Located at the Source mall in Buena Park, Basilur Tea & Coffee is tucked into a corner on the first level. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch with my friends, and it was quite hard to find indoor seating. We ended up sitting at one of the tables they had set up outside, which ended up being the better option; it gets quite loud in the actual cafe. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which featured two small, soufflé style pancakes that were each topped with a hearty helping of lox and a generous smearing of mashed avocado. At the very tops of these perched two poached eggs drizzled heavily with hollandaise sauce. An accompanying green salad with cherry tomatoes and a bright vinaigrette also shared the plate. My friend ordered a café latte, and when we compared our two drinks, there didn't seem to be an obvious difference, which made me think that the staff had gotten one of our drink orders wrong. I enjoyed it well enough, but I couldn't help wondering whether it was supposed to taste the way it did. I did not enjoy the smoked salmon eggs benedict very much, as I found the soufflé pancakes too sweet and distracting. I appreciated the creativity, but I found that it made the dish taste much too rich in comparison to an eggs benedict served on an English muffin. The pancakes were too insubstantial to hold up against the hollandaise sauce and runny egg yolks, and practically disintegrated. I did enjoy the salad, which I found was a nice, fresh, acidy respite from the overpowering richness of the eggs benedict. I will likely return with my friends to try their other offerings, such as the dessert-style soufflé pancakes. Basilur Tea & Coffee seems to specialize in soufflé pancakes, and I'd like to experience it as intended -- as the star of the dish, and not merely an ill-fitting supporting role. read more

This little hidden brunch spot on the first floor of the Source is one of the cutest places ever! Located next to the Old Ferry Donut shop, it may be a little hard to find if you are not completely familiar with the place. The environment of the store really makes it feel like you are teleported to Paris. There are many people chatting and studying, it is almost like a cafe that is leveled up to also be a restaurant. I really appreciate and like the causal-ness of it, where people are comfortable just enough to chill and lounge. As for the food, I definitely have to come back and try their pancake soufflé/egg benedict . They had such a wide range of variety, but I unfortunately had already ate. They also seem to specialize is afternoon tea, which not many places have anymore. I must tell my girlies to come pay a visit with me to participate. I did end up getting was their Raspberry & Rosehip Milk Tea, and LET ME TELL YOU... It was so unique and flavorful. You can taste both the raspberry and rose, but they mesh so well together - creamy and refreshing. To date, this is the worst tea place that I have ever visited. Personally, I feel like I was catfished. Why? The images online show the cafe as clean, classy and modern; yet, the images couldn't have been farther from the truth. This place was dirty, run down and the furniture was a safety hazard (specifically their faux marble/quartz tables that had major cracks in them). The velvet seats were ripping in several spots and there were crumbs all over. This was a bad case of mind trickery and I won't subject myself to something like this again. Upon ordering, I couldn't help but notice how little the worker knew about their menu. When I asked certain questions, the female at the counter just shook her head and nodded. She provided no useful insight to my questions about the coffee and/or macaroons on the tea platter. After receiving little to no information on the menu, we decided to order (2) iced coffees, both of which were way too sugary. You might as well have been drinking sugar water with a straw. (Just as a side note, you do not need to drive to Buena Park to make your own sugar water. You can make a pitcher at home for half the cost.) We also made the mistake of ordering a tea platter and earl grey tea. I have to say that the tea experience was very unusual. Why? Typically when you order tea with a high tea menu, you are given a tea pot with two cups and saucers. In our case, we were brought a venti sized paper tea cup with a tea bag (not even loose tea). With that said, the tea was mediocre and that's only because it's very hard to screw up any kind of tea. Apart from the mediocre tea, the caliber of food was universally crap. I'm not leaving it open to question either. It was pure crap disguised as a high tea and offered at an exaggerated price. I only ate a half of a macaroon and couldn't have been more disappointed. The absolute worst part of the platter was the scone that was clearly old and stale (and not even "scone"...more like a really stale muffin). The food also took a very long time to get to our table, which was confusing because the cafe had about 12 people inside all of which already received their orders. So glad I finally made the trip to try out their souffle pancakes. They're a cute tea/dessert shop located at The Source. I love the aesthetic of this cafe! They don't get nearly as much business as they should, in my opinion. They're mostly known for their souffle pancakes (which are heavenly) and their afternoon teas (which I have yet to try). This was my second visit and it did not disappoint from my first. I shared some custard souffle pancakes with my family and I still can't wrap my head around how perfectly sweet and light their whipped cream is. It blankets the pancakes so you have just the right amount in every bite! My sister had a rose hip and raspberry milk tea, which we do not recommend. The raspberry does not compliment the rose very well. If it was just a rose milk tea it would've been perfect. It's a also a great place to meet with friends because the top floor is basically one giant outdoor dining. This place is just super! Inside the Source on the first floor... just a short drive away from Knott's berry farm. All the food was delicious and I have not seen the kids so excited to try everything. The decor is a Harry Potter modern twist with lots of books lining the shelves. I discovered this place during the COVID pandemic and I'm a little sad because I really want to be able to dine in! The interior is utterly gorgeous and appeals to the book-lover in me. It feels like a mini, super scaled down version of what I imagine Belle's library/tea room would be like. It's very elegant with a regal feel to it. I want to have a tea party here! Ordered a Earl Grey and Peach Apricot Tea, I guess with a nice fake decor I was at least expecting a REAL Tea house. It came with two take out cup and two tea bad each inside. That would've still been fine if the Tea has good flavor, but the tea bad tastes like a 2nd hand tea bad as there are watery (even with two tea bats each for each cup). The Tiramisu Soufflé Pancake were both powdery and raw. The soufflé typical soft moist and almost runny consistency was missing. The sad tiramisu "sauce" is no tiramisu at all, it's a chocolate blob with coffee powder sprinkled on top. Then again the worst offender was the price of it all two cup of Lipton tea bad plus a microwave soufflé package costs me about $30. If the food was authentic and the tea is real Tea, I would still has been happy to spend the money, but this sad fake food made me felt I was robbed. read more

The hollandaise sauce is not greasy like other places I've tried, and the salad well balances it with the balsamic vinegarette. The poached eggs were well cooked! So much better priced than the fruit soufflé pancake. 5/5 Croissant sandwich: Meh. It was just a croissant sandwich that wasn't anything special. But this was the WORST because of the service. Our pancakes came out faster than this sandwich by 30 minutes. I don't know why this took so long to get out when it just had turkey, tomatoes (cut as if a toddler tried cutting tomatoes for the 1st time), lettuce, pesto, and cheese. I couldn't really taste the pesto (I didn't even know there was pesto until I reread the menu). The avocado was under-seasoned, it could have used some salt. My micro greens still has some dirt on it too :( Overall I definitely wouldn't get this again since I think it could be easily be made at home and definitely isn't worth the price. * Caramel Banana Soufflé Pancakes ($13.95): original soufflé pancakes with homemade whip cream, banana, and caramel syrup. I definitely liked their soufflé pancake! The pancake was super fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. And the presentation was beautiful. What I didn't like was that the bananas were just sliced up and were cold and I wish they would've have been caramelized instead cause I think that would have complemented the pancakes more. However, all we can say is that the flavors weren't really there. The matcha didn't taste like matcha at all, just sweet green cream. And the tiramisu tasted like chocolate. There is free parking in the structure at the Source. Went on a Wednesday for a group lunch. The place was very busy and they only had two people working the front and the kitchen. They were very transparent about imbeing short staffed and worked soo hard that despite giving an overestimate of how long it was going to take to get our drinks and food, they actually beat their estimate md time and were actually quite timely. Shout out to that team! Also customer service was amazing and that really gets a 10/10. They served a drink incorrectly; I took a sip assuming it was really my drink. They corrected the error by making me the drink I actually ordered and remade the drink they gave me for the correct patron. Awesome!! I enjoyed my souffle pancake. It was light and fruity. Would def come again. I spilled my ube latte outside before i entered my car so I can't speak to that. Had a sip of a coconut one which was delicious. I knocked down a star only because it felt a little sticky. Again the staff did amazing with what they had and definitely prioritized service first but I think that was at the slight cost of cleanliness. Great place for a date. The atmosphere here is amazing. The decorations are lovely and it feels very cozy. Service was a lacking for sure though. When I had came in I was a bit lost and the staff at the front was just standing there. Some items that I ordered was missed and I had to remind them. The food was alright, nothing that blew my mind. The fluffy pancakes were very nice. Slightly sweet, and super fluffy. Definitely a bit expensive at around $14 for two fluffy pancakes that are pretty small. The eggs Benedict were very nice with the fluffy pancake instead of the usual English muffin. This place is definitely worth a try if you never had soufflés pancakes. Overall for myself I probably won't be coming back here. read more

Loved this little spot tucked in the plaza. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The cashier was super friendly and helpful in what tea I was looking for. Came here for lunch with a friend and so glad we did. We ordered the matcha souffle pancake it was so light and airy and absolutely melts in your mouth. We were expecting a super eggy taste but that wasn't the case at all. The matcha cream was velvety and decadent. Every mouthful was better than the last. We also ordered the egg Benedicts, I had the Florentine which was really good, they made it with a twist. Instead of the traditional English muffin they made their own little egg souffle which I thought gave it a lighter feeling. I didn't feel all carbed up after my meal which is always a plus. My friend order e the lox egg Benedict and she loved it too. I mean we both finished everything. Would definitely recommend coming here for a cute little brunch date. my friends and i came for breakfast and it was really good! i got the salmon lox, my friends got the fluffy soufflé pancake eggs benedict, and 2 orders of their pancakes (i think) idk what the pancakes are called hehe the food was rly tasty, the portions were pretty big imo, service was quick and our server was really kind when we took forever to order teehee the vibes are cute and clean. i like that it's a cute spot for dates and hanging out i definitely wanna try some new dishes the next time i come tho read more

I've been to basilur a few times and it's always been a great time. This past visit, my sister wanted to have afternoon tea but we were told the store hadn't received the new shipment of desserts. We were disappointed but we still had tea and pancakes. The fluffy pancakes are one of our favorites so we weren't so upset. We'd still come back again! read more

I loved this place and then they got rid of both of my favorite items from the menu. They got rid of "The favorite" and the matcha souffle pancake. The staff used to be not professional but now they wear really casual wear. The cashier had slippers on and wasn't as friendly as the old staff. I personally think their drinks and food are just ok. I came once for brunch and once for just drinks. Both times my experience was mediocre. If you want to visit just for the aesthetics, it might be worth to try once but I'm not sure I would choose this brunch place over others in the area! read more
