Putting aside the cheesy water feature in the outside sitting area, this seems like a nice place to gather & enjoy a beer. Had the 'Black', an oatmeal stout, it was smooth and creamy, no bitterness, and just the right amount of back of the tongue hops balance. The Double hazy was good, had some nice late and dry hopped additions, but no bittering, beginning of boil hops, so lacked balance. But clean facility, nice staff, and out of the way (away from crowds) but may be lacking parking for bigger events. read more

Sitting hear enjoying the Tyler Rich concert. Musics great, beer is good but once again we have to smell the disgusting porta pottys. It's nasty and spoils the overall event. I've complained before but apparently they're too busy or don't care to correct the problem. At least empty them before the concert so nobody has to put up with the stench. We don't have those issues at Cal Coast Beer Co. or the new Paso Robles Brewery. There's a lot of competition in our area so step up. Also wouldn't hurt to change out your food truck. BarrelHouse was right in a campus of wineries/cideries as well as some eateries. It takes up a lot of the footprint here so even if you don't like beer it's hard to miss. There's a HUGE space there with a lot of cornhole and there's a slightly smaller area with a water feature and truck, both were literally crawling with kids. I don't really like drinking with a bunch of littluns around so I opted to go to the less crowded front space. I wish they had more singleton seating, there were a couple of picnic tables out there. I wouldn't say it was packed but there seemed to be two or three very large groups that took up space but some of them left and it freed up a whole table. I had two beers there, one of which was a coffee/cherry sour. I think cherry can be reminiscent of cough syrup and I don't even drink coffee but I loved it. I try not to turn my reviews into tasting notes but I wanted to highlight that. Good beer, disappointing service. BarrelHouse Brewing has a great selection of beer -- we especially enjoyed the hard root beer. However, we were really disappointed to find out they don't offer ice. Over the course of three visits in a single week, we were told repeatedly (and rather rudely) that they had no ice because they have to "go out and buy bags" and couldn't spare any. For a popular tourist spot, it's surprising they haven't fixed the ice machine or figured out a better solution. Hard root beer over ice is a simple request -- it's a shame the service didn't match the quality of the drinks. read more

It started off as a solid Saturday visiting BHBC using a gift card from a first place raffle ticket prize! Great atmosphere while watching NCAA Basketball. Channel turned to watch baseball instead...asked the eldest of the bar tenders to turn it back to the Elite 8 game...he replied it's up to him...him referring to the bartender meathead with many tattoos and a large mole on his neck. The man mentioned above looked away and said baseball only, disregarding me and others around, long time customers, saying baseball and nothing else. Each year BH offers Society Memberships. Each year it's a Fraud. Two years in a row I have gotten to "checkout" entered my credit card info and hit submit. It "spins processing" but never processes. I was going to give four stars, then I realized there are just too many negatives. As another person mentioned the overwhelming sewer smell hits you the moment you approach the door. This needs to be addressed immediately. I was there today and there were so many dogs, it was like being at a dog park, which is fine if they're well behaved. There were so many dogs that were barking a lot, whining etc. I don't go to a brewery to be annoyed, but to relax. Barking dogs are not a good vibe. The food is from a food truck and not very good and expensive. The grounds are nice with good seating and a waterfall. There are some games provided. The beer selection is excellent and it's too bad that the rest of the experience is not. Barrel house, please consider banning dogs, get better food and take care of that horrible smell. read more

Perfect for us We tried a few different ones as we knew we will be walking around and trying a few different places walking distance away I really liked the Root Beer, was not too sweet. When we arrived the service was good and I really enjoyed the beer selection. We found one available table as it was starting to get busy. I left a tab open. When departing due to a reservation at a nearby winery the lines were huge. I asked the bartender if I could close out my tab and they said I would need to wait in line. Waited in line for way too long to close out my tab. There needs to be a better system in place. Employees are not as friendly as I would expect and I believe they have outgrown their location. We visited Paso for the weekend and were here TWICE! We came for both lunch and dinner hours. The crowds were smaller at lunch obviously, but same great crowds of people during both visits. It's a great spot for families, friends, or general beer lovers. The food truck had great food and the beers were good! We had a flight the first time and stuck to the lighter IPA type beers the second visit. Even the slush was good- which I was skeptical about. The brewery itself is beautiful and so big! We stayed in the parking lot tent area for both visits but walked around the rest of the property since it was so pretty! This place is a tiny oasis located in an industrial area outside of PR. The beer garden is amazing. Probably one of the largest and coolest beer gardens I have ever visited. There are two stages, a water feature, and ample seating. The beer was solid with a variety of styles to choose from. Parking is on the street (a minor annoyance). They do not serve food so you can bring your own food with you (highly recommended). We liked this place so much that in the short time we visited PR we went back twice! It's been a minute since my first and latest visit to BarrelHouse in Paso. Actually it's been so long ago that none of the neighboring Tin City businesses have even been there. So just before heading back on 5 North, we decided to give them another shot. There are certainly many options for beer in Paso Robles now besides the almighty Firestone Walker. That was NOT always the case. BarrelHouse has been around for almost 10 years now (coming up) and while their beers are well distributed and reach Northern California regularly, there is nothing better than having them fresh on tap. The space is much nicer and larger than what I remember and it seems like a food truck is always around in case hunger kicks in. While driving to the location, I also noticed that there are many other food options around that can be picked up or even have delivered. As far as the beer, BarrelHouse seems to stick to tried and tested, and there is nothing wrong with that. While at some breweries the tap list might be almost 100% different between two visits in a few weeks, at BarrelHouse that is not the case. Most of their core beers (and the quality) are still the same as when we were here last time. There are a few exceptions but Sunny Daze, Mango and Juicy IPA are always on, along with some seasonal offerings and new core line-up beers. Even the pickiest beer snobs will find something to like here.... With 4 locations in Central California/Central Coast, BarrelHouse Brewing is becoming a brewing force to be reckoned with and stepping out of the shadow of their Paso neighbor Firestone. For any beer trip to Paso Robles, it should be included in the itinerary. read more

Has games, misters and serene waterfall feature. There's even a small stage where I'm sure they've had bands pack the house before the pandemic. BarrelHouse is a gem of a brewery. It's nestled in a corner of Tin City but easy to notice. The property is large, and they have two or three outdoor areas and a stage where you can enjoy your beer, some music, and the California sun. The staff might be the nicest and most attentive I've ever experienced at a brewery, which is saying something. That experience is out done only by the beer. I had a flight that included the Strawberry Daze, Hazed and Confused, a double hazy, Paso Robles Sour, and the double IPA. Honestly, I had a hard time picking a favorite. Despite having lots of IPAs, don't shy away from trying out the beers that catch your eye. I didn't think the Pineapple Milkshake IPA would be good as a beer, but this was light yet flavorful. Fantastic Brewery. I definitely enjoyed all their beers here. Barrelhouse Brewing is located in a small town call Tin City. It's beautiful brewery that is kids friendly and dogs are welcome. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The brewery had a nice big bar with inside seating and big outside patio with plenty of picnic tables. They also have games like corn hole and a few other for the kids and adults. As for the beers. They have a lot of delicious IPA's here. If you're an ipa fan. My favorite ipa from here were the Big Sur Double IPA and their Barrelhouse IPA. They also have free pretzels to snack on while you drink. All in all I'm definitely a fan of Barrelhouse and would most definitely return. read more

Second time here and still great! Loved the Mango IPA which wasn't too hoppy. Sunny Daze is an Blonde Ale with a nice citrus finish. I could drink this all day! Light and refreshing. The free pretzels w/ mustard are the perfect compliment to the fresh beer and nice to cleanse the pallet while taking a "flight". The outside area is killer with synthetic turf, small pond area, a stage, plenty of seating and adult outdoor games. As a San Diegan, I've been to my fair share of breweries, both in California and all over the world. What I saw at Barrelhouse brewing in Tin City blew me away. This appears to be a family run joint, or at least the staff treat each other like family (in a good way ;) ) our bartender knew so much about every brew, and gave us a sticker when we told him we were tourists. We got the standard brew, which was a perfect choice for a light, sunny day. The ambiance was unlike anything I've seen before. Games, waterfalls (!!!) and brewery doggies made me feel right at home.
