Went to see the Commodores in concert there, I actually won tickets. First disappointment was no one said we needed to bring chairs ( or pay $5 pet chair - that should be on the ticket- money goes to charity so ok with that). The warm up acts sounded great but when the Commodores came on the base needed to be turned down, this went on for the whole concert- it was bad - I don't understand how this happened. Oh well, we had a great night in spite of everything

We are frequent visitors to Batavia Downs. For many reasons, as I said in my previous review. This last visit was for one of their Friday nite concerts on the racetrack. This one was The Bacon Brothers. Side note, their concerts cost $15, and you get $10 in free play. There's normally a good selection of food trucks/ food stands. Tickets need to be purchased for drinks. You can use them at any other concert if not used the same night. I'm not sure of capacity, but there's everything from picnic tables and chairs you can rent to a VIP seating area or bring your own chair or blanket. Very friendly and helpful employees. 2024-68

Located about 40 mins from Rochester, off NYS thruway exit 48...very close to the exit. The parking lot and entrance are under deep construction. Lots of one way signs, be aware of changing patterns. Opened it n 2005 this smaller gambling place actually has a lot to offer. They say they have almost 850 gaming machines, impressive. Four dining areas, Fortunes, Blue Zone, Clubhouse and Gatsby. Live racing from July through December. Large outside seating area to see the entire track. Hotel on site, with about half the rooms with a track view. Lots of promotions to check out. Make sure to sign up for their players club.

I've never been to the Batavia Downs before,Wasn't sure what to expect... so here's from the start.. Bought tix to see MTB and when I purchased them, I didn't see any opening acts or who they were. It was not clear. Perhaps I wasn't looking in the correct place but it sure was not evident. The parking was plentiful and easy to access. Said doors open at 4pm and they certainly did. Very easy process, there were three lines, everyone moved easily. Plenty of staff to help. Loved the security. Plenty of them! However, the event also said it started at 5pm, it didn't. There was no shaded areas and it was hot hot out. The merchandise vendors, well, their stands were standing but no one to operate them. I'm thinking if the doors open for customers, there should be actual working vendors. The food trucks there, well, they were mehhhhh... so eat before you go. But plenty of alcohol. Too bad I don't drink.... ( maybe I should). Anyways, turned out there wasn't just one opening act, but two. So, for three hours baking in the sun, kinda crappy food, no decent vendors to browse, ( I got bored ) I was ready for the main act. Sun went down, clouds came out, and in the last 45 minutes it rained heavily, but it was still great to see them. All in all, I would go back there, but be more prepared, like calling ahead to see what time the main act starts and show up closer to that time, even if I had to park further away.

Attended a wedding, the abundant staff were really responsive, quick and like service fairies who you barely saw coming and going. The food was delicious, well cooked and a nice presentation. We were gifted $10 vouchers for a lil gamble and there was a band playing downstairs after the wedding dancing ceased.

So much fun for the whole family. We loved placing small bets and everyone being involved in the fun. Kids are limited to certain areas however the indoor and outdoor seating is great. Such a fun afternoon to be had.

There was a Yelp event in Batavia, so my husband and I went early so that we could check out the casino first. I honestly wasn't very excited. I hadn't been here in years, and we did not like it here our first time. They have had a lot of renovations, and it's great now! I was still hesitant in the parking lot, but the inside is much nicer than it looks from the outside. They have lots of the bigger themed digital games, and I loved playing the Friends machine. There's another casino nearby with the Friends game, and it just eats my money! This one I actually won on a few times, I was able to sit and play it for more than 2 minutes without putting tons of money in! That's really all that I'm looking for. I don't need to win a ton of money, but I need some little payouts to at least make it fun and let me keep playing for awhile! We actually both left up, which hasn't happened at a casino in a long time. The trip to Batavia is a little further for us, but it's worth it to be able to win something! This casino isn't as big as some of the others around, but there are plenty of slot machines. I'd definitely go back again.

I came here for dinner at Fortunes and to watch the harness racing and it was a pretty good time! The walk through the casino was pretty short and I didn't notice if they had any tables or just slot machines but overall the place was very clean and every staff member we encountered was beyond friendly! The food at Fortunes was average and I felt they could have provided more food for the cost. And a hotdog at the concessions was $6. Yikes! But overall I did enjoy my experience and look forward to coming back sometime.

Great local small casino. Gaming floor is clean and they are sanitizing between people. Mostly non smoking and there is a room for smoking. Always giving free play and giveaways. Variety of machines and staff is always nice

We recently had a family member get married, and they had their wedding here at Woodsmith Estates…read morein Batavia. Before we received the invitation, I had never heard of this place, so I checked the venue's website for more info. I noticed that their prices for weddings are really fantastic. If you're looking for an affordable but picturesque setting to say: 'I Do," then this place is for you. The ceremony was conducted outside next to a pond, the reception was held in a barn. That whole 'barnyard' aesthetic is huge right now, so I can see this place booking up quickly once more people know about it. There is a fire pit outside, too. The bathrooms are located off the barn, they're in a trailer sort of structure (but they were decorated nicely). While sitting at the firepit in between dinner and the 'first' dances, I happened to get chatting with the lady who owns this place (she was cleaning up the 'ceremony' decor). She said that she opened this place because she wanted to provide a nice place where people can get married affordably. She didn't care about making a big profit. I thought that was nice. She also allows couples to 'help' other couples by sharing tent rentals or donating flowers to other couples. It is all very sweet. And now, I want to address any future brides & grooms who plan on getting married here: please tell your guests ahead of time that they will be walking on uneven terrain and will be either outdoors or in a not-temperature-regulated barn for the duration of the affair, with bathrooms that can only be reached by climbing a few stairs. Please tell them to wear comfortable shoes and to bring an extra layer. Here's what we experienced: A lot of the women wore heels, and they were not expecting to have to park on the grass then walk through more grass to get the the ceremony & barn area. Their heels were sinking into the grass with each step and a lot of them ruined their shoes. There were patches of gravel, too, which the high-heeled women had a hard time navigating. The floor of the barn looked like stamped concrete; pretty, but not very feet-friendly, especially in heels. Anyone wearing heels was miserable. And you know what? That's not the venue's fault - it is the bride & groom's responsibility to let their guests know ahead of time what sort of footwear is most appropriate. Yellow jackets were in full swing because it was an Autumn wedding. Two guests seated near me were allergic to bees & wasps and did not have their Epi-pens because they didn't know that we were all going to be outside. Again: the bride and groom should have let their guests know that they'd be outside. I believe that this venue allows you to 'bring your own food,' whether you DIY it, have a food truck, or hire a caterer. The bride & groom didn't include dinner options on the invitation, when dinner time rolled around we learned that it was a buffet. One guest was allergic to chicken, and that was the only meat available. So that guest just didn't eat.

The morning breakfast was standard for this chain, but evidently their convection oven was broken (that is what the lady working the breakfast area said) and they were having to cook everything by hand, so at times food took a bit to get out. I did have to call for towels since there was none in our room upon arrival. The hostess said they were swamped trying to get all the rooms ready because there was a big concert the day before and the hotel sold out. I wanted to do laundry (since we're half way through our 8 day trip), but I noticed the laundry room was out of order. I asked a lady from room service if there was another self laundry room on a different floor and she said, "No, but give me your laundry and I'll do it for you in our big laundry room." I thought that was extremely nice of her and sure enough it was done later that night when we returned from a ball game. High marks for them for taking care of that for us. Hostesses were nice and despite some issues, this was a good stay for us on our way to Cooperstown.

I was pretty shocked at the price but the clerk said she heard other hotels were charging $1000/ night. I really needed a room so I took it. King suite. One washcloth (there were two of us)!!NO trash can. No Kleenex in the Kleenex box. I don't believe the sheets were clean- found a hair when pulled back. Soap dispenser in shower was not affixed to wall- Just sitting in tub side. Heater made ticking sounds (similar to when you are waiting for a flame to light on a gas stove) every five minutes or so... lasting about a minute. The clerk had told us they had recent renovations. We noticed lots of paint spots all over the bathroom floor. Pool closed due to maintenance. At breakfast- two sets of tongs broke apart when we tried to use them. They only had 5" plates to eat on (kitchen monitor told us "that's all they gave me"). When I used the pancake machine she came out of kitchen and said "oh, is that working?" I said yes. Unfortunately I said it too soon. It spit out one pancake and then stopped working (it was supposed to give two). She was buzzing around and said she needed to clean it up because "corporate is coming today." I'm not one to bitch and get a discount. We were just amused by all of it. For $300 we expected better, but it is what it is. The desk clerk was very nice. We just told her about the room and said they may wish to address those items before someone else comes in. We did notice that she did not apologize or seem surprised by our less than perfect stay. There are many hotels around there. I am an IHG rewards remember so I try to find Holliday inns for my stays. Rewards member or not, I would not stay here again. I would choose one of the others in this location. They share a parking lot with a Hampton inn. Next time, we will try there.
