A nice little Baskin-Robbins tucked onto the side of a 7-eleven. Who knew? We were looking for some ice cream to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and decided to try this Baskin-Robbins location. And I'm glad we did (we've had less luck at some other locations). It's tucked against a 7-eleven and shares a parking lot (more on this later). The server was extremely friendly and patient with my 4yo and 2yo wanting to try all of the different flavors, and had great service overall. The interior was clean, if not a little work down, but still nice. It wasn't too busy when we were there (right after dinner). They also sell ice cream cakes, sandwiches, milkshakes, and pints of ice cream. So why four stars instead of five? It really comes down to the location and the parking lot. You'd think this would be a great location, and in some respects it is, but being so close to the freeway and the intersection it's a little difficult to get into the lot. It would be super easy if you were coming from the East, which unfortunately we weren't. The other reason was the parking lot itself. The parking lot was very busy (shared with 7-eleven) and also smelled terrible. Like toilet terrible. I understand this isn't the business's fault exactly. But it isn't nice to have to walk through a toilet smell both into and out of getting ice cream. read more

One banana Royale had no bananas and one cherry. Brought back the now melted old banana Royale. Extra round trip was a hassle. The chubby guy who screwed up the first one had a bad attitude. My order for a mud pie was placed over the phone with Shawn on 6/21, who was very pleasant. I specifically asked for customization on the pie and spelled the name out calling attention to the capital A in JoAnne and I was assured everything would be done accordingly. On 6/22 around 3pm, I called the store to confirm I would be picking up the pie later that evening and checked with the woman on the phone to verify the closing time. When my husband and I came in to pick up the pie in the evening, there was only one other customer in the store. A female employee was taking this customer's sundae order and the male employee was separately filling ice cream into large pan/container. Both looked at us but there was no greeting of any kind. Then, 3 minutes later, another customer walked in behind us. After another minute passes by, the male employee stops what he was working on and has a brief verbal exchange with this customer but then returns to continue filling his containers with his back towards us. Meanwhile, the female employee had put nuts all over on the sundae she is still serving even though even I had heard her customer state "no nuts please" twice so she then had to re-serve the sundae. After about 7 minutes, I finally get to ask the female employee to retrieve my mud pie. She proceeded to ring up the register and I asked if I could see the customization. When I saw that the writing was not ON the mud pie but on the cardboard box and mispelled, I asked her to re-do it on the pie. Both employees stated only the designated cake customizer person could perform this task and they were both not qualified. They also stated the writing is ALWAYS on the box and not on the cake. In my 30+ years of ordering a BR cake/pie, the writing is NEVER on the box! The Male employee proceeded to contact Shawn over the phone. My husband asked if they could just give us some yellow frosting in a tube and we can squirt it onto the pie to customize it ourselves but the male employee refused, stating the process is too difficult unless you are the "cake person", who apparently went home for the day already. All the while, my pie is slowly melting on the counter so we just decided to pay the full price $24.99 for pie and leave. No apology or offer of any discount was even mentioned. The female employee did say, it's not her fault, it's the "cake person's" fault. Needless to say, even though we have been patrons for over 9 years purchasing many cakes/mud pies/ice cream pizza, for every birthday and other occasions, we will no longer be coming back to this BR location in Toluca Lake on Riverside Drive ever again. read more

Let me start my review by saying that I am not very much of an ice cream person. However, and whenever I am craving ice cream and have a sweet tooth, this is my to go place, and has been since I was 12 years old. I am in my mid 40's. I really love Baskin Robbins and my other ice cream place is Cold Stone. They are very different, but yet kind of the same. I love the texture, the taste, it is not too sweet. They have variety of delicious, creamy, colorful and tasty flavors. 3 of my favorites are ROCKY ROAD, STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE, AND BATTER. I hardly go here, but when I do...I always get either a regular cup, or a small cone, or a pint and enjoy having my ice cream right there at the parlor. The staff are so nice, helpful and friendly. They let you try as many flavors as you want. Place is cozy, clean and they do have special deals in their refrigerators. Next time when I go, I would like to taste their shakes, mults, and I have tried their ice cream cakes in the past. Best place to get ice cream, better than other places, such as Haagen.Dazs, Ben and Jerry's and other fancy places. The only small complain that I have, is that for the price we pay whether it's for a cup, scoop or a pint....they don't fill it up to the end, unless you tell them. So please give us a generous amount so it can satisfy our palat. Thank you! I don't want to deduct a star just for that, I am sure the management will read this and follow up with my request. They didn't have teen titans in their cake design book, So I created a picture for them to print out onto the cake. I met with the cake designer and told her what I wanted. By the time I pay and get to my car I notice that they gave me half scoops. I come back inside and show the owner who says it's Baskin Robbins who decides the serving size. I threw the sundae out and asked for a receipt. I will be calling corporate and getting a refund. Ouch. My kiddo has a severe nut & egg allergy. This location used to separate the sorbets from the items containing nuts & eggs, as in separated in a protected case. Suddenly they dont anymore. Once I arrived the 3 staff crew was more then helpful to take our orders. My friend ordered the strawberry & almond parfait and I went with my all time 31 flavors favorite the banana royale. Banana pieces in any two scoops of your choice, I went with Oreo Cookie Dough and Cookie Dough, yes Cookie Dough Fest was in full affect, with whip cream, hot fudge, crushed almonds and a cherry on top was truly lovely and delicious Plenty of shared parking with 7-11. Love Baskin-Robbins, but at the Toluca Lake store, my daughter-in-law ordered a strawberry cake to feed 6 for her daughter's birthday. She was told it would be $34.99. She talked to someone at the store and changed it to an Oreo cake, same size to feed 6. The man told her she would have to pick it up at 7:00-7:30pm because they would have to make one that size. She said ok. We went to pick it up at 7:30pm; we had never ordered a cake from them before. They showed us the cake and charged us. The cake was an Oreo cake as ordered. When charged, I realized they charged $44.99. I, the grandma, went to pick it up and pay for it. I complained when they charged me and said my daughter in law was told $34.99. They told me I would have to call Monday to talk to the manager. I called at the beginning of the week, spoke to the manager and told him what happened. He said you ordered that size cake and were charged for it. I explained the conversation my daughter in law had with the other man. He said, oh she called in and changed the size to a bigger cake. I told him she did not and put her on the phone to tell him what happened. While talking to her, he told her that her mother in law called in and changed the size. She told him I never called the store I just paid for it. Then he said the guy must of misunderstood her, which he never does because he never makes mistakes. He also stated they showed us the cake. While it is true that they showed us the cake, I have never bought one there before so I was just checking if it was an Oreo cake. The manager said he couldn't do anything because he would lose too much money. I told him I felt as though it was a "Bait & Switch" situation since we never asked for a bigger cake. The manager then said well we don't make the Oreo cake in the smaller size. Nothing was said to my daughter in law at the time of the order. He offered a $5 gift card to appease me. I declined because of the principal of the situation. I have called corporate at least three times, explained what happened and was told someone would get back to me. It has been almost 1 month and I have yet to receive a call from Baskin Robbins about the situation. Today, the customer is NOT KING! Today, blame the customer for your mistake and keep the profits. WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE YOU MAKE MY ORDER. First thing I see is a young boy with several cherry red spots on his face. Ok, possibly acne. He is at the cash register after he finishes ringing customer up at register, I give him my requested order my "two scoops in a cup" he grabs a fresh cup and places his hands directly on inner part over the rim of the cup and tries to start my order. I ask" aren't you going to wash your hands?" He goes over to sink to wash his hands. He comes back and he grabs the same contaminated cup. I then ask him " could you please give me a fresh cup ?" Saddest thing ever! This part is really sad!! He doesn't grab another fresh cup but he starts off by placing the contaminated cup back in the stack of freshly stacked cups. That's what he did first. I see him grinning and his eyes roll towards me he grabs a fresh cup from an adjacent stack of cups. A old man Looking like it could possibly be his manager standing next to him says nothing about his behavior. I asked the worker for his name. " Alik" he says.
