It looks like a small mom pop place. There was also a Chinese restaurant here and a Taiwanese restaurant. The Chinese restaurant looked empty and we wondered why. Was never much of a fan of Taiwanese, went to a restaurant in Ontario Canada once and I got a little sick after eating there, and 2nd try diff Taiwanese same issue, I guess I'm allergic to the cooking oil who knows. I also had a bad dating experience in that Taiwanese Restaurant enough where I thought I was on candid camera lol. So anyway we skipped those two places and went here, looks to be a small mom and pop and authentic Thai cooking, the food was fresh, rice as in a lot of Thai restaurants was sold separately. I had the pad thai w shrimp, the shrimp was huge but good, stirring the plate it got better and better as they present it unmixed. Loved the glasses the soda came in, and the tea was nice too. Husband (chef) and Wife (server) team. How do I know? because my coworker asked... HAHA They are so sweet and always treat you as if you came to their "home" to eat. They constantly ask if the food was to your liking and the chef will always come out personally to ask how you liked your dish. They have a lunch buffet which is like $6 something. It's inexpensive because a majority of the dishes at the buffet contain no meat. It's not bad, but I usually order from the menu. Soups are good, beef salad and pad thai. They also have vegetarian dishes like the eggplant & tofu dish (spicy). NOTE: The Mango & sticky rice dessert is awesome!! The best I've had by far.... Too bad mangoes aren't really in season, they didn't have it the last time we ate here. read more

I have been living in the area for 3 years and finally decided to give this place a try. I figured ordering lunch wouldn't be too bad because at least some of the dishes were cheaper. I regret ever trying this place. I ordered a Tom Yum Noodle soup, lettuce cups, and a Tom Yum soup for my husband. First, the to-go containers are a flimsy plastic that barely holds its shape. They are not microwaveable, that's how cheap it was. .. even Styrofoam is microwavable. The Tom Yum was a large order, but the container was barely filled a little over half. There were literally a few slices of mushroom and some bits of diced chicken thigh in it AND it tasted watered down. The lettuce cups was pricey for the amount. Normally we wouldn't add hoisin sauce, but all we could taste was salt....and sadly it came with 2 packets of soy sauce and chili. What a waste of money. Something that I didn't see before with the old owners. And that was CUSTOMERS! I had to do a double take. And while doing a double take I noticed a very big yellow sign that said Lunch Special Thai Boat Noodles! With me being a big sucker for noodles and an even bigger sucker of Thai boat noodle I was absolutely elated to try this place another day for lunch. And try this place I did. Sadly they didn't deliver. I don't know if I had too high of an expectation seeing as this place is no longer a ghost town. Just that this is NOT how thai boat noodle is suppose to taste like. I've gotten it at so many places and most taste generically the same. Yet this place had such clear soup base not this deep dark brown rich soup I'm used to seeing for this dish. They definitely don't sting out on the meat but where is the tripe? Liver? Where are the many other things normally in a thai boat noodle but is missing from this one. Woe is me, for being a sucker for noodles. But it was good, different but good. Sorry I just can't give this place a better rating because this was unexpected. Maybe, if I do decide to give this place another try the rating may go up, but next time IF i do try this place again and that is a HUGE IF. I'm most definitely NOT getting their thai boat noodle. But it's very crowded during dining hours since the plaza has an abundance cafes and restaurants. Service was friendly, but on the slow side. It wouldn't be ideal for a work lunch. Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) was fragrant, but a little to greasy for my liking. You can request for condiments and there are four choices: pickled green chili slices, sambal hot sauce, red chili oil sauce and soy sauce. When there's no fish sauce or limes, it feels less authentic. Servers don't automatically come to your table with the bill. You have to get up and pay them. read more

Despite the lack of other customers, service was slow and inattentive. It was eerily quiet and there was no music playing, just a television that we couldn't even see from our table. My friend hadn't had thai before, and ordered the won ton appetizer and pad thai. I tried both and they were greasy and the flavors unbalanced. Needless to say, he didn't really like the entree, although he seemed satisfied with the appetizer. The first thing we had was the "golden sack" This is a MUST!!! I took pictures and posted them on instagram instantly! I have never seen anything like it before and they were so delicious! served with a sweet sauce that was also addictive. We also tried the satay which were like chicken skewers with a peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Usually I'm hesitant to eat skewers since they might be fatty, but these were immediately eaten up without an ounce left on the stick. FInally for main entree I had the Pad-Kra-Prow ( yes I had to ask the owner for a take-out menu cause there is no way I would be able to memorize what we ordered) It was also amazing! Best thing is you can ask for the spicy level you prefer, I chose 3 out of 5 to be on the safe side and it was perfect, little runny nose and all :) Finally! We were told to try the Thai Tea. An angry guy came out from this restaurant, who claimed he owned the placed, approached to people in the parking lot and on the sidewalk. Yelled at people to keep social distance when everyone's already keeping social distancing while waiting for the take out food from next door. If you're not happy with something, you should talk to the staff of the restaurant . You can give suggestion to that restaurant too in a nice way. You can also file a complaint to the management of the plazas instead of yelling at customers only because they're not yours. I can understand that he might be upset that people were blocking the sidewalk. But no one was blocking the door of his restaurant. There's plenty space for customers to go to this restaurant to order or pick up food. read more

This is my new favorite joint for Thai food. The quality and taste is delish! In terms of taste and flavor, this place beats out President Thai, Saladang/Song, and Orchid Thai. It's a small family-run restaurant and they make sure you walk out the door happy campers. The Chef greets patrons after after the food is served. Now I call that building relationships = great customer service! Although their portions are quite small for noodles and rice dishes, it's tasty stuff that curbs your portions anyway. As Americans, I think we're used to large plates of food, so this is a good way to get tasty flavorful quality food without the added calories. Also, note that I believe there are only about 4 tables and bar seating. Apparently they offer lunch buffets on weekdays only for a small price. I live in the neighborhood and always wanted to support the local restaurant industry. I waited awhile for the waitress to take my order. I ordered water and cashew beef ($1 extra charge for beef). I asked for green chili and fish sauce, I was told they don't have it... right! The beef quantity and quality are marginal at best but very generous with carrots and onions though. The fried won tons (sans fillings) were soggy and bla but did fill up the empty space on the plate. I never got the ice water to wash it all down! I don't know what the rad is with this place. Upon seeing the 4 stars review, I thought I'd give it a shot so I placed a large order for delivery at 7:55 pm. Yelp informed they'll be here 8:55 pm. But at 9:15, there was no word of anything, so I tried to call them, but apparently, they cut off phone connections after 9. I couldn't call them, so I drove over which was about a 5 minute drive. As I walked in, there was no customers except for a couple in the corner. And I explained to the lady at the counter how the food hasn't arrived, and that I was unable to call them, & that it just kept showing "busy". The lady hastily responded, "the driver left already". This was at 9:25. So I figured I missed the driver when he was on the way as my friend called me on the phone saying the food finally came. But as I got home, I was utterly disappointed. The crying tiger was so cold, a polar bear could probably live on it. The pork bbq ribs too. What I can't comprehend is how they took 1:30 hours for this order. So I went back to the store and told her how the food is cold. She first defensively responded that they were "busy", so I pointed out how her restaurant is EMPTY! But you could definitely see how "understaffed" they were. They weren't busy. I saw dirty, eaten plates lying all over the restaurant tables, assuming there was no one to clean it up. Then the lady continued saying she will make the entire order for me so I sat there like a fool waiting and wasting another 10 mins. God knows what she was doing behind in the kitchen for a good 10 min, but she came out with a phone (probably calling her boss about my situation) and rudely tells me she will refund the $42 and won't cook the new order anymore. (Oh, I paid $56 btw.) So I wasted 2 hours with this place, and I still have no edible food. So I simply left, and am now sharing this horrible experience. What a joke. Never again! And I hope no future customers have to go through what I had to with this trashy delivery/customer service. And screw you for acting almighty rather than apologetic, especially when you know you guys fucked up hard. Smh-the ego. read more

I always come here and I love this place. The lunch buffet is pretty cheap (price-wise) and they're always constantly cooking and refilling the food so you know it's fresh. The buffet is 11AM to 2PM I think. I really love the fried chicken, noodles and fried rice! Sooo good! For dinner, the menus has a lot of great items. The Pad Thai, Chicken with Eggplant (I also add Tofu), Fried Rice, Brown Rice, Tom Yum Gai, Mango dessert, and Curry are all so good! Great friendly service also. Place is in a strip-mall and has several other choices to have but if you are looking for a quiet place for lunch or dinner then you can't go wrong stopping in here. I mainly get my spicy level at a medium and it just right, not to hot to be an issue but also enough bite to know that you are having something spicy! This place is great! I love how fresh the ingredients are and generous the portions are. I would definitely recommend their pork with eggplant along with their pad kee mao. Some places cook the veggies INTO the dish and leaves you wondering if you're just eating one big glob. But not here! I came here given the 4 star rating on yelp. We were so disappointed and will never be back. The dreary decor and mostly empty tables on a Saturday night should have tipped us off, but i trust Yelp so we still wanted to try it. The first thing I noticed was a strong Windex odor. Hmmm... not appetizing to say the least. My bench seat was hard, slanted upwards into my thighs, and uncomfortable. The server was friendly which earned them an extra star. Chicken Satay- way too salty. Pad-kra-prow shrimp was very salty also. The only edible item was the wonton noodle soup. We eat a lot of Thai and this could have easily been one of the worst tasting Thai restaurants we have been to. I'm home now and my mouth still has a horrendous salty aftertaste. Upon further investigation, another Yelper said this place USE TO BE good and apparently ownership changed... sigh... When ownership changes, yelp should delete all the old reviews so a 4 star review does not get handed to a 1 star new owner. If you want good Thai food, go to President Thai on Rosemead. read more
