The pizza is good but they overcharge drastically for what you get. There is no consistent pricing through their website and according to them the menu I have is outdated. My husband orders from them frequently, and they have yet to send an updated menu. They charge how the wind blows that day. I ordered a personnel pie (6 inch diameter) with three toppings and was charged $3 a topping, which they sparingly place. Unfortunately, I cannot justify paying $$$$$ for pizza delivery. Came here for my friend's 30th Birthday. We had made reservations but were still seated 30 mins later. We were already starving by the time we got seated . When looking on the menu , nothing was priced so I had to ask prices for everything I was about to order . I almost felt uncomfortable asking and almost refrained from ordering my drink and dessert because of that .The drinks ( margaritas ) And appetizers ( fried calamari and tomato and mozzarella) came at a timely manner; which was good. But, we ordered some penne pasta with our entrees (chicken francese and chicken Marsala )and the both of us agreed that the penne was a bit undercooked, which is weird for an Italian restaurant. The chicken was great though . We ordered dessert , cheese cake and that had to be the best thing we ordered this visit .I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone ; I will commend the Hostess, Waiter and Server on how nice they were and attentive to what we needed. Standard Italian fare! I had the whole wheat penne a la vodka. The sauce was a little on the watery side, but it was decent, and I had enough to enjoy some the next day. The basket of garlic knots that you get pre-dinner is great. So yummy (yet so bad for you) but hey, you only live once. Yes ! We go there for few years now. Never disappointed. Barosa garlic nuts basted with olive oil calamari in white wine sauce, filet of sole crested with pistachios on a bed if red sauce linguini and veal picante with roasted fingerlings potatoes and just right broccoli with fresh pepper and parmigiana french fries and smooth spinach with oven roasted garlic spumoni and lava cake... I THINK YOU GOT THE PICTURE. AND LIVE MUSIC by Jim Altamore- I thought is a Sinatra recording until I saw him sing. Wow! Kevin the waiter efficient not hovering and the helping assistant always paying attention to the table to gave what we need. This was one of best experiences. Three people $125 + tip. This will be the last time I go as this experience really cements my previous view that something is quite wrong at Barosa's. They used to be very good, and now something is different. First for the prices you'd expect a slightly higher level of service than what you get. I didn't feel like I was getting the overall food and experience on par with the price paid. I felt like I was in the neighborhood corner pizza shop, dressed up with fancy decor, nice menus and a bar. Still something is missing between the production of the kitchen and the level of service that you get. Service I can see that the wait staff and bus staff really are hauling, non stop I see the plates moving in and out it must be take a great deal of coordination to get all to work, still I would say that there is a margin for improvement in the human aspect of the service they perform, so I don't know if it's because everyone is used to it or that the regular patrons don't know any better, but there is a too mechanical side to the service - it's supposed to be the delight to serve not just take your order, bring your food, clear the table, bring your bill, process your payment. So if service is just the physical part of conveyance of objects then they are spot on however Barosa purports itself to be an upscale classic Italian experience and it is far from hitting the mark. Food $18 Pasta carbonara is not supposed to look like a soupy goo,the flavor was OK but texture and visual appearance are off. Please for this price use pancetta it'll be so much nicer. $15 calamari appetizer, taste and texture was very good not chewey, not tough just right. I really think the food is underwhelming and I could probably find the same quality or better at the corner pizzeria, since the service is at the starting point of the minimum, then it seems what you pay is to sit in a very crowded "upscale" dining room with so many servers having to move around in the tight corners. So that could be a short term improvement to Barosa before it nosedives itself - remove a few tables, focus on the food quality and service excellence to be at the level that you pretend to be. Also regular and future patrons have to keep Barosa's honest, don't confuse a good meal served by excellent staff who strive to be at the top of the game with having had a great time because of the friends / family and the alcohol effect. I really count on all of you to keep them honest because I'd like to come back to the upscale experience that I thought I would have without feeling disappointed and fleeced at the end of the night. read more

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten in, in a while. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the food is excellent. We were a group of 7, we were able to make a reservation and bring our own cake (birthday) which they brought out at the ideal time. Everyone enjoyed their food and we requested less salt in a dish which they accommodated. I also noticed that families with young children were seated in a certain section. I'm not sure if they have a designated area for families with small children and an adult only section. I would definitely dine here again and recommend this place for a romantic date or family gathering. read more

Someone recommended this restaurant to me; decided to check it out for my Bday. I made a reservation and it still took about 30 mins for us to be seated. When my food came out, the penne pastathat me and my other 2 friends ordered came put a bit undercooked. The staff was very nice and attentive so I will give them that about their hospitality. But for an italian restaurant, how is it they messed up the Penne Pasta? I love pasta so i wanted mine to be extra soft. I don't think I will be going back there tho for the pasta. read more

I would give this place 5 stars but i feel like 3 things have changed over the past few years: 1. The prices: they routinely have new menus and each time we see one, some of the prices have gone up on most of our favorite dishes 2. Portion sizes: they give way less food on a plate now. Most Italian places you go to you leave feeling so full all you want to do is sleep..not here...not anymore. 3. Food quality: some of the meats I feel are not as top quality as they used to be and some of the side dishes are just sad.. I love the actual place because it is so cozy and intimate. It was my husband's birthday and all the kids and grandkids were coming over to celebrate. I usually cook all their favorite Italian dishes, but this time I decided to order out. I chose Barosa because I have eaten there in the past and enjoyed their food. Everyone chose their own entrees. We ordered 12 dinners, plus a half tray of Caesar Salad. The food arrived exactly on time, hot and delicious (and in sturdy individual containers). No one could believe the size of the portions and were even able to take home leftovers! I was VERY impressed with the quality and quantity of the food ... and I was even more impressed by the price! I was only here twice but they were both fantastic experiences between the décor, the Martin, the Sinatra, the wine, and especially the pasta. I ordered the zuppa de pesce from their pre fixe Valentine's Day menu and it was probably the best meal I've had in my life, not to sound too over-dramatic or anything. The waiters are kind, patient and very helpful as well. This restaurant is perfect for a romantic night out without going too far out of your zone of comfort. My friend held a surprise party here for his girlfriend and Barosa was absolutely perfect. Staff is extremely friendly. There must have been some patrons who are "regulars" at Barosa and the waiters knew who they were, hugged them hello. It was a nice sight to see. They were real accommodating to my friend, taking a reservation, allowing him to tie balloons to the chairs etc. Just real real nice people here and that's a welcome thing anytime. The food was awesome. They give you warm garlic knots along with the bread pre-meal, and for dinner I had the Penne Filetto Pomodoro; it came with Italian tomatoes, onions, and basil and was superb. I've been here twice so far, but did not leave a review the first time. I do recall the experience with great meat dishes and good service. I came here with in a group of 6 friends recently for dinner. There was a large party going on in the main restaurant so we were seated a few doors down at a smaller location. Food: Each of us ordered something different, but we shared a fried calamari arrabiata, which was phenomenal! We ordered: spaghetti, tomato, basil, spaghetti carbonaro, penne portobello (I ordered), and eggplant parmesan. I greatly enjoyed my dish, and my friends, for the most part, were very satisfied with their food too. The carbonaro was a bit too creamy for my friend's liking, though. We also ordered garlic knots, which we attacked right away because we were starving. Cheap drafts and beer, too! Atmosphere/Service: My first time here, when I was seated in the main restaurant, was very fancy and comfortable. The second time was also nice - more casual setting. Service was good, and we received our food quickly. My only complaint was the way the cashier rudely spoke to us when we brought our bill up with 3 credit cards to split the bill. He was very blunt and said that he does not know how to split it 3 ways, he's never encountered that before and it cannot be done at all. It would have been more appropriate to simply state that it is store policy not to split the bill between more than 2 cards, instead of brushing us off that way. Overall: Great food, pretty decent service. I would give this place a 5, but I was extremely taken back by the last encounter, so a 4 for now. I had the opportunity to try out this place thanks to a friend's recommendation (although she practically insisted). Stopped by here on a Sunday evening with said friend and two others. It's a little out of the way, especially for me since I rarely venture out into Queens much (the sole exception being Mets games). The first thing I noticed upon entering this restaurant was that there was a decent amount of patrons of (what I suspected to be) Italian descent. Again, I'm not too familiar with the area, but if Italians are eating inside an Italian restaurant, that's a good sign that the food will be alright at the very least. While not exactly hungry, I was able to eat. Per my friend's recommendation, we shared an appetizer of the Calamari Barosa, and then each ordered our own individual entrees. I went with the daily special, the Lasagna. As we waited for our food to arrive, we were given complimentary garlic knots and bread rolls. Although the garlic knots were a bit hard, this was one of the few places that I have ever dined at that offered free knots, and I found myself scarfing them down easily. If there's one thing you get here, it's definitely one of the seafood barosas. Our Calamari Barosa was exquisite, VERY generously portioned, and cheap when you consider how much food you're receiving. The calamari was just the right texture, and the tomato sauce in combination with the breading was excellent. The only thing that stopped this from being a calamari pizza was the cheese. We took down the barosa pretty quickly because it was just that good. A table over had ordered the Clam Barosa, and that seemed just as tasty. Unfortunately, my entree failed to live up to the high set by the barosa. I've definitely had better lasagna, but I wasn't too hungry by the time it arrived after filling up on the barosa and garlic knots. Somehow, we still found room for dessert. We ended sharing a Lemon Ice and an Amaretto Ice Cream truffle. The Lemon Ice, served inside an actual lemon skin, had just the right combination of sweet and sourness. The Amaretto Ice Cream truffle had an interesting flavor profile and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Minus the entree (of which there are probably better options served here), I really enjoyed the food. If this wasn't so far out of the way for me, I could see myself being a regular here. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in solid Italian food. read more

The waitress made an error on our order/bill, when we pointed it out she very reluctantly acknowledged that she made a mistake and then asked if we wanted her to fix it. Of course I wanted her to fix it, it was her mistake. (At this point she already swiped the credit card.) She took the bill back to "make a change" and came back saying they will process the adjustment on their end with no additional receipt adjustments given to us. The first time I went was with my boyfriend, for our anniversary this past June. I didn't want anything special, just a good dinner, but when he said Italian, I thought, boring. Either way we went, and we were immediately greeted at the door and seated. (We did have a reservation both times we went, I don't know if that's necessary though.) Anyway, I had the best Penne alla Vodka I've ever had in a restaurant. A few weeks later I went again, this time with a bunch of people in my family. Someone said they were hungry so we suggested Barosa. The waiter was very good, he had our drinks filled the whole time, salt pepper and cheese at our table, etc. Service was great, everyone loved the food, and we looked like we knew our restaurants around here. This is review is strictly for delivery. We probably get delivery from Barosa like once a week or at least once every other week. We love love their brick oven margherita pizza. We used to be huge Nicks Pizza fans because they have great brick oven pies as well, but they won't deliver to us so their loss is Barosa's gain and we couldn't be happier. We usually order a rice ball as well and omg this is like a meal in itself, served in a delicious marinara sauce topped with melted mozzarella....my mouth is watering thinking about it. We ordered their penne vodka with chicken once and were unimpressed because the chicken was cooked seperately and sitting on top of the penne and there was a tremendous lack of sauce. My new favorite spot. I've come here twice- two weeks back to back because I was really impressed the first time. They have a lot of gluten free options! What I had... Mozzarella sticks- good cheese to breading ratio Penne ala vodka with grilled chicken- amazing both times. Once with gluten free pasta and the other time with regular pasta. Pomegranate martini- enough alcohol to get a cute buzz Fried calamari (the second time)- a little gummy and soggy but I went during a busy time when I ordered this. (Only reason for the 4 stars) Staff is so professional, sweet, and accommodating to customers. They have valet parking but the area is pretty residential so trying to find parking on your own isn't terrible. The ambiance is super sexy and intimate. Ordinary Italian traditional dishes, nothing adventurous or special. Just your basic Italian restaurant not far from home. The food is average and I never understood the big hype. One and a half hrs later, literally 5 mins before I was about to leave we got seated ( please see first 3 sentences) I could go on and on but all I will say is, everything we ate was delicious. Our service was quick as lightening. We had; Veal dish - I don't eat veal, but my date said it was amazing Chicken parm with vodka sauce- my server literally said "I order the exact same thing".
