This is a wonderful little Thai restaurant in a shopping strip in diamond bar. The restaurant is not very big so be prepared to share tables if needed for instance we were a party of four and we shared a table with another party of four. The staff is really nice and very helpful as well and the food comes out pretty quickly. When you arrive, there is an iPad that you can add your name to the Yelp waitlist. I'm sure you can add your name to Yelp's waitlist online, but when we went, we were unable to do so. They close at 9:30 and we arrived at 8 so we had to do it at the restaurant. We didn't wait long at all. Our dishes were really good. The Pad See Ew was excellent and the green curry was just the right taste of flavor and spicy. We ordered medium (3) level of spice. Excellent good and my new favorite Thai restaurant in my area. read more

Yesterday, I went it just about 12noon. Place was packed!!! Short wait but so worth it. I got woo sen (glass noodles with veggies) and asked for extra cabbage! - It was phenomenal - So many fresh veggies!!!! - I was kind of getting full but it was so good I had to finish - They have some kind of pickled or dried garlic that infuses the dish with a vibrant garlic undertone that is strong but not heavy handed Hot jasmine tea served in a mug. Delish. Nice quality. Service was superb. They really have a great team. So many people came to make sure I was doing well, refilled water, hot tea, etc. While checking out they noticed I had earned enough points for a free Thai Tea. - Let me tell you it is BEST IN CLASS THAI TEA! - So flavorful, well balanced and not too sweet - It is seriously authentic in taste - They are not cutting corners LOVE THIS PLACE! We've been coming to this restaurant for many years, which made tonight's experience especially disappointing. When taking our order, our server strongly recommended the soft-shell crab several times, which we ultimately declined. After that, she never checked on our table throughout the meal. What made it particularly noticeable was watching her check on the table right next to us while standing with her back toward us, without acknowledging our table at all. At one point, both my husband's and my water glasses were less than half full, so I asked for a refill. She refilled only mine without asking anyone else at our table if they needed water, then walked directly to another table and offered them water. I had to ask her again specifically to refill my husband's glass. We also found the food service awkward, as several dishes were placed directly between my husband and me despite plenty of open space at both ends of the table. We cannot know whether declining the soft-shell crab affected the service, but given the timing and the noticeably different level of attention shown to surrounding tables, it certainly left that impression. We ultimately left no tip and shared our concerns directly with the manager on duty. As longtime customers, we sincerely hope this was an isolated experience because it was far below the level of hospitality we have experienced here over the years. read more

Went here for lunch today and it was honestly the most expensive lunch I've ever had. The total was $121 for 3 people, and that's not even including the tip. It felt pretty excessive for what we received. The food was okay, but nothing special. The service was good, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the quality and overall experience didn't justify the price. For that reason, I wouldn't return. read more

First time coming to Basil and Company, we came in at 2pm and figured it wouldn't be busy-- that was not true at all - almost every table was full when we arrived and still full when we left (despite them turning over many tables). I got the Tom Kha with chicken which was sooo sour and so good (to me). It was perfectly flavored sour and salt wise and the oyster mushrooms was something new to me being in the soup, but they absorbed the flavor of the soup very well. My pumpkin curry although it was very very mild still packed a slight heat kick. Their pumpkin is very sweet and the sweetness transferred into the curry itself along with the orange color. Perfect thickness in the curry sauce itself and the flavors went well with the fried tofu, onions and pumpkin. I also appreciated they had the option for brown rice (great texture and paired well with the curry). My husband got the garlic pepper beef and he loved it. I had him add some curry sauce with his broccoli and he enjoyed the pairing. Very satisfied with our first visit, I'm only sad I forgot to get the sweet coconut rice and mango. read more

Met up with a friend who lives in the IE and chose this place as our halfway point. Glad I did. What a wonderful little gem in DB! Love the lighting outside to decorate and set the tone walking up to this place. Service was on point. Fast and friendly, coming in on a Wednesday at 6pm, it was already pretty packed. It was 95 degrees out so I sat down and got Thai Tea immediately, although the mint mojito was quietly calling my name. Maybe next time. We ordered to share the crying tiger and the mango catfish, both mild because I don't do spicy. The crying tiger still came out with a bit of a kick so you can tell this place is authentic. My friend asked to sample two of their wines, which our server did, suggesting the mango catfish to pair. Our meal was delicious and came out hot. I had an egg roll from the appetizer he ordered while waiting for me to get there and it was crispy and delicious, even after cooling off. Parking I can see being difficult, as I literally got there and luckily found the last available spot in that strip mall. There were still people coming in when we got out hours later. Definitely recommend this place for the food but more importantly, amazing service. read more

Long term customer here, I am still inside the restaurant while writing this. I was really disappointed with the pineapple fried rice. It was extremely bland and honestly tasted like plain white rice with a little bit of color added. There was barely any seasoning or flavor, and it definitely wasn't what I expected from a pineapple fried rice. What made the experience even worse was the staff's attitude when we politely shared our feedback. Instead of listening or trying to address the issue, they came across as dismissive and unfriendly, which left a bad impression. Good customer service can often make up for a disappointing dish, but unfortunately that wasn't the case here. Based on both the food and the way our feedback was handled, I won't be returning. read more

It's rare to find a Thai spot where everyone in the family has their own favorite dish and everything consistently comes out good. So far every dish we've tried has been solid. Flavors are bold, ingredients taste fresh, and the portions are generous without feeling heavy. It's the kind of place where you start ordering your usuals but still end up adding one more thing to the table because you know it's going to be good. The restaurant gets pretty busy on weekends, which isn't surprising once you try the food, so making a reservation on Yelp ahead of time is definitely the move. Very delicious, nicely seasoned dishes! This place serves both Thai and Vietnamese food. 5 of us met for lunch today, and ordered a variety of different items from the Thai menu. I had an excellent rendition of braised duck noodle soup, and also sampled the spicy catfish and basil eggplant. All very good. Prices for most dishes range from about $16 to $22. The restaurant itself was lovely, very busy, all tables full. Great, speedy service. As in many Vietnamese restos, dishes were served as they were ready, so not all 5 of us were served at the same time, but that was OK with us. Clean attractive restrooms, too. Recommended. We chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday lunch with a party of six, and unfortunately the experience started off very poorly. Two of us arrived first and were seated while waiting for the other four members of our group, who were delayed by traffic and expected to arrive within about 10 minutes. Instead of showing any understanding, the waiter rudely informed us that if the rest of our party did not arrive within five minutes, we would have to leave the table and wait outside. This happened on a very hot afternoon, and being told to stand outside after already being seated was both embarrassing and frustrating. A little courtesy and flexibility would have gone a long way, especially since we were there to celebrate a special occasion and our full party was arriving shortly. To make matters worse, the food did not make up for the poor service. The dishes were average at best and lacked the quality and flavor we expected based on the reviews. Customer service is just as important as the food, and unfortunately this restaurant failed on both counts. We left disappointed and certainly won't be returning. read more

What a pleasant surprise. Tucked into an otherwise inconspicuous strip mall, next to a preschool is this lovely Thai place. They have another one opening in Azusa this week as well. I see why! Our party of 11 was seated right as we all arrived. The wait staff was prompt in getting our order in (90 minutes limit to eat) so our food was ready very promptly as well. We got drunken noodles , soft she'll crab papaya salad, beef and garlic, etc. all of the dishes met or exceeded our expectations. I got their Kra Pow with fried egg over rice and ordered it spicy (you can choose your spice level). It wasn't too spicy for me personally and was tasty. I'd definitely come back here on my next trip to LA (maybe ask for it to be spicier). Good Kra Pow is hard to find, especially with minced chicken. I arrived around 2pm and it was still very busy. Stopped by Basil & Co. for lunch on a Friday, and it was a great experience. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and the food was excellent. We ordered the crab papaya salad and Pad Thai, and both were outstanding. The papaya salad was fresh and flavorful, and the Pad Thai was honestly one of the best I've had--perfectly balanced and delicious. Our server, Dee, was attentive, friendly, and always had a great smile, which made the experience even better. Very bad service. Do not go there with large group of 6 or more. They give priority to small party first. I saw a lot of smaller party that come behind us get their table first even though they have a table for 6 ready. They rather give it to table of 2 before serving you even though you signed in before the smaller group. Came in for dinner and the place was packed, wait time for a table wasn't too long, and was quickly seated in one of the table booths. Ordered Pad Thai, Crab fried rice, and the chicken skewers. The appetizers came out fairly quickly, but the orders for the entrees was a a long wait. I flagged down the restaurant manager and asked about the entrees; his professional, friendly and polite apology made the wait a bit easier to swallow. Manager told us the food is just about ready and quickly ran inside the back kitchen to get our dishes ready. The entrees came out piping hot; I really liked their Pad Thai (just the right amount of tangy and sweet), while the crab fried rice tasted okay~didn't really standout. Great Thai spot! In an area where it's predominantly Chinese cuisine, this spot was pretty good. Not sure if it's worth the hour wait, but the food was pretty good overall. We ordered the Pad Thai (w/ pork & extra peanut), Pad See Ew (w/ chicken), Yellow Pumpkin Curry, & Crab Fried Rice. Yellow Pumpkin Curry seemed more on the liquidy side, but the flavor was impeccable - definitely recommend! The pad thai and pad see ew were also decent, but nothing to particularly rave about. As for the crab fried rice, I was a bit disappointed in how there wasn't much crab in it compared to other places I've been; nevertheless, still good dish. What a treat! My family came here to eat lunch today and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The food was delicious, the service was on top of it, and overall the dining experience was just perfect. It's such a nice and clean location and we were really pleased with everything. We ordered so many dishes that I didn't get time to take pictures of everything but I would highly recommend you try everything because literally all the dishes we ordered were so good. Crab fried rice 5/5 : - super crabby, perfectly fluffy yet dry, very well seasoned, what's not to love? I don't get out to this area often for lunch, but when I'm in the area Basil & co is a must! It's no surprise they are so busy! Tried an assortment of items today: - appetizers calamari and shumai both delicious starters - beef salad and papaya salad with crab so refreshing on a warm day - shrimp pad Thai, shrimp drunken noodles, spicy basil chicken with soft tofu all amazing flavors and good portions - dessert mango sticky rice is always my favorite! One of my favorite restaurants. Thrilled to hear they are opening another location in Azusa, will definitely be there for their grand opening! Hi Yelpers, my name is Calvin and my wife is Air. We have both worked in the restaurant world for more than 12 years. We have been working hard, learning and gaining as much experience as we can to one day open up our own restaurant. We strive to provide delicious Asian Soul Food to the community of idiamond bar. We created this restaurant for friends and family to meet up, enjoy some delicious food and drinks together, while catching up in a chill, cool, and cozy place. There's a giant projector screen that comes down along the wall with a projector and LED lighting throughout. I asked and they said they can do karaoke, and they also played World Cup games on it. There are several TVs playing various sports as well. Pan-fried pork buns - 10/10 This was my first time ever having them pan-fried and I'm glad I listened to the waiter's suggestion. The dipping sauce elevated the dish and brought it full circle. Being pan-fried gave them a slight crisp that was perfect. Shumai - 10/10 Just delicious. Crystal shrimp dumplings - 10/10 These were made fresh. I've had these at other dim sum places and it's been hit or miss--sometimes soggy, sometimes the wrapper is hard. That wasn't the case here at all. Perfection wrapped around shrimp. Xiao long bao - 10/10 I've had dumplings at places like Din Tai Fung, and I honestly believe these are better. The broth inside was bursting with flavor and the exterior was fresh and made perfectly. I'll be dreaming of these. Cartoon sweet custard buns - 9/10 These were delicious and so cute. The only thing I would have changed is giving the inside a bit more custard (personal preference--some people might think the balance is perfect). The rest of the bao was cooked perfectly, so soft, and the design made the experience that much more memorable. I highly recommend eating here. This is going to be one of our regular spots from now on.

Not a problem, the lunch menu was equally enticing. A 2-course offering for $25. I started with the Thai Prawn Ceviche. This course was wonderfully balanced, not too acidic, also a nice touch of sweetness and plump flavorful prawns. For the main, my selection was the Beef Truffle Wok-Seared Noodles. I was delighted that they were round noodles and they arrived at my table stirred in a dark sauce with sliced beef pieces on top. A small porcelain decanter was also supplied, containing the truffle oil. I poured it over my noodles. The beef was tender, moist and could be cut with the usual provided table knife. The whole dish was a winner, from start to finish. Service here, as expected, was well executed. Need to be aware of the parking though. There is a public garage around the corner that is advertised for this establishment and a few others. Problem is, that Star Leaf validates only for 1-hour, while their neighbors do so, for 2-hours. I addressed this issue with the manager at my last visit and this time too. The answer I got was not convincing to suggest that they care, or will do something about it, anytime soon. Oh well.

I did some reading on the reviews of this place and I have to say that a lot of the more critical reviews were more about how they were understaffed, which is understandable (at least on my end) because everyone in this area is getting sick. I understand that the food is not for everyone but I have been to a lot of Thai food places in Diamond Bar and even the expensive ones for a fancy dinner, but nothing compares to Basil and Co. First of all-- the food is amazing. I am not going to lie, I always thought Thai food wasn't for me. But Basil and Co. has really opened up my flavor pallet towards Thai food. There is another Thai place in Diamond Bar, I am pretty sure less than a 5 minutes away from Basil and Co., but when me and my family went there they tried to charge us for Thai chilies, the service was horrible, the tables were lazily cleaned, etc. Some of my teachers, my friends, my family who don't even live in Diamond Bar, all go to Basil and Co. I personally get the Tom Yum Soup there. They give you really big servings. My parents get the papaya salad and pineapple fried rice and they love it. We have been coming here for a year now, even before the new construction. And food never changes. I personally don't get spicy in my food but my parents absolutely love spice. They will drown their food in Thai chilies and they will want more. They are satisfied with the spicy level here. I personally can't handle spice. So if you are a mild person like me, they have that option too! The service is amazing! The owners and the nicest most sweetest people alive and they even gave me a shirt! They are open to having new friendships with their customers and I love that about them. Also they have the most nicest waiters. Jade and Ray and seriously the most nicest people, but they also do their job just right. I am aware that there are more workers there but I have personally not met them, only Jade and Ray. When ordering to go, they put the food in nice, reusable containers and they write a "thank you" message on it which is just so adorable. They package everything very secure. I have never experienced a leak or anything unless it was my fault haha. The atmosphere of the place is so soothing and relaxing. It's very modern and aesthetically pleasing. But not the type of modern where it makes you feel like it's too basic.. it's cozy and warm as well. They decorate for holidays as well. My personal favorite is when they decorate for Christmas. It feels very homey. The outside is very welcoming. There are chairs in case of a wait and decorates as well as a board. There are free stickers and candy at the cashier as well. Overall, I have always loved my experience here at Basil and Co. I have never come across a day where they were "lacking". It's always been consistent pleasurable service here. I first went to this place and had a good experience. Today, when trying to book a reservation for my birthday, they were being very accommodating. However, they weren't letting us book for a specific time we wanted so they asked us to choose either 730 or 8 PM, after 10 minutes of trying to find a time that worked we settled on 8 PM and made the reservation. When we show up to our reservation five minutes before, they tell us they gave up our table and that our booking was for the original time that we wanted at 7:45. We argue that it's OK that they had to give up the table because we weren't there at the time, but it's not right that they're making us wait at the back of the line after giving up our table after they told us to come at a different time than the one they Assigned. Mistakes can happen, the attitude received by the person working the host stand was not welcome, she was very rude and accusatory. I use the term 'he' when trying to describe who my family spoke with when booking the original reservation. Since I wasn't on the phone, I didn't know the gender of the person, and she started getting mad at me because apparently there were all girls working that day. I looked up and I saw five men working. We weren't gonna settle for this kind of service so we made the easy decision to leave, but not before I wanted to speak to the manager. The host, who might've lied told me she was the manager, so I respectfully complained. And rather than even bother to listen or provide any appropriate customer service, we were shut down and not heard. I was rooting for this place, as it's look and feel originally was an exciting place to bring to the vibrant small town community we have built in Diamond Bar. I am disappointed to stop my support, but any business who employs someone like that, especially in management, does not have my trust nor respect. The owner must have a change of management and customer approach. Consistency in respectful service and a proper approach to seating and a management is what this place needs for the rest of our friends in this community to not hear only poor reviews. Any plans our friends and family have for this place in the future are canceled. Please contact if you want any recommendations for Thai places with amazing service and food, that'll make you forget of this place. Oh, where do I even begin? Let me tell you about the absolute joy I experienced during my recent visit to my all-time favorite Thai restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere that now fills the entire space. i booked a graduation lunch just this pass sunday for our group of 18. i made reservations a few weeks ago and was confirmed. They even called the day of to make sure we were coming. When we arrived the table wasn't ready for about 20 minutes. Then when we were seated there wasn't enough to seat 18. About 5 seats missing, so my guest had to stand. i asked if we can add another table and the waitress (short hair with glasses) gave me attitude and said i had to wait. This was ridiculous because a reservation was made and confirmed. Don't book it and give the table away if a large party is expected. Service was horrible, that main waitress was extremely rude. We picked that restaurant because we had been there a few times and food was good. I finally got around to eating at this restaurant with some friends on Sunday night after having it bookmarked for some time. A Japanese teppan restaurant shares the site, making it very convenient for its customers. I did not anticipate a wait when I arrived at 6 o'clock in the evening, therefore I did not make a reservation in advance. It was freezing outdoors, so when our time came around, we wanted to stay inside the restaurant. However, we were informed that we had to wait outside till our turn came. A wise move that allowed us to sample more meals was to order a few things and share them family style when we took our seats. I got a papaya salad, some free curry chicken, larb, mango trout, crab fried rice, spicy eggplant, and mango sticky rice. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast my food arrived. The flavor was superb. There were leftovers since the five of us had a hard time eating everything. The sticky rice with mango was equally tasty, thanks to the sweetness of the mango. Came in with my family and let me tell you the food has its own flavor and it's way better than anything I've had before! Service is very good even tho they were busy for a Monday night they managed to make sure we weren't missing anything our water cups were always full. Food came quick . One thing I did notice and appreciate was how the staff works together to help each other you could ask any one of the staff and they didn't hesitate to help we didn't have to worry about getting our specific server always a smile on their face and friendly with everyone. We ordered the mixed sashimi, chirashi bowl, garlic edamame, and finished with the roasted green tea ice cream. Everything tasted super fresh and the portions were really satisfying too. The garlic edamame was such a good addition to the meal and paired surprisingly well with all of the sashimi. The sashimi was definitely the highlight for us. Our favorite cuts were the toro, salmon, and yellowtail. They were buttery, fresh, and you could really taste the quality of the fish in every bite. The chirashi bowl was also generous and came with a nice variety of fish. Another nice touch was that the entrees came with salad and miso soup, which made the meal feel even more complete. To finish everything off, we got the roasted green tea ice cream and it was such a delicious way to end the meal. The interior was also really cozy and made the whole experience feel even better. Overall, such a solid sushi spot and definitely one I'd come back to if I'm in the area again.
