Not only are the ingredients in the roll refreshing and crisp, but the additional "fresh" sauce they include in addition to the traditional peanut sauce is out of this world. A garlic-oil sauce topped with crushed peanuts is a perfect pairing with the regular peanut sauce and the bright fresh rolls. Although it is an appetizer, this is often my go-to meal when I want to have a lighter, healthier dinner. 10/10 recommend! The pad Thai with chicken is my go-to entree. I've been ordering here for years, so I can't speak for the service in house but they've always been pleasant over the phone, For deliveries, and when I've gone in to pickup. I always get some version of the fried rice and cream cheese wantons, and it's always delicious. Fresh, full of flavor. I appreciate the simplicity of the wantons (literally just cream cheese) as I personally am not a fan of other places and their additions inside. The Thai Bistro is a decent little Thai place on the corner of Navajo. For what I ordered, it was relatively overpriced and ordinary. Nothing too impressive. My only real issue is when I place a to-go order, and you hand me a tied up grocery bag containing my order, I expect there to be a napkin and utensils inside. I especially expect this if I give you a tip for simply taking my order, and not actually providing a service. This place is hit and miss. The dishes are usually very good, the issue is more with the quality of service and overall wait time. They seem to be better when the place is dead. If it's even partially busy they don't know what to do. Tables stay dirty, the phone isn't answered, customers are ignored. If you are ordering for pick up or delivery, your best bet is to call and ask how busy it is. Grubhub may quote 30 minutes, but in reality it's going to be over an hour. Oh where do I start? Before we even came in, we called ahead of time to see how long the lunch special went until. It was currently 3:45 and we wanted to make it on time. The lady said we would be fine. We got inside ten minutes before 4 and asked about the lunch specials. The lady then informs us that lunch specials ended at 3. We then told her that someone told us something different and so she spoke to the woman who answered the phone. She then came back, apologized, and told us that she would honor the lunch special because we were given the wrong information. We ordered our food and figured it would come quickly. We were the only people in the restaurant; before, during, and after our meal. It still took us over 30 minutes to get our meal, plus I was given no utensils or condiments when my food came out. I then informed the waitress that they had accidentally given me a lunch size entree and I corrected them that I had ordered from the dinner menu. (Which I did, my man had ordered off the lunch menu). The waitress then tells me that that what I have in front of me is in fact the dinner size and that the lunch size is half of that. I was completely blown away. If they had cut that portion in half it would have been enough to feed a four year old. That's about it. Food was very tasty and prices are reasonable. I got the pad Thai combo and was hoping for a combo meat dish but didn't see that option so i went with chicken. I am little disappointed though because after I checked in on Yelp I got a "Yelpers lunch deal" for 6.99 and they refused to honor it saying "oh that's only good Monday through Thursday". I didn't expect such a cute place in a strip mall. We were a group of three on a Saturday night around 9, and were the only ones there. We were promptly greeted and chose our seats. The decor is nice - crisp and clean with white table cloths and sheer white curtains semi-dividing the banquets. They have this delicious sweet plum wine, which had nice cherry-almond notes. Our waiter was nice enough to offer us a small sample before we committed to a glass each. We started with the sampler - a combination of cream cheese wontons (they were good, although I'm not sure how authentic a dish that is), winter shrimp (fried rice-paper covered shrimp), spring rolls and satay chicken. A few sauces accompanied our appetizers, including a peanut-type sauce and a sweet vinegar based sauce with celery and red peppers. The presentation of the dishes was nice - I had the red curry with duck, which was good, but lacked a little oomph. I work across the street and have always seen this when im sitting at the stop light, but have always been loyal to Sab e Lee in Santee.. Today I was feeling a cold coming on so I decided to stop by and grab a bowl of Tom Yum Soup. I was pleasantly surprised at the nice warm decor and how clean it was. The young lady at the register was really friendly, spoke clear english and answered all my questions regarding lunch and soups. She was attentive although I wasn't a sit down guest she offered me water and a seat. She informed me she was adding extra chili flakes in a cup for me incase I wanted my soup spicier. Awesome! The food was good, the soup was a bit too sweet for me even after adding the extra flakes. I love the lemongrass taste and I couldn't taste it too much on this soup. The chicken was generously spooned in there. So thats a plus. Rice was good, cooked just right. Why not give more so there's enough sauce for my satay or give a 2nd one for free or charge a token amount if you must instead of requiring a larger container for $2. On my way home from working out and decided to drop in for some take out. It's hard to find a good Thai restaurant in East County. I ordered my go to Panag Curry and it had great flavor and I can't do spicy so I was happy it wasn't spicy at all. It's always interesting to see what veggies they use. Every restaurant is different. I thought it was a little heavy in the onions even though it tasted good. They had the standard red and green bell peppers and they also had tomato. I asked for brown rice and it was a basmati rice.
