Terrible experience. Sat down. No one came. Flagged someone down, who took our order, and then a few minutes later, a different person showed up alongside our original waiter and took our literal entire order again? He was interestingly hanging out in the back of the (nearly empty) place not doing much of anything. Key context -- we had a kid with us, and we asked for that food to come out when it was ready. It did not. In fact, no food came out (note: one of the reasons we picked a diner like this is that we expected the orders to come out pretty quickly). I flagged someone down after a 15 or so minute wait to ask about the status and got a nonsense "it's on the way" response. At this point, our toddler is near meltdown, so we ask for it to go to avoid any further issues. I take the kiddo back to the hotel and my wife waits seemingly more time for them to pack up the order. One item is incorrect and another item (a fruit plate we ordered) is missing entirely. They fix the incorrect item, pack everything up, and when we go to eat it, I see a small handful of blueberries and 2 cut up strawberries as our $13 "fruit plate." Also, the food wasn't good, but to be expected after the comedy of errors it was in even getting our (correct) order. Just a pathetic and disgusting experience all around. We felt like two kids in Wonka's chocolate factory. While the food wasn't gourmet or groundbreaking, it was definitely a fun time dining here. The footlong mac n cheese dog, the cheesy and greasy bacon jalapeno mozzarella squares were baffling-- truly felt like a stereotypical American experience. My favorite part was the monster Oreo shake we got. We were grinning ear to ear the entire time. We couldn't finish the food, and we were so stuffed that it was hard to breathe lol. This diner has lots of potential. I visited after a long evening in the city. Upon arrival, there was a few people dining but I was seated immediately. The menu has it all, like your typical diner salads, appetizers main courses and their fun shakes. They also offer a lunch special daily from 11am to 4pm. The space isn't the biggest, but big enough to accommodate their crowd. My spouse and I ordered a few things, chicken quesadilla, wings, salad, burger, an alcohol beverage and pasta. All foods were pretty decent, with good portion sizes. Now why the 2 stars.....The customer service needs help. My waitress was busy having personal conversations with the door hostess. I'm not paying so much for my meals to hear inappropriate conversations by staff (it's unprofessional). I also didn't appreciate when asked questions about the menu her response was always with an attitude, she wasn't welcoming at all. Big plus: Very accommodating service. The interior was unlike a lot of nyc diners, with a more nostalgic feel. Reminded me a lot of the Mel's Diner and Bob's Big boy of my youth. The smash cheeseburger was delicious and the fries had just the right amount of salt, and a big portion. Of course I had to get a vanilla milkshake to go with it. After hearing that Diner 24 serves a foot long hot dog and a massive milkshake, I knew I had to check it out. I came with my boyfriend and we ordered the food long hot dog with Mac and cheese on the top. We also ordered spicy chicken waffle, and red velvet milkshake. The food came out quickly and everything tasted good. When the milk shake arrived, I was honestly amazed by how huge it was. Even with the two of us trying, we couldn't finish it. Server said they definitely do. I ordered one but out came platter with fries. Hmm so much food I didn't need at that time of the morning. Black coffee and platter - $37. Umm so a tuna melt is more than one of your listed steak specials , ah I see. Felt swindled. I had been here once before and ordered a BLT and it was ok. So... I'll start with the good. Food was basic and good. Very much what you would expect from a diner. It had a nice Christmas decor and everyone was pretty friendly. The milkshakes look crazy! I'd consider returning for one on a warmer day but.... The bad...the so so bad. 4 tables had spills including ours. Now it was 11 am on a Friday morning. Everyone was awake and at it. But these tables are so cluttered with sh*t and wobbly that the minute you set something down it shakes. The staff seem unbothered and almost like it's normal to have water dripping at 3 of the nearby tables. It's 20° outside, you're moments away from an ice skating rink floor. We ordered coffee first and then our food. Every table around us was served coffee...and even refilled. I stopped three different server/waiters/busboys and thought we would eventually get the coffee...our food came out. We ate. I finished my eggs and bacon...still no coffee. Now when we ordered coffee i asked if the had iced coffee because my crazy a$$ still likes a cold beverage in these temps. She said sure...I followed up with is it coffee or cold brew? She said cold brew. Not a fan, so I asked if I could have coffee and a cup of ice. After we were practically done eating two orders of a watered down coffee and a hot coffee make it to our table. I asked again is this coffee or cold brew the bus boy said coffee. It tasted fine...like coffee poured over ice... The busboy set the cream on the edge of the table...guess what happened moments after he walked away. The table shook when my partner picked his coffee up, the cream teetered falling off the edge of the table but I caught it as I had witnessed so many other cups tumbling, as I caught it though it exploded all over my hands, and the girl sitting so close next to me too. Her blue pants looked like she had a long night out. Again staff was nowhere or couldn't be bothered to help clean any of that up. It was a lot. We quickly finished wanting to get out of there before the next tumble...now why when I go to check out. We aren't presented a bill just offered the price and an iPhone style check out...$46.27...seemed a bit steep in hopes they would take off the two coffees they forgot. I tapped/paid plus 20% for tip. I asked for a copy of the receipt... Drip coffee $3.50 Cold brew $6.00 I asked our waitress about not receiving the coffee until we were finished eating and why I'm getting charged almost double for the same coffee...and ice?! She said I'm sorry it's the same price for iced coffee as cold brew. I again asked that the same $3.50 coffee poured over ice is almost double and she said yes sorry. ?!?!!?!!?!! What?! And I was again charged for something I didn't order. I will say our server did seem nice and gracious listening to my concerns but I still have zero understanding how this makes any sense. Had a business lunch here and we got seated immediately in a corner booth which was exactly what we hoped for. All was good until the service. Occasionally got weird looks and comments about our age (a range of younger and older professionals) and it was uncomfortable for us. The food was good between the smashburgers, gyro sandwich and baklava shake. However, I'm hoping if there is a next time, we won't be critiqued about the difference in the patron's ages and why we're all dining together. We left the restaurant and originally wanted the remaining shake to go but was so full we left it on the table. One staff member ran after us to give it to us, which was sincerely appreciated, but when we said we were too full and had to leave it on the table, he threw the entire thing in the garbage can on the street. I work down the block so I was so surprised this place was open 24 hrs! Walked in on a somewhat busy night and managed to be seated quickly and receive service quick! The waiter seemed to be very thorough and efficient with us although i couldn't manage to figure out what I wanted to get lol! Food came out relatively quick i guess I feel like it took much longer than expected IMO but everything was hot and delicious!!! Nothing beats a good diner meal when you're in the mood. I stopped by with a friend, with the perfect timing to grab the last open booth. We chose to share an order of the chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes (omg soooo rich but so good), turkey sausage (neither of us really liked the flavor or consistency) and both got scrambled eggs as well. Free refills on cold brew, so you bet I was caffeined by the end of the meal! One thing to note, the bathroom door wouldn't lock/close properly (and the other restroom was out of order). Pretty typical for a diner so it adds to the character, but I do hope it gets fixed soon! They're known for mozz sticks, giant hot dogs so... I'll be back to try more of the menu. read more

I came here yesterday for my son's birthday for him to have some good food and great milkshakes but that didn't happen at all. When we walked in it was super packed but that was ok. It was very greasy and looked like cottage cheese instead and most of all it was cold in the middle. I had to ask the waitress to take it back and she did that for me she was so kind. But after it came out I didn't want it anymore because that took my experience away. When you're cooking you have to make sure the food is done. The soda was hot and barely no ice. My son loves burgers and he didn't even touch it at all he said it was bland and no flavor at all. We took it home because we paid for it. My daughter got the steak with fries. She said it was ok. I tried a piece of it. It was ok but no flavor at all and for 50 dollars they didn't even have any steak sauce at all. That is a must to have if you have steak in your establishment. My husband had a grilled chicken and some fries his food was good. I tried to get my son a milkshake he didn't even want one cause he wasn't happy about his food. I was not happy with my food at all. I got the Parmesan chicken with fettuccine it was by far the blandest I've ever tasted in my life. First off the noddles had no flavor just bland. When I went to cut a piece of the chicken omg I just was mad to be honest. It fell apart and looked so nasty. They covered it with a lot of cheese but once you got to the chicken it was disappointing. It just looked like they didn't season it at all and just put the breadcrumbs on top and called it a day. I didn't eat my food at all. I told the waitress about the food. Maybe because it was so much stuff going on inside and so packed the cook was very busy. I don't know one waiter was walking by to give someone a happy birthday milkshake and dropped the whole cake on the floor. It's not enough space inside. I was hungry so I went next door and got Chinese food. I will never come back here at all. I loved the waitress she made the night but not the food to be honest. We went this afternoon for an early dinner late lunch. The place looks nice and retro and we were greeted and seated in a both in the back. They have a cute kids menu with breakfast and dinner options for $12 which is a great deal. my kids ordered the Mac and cheese. It was pretty good and wasn't from a box. My kids are every bite. We ordered an extra plate of chicken fingers which is actually chicken cutlet and fries. I ordered a single smash burger and fries which was pretty good. This also comes with a side of pickles and purple coleslaw. I loved the presentation of everything and the prices are actually decent. My kids had room for one of the epic shakes but if it's busy order with your meal. We waited 15 minutes after our meal was over to get our shake. The wait was worth it but I know next time to order it and have it come mid meal. The owner was there and he basically was making sure everything was going well. Ps. Loved this place! I saw it being built and am so happy to see it so successful. Three of us got seated within 20 minutes on a Sunday, which worked for me. Super cute decor and vibes inside, and also appreciated the owner and host chatting with other and walking around the place. I went to Diner 24 over the weekend with my husband and his aunt. It was old school diner vibe with inoperable (for show) juke boxes on each table. We were greeted by a sweet hostess and that is where the praise ends. Once we sit we look over the menu and decide on our order. Server #1 comes over and takes our drink order. Moments later we are approached by server#2. We tell him we already put in our drinks with #1. He says that's ok and takes our dinner order. A third person brings over our drinks and the milkshakes are so massive you need to eat through a giant scoop of ice cream that sits atop before it melts in order to get to the shake. May I mention no one gave us a spoon to do the job. Finally the food comes. It was plentiful but terrible. I had open faced turkey which was about a pound of turkey atop stale white bread. It tasted oddly of garlic (lots of it). I just figured it was the greasy broccoli doused in oil and garlic. I asked for more gravy. This was very garlicky as well. I ended up taking some of the dry turkey and mashed potatoes home as to not waste everything. My husband's order was incomplete and he said it was not good either. Server#3 asked if we didn't like the food and said I guess you're not coming back?! Odd exchange. Walking my aunt back to her apartment, my husband wondered if we were charged for his missing side order so he went back. Waiter #1 showed him the bill and gave him the cold shoulder. People hate on diner pastas but their spicy homemade cavatelli was SO GOOD. Huge bowl too so it looked like I barely made a dent in it. It isn't overly spicy but has a lil kick to it. The "2 Waffles Stacked" is for y'all strawberry lovers. Definitely a good dessert to share (I don't imagine that having something this heavy in the morning will bode well). Also very Instagram-worthy. We're always catching late night movies, so I love having Diner 24 as an option rather than fast food (typically the only places that are still open at that time). My friend and I went for dinner Saturday after seeing a show at Baruch. It was a very festive crowd at Diner24 with multiple birthday and enormous ice cream desserts. The staff were friendly and seemed jazzed to do all the birthday pomp. We liked the variety of options, as a diner should have. We had one of the mozzarella appetizers, which had some spiciness. Pretty good and definitely better than out of a box in the freezer like lots of places do. We also shared a side of Brussel Sprouts. I liked them more than my friend: they were a little undercooked and had too much sauce. She got a turkey burger and she was impressed by how juicy it was. I had the lamb burger, which turned out to be on a flat, fluffy pita with lots of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. It was an unexpected presentation but I really liked it that way.
