    Green Curry
    Brian H.

I tried the green curry. It was excellent. So good. It's definitely homemade. Flavor is great. Lots of chicken and veggies inside. Really nice ambiance and atmosphere inside. Service is good. Nice server. Seems like they do a lot of phone orders. I'll be back to try other curries.

Been coming here for quite some time now, around 2 years and the food has always been really great. The papaya salad is some of the best in this area so you def need to try it. I ordered the yellow curry tonight with chicken and it was super tasty and the portion was big as well. The squid salad was very tangy and had great flavor. I love how they use a lot of sauce for their salads with intense flavor. Waitress also sanitized seating after other customers left. Will keep coming back to this place.

Still trying to maintain their low price for lunch or dinner. Good Thai food..welcoming customer service. Just hope they hold onto the price despite everybody is going up. Best price in town!

The restaurant is located inside a plaza so lots of parking. I tried the vegetable egg rolls, pineapple fried rice, boat noodle soup and deluxe noodle soup. I think it's so great they offer egg rolls in both vegetable and chicken. Personally I prefer vegetable egg rolls. All the dishes ordered were well made and delicious! Ordered takeout. Easy and fast service.

    Definately 2 thumbs up!

I have been living in Arcadia for about 13 years. I have passed by millions of times, and HAVE never stopped to eat here. My family and I LOVE Thai Food (specifically Spicy Basil w/ground Chicken). We usually drive out to East LA at one of our favorite spots. I think I will save myself a trip and continue to come here. The dish I got was ABSOLUTELY delish and they prepared it EXACTLY how I asked. Mild with ground chicken. Thank you Basil Thai Cooking for making my 1st experience here pleasant. If anyone is looking for Thai food, this place is a must try and the prices are reasonable.

    MANGO STICKY RICE

Got the usual suspects, Pad Thai with Tofu, Pad See Ew with Beef, Chicken Larb, and mango sticky rice. This place is cheaper than other Thai restaurants in the surrounding area. You get a little less, but you can tell the food is made with LOVE! DELICIOUS! You can actually taste the authenticity, not just some fast food take out. The best dish of the four, is the mango sticky rice! Mango was ripe and sweet and the rice and sauce is STICKY and SAUCY! Just the way I like it. When I go to new Thai places, I always go by how they make the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. I need to go back and try other things!

Summary: 5 stars for taste, portion, price, and service…read more *** My fiance and I visited a few times for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is brightly lit inside and usually plays classy/cozy music overhead. Service is outstanding; they are typically prompt, proactive, and friendly with water refills on point. The owner occasionally checks in on tables, banters with regulars, and talks about his recipes. They sometimes provide complimentary desserts to first-time visitors (I assume if budget allows). Food also comes out quickly. DRINKS ORDERED - Thai Iced Tea ($4.50). Served in a huge glass, the Thai tea is strong, sweet, and creamy. APPETIZERS ORDERED - Sunshine Beef Jerky ($16.95). Sooo tasty! The beef was slightly crispy and dried out, yet soft inside. The marinade was aromatic with a hint of sourness. - Chicken Satay ($15.95 - 6 pcs). Soft and juicy white meat chicken with a mild marinade that was vaguely sweet and fragrant. The peanut dipping sauce was out of this world - very peanut forward and also a little sweet. I put it on everything and even asked for a to go container for the rest! I would have liked the pickled cucumber and onion to be less sweet. - Somtom / Green Papaya Salad ($11.96 + $5 shrimp add on). We asked for spicy level 2, which made my nose run. Green papaya, green beans, carrots, peanuts, and tomato sit on top of roughly chopped iceberg lettuce. The chili lime dressing tasted spicy, sweet, salty, and sour. The shrimp was also good, juicy and plump. I only had difficulty eating the green beans, which were hard and raw. - Chicken Larb ($16.95). This dish was served as a salad instead of a wrap. It had big pieces of ground chicken on top of iceberg lettuce in a flavorful, slightly funky sauce. We got this at level 2 spicy. ENTREES/NOODLES ORDERED - Basil Eggplant with chicken thigh ($14.95). Bright purple egg plant and bell peppers stir fried with fragrant basil in a savory sauce. So good! - Pad Kee Mao / Drunken Noodles with pork ($14.95). This was a stir fry of thick rice noodle, onion, bell pepper, basil, and protein of choice. The pork was yummy with a slightly sweet taste. I liked how the vegetables were tender yet crunchy. I ordered this at level 2 spicy, but I think I could handle level 3 for noodles. - Pad Thai with tofu ($14.95). I enjoyed the chewy, thin rice noodle tossed in a sweet and sour sauce. DESSERTS ORDERED - T-Cup Coconut Cream Cake ($6.99). We received this cake in a cup as a complimentary dessert. It tasted like a dream! There were two layers each of white cake and coconut whipped cream. The sponge had a light and cottony crumb. Shredded coconut added an extra layer of texture and coconut flavor. - Mango Sticky Rice ($13.95 - seasonal Apr to Sept). I think we ordered too early in the season, since the mango was ripe but not as fragrant. The sticky rice was sweet and salty with a fluffy and chewy texture. The dish was good, but a little dry for me since it didn't come with a sauce. - T-Cup Mango Pudding ($6.99). This was also complimentary. I thought it was just okay at first, but the pudding grew on me the more I ate it. The mango pudding tasted nostalgic, like the one you get at dim sum but more real. According to the owner, the pudding is vegan, naturally sweetened, and thickened with agar agar.

The food absolutely delivered fresh, flavorful, and held up really well even as takeout. Great service, great food, and a seamless takeout experience when it could've easily gone the other way. A+

Parking is easily available on the street in front of the store or in the back. There are a few tables inside and the interior is clean. They run promos often with freebies such as Thai tea if you meet a purchase minimum. My go to orders are boat noodle, tom yum soup, curry, and crab fried rice. The boat noodle has rich flavor that I can't find anywhere else in the area. Tom yum comes with a lot of shrimp and the they don't skimp on the crab in the fried rice either. Portions are generous and I have enough leftovers for a full meal the next day. Their new item drunken spaghetti reminds me of the one I had in Thailand. Golden bags are excellent as appetizers. They're fried but not too oily and have delicious filling. Their Thai tea deserves a shoutout too. It tastes authentic and not watered down. There isn't a big sign or anything so you really have to want to look for it to find it. They just opened 7 months ago, so they're new to the area. There's plenty of parking in the back, turn right in the bigger driveway after Peacock Donuts - the first one before Peacock Donuts is uncomfortably narrow. You have to enter the restaurant from the front. Luckily my son's wheelchair baaaarely fit through the sign pole between the gas station and the building where the restaurant is so we didn't have to go all the way around. The restaurant is small with enough seating for about 15 people. The lady who worked there was super nice and constantly rearranged our plates to fit on the table (we ordered a lot of food). The menu has a lot of the standard Thai dishes, but the one thing they have there that I don't often see in other Thai restaurants I go to is Khao Soi (they spelled it Khow Soi), so I had to order it. If you've never tried it, it's egg noodles in a curry broth, with crispy egg noodles on top. The one at Thara 8 is well done and really delicious. They offer lunch specials Mon - Sat from 11 am - 3 pm that come with rice, a fried dumpling and a salad. In addition to the Khao Soi, We also got the lunch special of Pad Thai Chicken, lunch special Pumpkin Curry Shrimp, Drunken Noodle, and Tom Kah Shrimp noodle w/ thin rice noodle. Everything was really good. The pumpkin curry was great , but my favorite dish was the Khao Soi! I loved the crunchy noodle mixed with the soft noodles and the broth was so flavorful. I would've liked the drunken noodle to be spicy as I'm used to it being a spicy dish, and this was not. The Tom Kah Shrimp was a bit too coconutty for me personally. It's probably traditionally made, but I was expecting it to be more soupy/brothy rather than thick and creamy. Overall we enjoyed our meal here, come support this new local business if you're craving some Thai food!

Ever since it opened, White Springs has become a neighborhood staple, with many being regulars that stop by frequently. The food: My favorite menu item is the Tom Yum Noodle Soup where I substitute the vegan shrimp balls for tofu instead, at an extra mild spice level. It's my comfort food, for when days feel extra rough and I want a noodle soup that feels like a warm hug. My favorite appetizers are definitely the Chicken Satay (the texture is fantastic) and Spring Rolls. Over the years, I've also been able to try some of their curries, Roti, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Orange Chicken, among others. But the Tom Yum Noodle Soup is definitely my go to menu item that I'll consistently crave. Everything is always cooked with such care and is super flavorful, but still feels light and not overwhelmingly greasy. Everything else: Service is kind and I've always felt more than welcomed. During their busy hours, there might be a little of a wait, so I would advise some patience as everything is made fresh. They mostly do to go orders, so do not be deceived if there's no other folks dining with you! At this point in time, they do not have indoor dining, and have a couple tables set up outside, so it might not be suitable for a huge dinner party, if you do not provide them ample notice. Parking is plentiful on the street or behind the storefront in the lot behind.

We joined their waitlist on their tablet near their counter and we were seated within 5 minutes. Just like the other location in Rowland Heights, it's very busy on a Friday night! The restaurant overall is very clean except near the entrance due to high foot traffic. It's decorated with Chinese lanterns, cherry blossom, and bamboo trees placed in the middle of the restaurant. It almost felt like I was dining at a high end restaurant. It's significantly smaller than the other location, but the high ceilings give it a spacious atmosphere. There are plenty tables and booths. Be aware the booths do move easily when you get out of your seat. We were sat in the booth closest to their entrance which I didn't mind at first, but after a while the high foot traffic was distracting (maybe they could place a divider between the waiting area and the booth). Onto the food, pricing, and service: portion is generous and they are more affordable than the Rowland Height's location. I ordered the Bbq Chicken Fried Rice. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was easy to take off the bone. The fried rice was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my plate (even though I wanted to) so I boxed the rest to take home. My husband got the Continental Fried Rice. A dish Banana Bay is well-known for. The chicken skin was crispy, the fried egg was yolky in the center, the sausages were soft, and the fried rice was consistent with my plate's. Service was great and the staff was attentive even during their peak hours. I gained a sense of relief when more than one waitress checked in on us periodically. Overall, my husband and I had a great first impression. We're already talking about coming back in the near future. If you're looking for a Thai spot where you can order a plateful of food at an affordable price, this one is it!

I can't not complain about the food, the food is amazing and cooked perfect. The one huge thing…read morethat made this whole experience extremely horrible and unforgettable was the service, or lack of service for better explanation. And I have strongly feeling, we were discriminated because we were not of Asian ethnicity and because we were Latino. When we sat down it took them about 20 minutes to receive the menus, and another 20 to get water while at the same time every other table was being tended to multiple times. When I would raise my hand for service the "employees" who worked there would just look at me with my raised hand and continue to ignore me. When we ordered our food after almost 30 minutes of just sitting there, this Asian woman who refused to give me her name , came to our table and just took the chili sauce tray from our table and said "I'm going to use this for the other table since you guys don't have food, and I'll bring you one later." I said that was fine since we were still waiting on our food. 20 minutes later passed, and our food comes out. I asked the nice Asian gentleman who brought our food if I can get forks and spoons, since he didn't bring any to us. And he completely ignored me and walked away. So we had to sit there with our food with no utensils and no chili tray. I tried to get the attention of the Asian woman who took our chili tray so we can get one since our food arrived and the same Asian women server completely ignored me the whole time and only attended to her side of the restaurant. I don't understand the whole lack of customer service to people who clearly are not Asian, the ambiance felt off and you could totally feel the discrimination and different kind of treatment received. So after 10 minutes of just waiting for our utensils or for someone to come approach me after I've been flagging them down with my hands, I had to get up and go to the front desk and asked if someone could help us cause everyone is ignoring us. When I said that to the young lady at the front desk, she had someone come out immediately to finally give us utensils and our chili that was removed from our table. Not even 10 minutes after we started eating. A different asian woman waiter, who was not our waiter from earlier approached us and asked us "if you guys need to order more food do it it now cause we are about to close and needs to be ordered to go." I find it ironic that she only came to us to let us know that they were closing soon, but the other patrons who obviously were of Asian orientation were left alone. They brought us our check while we were still eating. It was obvious that they were rushing us out after the dreadful, abysmal, subpar service we received. Never have I been treated differently from the rest of the patrons in a restaurant, and I find it sad because I've been going to Banana Bay in Rowland Heights since 2010 and have NEVER received this kind of service. This will be my last time I support this restaurant and anyone who is Latino or any other different race for that matter, be warned.

It's flavorful and Ong Choy is nice and crunchy. Definitely a great vegetable selection. Pad Thai: the sauce is way too heavy and sweet. We didn't enjoy this as much as we thought we would. The first taste was good, but the more you have the saltier/sweeter it gets. The lime juice didn't lighten things up either. Don't really recommend it. Crab fried rice: there's a good amount of crab and egg in this dish. The rice is on the softer side, it's not dry and hard like most fried rice. We still enjoy it, the texture of the rice didn't kill the flavor of it. The flavor is very balanced, but quite oily. Tom yum seafood soup: There's a good amount of seafood in this soup. The flavor (sweet and sour) is well balanced. Sweet rice with mango: A great dessert option to finish the meal. It is not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but the coconut is not distinctly sweet and overwhelming (so I was able to have some). The sweet rice is chewy and warm when served. And the mango is perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely recommend it. The service was outstanding! The restaurant decoration is very traditional and unique. They are quite busy when we arrived on a Sunday night. I would give this place an overall 3.5/5 because they can definitely work on some of the dishes.
