My dad and I came to breakfast at Barry's last week. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken quickly. As we looked over the menu we were dissapointed that they do not offer a waffle/egg/bacon combo. They do have a combo but its too many things and its 12.50. I guess I am used to other places having one for more around the $8-9 range. Also, they do not offer a waffle on the kids menu ( my 4 yr old really wanted a waffle) so I had to order an adult one. My dad had to stand up to flag down server to get a refill on his coffee. Also, while I appreciate the discount to firefighters, I find it sad that they do not have a senior or veteran discount. My dad would have appreciated that, and he derserves it. So for 3 of us ( one being a child) our bill with tip was $40. Not terrible but not great for the amount of food we got since we had to pay extra for "sides" of bacon and eggs. read more

Great breakfast place! Country fried steak with sausage gravy was delicious. It came with 2 eggs, which were cooked perfectly, a side of grits and an English muffin. It was enough food to share, but so good I didn't want to. The spinach omelet was also very good. We requested it be made with two egg whites and one egg. This made it lighter than a regular three egg omelet. The toppings are served on the outside of the omelet instead of the inside, which made the spinach nice and wilted. Highly recommend. We sat at the bar and got to watch all of the food being prepared. We can attest to the fact that the food is fresh and the food prep area is clean. The only downside is that the place is kinda small which means you leave smelling like a grill. read more

They have updated their menu awhile back. They have extended more into lunch and dinner. I still love the classic eggs and hash browns but everything I have had from the newer items have been good. This was just ok. I probably wouldn't come here again. The restaurant has no social distancing, it was super packed. Even if Covid was not a thing this place was way too cramed. The service was good and people are nice. The food was kinda pricey for what it is and how it tastes. The sausages were rubbery and tasted like oil. My husband and I were on a hunt for a good classic American breakfast and this place delivered! He got the platter and was not disappointed, said eggs, bacon, and home fries were great. We both had a pancake and like other reviews said it was delicious. I got mine as a side and it was a little pricey for the single pancake, but the quality and the story behind Barry's made it worth it. We have volunteer firefighters in our family and were intrigued by the decor. We looked up the story of Barry's and we're inspired. Barry's had a very cold beginning. In 1994 the area was hit by a huge ice storm. The owner provided hot food and coffee to the local firefighters during the emergency. From that beginning Barry's has grown into a local favorite. The walls are decorated with fire fighting equipment, helmets and patches from all over the state. If you are a firefighter you get special treatment. And the food is incredible. read more

The food is ok and the staff is always very friendly but WOW are they way over priced. I meet a friend here from work on occasion and it is the only reason I go back. I had a burger for lunch and it comes with potato chips. You can upgrade to french fries, A La Carte?? This already is strange. The burger with potato Chips was $12. I am not sure how much more fries were, I was afraid to ask. For that price they should be included. Keep in mind this a diner style place. My total check came to over $16 with a soda. Like I said the food is not bad and the staff are very good. The prices are just way out of touch with the true value of the meals. Came here with co-workers to support the owner whose philosophy to emergency workers and to be an all round good person to society if you read the history of the establishment. Not fancy, but full of memorabilia. Really big lunch crowd , and we were lucky to sneak in early at 11:30 with 8 in our party. Food good, not great..love the bonus cookie. I tried the club sandwich that was fresh & delicious with my choice of coleslaw side. Not a fireman, but it was cool to see all the support of patches from NC and across the country supporting the place. Good friendly prompt service. This used to be one of our favorite spots but I would suggest they clean up their quality control if they're going to offer delivery. We paid extra for pecans on the French toast, it came plain. The food was cold, and the driver had to wait 15-20 mins for it. The toast did not come. No syrup for the pancakes or French toast, glad we had some in the fridge. Tater tots instead of hash browns. The French toast had the batter all congealed in one side of the bread so it was dry and eggy. Just disappointed. $50 all said and done with the delivery fees and I should have just gone to a drive thru. read more

Had a negative experience at this restaurant. I was seated quickly which was nice. Ordered an eggs Benedict that came with sausage and the first few bites were okay. The hollandaise sauce tasted like it came from a sauce packet vs. homemade. The next few bites, I bite into several large pieces of egg shells. Not a small little crunch, but basically half of the egg shell was left baked into my egg. After that, I then noticed two black hairs on my plate. I asked for them to just take the item off my receipt because of what happened. They obliged, but still decided to charge me for part of the cost of the meal! They wouldn't take the full price off, still charged me $3.20 for sausage that came with the meal, even though hair was on the plate. This was not ordered as an extra side, came with the Benedict and they charged me as if it were a separate side. Unfortunately, a bit tasteless in my opinion. Also, it costs an extra $2 if you want an extra plate for sharing. Just the price for a plate. read more

We LOVE Barry's. We go here nearly every other weekend and always bring guests when they're visiting. The staff is so accommodating and makes you feel right at home. The food is classic comfort food, and we always appreciate how you can order many of their meals in different sizes. My father is a fireman and Barry's always brings me back to my roots. We love their large collection of firefighter memorabilia and Fire/Police/EMS service men and women get 10% off their bill. I will forever be a fan of Barry's!! read more

This is a 2 at best. The breakfast took forever to come out and the omelet I ordered didn't even have melted cheese in the middle. The biscuits had absolutely no flavor. The waitress had no personality and it seemed like we were more of a bother than a paying customer. She took my full plate away and didn't even ask if we wanted a box to take it home. This small, down home cafe is the best. After 2 or 3 visits there the entire wait staff know you by name and probably have your beverage preference delivered almost before you can sit down. Breakfast all day and ham burgers to die for. Also a treat for all the first responders who drop in. Fire Department gear, patches and equipment are everywhere. We showed up with 6 people on a Saturday morning for breakfast (some from out of town for a quick visit) and were seated pretty quick, the staff was bustling to clean tables and get people seated as quickly as possible but we did not feel rushed at all to finish our breakfast and leave.
