The one girl working was nice and she let me sample the two flavors I wanted to try. My go to has always been Jamoca Almond Fudge. It tasted ok but you can tell the quality at 'bougie' places such as Salt & Straw has better quality cream. This Baskin Robins location is fantastic, when the good employees are working. I've been coming here for years. However, there's some new guy that has glasses and always wears a B&R visor cap, who gives out totally weak, small scoops. His scoops take like 2 seconds, and he doesn't pack the scoop at all, so there's all this empty space inside the scoop. I've gone there twice now and when he's working, I don't get anything and walk away or just get a shake from him. But the Asian girls that work there, absolutely rock. They pack the scoops, and they are generously sized. I always give them a 2-buck tip. I always get 3 scoops, and at 11 dollars, I am happy when the small Asian chick is there. But for that price, you'll be disappointed if that new guy is there, and you'll feel ripped off. I live in Solana Beach, and this is a big reason why the B&R location here went out of business. I've been to many different locations of Baskin-Robbin's, and I had a pretty great experience today at this place! The restaurant was clean, and the staff were quite nice. However, the main event was certainly the ice cream! I ordered a cup containing both their mint chocolate chip, and chocolate chip cheesecake flavors, and it was great. The mint chip had good flavor, despite lackluster texture, while the chocolate chip cheesecake flavor was to die for. It was probably one of the best ice cream flavors I have ever had! This will probably be my last visit to this location. It's a 2 minute drive from our house and we are in the Mira Mesa Village shopping center regularly...but I would much rather take the extra drive to Handles in Del Mar. I visited last night to take advantage of my birthday "free scoop" offer. When you walk in, the place smells great. Maybe because they were making waffle cones. But that is the highlight of this visit. The store itself is a hot mess. I visited at about 6pm, there were 4 employees working when we walked in. There are only a few tables and chairs to sit at..ALL of them extremely filthy. I almost walked out, but I was already committed. Myself and my family ordered. The lady helping us was a young girl that really had no customer service skills. I honestly felt like I was bothering her when I gave her our order. She made all of my kids ice cream in cups...ok no problem. Then I placed my order for a double scoop in a waffle cone. She went to grab my waffle cone with no gloves on...she grabbed the cone with her bare hand and then put it inside of a cone sleeve. I asked her if she could give me a cone that she had not touched. She did and then proceeded to make my ice cream. I ordered a double scoop of "Mom's making cookies", what was strange is that the top of the ice cream looked liked it was already melting inside the chill box. The lady took one scoop and it was all melted. She scooped the melted ice cream away and did not put that scoop in my cone. I was thankful. She dug deeper into the ice cream to scoop ice cream that I thought was more frozen. She handed my cone to me, and within seconds I had the bottom of the cone dripping. I had to hold several napkins in my hand to get through the experience. Of course with how filthy the store was, we opted to just stand outside and eat our ice cream. I was here 3 weeks ago to pick up gift cards for Teacher Appreciation Day. The employee took 20 minutes to figure out how to ring me up for a gift card. I purchased 9 gift cards. Brought the kiddos in here for dessert after dinner and a few softball games. The a/c was not working in the place. The ice cream was melting in the containers in the freezers. There was one large fan, blowing on the poor crew member who was working her backside off. It was miserably hot inside. I walked in looking for an Oreo Cookies and Cream Cake for my son's birthday. I had already called the Carmel Mountain location and they were out. Unfortunately, this location was also out. The difference is the employee here offered me the Polar Pizza. She said she could make it and I could come back and get it later. I didn't know what it was and she explained that it was a brownie crust topped with Oreo ice cream, drizzled with chocolate and Oreos. I asked her to leave off the marshmallow topping. There's nothing wrong with a nice scoop of ice cream every once in a while. I stopped in after lunch nearby and had the flavor of the month which was "Tiramisu." I had a it scooped in one of their small containers. The tiramisu ice cream was quite good, and yes it did taste like, including the espresso flavor. It was very cream with but intermixed with chunks of goodness via the tiramisu's ingredients. It even tasted as if there were a touch of brandy or cognac, but I'm sure there wasn't. The pistachio almond ice cream was nice because the almonds gave that similar pistachio texture and the flavors of the almonds and the ice cream went well together. I have not been to baskin robbins in a while! I like their rebranding and the expansion in the menu. I came here with my friend to get her free birthday gift. I remember my go to flavors used to be wild n reckless and cotton candy, but that was a long time ago when I was young. We got the golden ribbon which is basically half vanilla and half chocolate with drizzles of carmel. For the free birthday, we got a kids scoop. I went to this location to purchase a birthday ice cream cake... The cake was $45 plus lettering plus two more pints of daiquiri ice... I was easily going to spend 50 to 60 plus dollars during this visit... I would have appreciated some out-of-the-box thinking and much better customer service considering I was about to spend 50 to $60 at your establishment.. Nothing too exciting about this Baskin Robbins other than the staff was very friendly and very eager to help. A few of my friends and I went here to grab a scoop or two of ice cream. The staff immediately greeted us and told us that if we had any questions to let them know. There were quite a few customers in the store but it seemed like no one was ready to order so we just stood around looking at the many flavors that they have. When we finally chose the flavors we wanted, we were quickly greeted by one of the three staff members. They got our orders down and we paid immediately. Just FYI - if your total is under $5, you have to pay with cash. In addition, if you need them to rinse the ice cream scoop because someone has a nut allergy, just let them know and they'll gladly do it. I think that was the main reason to why I gave this place 4 stars; it's because they listened and they didn't give the customer a hard time about her request. In any case, we got the fan favorite of jamoca almond fudge and as always, it was really good. A few more things, there's plenty of parking and the menu has a few good options like waffle cones, cookies, brownies (I think) and donuts. It's a pretty good menu with lots of options. What better way to kick off a weekend is to have a sweet treat! After a small dinner next door, we decided to grab BR vs. Yogurtland. (They're in the same strip mall - go figure!) I was actually looking for the mint special, but I guess it was only for holiday. The current special was for a 2 scoop, you get a free waffle cone. There was no way I could have done a 2 scoop, but the fiancee did. The customer service was friendly and very helpful. The guy behind the counter gave me multiple samples of the ice cream flavors. I decided on the chocolate peanut butter. Chocolate ice cream with large peanut butter chunks. MMMM a girls dream come true!!! My scoop with a sugar cone was $2.50. There 4-5 tables with enough seating for about 20. They serve ice cream cakes and I believe can custom order cakes in advance.
