Craving Thai food so I turn to yelp for choices in the sgv. I was lured to this restaurant for it's reviews and the proximity from where I was coming from. I love hole in the wall establishments so it was an easy choice. Located in a strip mall with a sign that is hard to see, and parking spaces made for golf carts, I finally find a parking space that will spare my car from sure dentage. As i get out of the car, I notice a half naked bum riding a bike and a subway employee rolling a joint in plain view. Good times. Anyway let's get to the food. What can I say....not bad but not great. Didn't care much for their beef dishes but I would definitely recommend their noodle dishes like their pad thai and pad see eu. First off, one nice thing about this place is that if you work in the area, you can go in, get your food, eat, and be back at work all within 30 minutes. Can't beat that. While there are a couple other Thai places around, Basil definitely takes the cake as far as value is concerned. I only go here for lunch, and I've only had their lunch buffet, so I can't comment on their dinner or dishes that aren't part of the lunch buffet. The buffet typically consists of Fried Bananas, Pad Thai, a broth based soup, stir fried vegetables, Pad See Ew, Spring Rolls, Chicken Curry, and Fried Chicken. Everything is made FRESH! Basil is one of my favorite Thai places in the area. Order the Pad Prik King and Tom Yum Gai soup. Soooooo good! I also love their Pad See Ew (sp?). Food here is really good and a bit unlike other Thai restaurants I've been to. Their pad kraw pow had a bunch of other veggies in it like squash, pumpkin, and bamboo on top of the bell peppers, onion and basil it traditionally comes with. Good quality food considering it only costs $6.31 for a 2 item combination plate. Unfortunately you are limited to what you can order for the lunch special to what they have already pre made. My only complaints are that I asked for a side of lemon and I was denied because,according to the owner, my pad thai was lemony enough. I guess she knows better than me how much lemon I like on my food. I also asked for a side of chili sauce and got a very small amount, I didn't even want to try asking for more at this point. In conclusion: Food - Good tasting and good quality for only being $6.31 for the Lunch Special Service - Owners are very nice to talk to but I don't like how they were stingy with their sides I will definitely come back to this place again at sometime. read more

He is also the most gregarious person on this side of the planet, hugging all his regulars and calling them by name. I've been coming here for a long time, and its one of the best places I've found for traditional Thai food. It reminds me of what I've had in Sattahip or Laem Chabang. The chef does a good job of balancing flavors and creates savory dishes where you can taste each ingredient. It is unlike American Thai food where everything is overly sweet or the ingredients get lost due to the flavor of the sauces and spice. They also are one of the few places I've had that can balance heat while still keeping flavor in tact. Most places either don't get it spicy enough, or the spice over powers the other ingredients. My usual go to dishes are the crying tiger, yellow chicken curry, or the tom kha kai. Everyone there is also super friendly and get to know you pretty quickly. The price is good for the quality of the food. If you are after fast food style thai food there are plenty of other places that cater that. If you want traditional tasting thai food, this is the place to go. read more
