Let first start w the positives the location is very clean location. Plenty of parking. The bar is very nice looking bar with enough seating. The hostess was very friendly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to our needs. I didn't have to ask for a refill. The reason I didn't give a 5 is solely food quality. We got the stuffed mushrooms which was the worst app I've ever seen! The mushrooms just had cheese very little meat at all. They was served in bowl of hot butter it looked more like a soup. Soup spoon did come with it. I tried one and it was nasty. I said let me give one more try. It was completely gross w the butter lack of stuffing. Server was nice when I told her about it. I thought they made a mistake w the soup of butter but she said that's how they serve them. Wow! I said you should have your manager try it. Entree came I got a burger which tasted like a meatloaf sandwich. Didn't taste fresh. Management did take care of the app on the bill which is good. Service was outstanding. It's a shame the food wasn't up to par. If a manager is reading this please eat the stuff mushrooms in bowl of butter and you see if it edible? Rethink the way you serve it. The chicken salad on a pretzel bread is delightful and highlighted with a side of fresh made Saratoga chips. Our waitress and the bartender were both very nice. Our drinks were cheap. And they have really good queso dip, the rest of the food was nothing special. My family loves coming here when we all go out with grandparents and extended family. I've tried multiple things from the menu throughout these visits. Nothing has tasted like it should, and I've actually not ordered the last couple of times we've gone. It's honestly just gross food. If you like fried and bar food go there. I ordered fish grilled with steamed veggies- the veggies were swimming in water and the fish was swimming in oil. I confess I would not be caught dead eating such bad food but my niece was visiting and she loves this crap (she's only 21 though). Let me start off by saying this was my first, and consequently last, trip to a Barleycorns. The service is lackluster at best. The wait staff hands you food and drinks over a frigging banister rather than walking to the table. The menu is pretty thin, we tried to substitute salad for baked potatoes- nope, just add on and up charge. We asked to remove onions from entree, but they came with it anyway. Ordered steamed vegetables, they came to the table nearly raw. The only way to steam them LESS would be to just run them under hot tap water. All around poor dining experience. read more

I've been here twice and the food is pretty good. Although the last time I went, I order boneless Parmesan garlic wings & they weren't quite what I was expecting. They came in a basket, but looked like fried chicken bites with sprinkle Parmesan cheese on it & a side of garlic dipping sauce. I was in the mood for a good salad and their menu sounded like they had a few good ones. We hadn't been here in years and I couldn't remember how it was last time. I ordered the berry and chicken salad. It was iceberg lettuce, craisins, cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette. It had a few other things like standard salads - tomato, onion, etc. but my disappointment came with the craisins and a salad dressing made it a "berry" salad. It sounded like it was going to be a great salad - but iceberg lettuce and craisins weren't up to par. This was all on top of the fact that my grilled chicken was completely dried out. I used extra dressing to make it tolerable. Letting them know my salad wasn't good and sending it back wasn't an option, I waited 40 minutes for that salad to arrive. I didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for something else. My husband also agreed his grilled chicken sandwich and fries were very underwhelming. To really top off our night we had rough service. He went without a refill for over 10 mins, and we had to go ask the hostess for our bill and even went back and had her cash us out. They had three hostesses just standing at the front doing nothing but talking, they really could have helped out by offering refills or doing something other then socializing. I don't know if that's a company policy that they just stand there and do nothing but greet someone every 10 mins, or if they just decided to blow off responsibilities and talk. When our food was brought out, she couldn't take herself away long enough to take our food back when it wasn't cooked correctly. We went there last Wednesday planning on having a relaxing dinner outside. We were surprised it was very crowded. The waitress outside don't even acknowledge us, we have to go in and asked for a sitting. We got a table inside, I was so pleased to find out that Wednesday is 5.99 burger deal. I am not against smoking in a business establishment, but when I have no choice but to inhale someone's contaminated smoke is a turn off for me. If you like traditional vegetable soup, do not order the veggie soup at Barleycorn's. The beef vegetable soup on special when I dined there with my husband last night, and being a veggie soup lover, I decided to order a bowl and make a meal out of it. When the soup came out, there were hardly any veggies OR beef in it! It was more like broth really with very few vegetables. It had been years and I could not wait to return. I left with very mixed feelings and it had nothing to do with nostalgia, the old it is never as good as it used to be theme, I assure you. In short, the iced tea was strange tasting because it was short on tea bags, but no big deal. I can live with pale tea, The burger was as fantastic as I remembered. So, the tie-breaker. When they brought out my fries with the burger my first thought was "can they spare it?" It was a small silver serving cup to start and I had to look down in to find a few fries. I did not recall asking for a child's portion or half-portion of fries. I would have been embarrassed as a bistro to serve that puny pile of FF. Well it saddens me to say that the Florence location has allowed their managers to ruin it for me. The food is good, the bartenders friendly BUT if you go on A Friday afternoon and sitting outside listening to music drinking beers watching a game watch out. The wall next to the kitchen. Service was good - but the stinky choke followed us. On July 10, 2014 my wife and I visited Barleycorn's in Florence. We were promptly greeted at the front door and seated quickly. Our server was very friendly and our food came out promptly. My meal was the Grouper from the garden, fries and steamed vegetables and my wife had a couple of appetizers.. My meal was FANTASTIC to say the least. The grouper was fresh, hot and the salsa on the top was amazing. I absolutely loved it. The steamed veggies seemed to be sauteed in olive oil and they were great. I could have absolutely eaten another serving. Mine and my wife's dining experience was quite worthwhile and I will definitely be dining there again. I have been to this location twice, the wait staff is kind and it's a fun atmosphere but the way management treat the staff is horrible and they are rude. Treating most of the women there like they are stupid and having almost impossible standards set for them. I was shocked at how the employees were treated. I guess that is why they are always hiring. I won't eat at places where employees are treated so poorly. None of them deserved it new or old. Terrified of losing their jobs if one small thing goes wrong etc. If you really like the food go to another location. read more

Myself and some coworkers stopped here after work for lunch and a couple beers last Saturday. The people were relatively friendly, but it probably helped that one of my coworkers used to work at this location and knew most of them. We sat on the patio and ordered a few beers. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich for lunch, which the menu said came in mild, medium, and hot. When it came out I was less than impressed. It looked like they cooked a piece of chicken breast and lightly spread a little bit of hot sauce on it. It was not the least bit spicy nor did it taste like buffalo chicken anything would. Little did I pay attention the buffalo chicken sandwich came with no cheese, and they piled a quarter of your plate with shredded lettuce and pickles. They even seemed cheap with the fries, which I had gotten instead of the Saratoga chips I ordered.The only saving grace is that my boss picked up the tab. I doubt I will ever go back and spend my own money there though. read more

We really enjoy the food and service here but tonight was not a good night. I ordered the Red Stuffed Peppers, a special menu item which was excellent. Very tasty and flavorable. My husband ordered the Super Nachos which is no longer on the menu but available. In the past, these were the greatest!! But after tonight, we decided ordering a previous item that is no longer on the menu is not a good idea. They came out piled high which was impressive BUT thats were it all ended!! Nacho chips tasted stale and the meal was so bland my husband could not even eat them! I tried them and they were terrible with a capitol T!! Guess they just threw whatever they had together and never thought about seasoning the meat. We had a few bites and took them home to doctor them up! $11.99 for a pile of nothing!! Looks were deceiving because that first bite was tasteless!! Never again will we order them!! read more

If you are a smoker, this is the place to come. If you are not, my advice is to stay away. The restaurant is one large room and the smoking section is planted right in the center. The food here is just ok anyway, portions are a bit on the small side... but even if the food was fantastic, I can't see myself ever going back into that ashtray. read more

I visited the Dixie Highway location. The hostess was nice and prompt. My server was good. However the food was terrible. The soda I ordered was just carbonated water and when I asked for something different I got the same crappy soda. I asked to speak to a manager and was told "he is busy" So obviously there is where the problem lies... the managers and owners. So obviously if they don't want to do their job then the place will always suck. Will never return. Ever. read more
