Utterly disappointing. Pozole tasted old. Had to ask for fresh lime and cilantro for it. While that helped mask the oldness, I could not finish it per the bad taste. Went this past weekend. I realize it just opened. We frequent other barrio restaurants. The MUSIC was soooo loud, we could not hear each other talk. First off we sat at our table and waited for our waitress to take our drink orders for at least 15 minutes. We have never been there before or looked at the menu and we had enough time to decide what drink, appetizer and entree we wanted well before our server took our drink order. The ambiance was great- open floor plan, great lighting, large patio open to the street. Came during happy hour which is 2-6pm (a lot of places end at 3pm so I thought that was nice). Sat outside on the patio with heaters were everywhere so it was cozy, music also playing. The service was great, our server was polite, knowledgeable about the menu and offered good suggestions. Drink-wise, the Reina Sangria and Hibiscus Paloma was tasty. The food was good, but needs some fine-tuning and isn't worth the prices to me. I've had better Mexican food for cheaper from plenty of other places. HH is more worth it. The birria tacos (main menu item) were tasty, but not as crispy as they should be which is the whole point. Rice was not very flavorful, you could tell it would be by how light it was in color. The HH nachitos were good in flavor, but hard to enjoy being they're served in a bowl so the distribution of ingredients was way off- some nachos covered in cheese, some not at all; big dunks of meat, lots of it at the bottom of the bowl along with the pico. And if you think a bowl makes it easy to scoop out, order it and try... The sauces and salsa really saves their food. With that said, I did really enjoy the barrio pollo burrito (main menu item)- no critiques there, just tasty. Also got the HH carnitas tacos- very very bland down to the tortilla. Salsa saves those for sure. Finished with the Tres Leche and I did really enjoy it; definitely a size to share! Overall I think happy hour is worth it, but not good enough for the main menu prices unless you find something you REALLY like. I went in on a Thursday evening, the place wasn't busy but it took 40 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered "the queen" enchiladas and added shrimp. When the food arrived I cut into my first enchilada and there was nothing inside the bite. Every bite after was raw tortilla with a fraction of a fraction of cheese inside. I stopped eating and waited for my waitress to return she never did so I stopped a staff member to get my waitress. We were sitting at the bar so you would think the waitress would be somewhere in the area but she was nowhere to be found. I lifted my plate looked inside the enchiladas and one was completely hollow. Just empty raw tortilla wrapped and covered with sauce. Once the waitress came she asked me what the problem was and the manager came really aggressively beside me and cut her off. I told him my problem and he cut me off before I was finished and said he would have it remade. I said no Thankyou and he said are you sure can I get you something else to eat "a side of beans?" My plate was still full of food including beans and rice and I didn't come to eat a side of beans. I declined and then he offered my churros instead... still no Thankyou! I came here to celebrate my 36th bday and over all loved the ambience, live music and food. I ordered the Suzias enchiladas, very flavorful and my parents ordered the trio mix grilled fajitas. He was disappointed because most restaurants offer sour cream, pico de Gallo and shredded cheese with fajitas but when asked the waitress Kailee K for it she said they dont offer that with fajitas so we askes for at least sour cream on the side. Kailee K was very friendly but after we placed order it was very hard to track her and she disappeared. When we receieved our order we didn't see her to ask her for sour cream for 10 mins when my parents were already half way done with thier dish. Unfortunately their service wasn't as great. We made a reservation and got seated immediately which was great but the food took a while to come out but we enjoyed the live music. Like I said once the food did come out our server was hard to find. After we paid we asked for a receipt and she took a while as well. Over all a great restaurant but service can improve. Also very disappointing since it was my birthday and we were celebrating we asked if they did anything and Kailee K said they don't do that which was a bummer and never heard of a restaurant not celebrating a bday. Then she apologized for how long it was taking twice and our order. when our food came out it was cold I had the taco trio and my husband had the carne enchilada. very little meat in his enchiladas and again the sauce over the top was barely warm. Usually I don't go to places that have just opened due to needing to get the kinks worked out. This place as not like that at all. They had so many staff members here and they didn't care whose table or customer it was, if they saw you needed something, they took care of it or get someone to help you. I loved this! The happy hour here is amazing!!! $4 shots of good tequila and great food specials. Of course some good margs as well!! I had the spicy pork in a green chili and the size was larger than I thought it would be. It was so good! I like the homemade salsa and they fact that they served the chips warm. There is tons on different bar seating and lots of patio seating as well which was great. I am so happy this place opened up near me and I want to go everyday for happy hour here now. Me, my mom and my sister had went here and the appetizers were amazing! Our server Sierra and her trainer Annie were absolutely awesome, kind, had good personalities, and did a great job on customer service, and the prices weren't that bad. The atmosphere was fantastic!! I'm only giving 5 stars for the service! My husband and I decided to go on a last-minute date night this past Saturday evening 1/27/2024 around 8:30 pm. We sat for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment with multiple servers walking by. We finally had a server come by and explain that they cut the server in that area and she apologized, and after that the service was exceptional, I have been craving the Arizona burrito and my three tacos that I normally get. My husband got a torta. His food came out steaming hot and really good. My burrito and our tacos were very lukewarm...Almost to the point that they were cold. And actually, the tacos were cold, not fully cooked and did not seem fresh like when I used to work for the queen! I am not one to complain as I used to be a Barrio Queen bartender from another location. I understand that they just opened but having cold food should not be an issue in a Mexican restaurant with all the heat sources that they have to keep things hot! When I say, I am not one to complain, I am not one to complain on site because I know it is not the servers fault, this, at least I know will get to upper management/ corporate and it needs to be known there have been multiple sources that have said the food is cold or lukewarm. Went last night. Not overly crowded. Place had a nice vibe. Bar area massive. Food arrived lukewarm. Had 3 tacos. The fried shrimp and fried fish was so dark on the outside I honestly couldn't figure out what it was. Filling so massive it was impossible to eat as a taco. Tortilla tore into pieces on first bite. Made a mess. Tortillas should be grilled a bit to hold their shape. Kitchen needs some serious help for sure but I will try again. read more
