I ordered The Rambler veggie patty burger, figured it would be good if vegan options were their specialty... one of the worst veggies burgers I've ever had in my life. I'm the type who always finishes my food and it's been a while since I've encountered anything so terrible I could barely finish it: 1. First, it's SO overpriced. $10+ for just the burger and extra for sides. 2. The whole wheat bun is SO coarse and dry, tasted like it came straight out of the bagged buns you'd get at food town. They didn't even bother to heat it up in any way, just straight out of the bag. 3. The cheese didn't even melt onto the patty, maybe because it was vegan, but it straight up just sat cold on the patty like a sandwich. 4. The veggie patty was just mushy and flavorless. 5. Overall just bland and not even copious amounts of ketchup and mustard could save the dry texture and lack of flavor. Ugh still bitter that I paid over $18 for such lackluster meal. Went here on a Sunday afternoon, my first time at a Bareburger. Was a little confused by all the options on the menu, but we ended up with two different Impossible burgers, the reason we came here. Both tasted really awesome, no complaints about the food. I found out I'm not a big fan of vegan cheese, but that's not the restaurant's fault. We also ordered a vegan mint oreo milk shake which was absolutely delicious (more oreo than mint flavor). Service was great, friendly and fast. Having now spent two and a half years based over in Dallas, it's easy for me to get pigeon holed into what is a truly fantastic Texas burger scene. Well shame on me, because New York continues to bring the quality when it comes to essentially all cuisines, and Bareburger embodies what is an excellent and high quality NYC burger scene. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? It's difficult not to notice upon walking into Bareburger that they clearly engage in a healthy carry out business, and it seems as though the kitchen is a flurry of activity even if the restaurant isn't overly crowded. I opted instead to have a seat, and was pleased by the comfortable yet lively wood-set atmosphere. Service was fast, friendly and modern, and I dug the hybrid communal seating arrangements that can essentially host any party. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I've said it before and I'll say it again: $15 is my hard cutoff for a fast casual burger irrespective of what city I'm in, and Bareburger met that criteria by dishing up a fresh decent sized custom burger for $12.70. Sure, that's a decent chunk of change considering that didn't include fries or a drink, but at the end of my meal I was content without being miserable, and I'm willing to fork over double digits if that's the case and quality is involved. The interior of Bareburger is very cozy and inviting with a mixture of wooden panels and exposed brick walls. Although it appears small, the restaurant has a few private booths, some raised benches that allow for larger parties, a few tables for smaller parties and individual seating. Their menu is awesome, everything here is organic and natural with a ton of gluten free options (with everything clearly marked). Don't let the name fool you their menu consists of much more than burgers they also have a variety of sides, salads sandwiches. Clearly though - their burgers win! They have a laundry list of pre-made burgers with all the fixings, if you go with this option you can customize your protein and your bun (gluten free, brioche, a wrap, on a salad - you choose). They have recommendations for the best protein pairings but don't let that stop you from exploring the menu! The usual beef and turkey patties are available but for the adventurous they have exotic meats such as elk, bison, goat and even wild boar! There is also the option of building your own burger where you can basically build your burger from scratch with cool gourmet items like duck bacon and cauliflower humus! Unfortunately the burgers don't come with french fries but they do have the option of regular and sweet. I unfortunately am not adventurous and went with the original burger with a wild boar patty with a brioche bun. The patty was juicy and flavorful, not gamey like I had imagined. It had the usual cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and special sauce - absolutely delicious. For you gluten free peeps, everything on the menu that is gluten free is clearly marked. All of their meats are gluten free and the seasoned/flavored proteins are marked if they are gluten free. There's definitely something differentiating about Bareburger, from their proteins/meats to how their restaurant is run. Here's a brief breakdown. The name already spells it out, but they have pretty interesting protein selections and a variety of fresh meats to pick from. From the burgers I tried (the SoCal one) the patties were different from the typical burger you can get...you can tell from the texture and purely the taste that these patties are of a different breed. Specifically for the SoCal burger, I loved the bean sprouts and the avocado combination; it was light but hearty, and I didn't feel terrible after eating it. Just to follow a pattern, I also ordered the Cal-styled salad, which was pretty good as well, but if I could do it again, I think I would stick to burgers since the salad wasn't that memorable. You can tell Bareburger executives are really into their use of tech and trendy business operations tactics to run their restaurants. All the waiters use tablets to take orders and process payments, and their tabling system seemed pretty interesting too (I couldn't really tell from afar, but it seemed like the computer software generated optimal splitting of waiters to tables. The interior decorating and seating is tasteful and fit their theme. The wait for food took a while (strange considering I went in early afternoon when there were only 7-8 parties there), but other than that the service was good. It was fun! The first burger that caught my eye was the Jalapeno Express. As someone who loves anything spicy, I knew I had to go with that. I had it made with an organic turkey burger. I almost went with the veggie burger but decided to treat myself and since I don't like beef burgers, I got myself turkey. The horseradish and jalapeno relish were perfect. They blended well together and were super-tasty, as well as spicy. On the side, I had a house salad. I was leaning towards fried pickles but that's something I tend to eat only when I've had a few drinks since I typically hate fried food. Prices are a little steep. $10.25 for the jalapeno burger. Not terrible but not something I could do all the time. Also, the burger was pretty messy but that was probably due to the sauces on it. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday afternooon. I walked by this place a bunch of times, but I never checked it out until last week. The menu sounds interesting since they offer various types of burger vehicles such as: beef, turkey, portabella mushroom, panko chicken, grilled chicken, cajun chicken, lamb, boar, elk, bison, and ostrich. The original came with colby jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, raw red onion, and special sauce. THe burger was cooked to perfection...perhaps a medium rare even which is fine with me because i loved the juiciness of the burger. The meat was a perfect hue of ruby red/pink. You can tell that they use high quality beef. We also shared an order of onion rings and fries. The onion rings were okay but they were overly breaded. If they provided minimal breading, then i think it would have been a winner winner. The fries were good, and they offered various sauces with the fries. It came with spicy chipotle mayo, curry ketchup, special sauce, and peppercorn steak sauce. They also serve Maine Root sodas here which are very tasty (i always try it at Luke's lobster since their lobster roll combos are the bomb). Food was phenomenal. The menu was a bit overwhelming; there are a lot of fantastic options so it was kinda hard to pick. I ended up getting the Elk Southern burger, medium-rare, and it was DELICIOUS. The burger was smaller than expected, but the fries (additional charge) were huge. The server was attentive and sweet, the atmosphere comfortable and relaxed, and the music was good too. All the food is organic/Earth-friendly, and the booths are even reclaimed wood and sustainable. You can tell the company and its employees really care about the Earth and their customers. This place is located in my neighborhood, nestled between a Duane Reade and wine/liquor shop. Been meaning to visit the location as it is so close and I love burgers. After a meeting last week, decided it was time to check it out. I went with my friend H as she is a fellow burger aficionado. I also knew I wanted to go with Bacon and Blue Cheese. H went with a classic Bison burger. We ordered the Bare burger Fries and Onion Rings as a starter and I went with a Ginger Brew as my drink of choice. The Fries and Onion rings were nicely seasoned and went very well with the various dipping sauces. We were munching and talking when our burgers came. Burger was stacked and chock full of flavor. I could really taste the blue cheese and jalapenos (I asked for them). Elk itself was cooked well and this being my introduction to Elk meat it was tasty with a slight difference in taste to that of bison or beef burgers. I powered through the burger and sides. It was more than a mouthful/handful. With the appetizers and main burger I had no room for dessert. Overall a good time. The girl at the front was very nice and helpful. The place itself was clean and spacious. It will definitely become a hot spot for bites to eat before, during and after drinks and other events. Not gonna say that I dislike Bareburger because I don't...it was just...different. A mostly organic and "health conscious" burger spot. So looking at the menu and not really seeing anything up to my standard of liking, I decided to do something different and ordered a Mediterranean wrap. Also ordered some organic beer that I don't even remember the name of right now. Both were good...the wrap could of used some gyro sauce or whatever sauce that Bareburger may specialize in. I ended up dipping the wrap in mustard. I probably would come here again off the cuff just to see what else may be good here but nothing I would rush back for...for me Bareburger was just good for trial and error. read more

This place is awesome. I've been here a few times. It's not a great place for large groups although they try to accommodate. I've tried a few burgers here ave they're all delicious. The one that stands out for me is their duck burger which as the server recorded tastes like juicy turkey. I loved it. Most of the other meats taste similar to me, but they're all great. What I'm obsessed with is the price of their beers. Even when it's not happy hour you can get a $5 beer. The deal gets better as the size goes up so you know what to do. It's weird because I've never been a fan of Bareburger until I started eating at this particular location. I've gone to both the East Village and Greenwich Village restaurants, but the food was just okay. This one might be smaller in size in comparison to the others, but the burgers and fries I've gotten here are way better for whatever reason. I would recommend a salad if you're not too hungry (I like the guapo chop) and a milkshake (I'm not a huge chocolate person, but their chocolate shake is fantastic - it has dark chocolate chunks if you're into that) for an extra treat. The only bad experience I've had was coming here around noon on a Sunday. It seemed like everything I ordered wasn't cooked up to standards (my burger was cooked more on the rare side rather than medium and the fries tasted blander than usual) - not sure if it was because the kitchen staff wasn't fully prepared to make the food yet or because there weren't many people dining yet. I'm really hoping it was more of a one-off situation than anything else. I haven't been back since, but am optimistic it won't be a frequent occurrence. read more
