Pretzel Sticks and beer cheese
Julie B.

We stopped here for lunch while in Bristol. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our time there. The saloon was welcoming and felt like a time warp as soon as you walked in the door. Loved the old time feel and laid back atmosphere. We started out with the pretzel sticks and beer cheese for our appetizer. It was really good and we all enjoyed it. I ordered a strawberry margarita that was perfectly made. For my entree I went with the chicken bacon ranch quesadilla. It was good, but the chicken was huge hunks which I wasn't expecting.

Goat cheese salad with almonds and cranberries. Yum!

It was a cute pub with high top tables and open air windows. Food was great. Bacon cheeseburger and fries were quite tasty and better than most. The goat cheese salad with honey vinegarette dressing was excellent (but the added chicken was kind of dry) The servers were attentive as possible while being short handed. It took a long time for our food to come out. We would go back. The menu had many other items we'd like to try.

Stopped in here during the State Street festival on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty packed with people watching college football. We were sat pretty quickly but it did take awhile to get waited on. Once we did, the waiter was very good and our food came out quickly. My friends had the short rib grilled cheese. They said that the meat was cut into large pieces which made it pretty hard to eat. Their French fries were really good. I had the goat cheese salad, as I love the croquettes at another restaurant. For the price, it really wasn't that great. The chicken was good but had fatty pieces and there definitely wasn't enough lettuce. I get this same salad for the same price at the Tipsy Toboggan and the amount of food and presentation doesn't compare. Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5 for service and for food.

Great food, great atmosphere (incredibly beautiful decor and interior) and our waitress was from our home state - talk about meant to be in the right place at the right time. Very hip, yet chill place for apps, dinner, drinks and everything in between. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making the kick off to my birthday weekend so incredible! Ps. Your waitress from CT rocks! So attentive, so helpful and just awesome all around. Look forward to visiting again soon

Delicious, warm pretzels

We had a fun time at the Saloon. Wait staff were exceptional and very accommodating. We were coming from a dance show at the university and we had our own cake for a birthday. They said no problem and even got us candles and a lighter. Food was on par for bar eats and the French fries were very fresh. Pretzels were soft, hot and tasty. Fish tacos were excellent. Great specialty cocktails. At the indoor setting it almost felt like it was outside with the big windows that were open on a beautiful day. Highly recommend for an informal setting and not too loud.

Street parking. Great service Good clean restrooms. Ok menu selection. Great martinis. Loved the expresso. Good onion rings. Average price. Not a great selection of appetizers. In my opinion.

The food side of the menu, drinks are on the back (I did not try any).

We've read of problems they've been having with the township and unfortunately it shows in the good. A Caesar salad was a plate of wilted bits of iceberg lettuce, a few croutons, a sprinkling of powdered Parmesan cheese - and that was it. No tomatoes. It was the quality you'd expect on an airplane. The turkey club used to be amazing. Now it was just OK. Still real sliced turkey breast but old and dry instead of rich and savory. There's a long list of draft beers on line. When asked the waitress said the only draft beer available was Harp. Literally one draft beer out of over a dozen on the menu. We'll sorely miss the old Aidan's, and hope a new owner might come along.

The service is always friendly. This time, they had a new special that made me post this review. It was seared scallops, served over a smoky corn puree with BACON and heirloom tomatoes. I have had many dishes at the common pub, but this one was my favorite. The scallops were large, tender, and beautifully seared. The corn puree was not overly smoky but full of flavor, and the bacon added the flavor only bacon can. Best of all, this huge dish was $26. That is expensive for the Common Pub, but this dish would have been much more expensive anywhere else. If you haven't tried it yet, you are truly missing out.

The menu said the burger is 11.99 and comes with cheese, but it was rung up as 13.99 plus 50 cents for cheese. (This is the case with both the online menu and the IRL menu.) They have a few games going on the TVs. There's a pool table in the back as well. Service was slow (I think they might be understaffed?) but the waitress was very friendly! TLDR come here if you want to hang, not if you want a quick bite/are in a rush

The drink menu was not very extensive. Our Asian salad cups appetizer tasted exactly like an Asian salad mix I've bought at the grocery store and looked like it too - I'm convinced that's exactly how they prepared this. My veggie burger had burnt edges and wasn't too enjoyable flavor-wise. It didn't help my overall impression that when I got takeout here another time, they totally butchered my boyfriend's name when we ordered over the phone, and we had a hard time picking up our order because of this (how you get "Stephanie" from "Anthony," I just really don't know). I think this place just gets lucky having a good location across from Independence Park and being close to but just out of the way from downtown. Can't say I was impressed by the food - there are too many other good options in Bristol, I just can't say I'd recommend this to others. Perhaps it's improved since I visited, but it's a pass for me based on experiences I've had.

I was expecting it to be a dive (I do love a good dive bar!), but Stingy Alley is beautiful and classy, with an amazing cocktail menu and small bites as well. There are many different types of seating - bar, high top tables, benches, regular tables, and a cute and comfy corner booth with throw pillows, which is where we opted to sit. Service was excellent. I was expecting to have to order at the bar, but Stingy Alley has table service. My husband ordered the espresso martini and I went with the Dubai chocolate martini. Both were outstanding - I could easily have tried a few more of the dessert cocktails, but alas we had a 40 minute drive home so that will have to wait for another visit.
