We went there with friends and it was a mixed bag. The beer was, of course, wonderful. I had the Oatmeal stout and it was delightful! My wife had the Double Bock and liked it as much as I liked my beer. I had the mussels with green curry sauce. The mussels were very nice! However, I was surprised that it was served with a baguette - the classic Belgian combo is mussels and frites (or French Fries to us Americans). Speaking of frites - my wife had the fish and chips, which were served with double fried Belgian Style Frites. The fish was good, one of the top 4 or 5 in the Grand Valley. The frites however were an embarrassment. If they were double fried, it wasn't the day we ate them. They were limp rather than crisp. I've enjoyed Belgian Frites in Belgium, and what they served was nothing like the real thing. The dipping sauces were good, but not good enough to make up for the limp fries. We'd have been happier with mass market frozen fries fried competently. If the fries had been good, I'd have gone to 4 or maybe even 5 stars. The ambiance is rather industrial. This is not the place to take someone on a first date. In warmer weather, the outdoor tables might be very charming. Service is your standard order at the counter and we'll deliver it to you. The bartender/waiters were friendly. As usual the distance from meh to great is not that far, but they just didn't make the trek, being stuck at the base camp and never making it to the summit. read more

I went here with some friends with not high exceptions thinking the food will taste like your usual bar food via Sysco or US foods. Wow! I was totally surprised by the the quality and flavor. The cheeseburger, fries, wings, and calamari was top notch. I recommend trying this place out. read more

I'm really done. Gave them another chance. Overpriced re-heated frozen food. The atmosphere is nice and if you're going to be with friends, that's great. As to the food and service, it's pretty bad. Kelly and Melissa went above and beyond to assist my father and I. In fact, they make a point of treating my father with kindness every time he comes to visit. He's a disabled veteran with PTSD that doesn't interact with the world like most people. They treat him with kindness and respect every time he visits. He's not an easy customer by any means, but they are so happy to be friendly to him. I can't express how deeply I appreciate this place and their employees for giving my dad a safe space to be himself. I visited for the first time today and was blown away. Honestly the drinks and food are great. But I wouldn't have cared if they weren't. The people working here are special. AND DESERVE A RAISE (if the boss is reading this.) I ordered the fish and chips! Delicious with a nice crunchy Pilsner's breading. My husband ordered the burger of the day which happened to be blue burger! Yummy! It is mostly self serve - you order at the bar and they give you a number to take to your table! It was a beautiful sunny day so we sat outside! I would suggest that you take your time looking over the menu. They have a wide selection of both food, beer and mix drinks! The food is okay, nothing special. The mix drink that I chose came out of a tap, that was my first clue that this wasn't going to be a good drink experience. I suppose if I had wanted to pay cocktail prices for fruit juice, it would've been fine, but that wasn't my plan. If you're going to this eating establishment by yourself, then you may have a chance. But if you're going as a couple or a group, don't expect to eat together. Apparently they don't have heat lamps and their "claim to fame" is serving food fresh. Your food will come out in stages and you may have to wait up to 10 minutes between stages so don't expect to eat your fries with your burger and don't expect to enjoy your meal with your dining mate. read more

We're always looking for a nice place to stop on our road trips. I loathe fast food- even when we are in a hurry, it does not mean we want fast food. We had a spattering of food and drinks from the menu with no complaints- all hot, tasty and served as soon as it came out of the kitchen! They have a huge outdoor area great for dogs and outdoor heaters to keep you warm and comfortable. Nice selection of beers and ciders, huge variety of items on the menu, and a great selection of whiskeys- I need to come back when I am not on a road trip. Definitely on our list of favorite places in a desert filled with fast food. read more

Based on a recommendation from our daughter, we stopped by and tried Base Camp out. We were very impressed. We had the Calamari and Crème Brûlée and they were both wonderful. This is the first time I've visited Base Camp Provisions but was fairly impressed. It's set up pretty much as a an order and eat type of eatery but the food is good. They have some of the best fries I've eaten at a restaurant and have good burgers. Ambience is definitely set up for the get together with a bunch of friends for beers type of set up. Not so good for folks who are a little hard of hearing. The one thing that was a bit on the negative side was that with four people in our party we received our orders one at a time, separated by 5 to 10 minutes even though we ordered at the same time under one order. By the time some got their food the others were almost done. Regardless it was a nice experience and would return. read more

Interesting business model, no service to speak of yet tips are expected. You order at the counter, carry your drinks to the table. They do walk your food out to you but you're on your own for follow up service (drink refills, additional orders, condiment and silverware setups) We even had to bus our own dishes when we finished. Not a big deal, but then why is tipping expected to basically do their job (take the orders and cook the food) The food was very good except our side of fries was delivered long before our sandwiches were brought out. Walked in and was immediately impressed. Lots of thought and funds put into the physical structure. Ordered a small salad and the ribeye gyro and my other half ordered a burger. Boom salad right out and delicious. So far so good. Then her burger came out and i proceeded to watch her eat her entire meal and then waited another 10 minutes for my meal. Several other tables in various stages of confusion, irritation and a couple down right angry. So we watched people get there fries then a burger 15 minutes later. My favorite was a man complaining that his wife had finished her soup and he still didn't have a meal. Food runners poorly explaining that we serve it as it's prepared followed by a snarky we aren't Applebees comment. But at Applebees you get to eat together. Good grief make his sandwich and then plate up her soup so they can eat together. Bottom line nobody says hey let's go out and watch each other eat. Also heard our food runner explain our kitchen is very small. We have a women in eagle who serves a 35 seat restaurant out of a food truck and it's amazing 5 star food. After 25 years in the restaurant business myself I have never seen anything like it. It was all I could do not to go into the kitchen and start helping and training. Time to get one professional in the kitchen and start training those well meaning kids. We will be back again to give it one more try. Hopefully we can dine together. read more

The food was good, lots of seating with a great outdoors space. Had to wait in line a while, in a small area in the back of the dining area, with lots of people, to order food and drinks. The staff were all friendly and offered good suggestions once we made it to the front of the line. After we ordered, we were given a number for the table and each person's food came out individually, one dish at a time, several minutes in between. This wasn't ideal because half the table was nearly done by the time the last person in our party of four got their food. Also, it's a pretty big area between inside and outside seating, and their system doesn't seem very strong, because you watch as they parade the food throughout the crowd searching for the table that ordered it. But again, all that's said, food was good, lots of seating, great outdoor space, and staff were all awesome. read more

Difference between a 3 star and a 4 star review is a second visit. First visit on Mother's Day was 2ish in the afternoon. They were busy and I like the space- lots of indoor and outdoor spots, nice vibe. Good dog policy (for Fruita) as dogs are not allowed inside. The beer was good - on par with some other local brewpubs. The wait for food was extremely long. We ordered mussels (mariniere broth), fries and a Korean BBQ sandwich. When the order finally got there, the mussels were excellent - big, tender and the sauce was light enough not to overwhelm the mussels. The bread that came with it was yummy and they did not scrimp on that. The large order of fries was huge, a bit under seasoned but very good. They offer malt vinegar for them and different sauces. The sauces were just okay and the malt vinegar was perfect. My son got the Korean sandwich which he seemed to enjoy. Second visit we sat in one of the outdoor spots that was sheltered - nice sofa area, out of the sun. The place was not nearly as full as it had been 6 days before. There was a graduation party in the back area. There was no signage to indicate the area was reserved and we were there for quite a while, waiting (a LONG time) for our food. The manager came back to us and, kind of coldly kicked us out saying it was reserved. Tip: if you're going to inconvenience your guests for a mistake you made by not putting out the proper signage, then make up for that in some way even if it's offering a complimentary draft. We got the mussels in curry, fries and a beef melt sandwich. Fries came first and were way too peppery, sandwich was good but a bit too greasy. Curry mussles were also a bit too peppery but still good. Overall, the beer is good, the food is the best part, and customer care/management needs work. read more
