I came here for dinner on a surprise date with my significant other and I had the best customer service I have ever had by a waitress named Priscilla she was wonderful, very kind and knew the menu inside and out and had the best suggestions we ate so good and she was magnificent!! I absolutely loved my experience at bartaco! Bailey and Andre treated my friends and I soo incredibly well! It was my husband's birthday and he had the absolute best time. Clearly reading other reviews, there are way more people who LOOOOOVE bartaco than those who have had a negative experience. With that said, I wanted to report on my recent experience. It was crazy busy, but we were seated after about 15 minutes. I didn't realize until we got there that the servers do very little serving in the traditional sense, though. They basically tell you to fill out your order on the pad of paper and say they can answer questions. But then they're gone, and because the place is so darn busy, nobody is dying to answer your questions or make sure you have what you need. They're just busy running around taking other people's food to them...it seemed they were understaffed, and it made for a really bad experience. They have a card system that I presume is supposed to work (you put up the card when you need something), but it took a while for someone to come see what we needed after we waited for our food for 35 minutes (all the while watching other tables around us receive their food before us when they ordered after us.) I also don't think the card system should be a replacement for a server checking in periodically - we barely saw our server after our drink orders. Once we brought this to the manager's attention, she was very gracious and comped part of our order and gave us a couple of desserts. I appreciate her attempt to make it right, but it doesn't change the fact that their system seems like it could use some tweaking - more staff, more attention. I realize businesses try to cut costs where they can, but no amount of "white-washed interior, wanderlust-inspiring photography on the walls, woven basket light fixtures" will make up for inadequate attention at a restaurant (© 2015 - 2017 bartaco). read more

Very cool, hip and trendy spot serving up non-pricey drinks, tacos, bowls and small plates. Yep, this space was previously a Dunkin Doughnuts but you'd never know - (completely gutted or only used the shell) sporting an open-air porch / dining / and bar area. My first visit was Friday May 15th - 6:00ish - packed on a wait - but only a few minutes (learned they also offer a call-ahead service)... Speaking of service, ours was excellent. Bar taco is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for the type of food they have. It's like no other stree taco joint in Atlanta. I always get the oyster taco, chicken, and portobello tacos and the corn on the side. This is a hot spot in town and is crowded every night so get there early! read more

First, the good things. The pork belly tacos were maybe the best flavored tacos I've ever had. The spicy chorizo tasted great too. Bar taco was recommended to me by some co workers. It was a little hard to find the place cause it's hidden. We were seated right away and the decor was beautiful. Clean, modern, and relaxing. My girlfriend and I ordered a carafe of margaritas. Although it was a bit pricey they were fresh and amazing. The duck tacos and corn were my favorite. She loved the rotisserie chicken.. Side note; the guacamole. WHAAAAAAT! Sooooo damn good! Our waitress was a cute pregnant girl, she was so sweet! The manager Dz came by and was super friendly and all smiles. My only issue is the tacos are kind of tiny, but the taste and great vibes make up for it. Highly recommend! We will be back, BAR TACO rocks! read more

Great atmosphere, came here for a girls night out on a Saturday! Wait wasn't too long...maybe about 40-45 minutes. That was just enough time to get a drink, btw I loved the margaritas!!! Sat at the bar with my buddy today. Food was good, pork belly taco was a bit over cooked, ouster was fine, the baja fish was as well. I do like to know what fish it is because I am always fearful of restaurants serving cheap and disgusting tilapia. My buddy's was good as well. Bartender Allie, I hope that is her name or how it is spelled, she was fantastic and actually made my day. Bad day/week or whatever for me but when you get the quick conversations and also connections, well that is winning for me and this place. I'm in the business, my buddy is as well. I've been to bartaco and the tacos have been much better, but they weren't bad. The reason that I go to places and spend my hard earned money is the service first, and the rest is second. Don't get it messed up, if food is no good. I'll let someone know and give them another chance, but she was the big winner tonight. She had great stories about cancun and knew about cities we had been to in Mexico that made me laugh because she felt one way and my buddy felt another way. Went to this place today for lunch. This location has plenty of parking space due to it being in a shopping plaza. I got the small plate which included six tacos of your choice two tamale and two sides. I opted for the two ribeye tacos , Baja fish tacos and two pork belly tacos. The pork belly taco was a dollar extra per taco. And for my sides I got the corn off the cob. I would say the corn side Baja fish tacos and the pork belly tacos where are my fave. The ribeye taco was tasty but a bit salty. It also included a small side of guacamole which was very good and spicy. They initially left out the guacamole so I had to drive back through traffic to get it... I was not happy about this. Only negative thing is everything cost me $30; for that price I expected the tacos to be a bit bigger. Overall I'll definitely be back for some fish and pork belly tacos. read more

We had our first time trying this place. The ambiance is really great. The colors and theme of the restaurant are very relaxing. It is so enjoyable and different from anywhere else. The patio is beautifully decorated with navy and white, the outdoor fireplace in colonial brick style with retro string lights and the trees and clever railroad tie fence makes you feel like it is secluded and you are in a private, elegant backyard setting. We chose to sit outside for lunch and what I had never seen is that they put fans that almost seem like air conditioner units out - they are not loud or intrusive, but was something really different and a stop above other restaurants that offer a patio in a city that can be so hot and humid. They really added a nice touch to the outside feel of the place. It felt like vacation. We had great service from Mister. He was so accommodating and patient with us. He also gave us good recommendations for ordering. The other servers, people delivering the food were super helpful as well. The manager, Jeff was also very welcoming and made sure that we had everything that we needed and checked in with us periodically. The blue gingham shirts and white jeans that everyone wears ties in so nicely with the look of the place and adds to the great vibe. I have done a lot of dining around the world and am super picky. I had one of the best food bites that I have had anywhere, which was the secret taco that happened to be Lobster on the day we were there. The butter and citrus taste and the texture of the lobster, along with the homemade corn tortilla and other toppings, were all a great surprise. We had several other tacos - shrimp bahn mi, cauliflower, fish, and chicken. All were delicious. The corn is amazing - we had it with the queso fresco, which was a much higher quality than you typically experience in a restaurant. The kids menu is the best that I have seen anywhere - fruit skewers with large chunks of fresh pineapple and water melon, the taco selection is good and the kids loved the corn on the cob sliced into wheels. They also give options for the kid items like with or without the queso fresco. The locally made gelatos were amazing - the toasted coconut and chocolate were out of this world. This is a place that you can really get a taste for and have to go back to satisfy the craving. We will definitely be regulars and are so happy to have discovered Bartaco. read more

The food is fantastic! Everything on the food menu has exceeded my expectations. The only issue I see is on the service side. Everyone is friendly but not exactly a service staff in my traditional definition. At best these are order takers without any training on how to efficiently operate a dining room. Granted, you fill out your own food order similar to a sushi bar but no hall pass. Greet times tend to be on the long side and typically happen in drive-by fashion. Drink times, especially the first, are horrendous. My most recent visit saw delivery of the appetizer, an excellent ceviche, prior to the first round of drinks. Even the delivery of the fresh pineapple and spicy cucumber sides beat the drinks which eventually took about 15 minutes. The margarita arrived without garnish or straw followed a few minutes later by a melted ice Bloody Mary :(. The awesome tacos we ordered (portobello, rock shrimp, duck and more) were delivered and I switched to a Sol hoping for a quick turnaround...it made it 10 minutes later to an empty plate and grumpy diner. I've yet to have an experience there where the floating managers haven't had to run a service request for me. I'll be back but just know the service is lacking...and I'm being kind. read more

While the menu is the same, something was a bit off because the tacos didn't taste nearly as good as the WM spot. The drinks took a little too long for my taste as well. I came in on a Sunday afternoon for takeout. The register was down, but the server took my order and filled it quickly and politely. I'd heard that the tacos were small, so I ordered four just in case -- which proved more than enough. I ordered two baja fish, a pork belly, and a falafel. The fish was a bit too spicy (I'm a wimp), but it was fresh and the batter was delicious. The pork belly was also wonderful, and the portion sizes of it and the fish were quite generous. The falafel was a bit of a disappointment, as it was too dense and came with some cream cheese that I didn't like. I had takeout for the first time. Brilliant. Dedicated window, manned by 2 people and perfectly packaged food. They said 10 minutes. I was there and the food was ready. The cashier did get a little sideways when I didn't tip for takeout (is that a thing?), but even if she didn't approve she should have kept it to herself. I go to Bartaco all the time and lately the service has went down with each attendance. They have people just standing in the kitchen talking and not doing work. The waiters don't take your order by seating. They just walk up to any table and go from there. This is my local location but I may have to go to midtown as I loathe bad customer service. Love this place! I take every out-of-towner who visits Atlanta here. Their food is so reasonably priced and it is DELISH. The porkbelly taco is my ultimate favorite. Their guacamole is so good too, you'll definitely want to order a large ;-) the pear sangria is refreshingly delish, but beware, it does sneak up on you because those are strong! I've been there three times now and the service has always been excellent. Sit outside, but it does get chilly/breezy depending on the time of year. Great place for boozy brunch - enjoy! read more
