Breakfast platter with sausage links and hash browns.

Food came out hot and fresh, and it was tasty. However I think it's a bit overpriced for what you get. The place was clean and had a cool firefighter atmosphere. Service was great too. I'll probably be back to try a lunch option and will see how that compares to breakfast.

Great pancakes and omelets. A cozy atmosphere with extensive wall decorations supporting the local firefighters. You come here for the local vibe and the comfort food. It's in a typical shopping plaza, and all the store signs have the same font and color. It's near the grocery store. Also, if you ever wonder about paying the extra $1.75 to add blueberries or other toppings to your pancakes, do it. I got the blueberry pancake and they stuffed it with blueberries that each bite was bursting with the fruit. At the end, you pay at the counter.

Enjoyed breakfast on 10/18/25 at Barry's Cafe. Great food, good service, food was hot.

I echo a few of the other comments when it comes to the food being good but nothing to write home about at all and the undertone of who feels "welcomed" - I will get back to that part. I would say IHOP or even Denny's would have more "flavor" with their food. I understand that it's a really popular spot for the location as I remember growing up and seeing a lot of the older community dinning there. The waitress was a very kind young lady. She was very helpful in navigating the menu to make sure we got something we would truly enjoy. She would keep tabs on us during our dining experience and made sure to top off my coffee and the other's drinks during our visit. I ordered the Veggie omelet with a side of hash browns (roasted potatoes) and wheat toast (buttered). My wife got the special that provided eggs, meat, bread, and a side (she got grits). The food was fresh and hot - but it needed something. It was if they didn't season it even with salt and pepper! So, I asked for some type of seasoning, the waitress provided they had Cajun seasoning, I told her that was would be fine. Sadly, it was the saving grace to the meal lol because HONEY where is the seasoning! As we were talking with our friends, an older woman walks up and asks us if we enjoyed the food and if we needed boxes? She started to remove dishes from the table and you could see our waitress hurry to our table as if to say "can you please not do that?". At that point, we got the hint. Just agreed to the boxes and was handed our bill. I could over look the food, because it wasn't horrible. However, I can't overlook the "under tone" and with that I will not return.

So we pulled off, took out the trusty Yelp app, and this place popped up. Pulling it, it was clear that they were popular and busy. We went in and there was a wait, about 15 minutes. We decided to hang around instead of worrying about "making good time" and are glad we did. Once we got a seat, we received great service. Our server always kept our drink full, and checked on us just enough. We never felt like we were searching for her. Looking at the menu, I was surprised to see that the prices were not unreasonable, even though it's a very trendy place. in fact, they had a $10ish lunch menu available with a few selections that even included a drink. I was more in a lunch mood so I went that direction, and got a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Food came out hot and in a reasonable time even with a full restaurant, so this is a well oiled machine. For the price, I was pretty impressed. I would say the sandwich was about the size of your average CFA chicken sandwich, but had a bold buffalo flavor that I liked a lot. They didn't skimp on the fries, and the ranch complemented it perfectly. We finished up and our server was on top of things getting us the check, so really we still made "good time" on our drive to the coast. I would recommend Brunches to travelers and locals alike!

We were expecting a cute brunch spot, but this really wasn't that at all. The whole experience just felt pretty underwhelming. They also have a 2% service charge buried in the fine print on the menu. That's the only place it's mentioned unless you specifically ask about it when paying. When you go to pay, they don't give you an itemized bill either. You're just shown the total after taxes and the service fee, along with a recommended 30% tip. The waiter said the 2% fee was for credit card payments, but I hadn't even taken my wallet out yet when he mentioned it, so I'm not convinced that's true. Overall, just not a great experience and definitely not worth the price.

(Great WiFi!) The interior is glass on two sides, so it very bright, and appointed with comfy chairs with waist-high dividers around the bar and small table area. My friend arrived at 5:15 as promised and we were escorted to a table further down the building. The bartender brought my bill to the table later, and I asked if it could be added to the total but he said no. I had read about the pimento cheese wontons, so we decided to try those as a starter. They arrived hot and dressed with a red pepper jelly sauce. (Not too hot, a nice foil to the pimento cheese!) My friend liked them as well. Neither of us are eating large meals these days, so we opted to share an entree. We decided on the NY Strip steak ($38) which comes with smoked potato au gratin and collard greens. We tried to sub the greens for anything else, and the only other option was Brussels sprouts. (Green beans? Broccoli? Asparagus? Anything else? Nope, just stinky stuff.) So, stinky veggies were the only option. (We asked the waiter not to bring them, but they arrived anyway, and we had someone remove them quickly!) The potato's turned out to be more a chunky soup, rather than a casserole, but were tasty. Just difficult to share. (No spoons were offered for the soup!) The steak was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection (rare/medium rare) with a nice finishing sauce, and was just enough. Somehow, that steak, the wonton app ($11) and a regular house marg were billed at $88 after tax, which meant over $100 with tip, but I was enjoying my friend's company too much to dispute the bill. After I left, I did the math and figure they charged extra for something in there. But I was gone and never take the receipt, because most waitstaff do a good job of putting info into the POS system. Maybe I need to reassess my trust of waitstaff data entry. Suffice it to say this will not be a regular spot I go to. Stinky veggies, poor data entry and sides that can't easily be shared made for a sour first impression. The steak was good, but I can't find that extra $30 in anything, unless it was the toxic veggie disposal fee.

Their roast beef panini is on par with Portillo's a long standing Chicago beef restaurant (IYKYK). I've NEVER had a beef sandwich that was better than Portillo's but Postino you managed to take a hometown classic and elevate it to a point beyond my expectations - if you get this sandwich I recommend getting it on the ciabatta bread versus focaccia. Let's not overlook the tomato soup - it's so rich and flavorful. For a lighter lunch my go to is the tuna panini with broccoli salad. They are known for their boards, I've not had the bruschetta yet but it looks delicious. My favorite board is the hummus. One thing I hate is when a restaurant gives you a big bowl of hummus and not enough pita. That is not the case here, you'll get pita, toasted bread, and a variety of vegetables to scoop up the velvety humus covered in cherry tomatoes, red onion and feta. For date night enjoy a Violet Femme a gin cocktail that tastes as lovely as it looks. The service here is top notch! Everyone is fantastic. I'll have to come back to this review to note the serves names we've had because they have all been exceptional. Now let's talk about the vibe! Postino's nailed the indoor/outdoor feel. There was no music playing and the TVs didn't have volume, so the room noise carried quite a bit. At times it was difficult to hear conversation even sitting right next to each other. That said, unfortunately, during our visit, some of the dialogue from nearby regulars was disappointing, very rude, and imo racist. It definitely made us uncomfortable, which impacted our experience and led us to leave earlier than planned. I'm hoping this was an outlier for what is otherwise a great neighborhood spot.
