My husband and I met another couple here after a college football game. It was a bit chilly outside but we were able to sit outside by the fire pit. It was so nice being to enjoy a nice fireside drink! We really enjoyed our entire experience. Service was great. The manager and waitress were both so kind about letting us sit outside (we were the only ones out there). The waitress gave us all kind of recommendations on drinks and even some suggestions because they were out of a few things. We ordered two specialty Old Fashions and they were delicious! I highly recommend any of their specialty drinks rather than normal ones. I ordered the peach cobbler but was drastically underwhelmed with it. Surprisingly great! The food was really good as was the cocktail. They've changed the menu since we were last here (a couple years ago) and happy with some new choices. It's a good sports set up, wasn't busy for the Rangers game, which was really the only disappointing thing. Will try again for Sunday football and the patio. We had the Queso, could have had more brisket based on the name but still tasted great. The almost Cuban sandwich and the brisket were awesome! Jap sausage had good flavor just a little overdone. I like Barrel and Bones, so it pains me to write a bad review of them, but this should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone wishing to go to the restaurant. I would highly recomment you go anywhere else for bourbon or bbq after this experience. I went to The Colony location on Thursday, March 5 at around 4pm - after first going to their Carrollton location, which was closed due to a corporate party, so I had driven an extra 25ish minutes because I really like the place.... My friend and I were intending on having a few drinks and early dinner. I love their bourbon selection, and as someone who works in the industry, understands rarity, etc. I asked the bartender. Corday (sp?) how much a pour of Weller 12 was, and she replied $8.75. "Oh that's a great price!" I replied... to which she paused and said she needed to check to see if that was the correct price. She went to the manager and came back to tell me the price had been raised to $10. Her checking on the price and the price being raised was based solely on my reaction to the initial price - no other reason. It had clearly been put in the system at that other price and had sat on a shelf for at least a significant time before I arrived. I was caught off guard by the raising of a price solely due to my reaction, and raised my concern in a calm manner with both Corday (sp?) and the manager - who eventually, and reluctantly gave me the lower price - but then charged me $1 for my ice for the first time that I have ever been charged for ice on any of my 8-10 times I've visited both locations. I was at their Carrollton location the day before and there was no up-charge for ice - this was clearly done as a punitive measure. From that point forward, Corday also gave my friend and I the cold shoulder and it was clear we no longer welcome at the establishment. Imagine going to a clothing store, finding a shirt for $20... then at the register, when you tell the clerk that 'you think it's a great price,' the clerk goes to the manager and gets the price raised... That's what happened here. My friend and I would not order another drink or food after that round, because a) Corday clearly was angry and at that point intentionally ignoring us and b) we couldn't trust that what we ordered wouldn't trigger another price increase. This was insulting and one of the weirdest/worst customer experiences I've ever had. I can no longer trust Barrel and Bones. read more

The brisket grill cheese and okra was heavy eating, but satisfying. My only qualm was that I also ordered a meal to go and the okra was not fried long enough. They still looked pale and were not fullly cooked. Also because there were a lot of flies pestering us and I imagine it's due for the roll up windows when the weather permits. They were really tasty. I personally don't WHOLE chicken wings - I prefer the parts separated like they do with hot wings but that's my Hangup.. but the flavor was worth the extra effort I highly recommend both appetizers. He said the sausage was really good and the Mac spiral noodles was a nice touch. I had the brisket grilled cheese. The server recommended extra cheese and that was an amazing call. The brisket was smoky and the cheese just the right amount of oozy. I added a tiny bit of their BBQ sauce and I was in heaven! We got talked into getting the peach cobbler. The place has a great set up with a main eating area that opens to the outdoor patios, an impressive bar, and a game area with pool tables! The patio wraps around the front and side of the restaurant and includes some comfortable couches. We ordered an appetizer of buffalo fried deviled eggs, and my wife liked them so much she ordered them as a meal with her salad. They were great and worth coming back for. I ordered the three meat platter with sausage, ribs and moist brisket. It came with a side, and I opted for coleslaw. It was a great complement to the BBQ. Everything was awesome, including the chili which we ordered as well. We came on another occasion soon after and ordered the smoked wings; they were huge (the whole wing), meaty and tasted great. The nice thing about this place is that I could get my "Que" fix, and others could get burgers or great salads. I am currently living in Illinois but cannot go back home to Texas without eating here before I leave! The environment is beautiful, the staff is SO friendly, welcoming & personable and the food is seriously to die for. You can't go wrong with a single menu item! I've been served by Corde on more than one occasion and she is always quick, efficient and kind. I've noticed that she (as well as management) are always taking the time to talk to the customers, ask them how they're doing and check on their meals. Food, Service, Ambiance, and (mostly) a Good Value too! Food; Prime Brisket Queso ($12.99) don't miss this starter! I thought the price was a tad bit high on this one, but this was simply outstanding, plentiful, and cheesy with a tad bit of smoky brisket and great tortilla chips! It easily took care of four adults ($3 ea. come on man, all day long!). 16oz dft. Dos Equis ($5), Miller Lite ($3). Cold and fresh drafts. Great service! If I didn't have the Grands (2 8yo. boys), Wife, and Daughter, I might have sat there all night long! Wanted Pinot Grigio (Who doesn't have that!), but not many wine choices they said later and the girls settled for Woodbridge Chard & Rose. The price was right. And a Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich,($13.99) with Baked Potato Salad ($2.99 extra?) makes this dish way overpriced, The sandwich was small and it seems should have included the potato. added; Smoked Buffalo Cauliflower ($6.99, way overpriced!) which (I tasted) was surprisingly perfectly cooked and very tasty (Not too hot/spicy as implied). Don't get me wrong the place was clean and food was decent but service was pretty slow even though I was the ONLY customer and they messed up on my order and didn't even have bbq sauce or utensils till I had to ask for missing items the 5th time. We got our beverages after and some napkins. Food came out quick and we wanted to start eating but we had no utensils. We had to ask someone else for utinsils. We then decided to eat then realized there was no bbq sauce on our plates.. ugh so had to get back up and go ask for bbq sauce. All the while the workers are busy watching the basketball game playing on TV. The worker apologized which I understand but we were the only ones there and theres like 6 or 7 of y'all =.=.. I took a bite of my friends "creamed corn" and it tasted like potato soup.. like where was the corn? We were too tired to ask to change or what it was and just went along with it. It wasn't really good. My mac and cheese was dry but it was more like garlic pasta than mac and cheese. Good but I wouldn't call it mac and cheese. My brisket was soft but a bit dry and the sausage was typical. I ended up dropping one of it cause my fork slipped and so I barely got to eat it. After eating, I asked for the check and was about to pay. The guy handed me the check but was telling my friend "oh did you see the fight on tv of those basket ball players??" And everyone was getting really loud and I barely could focus on reading my check that I just handed my card and decided to look after.. i mean it must be right. It was not right... I realized what he charged and put the order was some corn chowder soup. It costed an extra charge and at this point I just didn't care anymore. I can't even say we received bad service because my party and I didn't receive any service after ordering our initial drinks and an appetizer. manager and bartender were extremely rude. This is my go-to place for watching the game and having some great food and drinks. I know the staff on a first name basis and the food is always on-point and the cocktails are properly mixed. Jeff (manager) does a great job with keeping the craft beers rotated and there are over a hundred whiskeys to choose from. BBQ has good and not overpowering smoke flavor and the fat is properly rendered in the moist brisket. Portions are more than enough for the stretchy pants crowd! For those NFL fans, they have the Sunday ticket and are more than accommodating to put the game you want on one of the many TVs in the main dining area or the separate game room with several billiards. read more

My friend and I were across the street at The Shacks checking out the boho market- we decided to get some dinner and wanted to be indoors- AC! We decided on some BBQ. Walked in- we didn't know where to go or where to sit, no hello, no hostess, so we picked a table and waited for about 5 minutes, I told my friend we would wait 5 more and then hit the road. It's important for me to have a friendly face greet us when we walk in, makes people feel welcome and comfortable- soon enough when I was grabbing my keys and purse a nice young lady came by and welcomed us. :::putting my purse back on chair::::: lol she gave us menus and took our drink orders. We looked at the menu and decided to order an appetizer- she listed all of the things they were out of- sigh, some of our appetizer choices. However, thank god because we went with the smoked chicken wings- BEST I'VE EVER HAD- no lie. I feel like my friend and I were secretly competing on who would enjoy the last one. So Smoky, crispy, flavorful and savory! I wish I would have ordered 12 wings and had it as my dinner- huge pieces- satisfying and delicious! Get these! My partner and I dined here on Monday afternoon. The place was pretty empty which made the service super quick. I ordered a two meat plate (Brisket and chicken) with mac n cheese and creamed corn. It also came with pickled onions, pickles, and texas toast. The brisket was great and seasoned well. The chicken was very sweet and lacking the smokey taste I was expecting. The creamed corn was severely lacking flavor, definitely wasn't my favorite. The mac n cheese was savory and full of flavor. I would definitely go back for 1/2 priced Monday's. Cigarette in hand, she fills the water glass on some one else's table and then heads outside. I asked the other waitress if she minded checking on my Mac n cheese and asked for more tea. She walked in the kitchen and right back out with MnC and tea. When she got to my table, she asked if everything was good, "delicious!" 10 mins later my waitress comes back to my table reeking of cigarette and asked if she could take the wing plate because I had moved all food to 1 plate. I asked for a to go box. I was planning on getting a dessert, but since I wasn't asked, I didn't. But that was almost to be expected since she never asked once how I liked the food, how I was doing, etc. $40 check was brought, I paid $50. I called the restaurant to see if they included fixings and different sauces - you can't get all the options, but I did receive the Traditional, Spicy and Mustard based sauces (each were tasty). I orders 1/2 Smoked chicken (moist but not much of a smoky flavor), 1/2 rack Carolina ribs (fell off the bone), and Sausage (flavorful and not greasy) the sides were interesting, not flavorful, but if you have salt & pepper handy. I 100% should have waited and gone to Hutchins BBQ, but against my better judgement, I tried to get my BBQ fix here. The ribs, were just overcooked, tough pieces of some type of meat. I didn't actually find a single rib bone until the end, and it was the length of my wife's pinky. The burnt ends, weren't burnt and mostly just fat, by far the worst I have ever eaten. The turkey was just dry and tasteless. The green beans were cooked well, just not seasoned and topped with days old bacon pieces. The one star represents the one thing that was done right, my sons meal, brisket and elote. But he's 15 and will anything, sooo? Also, for the price you charge, offer TWO sides. I mean seriously! He didn't even acknowledge us when we walked up to the bar top. He finally acknowledged us, asked for my boyfriends order and then walked away without responding and just continued updating other people's tabs, and talking to other customers.
