately. Service was prompt and our waitress was so professional and fun at the same time. Drink orders came out promptly followed quickly by our appetizers and entrees. Even though the restaurant filled up quickly after our arrival, our waitress followed up with drink refills and checkups on us the entire time we were there. Food taste and quality was remarkable considering the cost was quite reasonable. Favorite choices were pork tacos with amazing homemade kimchi. Not authentic but oh so delicious! The salmon portion was huge and perfectly cooked and the seasoning was sooooo good it was a party in my mouth. Everyone else loved their choices and we enjoyed our stay. The room did get noisy as it filled up, but it was not intolerable. I wish it was possible to get reservations as by the time we left there were people waiting to get seated. read more

For example "homemade coconut cake" was tough and dense both from overmixing batter to storing in the refrigerator too long. Beef in the pita sandwich was very tough and nor chewable in the sandwich. I have been coming to Bardenay for about a year now and I have never been disappointed with the food and also have never been disappointed with the service up until now. My girlfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary last night and we were so excited to go because Bardenay is our favorite place. When we got there we seated ourselves and a waitress came to us quickly asking for our preference on drinks, it seemed like before we could even get out a word the waitress just said I will get you two water while you look at the menu and ran off. When the waitress came back we ordered drinks and an appetizer she never once even looked at us smiled or anything she made us feel like we were bothering her. We got our food and we ate and she did check on us twice but what bothered me the most was another couple sat at the table next to us and that same waitress greeted them and made small talk and smiled with them and waited for them to order drinks? (It was not a busy night at all) At the end of the night she came to us with the bill and i pulled out my card and she ran it on her card reader and turned it around with the tip selections I was so bothered because I wanted this to just be a nice day and experience for my girlfriend and I but that waitress made it into probably the worst experience I have had at Bardenay I can honestly say I was a little torn on whether to leave a tip or not. I did though reluctantly and a good one too. I can't say all was bad the food was amazing as usual but I don't know I am still bothered by the whole experience to be honest I don't know if I will go back.i just hope Bardenay stays on top of how their waitresses treat guests because this just wasn't ok. read more

A close friend who truly knows fine food from gastro pub to haute cuisine and now lives in the North End of Boise recommended Bardenay, and my partner had been to their Boise location with her and enjoyed it so we went so I could try their burger and share my findings on Yelp. It's a great looking place, masculine, sophisticated and very comfortable. They've got a gargantuan patio that sits along the rivers edge and makes mighty fine al fresca dining when weather permits. It's casual enough that customers pick and choose where they want to eat and it worked fine on weekday at 2:00 PM so we found an empty 4 top mostly in the sun although it was fast eclipsing as the sun went over the roof top. We had a great server who was super attentive when we wanted or needed him, and invisible when we didn't. It's an interesting menu that is heavy Mediterranean with plenty of room for casual Californian. The appetizers just didn't sound appealing so we went straight to my burger and my guests Salmon ka bob which loved and was quite generous. I ordered their burger with Swiss cheese and fries but could have got sweet potato fries, a small dinner salad or a small Caesar. I asked that it be cooked medium and that's exactly what I got. The burger came on a standard white china plate with a mound of piping hot house cut fries, and after making a dent in the fries I found three small slices of sweet pickle and about half a slice of red onion. I lifted off the top half of the bun and although it was perfect for the meat, dairy, produce and condiments it contained, it would have soared if it was toasted or briefly grilled. The Swiss cheese was generous and perfectly melted and the meat was cooked nicely. I asked for Mayonnaise and a ramekin of room temperature, creamy and bland sauce appeared and it was mediocre at best. There seemed to be no sauce or produce on the burger so I assumed they didn't offer either, until I reduced the pile of fries and discovered the above mentioned pickle slices and meagre slice of onion. all in all it was a quite good cheeseburger, not one I could rave about, but well conceived and executed with high quality makings and fixings. I recommend Bardenay and hope they notch it up a bit. read more

The Salmon is always cooked perfect at this lovely riverside restaurant. Something I can't say for other Boise restaurants! The drink menu is divine and is what keeps us going back to try the new selections. Even the busboys are polite, watching diligently to whisk away any distracting dirty dishes when you have finished. I used to go to both the downtown and Eagle Bardenay at least once if not more per week until they stopped carrying Splenda. I know it sounds dumb, but I love ice tea and diabetic - Splenda is the only sweetener I like. I brought my own for a while, but got tired of it. I figured that since I spent between $100-$150 in per week (family and clients) that I did not need to pay for my own Splenda. I would also like a bottle of ketchup vs the rationed ketchup cups. I always need more and then have to wait - sometimes for a long time if they are busy. Bottom-line, Bardenay is good - but, they do not offer the little extras to put them above the competition. read more

This is a very busy place anytime--lunch or dinner! The food is very good, the service as well. My only complaint is that it's very noisy and sometimes hard to have a conversation. However I was here recently with my brother and had a delicious meal at lunch time. We were able to talk without screaming at each other. I had the burger special with sweet potato fries and it was such a huge amount I ended up taking half of it home. We were eating the fries for a few days and they were yummy! Burger was great also! I like the salads here as well. When the weather is nice the patio area is a good place to sit and enjoy a meal. read more

We were in/Eagle visiting my wifes family and they suggested we go to Bardenay for dessert and drinks. We get there and sit near the bar area. The whole purpose of our visit was to try the carrot cake which we heard was the best around. When we get around to ordering we find out there is no carrot cake because their distributor did not deliver any that morning. Of course I was disappointed but oh well, I end up ordering the pineapple upside down cake. My wife and her family that was with us decide to order a bottle of the Moscato D'Asti to share. The pineapple cake comes and it is dry and disgusting. My wifes uncle orders the chocolate cake which comes out looking like a Ding Dong except with out the aluminum foil. When the wine comes, instead of one big bottle, we get two small bottles. Why, because we are told they are out of the regular sized bottles. We were specifically told by our waitress that we would only be charged for the one regular bottle size since it was their fault they were out and had to give us two smaller bottles. Of course when the bill comes we are charged for the two smaller bottles which is significantly more than the one regular bottle that we ordered. We remind our waitress what she told us and she goes back to talk to the bartender. Ends up since we got 4 glasses instead of 3, we get charged for both bottles. Does this make sense? The waitress doesn't seem willing to adjust our bill even though she assured us originally that we would only be charged for the regular bottle that we ordered. Instead or arguing we just pay he bill and leave, wasn't worth it. Needless to say we won't be going back next time we are in the area. read more

We walked over from the hotel next door and met up with a friend. We were cheerfully greeted by the hostess and sat quickly. Our serve was very polite and explained to us the menu, answered our questions and quickly brought us our water and our drinks. I tried the Red Panda which was pretty good. We had a great dinner and found the food very tasty and delicious! My husband and local guest had the steak wrapped in bacon and they both said it was was wonderful. I had a pasta dish that was really good. We enjoyed our dinner and we later walked back over for a night cap outside on the patio once the weather cooled down. The service was great and the food was worth the walk for sure! We came back our last night in town and I ordered the Blacked salmon with lettuce wedge. Oh my it was soooo good! Our server wasn't the friendliest person. But she got the job done and the food made up for it. We never waited for our drinks or food and the food was so good we didn't care! If in town or in the area I would recommend this place! We can't wait to drive back 9 hrs to eat there again. read more

Loved!! My family and i went in this week and had a great time. First off we were greeted by our server jody who even though was busy she made us feel like priority. Addressed my kids directly which made them feel all grown up! I ordered the trout and my husband ordered the beef filet. Talk about melt in your mouth! It was busy so we had to wait..which we wouldnt have expected different with how many people were there! Jody did recommend some drinks and an appetizer to hold us over..sitting by the beautiful river we were just fine waiting. It was a great and fun atmosphere we will definitely be coming back!! The place was a perfect for my gf and me. It was a nice ambiance with low light. Service was fast and food was delicious.

Most menu items are good and the service has been acceptable. Just don't order the fish tacos or fish and chips. Evidently, the chef has not instructed the staff how to properly deep fry breaded fish. Without fail, the fish comes to the table a dark brown color, extremely crusty, and as dry as a bone. I went for dinner on the patio back in May and had a bad experience. I rarely post comments in yelp but decided it was something I had to do. I received a very nice reply from one of the mangers and she encouraged me to give it another try. Well I went there again on 8/3/2016. It wasn't horrible but was less than what I would expect. Here are my comments: The waiter never brought us refills on our drinks. One person at our table never received salad dressing but by the time the waiter came back to the table he was already finished with the salad. I still have a few bites of my plate and the waiter took my flight away before asking me if I was finished. The place is OK if you like pub grub. We keep wanting to give this place a second chance and it keeps disappointing :( Last night we ordered the pork loin sandwich that was very dry and the bread was old and hard. My wife ordered the fish and chips which said were beer battered but were just breaded and way over fried. The calamari appetizer was chewy.
