FI & I go to this restaurant pretty frequently for lunch. Their lunches specials are for a good price & it's good too! I forgot my jacket the time before I went & they returned it to me the next time we came. I thought that was really sweet of the staff to do that. Our favorite is Pad Kee Mow (Pan-fried big noodles with ground beef, basil, tomatoes, chili). It's a simple dish, but it makes me happy every time we have it. read more

This little hole In the wall was a great neighborhood find. Drive by this plaza almost every day. Did a phone order because wifey wanted som Thai and didn't feel like going out. Ordered the following: Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai (shrimp), Pad See Iew (w/beef), and roti with condensed milk. Pad Thai was awesome. Probably some of the best Pad Thai I've had. Not overdone w spices, and not dry. This is a definite order (then again, what's Thai food without Pad Thai?) the Pad See Iew was ok. Wasn't great, but not sure if I'd order again. The Tom yum was good. They use regular mushrooms instead of button mushrooms. Dessert- you can't screw up roti with condensed milk! Only drawback was its never enough. Service Is good- food was ready in 15 mins. Staff is courteous and polite. Will definitely be coming back here. read more

Went with two coworkers on an early Wednesday for lunch. The food was good, but the service was really lousy. The staff greeting and seating said two words - "how many". End of conversation. The wait staff were clearly understaffed this day, even though the restaurant was less than half full. Not friendly, but at least we got what we ordered. I usually go next door to Pizza Depot for the lunch buffet but this time, I'm feeling a little chubby. When that happens, I reduce my carb intake by ordering Thai Beef Salad. It's just fricken' FANTASTIC! Nicely laid out and hella tasty. The amount of tri tip used is very generous. It's spicy as hell too. Good for me, but I can imagine not good for the spice challenged. The staff there seem sincerely welcoming, smiley, and bubbly. Makes me wanna work there. It does get busy around lunch and it's almost a guarantee there's a wait. Other than that, all good. Eh, I feel it's kinda unfair to give 5 stars for a one time visit. If I later have a negative experience or taste anything nasty, I'll update. read more

The best Thai food in the area, owner are Thai, and they import some of the ingredients from Thailand. Very crowded during weekday lunch time, nice and quiet at dinner time. They offer authentic Thai food, and some of the special items you will not find in other Thai restaurant. When you come here, try JPP, it's like Pad Thai but with crab meat. And they have traditional Thai appetizer call one bite, it's assorted items you warp with lettuces or spinach, with house sauce. read more

I love this place. Have been coming here for the last 12 years, and the food is consistently good. We get takeout once every 2 weeks or so. Their Jun Pad Poo (spicy crab noodles with garlic and chile) is to die for, and their curries are excellent. Other favorites are the Spicy Eggplant, and Pad See-iew (wide rice noodles with broccoli and egg). You can add your choice of protein - chicken, beef, pork, veggies, tofu, prawns, or fish. Lunch special comes with a bowl of delicious soup, and a small egg roll. They are crazy busy during the lunch hour on weekdays, but dead quiet on weeknights, and closed on Sat/Sun. The owner, Sandy, is friendly and provides great service. Highly recommended! read more

Came here to check out some of the local restaurants during a business trip. I'm definitely a fan. It was late so it wasn't that busy and I had the chicken pad Thai noodles. Waitress was nice, attentive. I do wish they offered fountain drinks instead of canned soda. read more

I really love the Tom Yum Fried Rice they have here, so I've been back several times. I order it with chicken and it's been excellent every time. I've never seen that dish at another Thai restaurant. I always order to go so I can't comment on the table service, but they're always really friendly. My only complaint is that they're closed on weekends. read more

Come here often bc it's close to work. Their tum yum fried rice is my favorite thai rice dish in the south bay! Tried some other dishes like jpp crab stir fried noodle and chicken wings which were also tasty. But I always stick to the fried rice. read more

I read through the reviews and think the bad ones are based on people who haven't had the real thing. I lived 6 months in Thailand, eating curries every day. This place is the most authentic I've tasted. The great thing too is you can get by for a reasonable price. I ate at this Thai place a lot since I worked in SCLA 7yrs ago. It is a good place for cheap and good Thai lunch if you can be there at noon sharp. Sometiems they are very busy. Highly recommend their JPP (Crab meat fried noodle) and make sure you ask for the chilli sauce that they have. They usually move them between tables. Very different than the Chinese chilli sauce. We also start to go there for dinner. Much quieter and have more fish dishes for dinner. However, I still order JPP........ just too hard to skip this dish when I go to Barn Thai! I should of give them 5 stars but one time they have catering service on a Friday lunch time. We waited by the table for 1hr with no food also other tables. When the sweaty owner came back, we asked her what was wrong. She said one chef and her were out for catering service..... They could of plan better, specially for the busy Friday lunch time....... Other than that incident amoung my 30 visits. They are alwayas fast and good. read more

The people are sooo friendly and kind and the service is fantastic! Best of all the prices are totally affordable. First time in at Barn Thai and I was impressed. This was an evening visit, and for once (normally a meat type) I ordered the Crispy Catfish Red Curry style. I ordered spice level 4 out of 5 and they had it perfect when it arrived. Need I say tears of joy? That main dish was preceded by a well executed Tom Ka Kai soup, chock full of mushrooms, and chicken. The cilantro, Galangal and lemon grass were bursts of flavor in this dish, great job. A Singha to wash it down and a homemade coconut Ice cream to finish and I made my escape well under $25. Great food, a happy friendly server, and who cares about the decor when that happens, its all about the food. read more

Awful. The soup that came with lunch was four pieces of overcooked cabbage in broth made of water and sweet and sour sauce. My main course was a stir fried chicken dish that looked like it had been sitting in the alley and gone gray with soot or mold in places. Flavorless. I could hardly eat it, let alone look at it. "Barn Thai" in Thai means "House of Thai", hope that clears up the confusion. The restaurant is packed during lunch but the real good food, in my opinion, is served during dinner. The Thai owners prepare everything themselves with all the desired results. I noticed Barn Thai now also serves weekly dinner specials (posted weekly on their website), Thai food I have not seen at most other Thai restaurants. This week for example "Chu Chee" Dry Red Curry of Rainbow Trout and smoky eggplant salad with shrimp. The black sticky rice with Mango is excellent. My personal favorite dishes from the dinner menu are Crab Stir-fried Noodle, Nam Sod Korat salad, Ginger Basa Filet, Tom Yum fried rice and the drunken noodles. From the curries I prefer the red and green. I tried most Thai restaurants in the wide vicinity and taking into account that the venue might be improved, the fact is that I just care for the authentic, excellent food and that is what Barn Thai delivers (for prices below average I might add). read more
