There is a syndrome that I have categorized after years of research in the field of pizza consumption. This syndrome is 'Salt Mouth'. I know it, because sadly, I count myself amongst the many sufferers of this debilitating disease. It's characterized by waking up 4 or 5 times in the middle of the night to get a drink of water, gaining several pounds of water weight in a night, and ill-fitting pants. The thin-crust Stockyard pizza from Bartoli's caused a major episode of Salt Mouth for me. Usually, I move on from a pizza place if it puts me in this position, drinking water straight from the faucet because the Britta couldn't keep up with my insatiable thirst. Bartoli's, however, earns a stay of execution. The pizza was damn good. They're not stingy with toppings, that much is for sure. I don't believe the cheese actually touched the crust on any point of the pizza, and instead was a heavy comforter on a bed of assorted meats. The crust was crispy where it needed to be, which of course is the crust. I prefer the mantle of my pizza to be soft and foldy, to coin a term. This pizza scratched an itch for a good Chicago-thin crust in the area of Roscoe Village. I'd recommend it for any well saliva-ed person living in the area and beyond. For those of us who suffer from chronic Salt Mouth, we'll just have to suffer through, but it was worth it. read more

I usually order delivery. I want say it's a 15 min drive To get to my house from their location. Their delivery sucks, and slowly I'm coming to realize their pizza is not as tasty anymore. Delivery has been more than 60 min more like 85 - 90 min. The past few times I ordered the pizza arrives cold and soggy, and not even that it almost tastes like they gave me a pizza that has been sitting there for awhile, AND I FOUND A HAIR HALF WAY THROUGH MY PIZZA!! My husband ordered wings for himself and they tasted like the frozen kind that you get at a supermarket. Time to look for a new pizza spot. read more

I dined in on a Sunday afternoon. The place is pretty small, but it's very clean and they have a nice size TV. You walk up to the counter to place your order, and you get your own drinks from the fountain (in other words you're not expected to tip). Everyone was very friendly and I was checked on a couple times. I ordered a medium (12") sausage thin crust, and it came in under 15 minutes. They have those elevated racks to sit the pizza on so you still have space on the table, always a good sign that the place is on their game. The crust was cracker crisp, my favorite style. The sauce was plentiful and very good, as was the cheese, which was clearly seasoned with oregano, another sign of a good pizza place. There could have been more sausage, but it wasn't too skimpy, and it was good but not special. Overall I greatly enjoyed the pizza and the experience and will definitely be back. The portion was perfect for one hungry eater, I was full but not overly so. I saw a couple order individual deep dish slices, so if that's your thing you can do it without having to commit to a whole huge pie. Bartoli's clearly cares about the product and having happy customers, making it the kind of place I like to support. read more

Let me start by saying I grew up with giordanos on the south side at the original location. Chicago's deep dish comes close but I was ready for something new and saw Bartolis one Saturday while driving down addison. Tried it last night and was blown away. Would definitely recommend this place as an alternative to whatever your current favorite deep dish is. read more

I was a big fan of Carrenos when they were at both buildings around Addison & Damen. Yep, that place and I go way back...it shows how long I've been living in the neighborhood. I was shocked & saddened when they decided to close; but was delighted when I learned that Bartolis was going to set up shop in the same spot. I finally got the chance to check this place out today. Walking in, I did like how they fixed the place up; there was a lot of new woodwork and a giant big screen TV on one wall. I looked around and remembered where some items were at the old Carreno's ("there was a picture on this wall; the TV used to be on that corner..."). But the renovations turned out nice. The menu was pretty standard. This order was just for me so I ended up getting two slices and a order of waffle fries. The variety of pies on the menu looked good; I'm hopeful I can come back here with others and try them out. The girl behind the counter was nice and the service time was good. When I took the slices home, both of them pretty much fell apart. One didn't even have enough cheese on it. It wasn't too greasy though, so there's that. Hmm. The fries were good though; tasty and piping hot. I do want this place to succeed. I think some of the reasons why Carrenos was so successful is because he made a lot friends in the area that ended up being loyal customers, and people often wandered in from the bars in the area wanting greasy hangover food. It would be nice to have stuffed pizza on their menu though. We'll see. I will give this place another shot, so I can try one of their specialty pies. read more

This has become my go to thin crust pizza. For the last several years, I've been looking for a favorite for thin crust, and I've tried everything. I was starting to think that Rosati's was my favorite, until I found Bartoli's. Bartoli's thin crust pizza is some of the best that I've ever had. The pizza always comes fresh, hot, and SQUARE CUT! Nothing drives me crazier in the pizza game more than a pizza that's not square cut! Besides the thin crust pizza, I haven't tried the other menu items. Just judging from the pizza, I'd be willing to bet that their other items are just as good. If you're looking for good thin crust pizza, look no further. read more

Really great deep dish pizza. Tastes very fresh and not mass produced like other deep dish pizza in town. The thin crust is pretty good here too, but not really the style I prefer. (I'm partial to the New Haven thin crust style). I recommend getting the deep dish and a salad. There's a liquor store across the street called Sarah Mart where you can find a good six pack or bottle of red to go with your pie. They deliver too! read more

I ordered a medium deep dish Chicago Stockyard pizza for delivery via Grub Hub. They had enough good reviews on here, and it seemed like they'd be a nice change. I liked it. I'm a big fan of Meat Lovers type of pizzas, so this caught my attention. It took a little longer than the initial time (about 30mins longer), but their menu says to allow an additional 30mins for deep dish. The toppings tasted good, sauce was a little bit salty, but still good. The delivery guy was nice, too. I'd order from them again. I'd like to try at least their thin crust as well as their bar food (fries, other greasy delights). read more

I've ordered delivery via grubhub from here twice. The first time we got a pizza with artichoke and bacon, which was fantastic. It had the right balance of sauce and was good the next morning for breakfast too. The second time, I tried the wings. I don't know if they just don't travel well (wings are tough to maintain crispness) but they were soggy and cold just 30 minutes after we placed our order. They also forgot part of our order that we ended up getting refunded for. I would definitely order from here again. Their pizza was great and they had a lot of options for toppings. I'm sure most of the food is better if you eat in (what isn't) but I was pleasantly surprised with my orders from here! read more

It wasn't the best pizza I ever had, but it was pretty good. I think it'll turn out to be a great neighborhood pizza place. My new favorite pizza in Chicago. It's great that they're so close to me and horrible at the same time. It's a little too easy for me to stop in for a slice now and then and very tempting when it's so delicious. Bartoli's is really testing my self control. I think their pizza is awesome, some of the best I've had. The thin crust is better in my opinion than the deep dish (though I also like thin crust better in general) and the Chicago classic on thin crust is a perfect pizza combo. I would be happy eating it least once a week, thought I don't think my waistline would be ok with that. I've both eaten in and gotten pizza to go. They're quick and friendly. The place is BYOB and a good place to bring kids. Also, they turned an eyesore of a building into a nice looking place! What a great addition to the neighborhood! read more

A couple girlfriends and I made a special date to check this place out mainly because one of them has the last name Bartoli. We had a nice time and the owners were very friendly. (Turns out there are Bartoli's from all over the city making the trek to check this place out.) The food was tasty- not mind blowing, but good. We started off with an order of bruschetta because others had mentioned how great it was. They got one thing right, the tomato topping is delicious. However, I thought the bread tasted a bit stale. Like maybe it had been toasted the day before or something. We had both a thin crust and a deep dish pizza because we wanted to try them both (and because we're pigs). Both were pretty good. I love spinach deep dish pizza and demanded that we order it. Unfortunately, the "special spinach mix" they use includes an exorbitant amount of garlic. I like garlic and all, but holy cow I couldn't taste anything else. In fact, there was so much it nearly made my mouth sting. I was grateful that the mixture was simply on top of the pie and not mixed in with the cheese like it normally is. I scraped that stuff right off and the pizza was much better. There sauce is delicious. A table nearby got the daily special of a burger and fries and it looked fantastic. I may go back to try their sandwiches. Other notes: It is currently byob which is a plus. The atmosphere and decor is nice, but could be improved if they just added waiter service and real plates/cups/silverware. Instead, you have to pick up your own menu and place your order at the counter and get your own drinks. They do bring your food to your table but that's pretty much where it ends. It's kind of like a Panera. Their exclusive use of disposable plates/cups/silverware also kind of irked me. It sucks to eat deep dish pizza with a plastic knife. On the plus side, our bill split three ways only put me out $16 and we each went home with a second meal of leftovers. read more

Met an out of town friend here with other friends. Wanted my out of town friend to experience true Chicago pizza. We had the veggie deep dish. All of us felt this is one of the best pizzas in the city. We also brought several bottles of wine, sat outside, sipped wine and enjoyed the entertainment on Addison Street. This pizza is the best (everyone will agree on about that) - But the service, both delivery and front of house is the BEST OF THE BEST. We've been a long time customer and have not ONCE had a bad pizza or customer experience. Tonight, for the first time ever, the pie arrived just under an hour, which it normally arrives in under 30 mins. The pie was warm and not hot (no big deal), but when I called to let them know that FIRST they are the best and second that our pie was not as hot as it should be, they took care of it without hesitation. Without any BS you might get from from another pizzeria that is just thinking about making it through their shift, this company and their employees took care of us by standing by the phenomenal product they have. I can't believe I went by this place so many times without going in until recently. I cannot express in words how delicious their Caesar salad is. It is hands down the best Caesar I've ever eaten. I've taken many friends and out of state visitors here for pizza and everyone is impressed. One of my friends I brought feels the same about the buffalo wings as I do about the salad. I prefer the thin crust from here as it's really nice and cheese concentrated. The deep dish is more on the saucy side but still good. They have good crust on both pizzas and you can get both by the slice too! You know what that means...no waiting an hour for a deep dish when you're hungry and having a sudden craving. As much as I love my Pequods personal sized deep dish, Bartoli's wins for have a nice slice ready to go. They also have a nice outdoor patio outside now, which is a nice addition. Okay, I'm trying really hard to like this place, as I did go against my better judgement to try it yet again. Unfortunately, still don't think I will be back. The guy at the counter when I walked in was nice, the reason two stars. Otherwise, based on the food, one star. I only stopped to grab a couple slices of pizza, again, just to give it another chance... I waited about five or ten minutes for them to rewarm a couple slices of deep dish sausage, which was still cold when we ate it. As for the flavor, it was bland and totally lacking in any kind of signature flavor. They guy made it very clear this is one they are know for; really? Good luck, I just don't think they will survive long term in Chicago, too many better places. Sorry guys, I really did try again. I can't understand the positive reviews on the pizza? I ordered from Bartoli's twice. After the first experience, I was excited. When I've ordered deep dish previously in Chicago, I tend to get soggy crusts with a lot of excess moisture on the top. My first pizza from Bartoli's couldn't have been more different. There wasn't any excess water/etc to be seen, and the crust was delicious and crispy. When I had family in town a couple weeks later, I wanted to treat them to some great deep dish, so I immediately opted for Bartoli's. Unfortunately, as soon as it arrived, I could tell this was a different experience. The delivery driver wasn't very careful with the pizza and all of the toppings had shifted to one half. There were pools of liquid all over the top of the pizza, and the box was just as soggy as the crust. I called to complain, but received nothing more than a weak I'm sorry. To their credit, they did offer to make a new one, but as I had hungry guests, waiting more than an hour for another pizza isn't quite appealing. I had thought I'd found my new go-to pizza place, but it appears I'll need to keep looking. read more

Bartoli's is a quick medium sized pizza place a couple miles west of Wrigley Field off of Addison. It is within walking distance from the Brown line. (This is where I was coming from and stopped by here) There is also a westbound Addison bus stop just across the street. Service here was friendly and prompt. I simply got a slice of pizza in an individual to go box and I was waiting for the bus a minute later. The pizza was good and again quick and convenient. It was not that busy but it was clean and seemed orderly. They have a television and seating for those who would like to eat their slice there. read more

Deep dish pizza is a MUST. Their crust is unlike any other! Thin crust is amazing too, crunchy and flavorful. We also frequently grab a slice to go. Idk what these reviews saying "omg it's under a heat lamp" were expecting from a slice ready to go situation, but they throw it back in the oven to crisp up and it's just as delicious as can be! We love Bartolis! It's very close to where we live and so quick, easy and always friendly. The owners are almost always in the shop and ready to chat and talk with the customers. Some of the other workers are sometimes less than excited to be there... but they are young and I can totally relate to being that age. They've got "bigger and better" things to do, ha! Plus the kindness of the owners dismisses their (few) lack luster workers. The pizza is delicious! They offer deep dish and thin crust options. Along with a full menu of other items, but we always go in for the pizza. They have pizza by the slice! Which is so handy for a quick meal. The ambiance is great, love how welcoming and home-y the dinning room is. They almost always have "the game" (whatever game that might be) on, or just ask and they gladly will turn it on. The outdoor seating is great, and ample. Bonus? It's BYOB! And Sarah Mart is right across the street, if you need to grab a drink or two. Highly recommend this pizza shop! read more

Perfect spot for a quick slice. Crispy crust, delicious sauce, reasonably priced for the size of the slice. My only complaint about this place is some of the younger (high school) employees are totally standoffish and not interested at all in being there, but then again they are just kids. My wife and I stopped in here after leaving a friends house on Saturday and were very impressed with the authenticity and quality of the food and the great service. This is a byob so we stopped across the street and picked up a six pack before going in. The place is small but designed beautifully. We ordered a pizza with all the toppings but had the wings and Caprese Salad to start. They were both excellent. The wings were charred perfectly with some type of lemon and rosemary topping. The Caprese was a good size with the absolute freshest tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella. Next came the unbelievable pizza with the best sausage Ive ever had on a pizza. The crust was buttery and they didnt skimp on the toppings. My wife and I agreed we would take a trip to this pizzeria next time we were craving pizza. This Pizza was awesome and just want I was looking for. There are very few thin crusted pizza places in the city (although they also offer Deep Dish), so I was so excited when they moved into the neighborhood. The sauce was sweet, and the cheese was super fresh. SO GOOD. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The pizza was affordable as well. I got a large pizza half sausage half cheese, and it was only $15.50. What a deal! My only hope is that they stay open late on the weekend! read more
