    3 Monster Wings with okra

Location The Colony-north of Farmers Branch-north of Dallas Parking Large open lot Atmosphere Texas bar b que n whiskey bar-game room with 2 pool tables-they need 4! Very popular! Also a couple of video games, tv's Seating Outdoor patio, bar, inside tables-great for groups. Service We had a large group and there were only 2 bartenders but they handled food and drink orders for the overflowing crown expertly! Outstanding! Menu Something for everyone. We were part of a large party- they had chips/ guac-full tray of chips, many got the tacos-stuffed full and house made pickles. We had the chopped salad with brisket-full large slice of perfect juicy brisket-yummy!! Tender-not a plentiful serving of salad but good with sliced cherry tomatoes and shredded cheese. I was still hungry-so ordered the smoked whole wings ($14.00) and a side of okra($7)- the wings were great and really meaty as others recommended. I ordered them with Barbecue sauce but I think even with none-they would be divine. The celery n carrots were fresh and crisp. The okra was lightly breaded and tasty-perfect sized bites! They have a wide range of beers, whiskey tastings, and specialty cocktails. I had the georgia peach which was fantastic. They have late night food and drink specials. Brunch menu also. Summary Fantastic barbecue bar-really good food-super service-can't wait to return for a whiskey tasting or brunch. Enjoy!

Came in on a Monday afternoon and the service was great. The store itself wasn't super busy but honestly, I really enjoyed that since we got extra attention from the servers the food came out fast and was delicious. The espresso martini shots are a must. I also had two margaritas which were delicious and I ordered dessert to go the banana cake and it was good. Server also told me that they are dog friendly so I will definitely come back next time and bring my dog in. They also have specials throughout the week which also offer great deals. originally we came in for the soft serve margaritas, which was only served at the Dallas location, which was a misunderstanding but instead we had great food. Great drinks, and great service. Prices aren't bad! Monday burgers are 7.99. Cocktails $8.

Spicy Pastrami Brisket, Pork Belly Burnt Ends, fries

First impression is this is more "bar" than "restaurant". I didn't see anyone eating when we arrived at 7:00pm. For the record we came for both BBQ and whiskey tasting that was happening at 8:00pm. Unfortunately the server knew nothing about the tasting. She conveyed it was just for invited guest so that's why she didn't know anything about it. Well, if you consider the invite was published on Facebook and everyone was invited... Moving on- The ambiance is definitely "bar". Lots of booze on the wall behind the bar, many beers to choose from on tap and in bottles and cans. High top tables almost exclusively. There were some half-booths in a back room. I'm not a fan of the high top tables as the chairs tend to become uncomfortable after an hour or so. But I get it- it's a bar vibe. We ordered various combo plates that included pastrami, brisket, pork belly burnt ends, and various sides like fries and glazed carrots. Also the deviled eggs as an appetizer. My impression was the pastrami, a very thick slice, was tasty, but served on the "less than warm" side and was kind of tough. I prefer food to be hot or at least very warm. So this was a disappointment. It was also very dry, so I suspect it had been pre- sliced, which is not good for bbq. The pork belly burnt ends were large cubes of pork belly that were probably 2 to 4 bites each, depending on how big a bite you want to take. It required a knife to cut which is not a great sign for pork belly. It was also served "not hot". I'd rather see smaller bites and served very warm to hot. Again, probably pre-sliced and smoked that way, then reheated. I feel this is the problem: they don't serve enough of any particular bbq item to keep it fresh, in a warmer, wrapped, and sliced to order. Too bad as the selections all sounded great on the menu. On to the sides- the glazed carrots and fries were both excellent. Best glazed carrots I've ever had. Deviled eggs: panko breaded and fried the hard boiled egg half's then filled. Served warm. Predominant flavors is like the yolk from an old hard boiled egg that's been in the fridge a while. Loved the concept but flavor not to my liking. I took one home and later ate it cold out of my fridge and it tasted much better. IDGI. Desert: cake was delicious. I did t care for the topping. At 8:00 pm folks from Milam and Greene distillery stopped by and introduced themselves and said we could have whatever we wanted from their brand- shots, cocktails- on them. They were super nice. I highly recommend their Port barrel finished Rye.

Texas Prime Brisket 1/2 LB This is their "moist brisket".... Dry and from the flat part of the brisket. Worst BBQ in the area... by far.

Horrible BBQ. Take a look at the dry, undersized, and lean order that was supposed to be 1/2 lbs of Prime Fatty Brisket. This place is trying to get one over on its customers.

    Lighted patio with fire pit.

The atmosphere is very cozy and laid back. Jalea is an amazing bartender make sure you ask for her she'll get you right!

Filthy restaurant, mediocre food. Floors were sticky and windows look like someone got murdered covered in splatter. Bbq isn't any better than dickies. Can only imagine how bad the kitchen is.

Texas Prime Brisket 1/2 LB & Fried Okra
    Santanu S.

Usually, when I order a brisket plate, its contents alone usually satisfy my appetite. If it was not for the fried okra, the amount of brisket and the slice of Texas toast would not have satiated me. The pickles and red onions must have meant to be garnishment. Unfortunately, I did not realize I was overcharged for the beer until I was home. When I ordered my beer, I pointed to the Yuengling Traditional Lager on the printed menu priced at $4.50. On my bill, it shows Yuengling Flight Draft at $6.50. Fortunately, I only ordered one glass; otherwise, the overcharge would have been multiplied. As for the service, there were several regulars at the bar. Sadly, the bartender paid more attention to them. For instance, she never came to check on me to ask about the food or if I needed anything else.

The appetizers and drinks were spot on delicious :). Burger didn't really taste much yet was made from brisket, so I'm surprised there wasn't more flavor. Our server ended up being the manager cause I think the waitress was new and overwhelmed. Manager was very polite and knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks (but he was the manager, so I'd expect no less, lol). This was the first place I'd been to that tried to gouge on tipping. They might need to pay their staff more if they need the customers to give 35% tip to their staff. We probably wont be back unfortunately, cause it was a decent place and open late, but I'd have just gotten drinks if I'd known they'd make me feel bad for not giving 35% instead of the usual 20%. It was around 8pm when we went so it was quiet and not very many people. Clean and lots of TV's.

Finally dropped by here after 5 years of driving by it. In short, food was solid. Ambiance was casual. Service was a bit slow. Ambiance: modern casual and mainly focused around the bar. Service: walked in and didn't know whether to sear ourselves or not. Ended up just grabbing a table and the bartender came over. He was very friendly, but service was just a bit slow to get things like water, check, boxes, etc. since it was just mainly him. Food: I actually really enjoyed the food. + Smoke fried chicken wings: excellent! worth the hype!! Almost have me a smokey Peking duck vibe and served with a side of ranch and buffalo sauce + BBQ plate with the turkey and sausage and baked potatoe salad: good. Waiter recommended this and it was solid. Turkey was ok but sausage and potatoes salad were great! + Tacos: good All in all I would come back!!

The worst BBQ that I have ever had. The fries are average at best. Mac n cheese tasted like it was from a box. The pulled pork comes pre sauces and is terrible. The brisket had no flavor at all. The portions were incredibly small. For $60 between two people... I'm super pissed off.

I chose a great day to visit due to the fact it's opening day for the World Cup. The Colony location provided a great atmosphere and opportunity to cheer on Mexico defeating South Africa 2-0. The crowd definitely heavily favored Mexico. The place was packed a testimony to the quality service you will receive there. My server was Madelynn and she couldn't have been better. I wanted to get in early to get a spot since I'm visiting from Florida. I wasn't sure how quickly it would fill up. Madelynn was exceptional and very attentive. She made great recommendations and told me about their Dos Equis contest. I drank a few to help out her sales. I never had to ask for anything and her menu knowledge was great. She's got a spectacular look and should be a great brand ambassador for the company. I recently purchased a Rowdy Cowboy 2026 calendar on this trip and hope to see her in next years edition. She's going to be a great promotional girl. Thank you Michael J Beal Clearwater, Florida

My Overall Rating - 2 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food); 5 Stars if all you care about is the service. Atmosphere - The design is almost identical to the OG location in Grapevine. There's a large bar in the middle of the restaurant (sit here for the best service). There's even a lit "SADDLE UP" sign on the wall. But The Colony location didn't seem to be as packed as Grapevine, but it was still full of good vibes. 1 Star Service - The service at Rowdy Cowboy is legendary. If you (or a good friend) have chosen to eat here, then you know the service is amazing. If you sit at the bar, your bartender is your server. I've sat at the bar and at a table, and IMO the service at the bar is the best. 1 Star. Food - On this visit, I decided to order the daily special "Medallion Mondays". The description was a steak medallion with sides. Unfortunately, it was a very small portion. Now, it was perfectly grilled and very tender, it was just small. It wasn't enough to satisfy me, so I ordered ice cream for dessert. Thank goodness, this saved my lunch, because the simple vanilla ice cream was served with fried cinnamon chips that would make the State Fair of Texas vendors nervous. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - No. Rowdy Cowboy in The Colony is like 2/3rds of the OG. 2/3 the atmosphere, 2/3 the service, 2/3 the portion sides, etc. I'd rather go back to the Grapevine location.

The venue is designed to resemble a Prohibition-era speakeasy, with an entrance accessible through a rotary phone inside a red telephone booth (which actually works!). Our tour was led by Jamie, who shared his extensive knowledge as he guided us through the Prohibition Era alongside our concierge, Landon. The speakeasy features stunning floors made of 120-year-old Italian wood, beautifully decorated with art, books, and a selection of premium entertainment and spirits. We went in on a Sunday afternoon so it was not too busy at the time. My girlfriend and I like to be seated at a "low top" because she has back issues with climbing up into higher seating. We don't mind waiting for that as inside "low tops" are limited. The hostess was very nice, as they always are. She took us to the middle of the venue to seat us and then walked away while we were waiting on our server. I stood up to walk around the table so that I could sit next to her instead of across from her. She stood up to move over and pulled out the chair next to her so she could sit back down. At that moment the new general manager walked up, and without offering any explaination, took the chair out of my girlfriend's hand and said, "We need this table for another party." He walked away and left us standing there without offering us another solution, and apology or calling the hostess over to seat us elsewhere. We were left standing there dumbfounded and looking around unsure of what to do. We started walking back toward the front of the venue as we spotted another open "low top" near there. At that same time the female hostess saw what had happened to us, and she started to walk toward us. Meanwhile, another male server - acting as host - seated some people at the new table we were about to get to with the hostess. We got mad and said, "it feels like someone is playing a game on us!" The hostess apologized as she could see we were aggitated. It was not her fault, and we do not blame her. We blame the rudeness of the general manager. We left to go eat somewhere else. This is not the first incident with this general manager, though. A few days prior, we were eating in there and had a good vantage point of one of the side kitchen entries off to the left of the bar toward the ffront half of the venue. A bus boy sloshed water all over the floor while moving wet dishes in a container back into the kitchen. He didn't have a chance to clean it up because he was buy walking back and forth doing other things. No big deal. The general manager walks up and proceeds to yell at another female server about the water who had absolutely nothing to do with the spill After she walks away, he did not take any real care to clean the spot up himself. He comes back after a minute to clean it up but not with a mop or anything. He takes two towels off the bar and mushes it around on the floor with his foot. He , then, proceeds to kick the wet towels under the bar before walking away. Talk about a safety and hygene issue. This kind of left a bad taste in our mouth. He does not treat his venue or his staff very nicely. We wantedd to get up and tell the other female server that we were sorry for her. This venue would be great if they would fire this rude and sloppy general manager. It's a shame because this used to be one of our favorite venues to go to all the time. The experience is starting to feel cheapened and sullied now.

This was an extremely empty neighborhood bar on a Tuesday night, and they actually ended their Bingo/Singo activity early because there weren't enough people. I decided to stay for one more drink, a double mezcal pineapple (my first drink had been free with the game), and later ordered their $10 microwaved mozzarella sticks. When I got my check, I was pretty confused to see a $44 charge for one drink and the mozzarella sticks. I politely asked, "Hey, can I see the itemized check?" The bartender laughed in my face and told me no because he had actually given me a discount. He then started proclaiming, both to me and the gentleman sitting next to me, how generous he had been to give me the free drink at the beginning of the night (which was part of the advertised game promotion and something I had specifically asked about) and how expensive doubles are. While he was yelling, I decided to just pay the tab and leave. Given the way he was speaking to me, I did not leave a tip. Apparently, that made things worse. He started yelling to the other patron about how I wasn't tipping, trying to embarrass me in front of him, and saying, "Looked like she loved it though, 'cause it's empty." I calmly told him that this entire situation could have been avoided if he had simply given me the itemized receipt I asked for. I wasn't refusing to pay. I just wanted to understand what I was being charged for, especially since it was my first time at the bar. Instead of simply showing me the bill, he chose to argue with me and publicly embarrass me in front of his only other patron. He finally printed the itemized check, at which point I told him it was too late. He then explained that he had poured Casamigos Mezcal, which I never asked for, and that was why the double was a $30 drink. Again, this is an empty neighborhood bar, not an upscale cocktail bar. I was expecting something in the $18 to $24 range and never asked for a high end pour. If you're going to serve a premium spirit without the customer requesting it, especially in a simple mixed drink, it would be reasonable to mention that before charging $30 for it. I have the money and paying the bill wasn't the issue. The issue was the way the situation was handled. When a customer politely asks to see an itemized check, especially at an empty neighborhood bar, the appropriate response is to simply hand them the check. There was absolutely no reason for the bartender to laugh at me, yell at me, or try to embarrass me in front of another customer. I would have happily paid and probably would have come back. Instead, I left wondering why a simple request for a receipt turned into such an unnecessary confrontation. And the owner, the hosts of the game, the nice old folks who live down the street who all asked to see me next week - absolutely not.
