Barton Orchards had a hayride (that made a stop so you can pick apples), the biggest corn maze I've been to,haunted house, fire pit(to warm yourself up),magic show, live music,petting zoo,& mini amusement park! This place is like the Disney world of farms. The employees @ the bars & restaurants were pleasant.I can't say that about the entry ticket booth/amusement park ones. Decided to take a drive to pick apples and a pumpkin for Halloween and chose Barton Orchards. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed a full & beautiful day including pig races, a few local tasty beers, a rather doughy unremarkable pizza, hay rides (to & from the Apple orchards) and picking a nice variety of apples and one LARGE (30+ lb) pumpkin. The apples were $22 for a small bag (25 apples or so?) and the huge pumpkin was $15. The sugared apple donuts were very good! The entire day was a lotta fun. I'd recommend the trip. read more

My family and I visit this orchard annually and we always have a great time making memories. This weekend was family weekend and they had lots of cool things for kids to do for example they had a carousel ride, a giant slide, hay rides, face painting, pig races and some live animals. We had a quick bite to eat and picked some of our favorite apples which are the honey crisp. I like that they actually hand you a map of the orchard and they list all of the apples that they offer. In addition they have signage for each type of apple tree. The employees we encountered were very friendly and pleasant. Finally, we couldn't leave without buying their delicious apple cider donuts. Well, the pig races were our favorite but I didn't enjoy my apple cider plenty of Parking spacious family place to be with a touch of country this weekend so it's great about $35 a ticket to get in though so it's not cheap and to top it off, you do have to pay for a lot of things in there. They don't allow outside food and drink to an all day event. Be prepared to spend your money in cash, but prepare yourself to have a good time if that's what you're looking to do people are nice to work there and you really really have to work hard not to find something to do. read more

The admission prices here were way higher than around where I reside in CT. As soon as we entered we saw the haunted house on the side and entered, it was fun. There was so much to do, we went on a hayride that stops for apple picking, we walked through the largest corn maze I've ever got lost in, we watched a magic show that had me laughing, the magician got the kids all hyped up and it was hilarious. There was a large fire pit we surrounded to warm up, live music, a petting zoo, and even a mini amusement park the kids enjoyed. My bartender serving up spiked cider was friendly. I bought cider donuts, and wow... no wonder there's a line all day with a one-dozen limit per person. They were warm, fresh, soft, and absolutely delicious. We picked a beautiful Saturday! However It's can get really expensive on weekends during September even before you pick the apples. They charge $30/adult for "festival " thank goodness I didn't bring the kids. Then there's additional $40 or $22 per bag of apples. The parking lot was full. They are making a killing . Warning. If you go on the weekends it's going to cost you almost $40 to get in the door. It supposedly includes a ton of things. The "petting zoo" was a few goats. APPLES. I have never had this happen before after an orchard visit so. Here is the scoop on our apples. One by one (too) many of the apples like combusted (sort of) or turned into water bags. So some apples split open like the hulk, all by themselves. And other apples became liquified on the inside and only continued to be contained by the fruit skin. They literally turned into water balloons. Weirdest thing ever. Not even normal for apples to go bad like that, in my experience. read more

A tiny bag for apple picking? $22. I waited almost an hour on a long line for "chicken tenders" that turned out to be sad, dry chicken nuggets, $15 for that mess. My daughter's mac & cheese looked like soup, and they were out of the pulled pork she wanted. She didn't even eat it. The lines were endless, the food was awful, and the whole place just screams money grab. It used to feel like a cozy, family-run farm with amazing fresh-baked treats, now it's just prepackaged junk and disappointment. Barton Orchards really fell off. This place is huge. Be prepared to walk. I've been here twice. Once a few years ago for their festival and that was insanely busy and then today which was during the week and that was nice and calm. Today only some items were opened like their market, and the taproom. But on the weekends this place is busy ... the food stands are open, the corn maze, they have music, haunted house, they have pig races and so on... check out their website because it's pretty insane. Please note on weekdays it's free to walk in but weekends there's a fee (that's what we were told). There's different sections for children to play in throughout the farm. The orchard is huge. I was really disappointed this year. I waited over 80 minutes just to buy donuts.The place felt chaotic, with no clear system to manage the crowd. The donuts were fine but definitely not worth that kind of wait. Last year I waited 40 minutes for a cold, dry burger that was overpriced, so I decided to skip it this time -- thank goodness I did. I think most of the complaints are about the pricing on the peak weekends. We went on a weekday with friends, a toddler, and our dog and had a lovely time. There was no fee for entrance at all, we had most of the place to ourselves and could wander at our own pace. We enjoyed the pumpkin patch, picking our own apples- we have a pie baking at home now to enjoy. We also loved the goat walk and the petting area with the alpacas and other farm animals. Our dog enjoyed herself and there was so much room to roam and look around. Some areas were lacking in pickable apples but we still were able to fill our peck bag easily with 4-5 varieties. The farm is huge and has lots to offer including a cider taproom which we didn't get to but did look nice. While it's not the cheapest spot for apple picking I think on a weekday without the entry fee it's a great spot with a ton to offer for entertaining little ones. read more

My sentiments are similar to a lot of the other posts here, and I have visited about a dozen times in the past 20 years. It is egregious they charge $30 per person, plus a 2.5% credit card fee, yet are totally understaffed resulting in lots of waits. Fortunately this weekend we got there about 10 minutes before they opened. There was still a good sized crowd (lines) waiting to buy tickets, which took at least 15 minutes. Somehow on the busiest day of the year they didn't have all the ticket booths open. As veterans, we knew to get our donuts immediately, but even there there was already a line; again, despite being a crazy busy day, they had one person working...later in the day we saw there was at least one other person there. Finally, when we left the line to check out was huge, and only one person working, so we didn't buy anything like pumpkins. They didn't have tomatoes or peppers this year, which was very disappointing. Also, a lot was under construction. For sure it is a lot of fun to go and pick apples. Lots of parking. Really upsetting they wouldn't let anyone bring water in. That's a little much for no food or drinks. The men at the door were telling people to dump out their kids water cups as well. It was $20 to get in but that didn't include much, everything else cost money to do or eat. Got a bite to eat, listened to a guy with a great voice strum his guitar. Had a beer, purchased a ton of goods at the market, and cut my own sunflowers. We even did henna. Called early in the day to ask how late the orchard was open for apple picking. Was told it was open until 6pm for apple picking etc, was on the phone for a while asking about pumpkins and more. No where during this phone call did anyone mention that there was a festival happening and that entry for anything would be $37 a person. Drove all the way there just to have to drive home. They didn't even try to accommodate us since it was already 1 hour before the "festival" activities closed and they knew we called and no one said anything about it. Went during the week during August or something so there were not as many 'things' to do here, per the usual day on the field. Unfortch the wine/beer house was closed, the farm stand store didn't have much that we were in need of, but at least we got to hang out with some donkeys and other assorted critters for a bit! Have not been here in years and I recall the days of the haunted house and hay rides out to the field. Okay, I'm gonna get real about this place. THINGS YOU MUST KNOW about COVID-Time Operations: 1. If you go during the weekend when there is a festival (look on the calendar) - you need to buy tickets in advance 2. If you plan to do more than apple picking (AKA: Go into the festival): You need to go EARLY (like when they open) or LATE (like later in the afternoon). Like all the other reviews have said, Barton Orchards is overcrowded on the weekends. There were probably 500 people at 5:00 pm last Saturday, so I can't even imagine how many were there during peak hours. Requiring people to pay $25/pp on the weekend as an ENTRY fee AND online in advance as a reserved time slot is ridiculous and nonsensical during COVID when it is obviously unregulated (website says the tickets are limited but their "limit" is essentially nonexistent). You can't help but think that the orchard is trying to make the most profit it can without genuine regard to safety (how realistic is social distancing with hundreds of other people in concentrated areas like waiting in line at the concession stands and no one is enforcing people to stay apart or wear their masks?) Most people wore masks, but just like in the city, some don't or wear it half-assed. When you first walk in past the entrance, there's a petting zoo but in current times you're not supposed to pet the animals. They had goats, donkeys, and llamas and you can feed them hay. There were hand sanitizer dispensers near the petting zoo, store, and other areas. Dogs are allowed, and there were tons! I love dogs so it was nice, but definitely something to consider for people who are scared of dogs or have allergies. As expected this late in the season, it was almost impossible to pick apples off the trees unless you had the tree-climbing skills of a monkey because they were all the way at the top of the tree or on the ground. Unlike some other orchards, Barton's doesn't provide apple picking sticks. This place is also insanely overpriced. A large bag (1/2 bushel worth) costs $38?!?! Knowing there are barely any apples in reach of picking, they place boxes full of apples in the front of the apple orchard (MacIntosh, Empire, Golden Delicious, Empire, Jonasgold). Lots of pumpkins to pick from. You can't order any alcohol from the Tap Room without purchasing food for a "ticket." We were already planning on buying the famous cider donuts so this was fine, but wish we had known before we already waited 30 min in line for the alcohol. We had the beer and hard cider, honestly they were just okay. The donuts were SO GOOD -- the best part of this orchard! They were warm and perfectly soft on the inside. You can get sugared cider donuts or plain in quantities of 1/2 a dozen or a dozen (and you can split the type of donut for a dozen). The only downside was that they limit 1 dozen donuts per family. Because it was already 6:30 or so in the evening, we waited around 30 min in the line. There were lots of picnic tables (most filled) and some bonfires were lit in the back. Also, they will check backpacks or other large bags upon entrance and exit. Outside food and drink (including water) are not allowed. Beware of False Advertisement! We fall for the trap and I will never come back here. Location: it is located in Poughquag NY. It is 1.5 hour drive from NYC. The farm is huge and accessible parking. Service: The check in was okay. The people that works here does not know what they are selling. We bought 2 pies here and 1 pie has a flavor of "five fruits", we asked the employee what kind of fruits are they? He said "I don't know". The employees has to know what they are selling, what if I have a fruit allergy, what will happen? Food: To be honest the apple cider donuts and the pie taste really good! I give the foods a 5 star. But they have a false advertisement in instagram saying that 2 pies for $20 but still we pay original amount. I commented on the IG post and they removed it instead of apologizing. I was REALLY upset when we arrived at the Orchard. We drove 2.5 hours to get here. We paid 89 dollars for my husband 5 year old son and myself to just enter. They allowed so many people in that the lines for EVERYTHING including the filthy port o potties had a line with a 40 min minimum wait time! We arrived at 230 and bc of all the people they let in (you don't know this until you've paid and entered) we were not able to do a thing! The magic show ended without us being able to see a show bc there were too many people (however the magician was so sweet and did a few tricks for some kids after his time was up bc he felt bad) I waited 37 min for a beer. The barn yard was empty except for a few chickens and a llama and some goats outside in a corral together. The hayride operator was so unbelievably rude it wasn't even funny! People actually left bc of how rude he was during one of his stops to cram more people on. The "slide" had noone managing or overseeing it so there were grown drunk adults plowing children over it was a disaster. The owners of this farm should really be ashamed of charging people so much money for what they had to offer.....NOTHING! It was just greed! Ooh and the best part the corn maze was closed AND you have to pay extra to pick apples at the apple orchard you just paid 30 bucks a head to enter... This farm is AMAZING!!! SO MUCH FUN!!! spent the day with my grand babies and family. SOOOOO MUCH to do, to see, to eat & drink!! Great drinks food and service! We usually go to a different orchard but we went with friends this year and this was there pick and we will not be back. If you like chaos and a pure money grab then this is the place for you. Almost $100 to enter for 2 adults and 2 children and that is just entry. You are not allowed to bring in any outside drinks, I understand open bottles but that pertains to completely sealed bottles also, again another way for them to just grab money from you. The porta-John's when we first entered had about a foot of water outside of them from the previous days rain which then created a huge wait at the other restroom so 30 minutes for my 2 daughters to use the bathroom. The lines to get food where at least 20 minutes long and that was for a poorly cooked burger and frozen tenders. There's fun outdoor activities you can do and there's a really cool looking petting zoo that kids and adults would both love. The service is always pretty quick especially considering crowd size. Barton Orchards is a beautiful apple orchard. Visited on a sunny Tuesday with my girlfriend so it was not as busy as other reviews might have mentioned which was great! There is so much to do and experience you could spend the whole day there. They have the apple orchard for picking, a pumpkin patch, and a vegetable garden. Dogs are welcome and they even have a dog park which is a fenced in area. They have a corn maze, tap room, bakery, and food. No outside food or drinks allowed however you can leave and re-enter. Went to Fall 2020 festival on Saturday, September 19 and paid $20 per head for entry. You should save your money but here's a candid review for those interested. Here are the positives: 1. Lots of activities especially for kids - maze, mini golf, large play area, slides, farm animals, etc. 2. Lots of food options and stuff to buy from farm. Here are the negatives: 1. It was extremely crowded and unorganized. We thought the farm used the $20 ticket system to manage the crowd but that wasn't the case. They probably used it to sell more tickets and avoid hiring more staff to take cash during admission. The parking was packed when we arrived at 3pm. I could only imagine how crowded it would've been at noon. 2. Line to purchase a bag to pick apples were extremely long. Great way to lose business. Unlike other orchards where they'd just hand you bags and pay for it at checkout, they place was selling bags at snail pace. To make matters worse, all the apples we saw were either: 1) too small 2) not ready to be picked 3) taste bad 4) weird varieties 5) in very bad shape due to lack of sun. 3. Staff didn't control the crowds. Lots of people were without masks walking around outside the food area when they were only supposed to eat inside the food court. At the rides, staff sat there instead of managing lines for kids to take turns on the tractor ride or ride the bikes around the tracks. Staff also didn't bother cleaning after each ride for sanity sake. 4. Staff didn't really gave a damn about customer service at the shops. At the farmer's market on our way out at 6pm, we decided to buy some food for the road. We waited a long time to pay. As we were in line, 4 cashiers were chit chatting and just left their station. 5.
