Several friends and I only use Henok at Basic Auto Repair to maintain & repair our vehicles. My friend's daughter even shuttles her fleet of 10 Touro rental cars back & forth from near Palm Springs just to use Basic Auto Repair in Ontario -- 75 miles each way. If that's not a ringing endorsement then nothing is. I once told Henok to do my rear drum brakes at the same time my front disc brakes were serviced (rotors turned & pads replaced; I was down to metal on metal) and he refused to do the rear brakes because he said they were just fine. My neighbor recommended this place for auto repair, he's been going for over 20 years. We had a car radiator that was leaking and the dealership didn't have any openings so we thought we'd give them a try. The location is a bit tough to see with the construction on Holt, but its between the laundromat and the business that looks like a house. Went in early morning on a Tuesday and asked what they would charge for the replacement of the radiator. Henok was quickly able to provide me a quote and even told me that we could be squeezed in same day. The quote seemed reasonable and it included labor. We decided to take the car in and they had it done by the end of the day! Henok was friendly and seemed to genuinely care about getting us back on the road. He was able to explained how the radiator leak happened and showed us the pieces that were found stuck in the radiator that caused the leak. Overall great service and no nonsense prices. But he's also very honest and super personable. I've always been warned about going to a mechanic as a female because they tend to take advantage of the lack of knowledge. But Henok and his staff are some of the most honorable people I've ever come across. It's as if they make suggestions/recommendations as if we're their friends/family members. The owner of this place has always given me an honest deal. I have taken almost every car I have ever had to these guys over the last 20 years from the beat up old cars I had a kid to newer cars I had as an adult and always gotten good service and a decent price. I shopped around to find a good price for my water pump on my 2014 Ford Flex .Got quotes like 2,000 or a little less and ( I can't fix it until next week or so ! Frustrated and strapped for cash I found BASIC AUTO . Mr. Henok quoted me 1,100 and took my car in the same day, fixed in 2 days . Basic Auto saved the only family car we have at a price I couldn't believe . On top of the great service my check engine light was on ( I was already aware of it before I turned it in and I already knew what it was for ) he told me why it was on and and investigated online that my catalyst converter is a possible recall from Ford , WOW ! I used to go to Henok years ago and at the time, this was the place to go to for a vehicle inspection or repair. I used to drive into Ontario all the way from Sherman Oaks if that's any indication to how great his service was. Now, he just can't support all the new business anymore and trying to get him to service or even look at your car is an arduous task. The last few times I've called he's referred me to other shops in the area because he's booked solid. Even when I've offered to come back at other times during the week or month. Horrible experience on 06/11/20 I brought my truck for 1 problem, but their diagnostic was that my truck needed more than I thought, I said okay if my truck needs all this this repairs go for it! They did the following jobs... Remove and replace: Cabin and Air Filter (Cabin air filter (N)) Remove and Replace: Timing Cover Gasket Set (Timing cover gasket set (N)) (Serpentine belt (N)) (Water pump assembly (N)) Remove and Replace: Valve Cover Gasket Set (Valve cover Gasket Set Spark plug irandium (N)) And couple more things they fix according to the bill statement $2,130.00. On 9/6/20 I picked up food from a restaurant a couple minutes after I had my truck parked and with the switch still on I heard something on the engine I immediately turned off my truck and I open the hood, when I saw the belt broken and a lot of water on the ground. 2 days later I called them and they told me to bring the following day because they were very busy, I did I didn't heard from them until 9/12/20 just to let me know to pick up the truck that it was fix, when I asked them if it covered their 90 day job warranty they said (NO), they fixEd their own poor quality job and ended up Charging me $120 more and also they delayed fixing my truck because I brought my truck on 09/09//20 and they call me on 09/12/20 just waiting on the warranty to expire so they can charge me more. I asked my father if he could help me with my truck taking in to the mechanic, because I have had bad experiences with mechanics before and little that I knew that they also took advantage of my father a 67 year old grandpa. I can't believe that shops like this are still in business they wait until the last minute to do the job in order for you to pay more, well actually I now understand why they still are in business and claim it was your car and not them, they are doing poor jobs on purpose in order for you to keep coming back to them, they also make your car last long enough until the warranty expires so they can charge you. I personally wouldn't recommend this mechanic because they are inconsistent and waited until the 90 day warranty to expire to give me my car back to charge me more. I believe that there is a lot of good and honest mechanics, unfortunately this is not one of them. I wouldn't give this place any stars but I feel obligated because they fortunately gave my car back to me. read more

This place is wonderful. The first time we took our car to Henok, I was surprised at his honesty. My wife dropped off the car and I told her to let me do one of the two things that was wrong with it. She told him to go ahead and do both so I called a little upset. He had already begun and actually offered to take everything back out and replace the old stuff with no charge! I said he could finish and he offered to let me see what his guys were doing to show their quality. Been going there ever since and I have no plans to stop.
