When is it ever a bad time for ice cream? I was craving something fresh and sweet - thankfully, BR was just a few blocks down! Coming into this Baskin Robbins, a wave of childhood memories flooded over. You can smell the fresh ice cream, waffle cones, and cakes! Yum! Since it had been a bit since I was at Baskin Robbins, I was eager to see what was new! For one, the cakes have taken it to the next level. The grill and pancake cakes? And there's icecream inside? Sign me up! I couldn't believe they created these in house with as much detail as possible. They also have a Tiger milk tea with boba! Although they had a lot of new things up their sleeves, the classics remain. Good ol' fashioned scooped ice cream! I'm typically an almond fudge person, but I wanted to try one of their new flavors. I had taste tested (yes, it's back!) Ube coconut (7/10 - I'm not a coconut fan so this could be biased) and the matcha latte (9/10). The matcha latte ended up wining my heart! It was the perfect combination of creamy and bitter since it's paired with a vanilla ice cream. In my party, a cake batter and gummy bear ice cream was also ordered! They provide the toppings in a ketchup sized container for easy pouring and to avoid allergies - isn't that cool? Overall, this was such a sweet and positive experience! No good non dairy choices. Not sure if corporate gives them what to sell or if the manager has any say but my daughter can't have dairy and whenever we go there they only have 1 or 2 dairy free ice creams or a sorbet. She's 6 and the flavors are like a lemon ice cream or daiquiri ice cream or a sorbet. Thing she will never eat as she wants cookies n cream or rocky road kind of fun ice cream. It's terrible because a year ago they had multiple dairy free ice cream and we would go every Sunday for a dad and daughter afternoon as a reward for good behavior. We can no longer go. Often I come in to see if anything has changed and it's always the same. Now we have to buy non dairy ice cream pints from Nob Hill and eat at home but that is not as fun as doing the baskin Robbins experience. If the manager has any say in this I hope he/she gets more dairy free options or at least mentions to corporate that need to make more options. 3 stars simply because of this issue. The store is clean the staff is nice but the fact that they essentially give lactose customers disgusting flavors as a choice upsets me more than my 6 year old daughter because she has to no longer experience the daddy daughter afternoon rewards anymore. read more

It is not a bad place to go to especially during the hot summer days. My dad and I happened upon this place while we were waiting on another appointment. The service was good and the ice cream was as you would expect. I was a little concerned that the worker was not using gloves nor did they wash their hands before handling our food where there is a sink clearly right next to them. However, with all the changes that are happening in the world, I would not be surprised if it is no longer necessary to wash your hands. The worker was also not dressed professionally or properly for their role. It look like they had just woken up from a nap in the back room. This has very little to do with the quality of the ice cream, but it does say something about the establishment and how things are allowed to be run. Worse experience that we have ever had. YOU WOULD NEVER WANT TO ORDER A CAKE FROM THIS STORE NOW UNDER A NEW OWNER. We ordered a dolphin design BIRTHDAY cake that is supposed to say Happy Birthday on the cake. My husband picked up the cake. When he got home, I saw that they gave us a totally different cake (I am sorry for the customer whose cake got sent to us and who probably wouldn't know about this!). My husband then went back to return the wrong cake and pick up "our" cake. The second time in a row they gave us a wrong cake. When my husband got home, we saw that this time it IS a dolphin cake, but the cake says "Merry Christmas". I called the store and turned out that this is a cake for someone else!!! I am so sorry for the other customer who would no longer have his/her Christmas Cake (and I wondered if they just got the wording wrong for the other customer, as it is AUGUST.) Beyond furious about what happened, and the owner didn't show any sincere sorry for this mess-up. I asked that they deliver the right cake to us and she said no. She said well there is nothing we can do and said "ou, you don't have to bring back the cake" and made it sound like this is a favor that she is giving us...Come on. My kids don't want to eat the cake at all as it is all the wrong flavor!!! As I was typing the above, the store called and said that they are willing to give me the refund and ask that we bring back the wrong cake (what?) They said that in order to get the refund, we need to go into the store!! I frankly couldn't believe what I heard when they said this. Would recommend anyone avoid this store (and the Saratoga one which belongs to the same owner). I have been going to Baskin Robbins in this area my whole life (50 years). I used to love going into the store as a little girl and ordering my mint chocolate chip on top and jamoca almond fudge on the bottom on a sugar cone. The scoops were NEVER weighed. They were big and so cold that they had an "al dente" bite to them when you bit into one of them. Well this store here is NOTHING like the 31 Flavors of yore. My experiences here have been horrible. I kept giving them chances and have never been happy with any of my visits. The Jamoca Almond Fudge scoops are always smaller than any other store's, it tastes old and it's never hard enough. You know the texture of partially melted / super soft ice cream? It's a completely different product. I think it's kept on the softer side so the older indian woman has an easier time scooping it. I also ordered a hot fudge sundae once and was shocked to find out that they don't use real hot fudge. The indian lady tried to tell me it was hot fudge but it was just warm chocolate sauce. I've been eating hot fudge sundaes from Baskin Robbins for 50 years. I know what their hot fudge tastes like. Of course the chocolate sauce is cheaper than fudge sauce so of course they're going to serve that instead. And lie about it. I don't get why Baskin Robbins allows these owners to continue in the business of denigrating the Baskin Robbins brand name and reputation. These owners are cheap, they lie, and don't have the first clue about "customer service." If you want the kind of service you remember as a kid (read: big scoops of cold, fresh ice cream, and friendly service) go to the one on Pollard Road or the one on Campbell Ave. Both of these establishments are worth driving the extra miles for. Friendly, American-size servings of really cold and really good ice cream. Just like I remember. read more

We came here after dinner last night. We have been here before and have not had great experiences, but thought we would give it another try. Again, we were disappointed, but this time, it was especially bad. First off, it was Friday night around 7pm and it was empty.....hmmmm. We got two hot fudge sundaes, the ice cream tasted old (you know how it gets those frozen crystals on top and gets a weird texture.,,,the servings (or scoops) were tiny......and the chopped nuts were stale, and by stale, i mean tasted old and were chewy. $11.00 for two, two scoop sundaes that tasted kind of gross. read more

It's pretty hard to run an ice cream store and not make people happy just sort of by default. I guess if you're not into that, perhaps ice cream store ownership is not for you. Not sure why I wasted my time here after all the bad reviews. I went last week and sent my teenage son to order me a scoop of ice cream but my ice cream came with hair! A big long hair WRAPPED around the scoop of ice cream to be exact. Seriously gross! I marched back in to let them know. There were 2 women working. A young blonde girl, and an older Indian women. The young girl asked me what was wrong with my ice cream when I pointed to the hair. Even she was grossed out! The older woman offered me another scoop but my guess is the hair was hers since her LONG, BLACK hair was just hanging down under that hat. Aren't they supposed to tie back their hair? UgH! Having avoided this location for several years now, I reluctantly went back today to take advantage of the $2 for 2 scoop deal today that they were promoting. I knew they had changed management/ownership, so I thought I'd give it another shot. We were greeted by 2 employees who immediately asked to help us and I was happy to see everything was CLEAN and didn't have a weird smell that I always noticed on previous visits. There were tons of new flavors and my kids had a hard time trying to decide what to get. I love how BR now lists the ingredients in each flavor, so my daughter can identify which flavors are nut free on her own since she's allergic to nuts. Will definitely come back and hopefully they do more promotions so that they can continue to get the word out that this is a great new re-addition to the neighborhood!! read more
