Jim the shop owner is one seasoned veteran of a mechanic who will take his time to efficiently troubleshoot your cars issues. It's really hard to come across a good mechanic nowadays. I came in with a surging idle issue on my car that didn't have any codes and multiple other shops that toyed me around and could not figure out what was wrong with the car. He went down the line to troubleshoot the symptoms very thoroughly and communicated the discrepancies before he started any work. Stopped here for a smog check yesterday and it was super quick and very friendly. You don't really expect great customer service at a repair shop, but this place has it! It's too bad they're a bit hidden. I was a little scared to turn into the shop but I'm so glad I didn't pass it up. I had called ahead to see if they accepted walk-ins and the nice gentleman on the phone said to "come on down"! It's located on mountain, if you're driving south on mountain make a right right before that car wash and it's the first little driveway on the right. I parked and was greeted by I'm assuming Jim? He lead me into his office and checked me in. I was in and out in about 20 minutes? He let me know their shop did more than just smog checks and I'm sure to come back if my car needs any work in the future. read more

Originally quoted me $180 for a diagnostic on my break lights, ended up charging me $360. Jim quoted me 180 for "a diagnostic and 1.5 hours of labor" and said he would call me if the price changed so I could approve it or he would just charge me less if it took less time. He called me Friday morning and told me my car was ready to be picked up and our new bill was at 360 without approving any further repairs or labor needed. They kept my car for 1.5 days. I dropped my car off on a Wednesday and they didn't look at it until Friday morning. Just for them to "push the prongs in the sockets back to their normal place". Didn't replace any sockets, didn't rewire anything, also charged me $20 for new bulbs that he said he had just lying around when my bulbs were completely fine. read more

My daughter took her car to be repaired and paid over $300 for used light bulbs, didn't replace the socket. The entire service that was requested. Didn't listen when we instructed them not to leave the radio so they killed the battery had to recharge it, but now the radio doesn't work. Didn't even try to assist my daughter on getting the radio to work again. They claim the cost was due to labor and they are the ones who called and asked my daughter to keep her car longer because they were backed up. So technically the labor costs were on them for not scheduling accordingly. Poor customer service and my daughter's car now has other issues. read more

Even in August 2020, a full year after I wrote this review, I still vividly remember how this James G guy MISTREATED me and told me to "GET THE F** OUT OF MY SHOP* There is no reason for me to lie. I wouldn't have wasted this much time typing this whole thing if this wasn't true. I only want to share my experience so that others can avoid this horrible customer experience all together, or speak up against this shop if the same thing happened to them as well. I came across Wayne's Automotive because I was referred through AAA. I came in for smog checks and an alignment with my older civic and never had any issues. So with my newer civic 2015 I needed a transmission service done and I had just got my oil change done through metro Honda and they told me I was due for a transmission service, I wanted a better price so I called Wayne's Automotive and James the owner told me to bring the car in and it should cost between $125-$400 but I knew it couldn't be more than $140 just because it's a Honda. I've had an expensive car to maintain before and Honda's are not that expensive. So I came in 2/4/21 to get my transmission service and James tells me it's going to be around $264 and I was speechless. I felt uneasy about it so I called my bf and he had showed me the paper work for metro Honda dealer and told me the dealership is charging less to service my car, before they can service my car I ran out to let James know that I will be going to the dealership instead because they are charging less. He immediately said let's try and see if we can work something out. I'm like what the?? He goes on the computer and tells me that instead of $264 and with the AAA discount it'll come out to $158 plus the taxes. I'm thinking how did that drop so much?? My bf heard everything while I was on the phone with him and was furious!! My bf was telling me because I'm a woman they think I'm stupid and they were trying to fuck me over and also because I'm a woman they are trying to hassle me for more money and that's shady!! I agreed with my bf 100% but I felt like I was in an uncomfortable position and yes, I did feel very disrespected!! I just decided that I would finish whatever business I have with James and never come back. I honestly thought this could be my new shop, a mechanic I could trust with my car or cars. James tried explaining why it was more expensive because he didn't have that kind of oil in his shop so he had to get it somewhere else and from now on he will start holding that kind of transmission oil but it's a Honda and everyone and their mom drives Honda's so I wasn't really buying it. I just wanted to finish whatever business we had together and be done for good! You will see here in the pictures what the original price he was charging me, what metro Honda dealer wanted to charge me, and after I said I would go to the dealership for my transmission service instead you will see the final price change. I'm not trying to bash this business just stop stereotyping us women just because we are women doesn't mean we are idiots when it comes to cars! Over two weeks have passed and not only did Wayne's get my husband's '93 Cadillac to pass the smog with flying colors but the strange smell of fuel after every usage of the car we've tried to have fixed for years is no longer in existence. So many mechanics have taken advantage of sapping a few hundred here and there, while never getting the initial problem taken care of in the past because this vehicle is older with less than 45,000 miles. I talked to Jim about my son's car he mentioned 3 issues. I told him to fix the power steering and the axle leak. Great guy but unfortunately I could not go to get so my wife went.i get home and find out he did not fix what we discussed. Guess he decided to fix what I guess might have been easier. My son and I both told him about the power steering issues. I told him to fix it. They had my son's car for over a week and I had to call constantly to find out the progress. I can understand that due to covid it takes time. But to fix what you want and not what you asked were to fix and charge 416.00 in labor is unreal. Apparently due to covid guess they figured let's make some money. Sad to say because I have taken my other car's in the past and had great service,but this is unacceptable. This is the slimy mechanic shop that will RIP your mom or gf off. They'll take a car with a check engine like knowing it wont pass smog and then charge you for the test. This place is a big joke If you are using the cat program do not take your car to this auto repair shop wings auto repair shop he will overcharge you and he will charge you for some things that was not needed to be done Under your car for instance air mass flow sensor that sensor for my car Chevy Tahoe 2002 is only 125 some places have it for as low as $69 the lawyers I found was $29 this man charged me 399 just for that but for that and the syllonore sincere that was only $89 he charged me $400 for that also I originally told him my Cadillac converter was the part the problem with my car and maybe the silver nor sensor but he did everything but what I told him to do on my car and then after he realized it was my car and then after he realized it was my catalyzed converter and I'm not even so sure if he really just did that because I forgot to ask for the Cadillac alert apart I mawe're depart I'm make sure you give me my party's call yourself taken off Mr. Jim you are a joke you rip me off anybody out there do not go to Wayne's auto repair especially through the cat program and now I am going to call the better program and now I am going to call the Better Business Bureau on this shop because he is a rip off read more

Brought my vehicle in a while back for a simple radiator hose replacement. Work was done and 2 days later the same hose exploded while driving on the freeway. Had to have my vehicle towed back to Wayne's just for them to tell me there would be additional charge, and that it was a separate issue and not there fault. Ah, I've been wanting to write this review for a while now. My experience with this shop was a pile of hot garbage. Over the Spring, my 2005 Lancer ended up overheating on the freeway, which led to the headgasket getting blown with all the tell-tale signs (including the foreboding white smoke). I ended up breaking down a few miles from this shop and got it towed over there. With 150k miles, it had a good run but I didn't have the money a headgasket bill, so I was hoping for the best. After an hour or two they told me that the headgasket was fine, but I needed a new radiator, a few other parts, and that I might as well get the thermostat replaced too. I was hesitant about the thermostat, but they signed me up for one of those cards that let me make payments so the repairs were easier to swallow. I went for everything they recommended, about $500 in repairs. I ended up getting my car back later that day. The owner told me everything was good to go, but as soon as I sat down to drive it I noticed the engine had a hard time turning over. It took me a few attempts. I raised my eyebrows at this, but he assured me it was fine and not to worry about it. I thought that was really strange but he seemed like a good guy and I took his word for it. I did end up making it home, but it drove quite poorly and I heard a lot of sloshing under the hood. Once I got home it wouldn't start again at all. When I took it back, they basically told me, "lol, actually your head gasket IS blown and it's going to be about 2k to fix." Because it was an older car I was hesitant about such a huge bill, and had already forked out half a grand for a brand new radiator. I ended up buying my own head gasket set to try and ameliorate the cost, but every time they would requote me the cost would mysteriously go up because of something they "forgot" to include. This went on for about two weeks. Long story short: Ultimately I said "screw it" and got the car donated. Meanwhile, I spent about 4 months making payments on a repair bill for a car that did not run, so that was cool. This was the first time I'd felt truly ripped off by a repair shop. The reviews were very promising and the staff was nice, but I can't recommend this shop at all. read more

I had 4 separate issues with my 2003 BMW 330i. Still a great car for me but getting old. Plus I had run over a larger rock while transitioning onto the freeway. I took my car to Jim at Wayne's Monday morning and got it back Friday night! I honestly didn't think I would after ok'ing the work on Wednesday. By then he knew exactly what the plan would be and executed it perfectly. All issues resolved (brakes, leak, broken door stop, heater issue). It was about what I figured I'd pay (2 grand) but it is what it is for a BMW. New parts are expensive. Still, I trust Jim. He has always been fair and they know they're autos! read more

Keep this short and sweet created a yelp account just for this review. The brakes on my 98 regal were poor at best. I paid a lot for a (brake inspection) a week goes by i had to call them! To find out they did a brake inspection and found nothing cars normal. 1st Master cyl was old as sin itself and full if dirt. 2nd Front brake pads were old and flaking apart. 3rd a CV axle boot was blown grease everywhere. My old man (master machinist + engineering mastermind) and i spent a whole sat doing a full brake service in the driveway fighting off heat stroke. Very labor intensive. Labor is big money in a shop!! Well now i can just about throw myself through the front windshield. As the old saying goes want it done right do it yourself! So why didn't they at Least inform me of the front wasted brake pads and the CV axle boot? Seems unprofessional did they even look at the brake pads? Cant say for sure i was busy doing my job trusting they were doing theirs... not impressed. To Wayne's may the rats eat your mail, may your testicles fail, may your wife run away with a hippie. Came here yesterday for my smog check on my 2012 Camry for a total of $28 with the coupon and that includes the certificate. The waiting area has chairs, cold water dispenser, tv and a fan unlike other places I've been to that had no waiting area and for a higher smog check price. read more

I've been coming to Wayne's for years. When my car failed smog at a gas station, the attendant there told me that it was my car and that they'd charge me $300 to diagnose the issue. The price was steep so I took it to Wayne's instead. Again, car failed smog, but instead of jumping straight to charging me a diagnosis fee, Jim took the time to figure out what was giving the failed reading since my car should have passed smog. Long story short, Jim had to run the car another way in order to pass smog since it was an internal issue and not the car. Been coming to Wayne's for all my automotive needs. read more
