I'm thrilled to know there is a cupcakery in town that has Gluten Free cupcakes that are actually delicious! I didn't even have to order a mix of GF and regular. They were so good that I just ordered a dozen GF and no one even could tell the difference. They have great flavors, but I'm not certain the GF cookies & cream flavor uses GF cookies in the recipe, so maybe ask first on those if you have a severe reaction to gluten. The cupcakes are beautiful and delicious and can be ordered the day before. read more

I received cupcakes as a surprise birthday gift, and was amazed at how beautiful they were. Even better, they tasted just as good as they looked - the cake was very fluffy and moist, and the icing was delicious. These were definitely some of the best cupcakes I've had! In addition to the human cupcakes, I received adorable dog-friendly cupcakes as well. My dog can have a sensitive stomach, but he vacuumed up his dessert without any problems - and had spent the rest of his day staring at me expectantly, waiting for more. Given how good the human cupcakes were, I am not surprised he loved his cupcakes too! read more

Popped on over to Smallcakes: Cupcakery & Creamery for a dozen cupcakes and loved them! We went with the Lemon Drop, Pink Vanilla, Chocolate Cream, Famous Red Velvet, Caramel Crunch, and Infamous Pumpkin. All were delicious and rich, and they're big enough to split and share. I think next time, I'll opt for the mini's. Smallcakes also serves house made ice cream which they'll gladly let you sample and I was told they simply need a 24 hour notice for custom cakes. Huge PLUS for that! read more

These cupcakes are amazing!! The way to describe the texture is a sort of elevated form of the classic boxed cake mix. Super moist, melt in your mouth (and your hands) texture. The frosting texture is great, I didn't love the cream cheese in the peanut butter flavor (would have preferred a buttercream) but other than that they were all delish. My favorite thing about this cupcake-ry is the many flavors! Each of the flavors I got tasted unique and different from the next. 18 dollars for these four cupcakes, not cheap but not horribly expensive. Will definitely be back! read more

We we're craving for cupcakes and I'm so glad We tried it. I like that its not that sweet we loved all of our orders but not too much with the red velvet. We had cookies and creme, red velvet, peanut buttercream and vanilla. Parking was easy too so pick up was fast. We'll definitely go back and try their ice cream next time.. looks delish! read more

Wow! This place is amazingly good! I've had their cupcakes from various parties before, but never had a chance to visit the store until this past week. It was so good that I came twice within a week lol. Their cupcakes are soooo soft and moist. I can confidently say that they're better than Kara's and Sprinkles. The frosting is a little sweet for me, but then again, I'm not a frosting person. My favorites (so far) are the red velvet and strawberry (the strawberry is only available on Saturdays). The pink vanilla is also really good (and it looks pretty). I'm so happy that we have a cupcake place like this in Danville. I'm drooling as I'm writing this review. ;) read more

I love cupcakes - well, I love all sweets and cupcakes are one of them! I used Doordash to get some cupcakes delivered to my house as a special treat. I think the cupcakes came in a cute box. I was surprised by the height of the cupcake, they are a good size. When I was cutting into it, I expected less but there was more than I expected. So I got to try red velvet, oreo cupcake, caramel crunch and peanut buttercup. They happen to all be chocolate base cupcakes. I think it was very moist and delicious. I enjoyed it. The topping/frosting match the design but for some reason, I was expecting more from my cupcake. I haven't bought cupcakes from pastry shops for awhile but I was hoping the batter would be more unique than just the frosting. Don't get me wrong though - the cupcake was baked well, very moist and delicious but I don't know if I'll come back. read more

I have ordered from Batter 'n icing many times will not again. The first time I door dashed today is a special religious holiday and we were looking forward to dessert. I ordered 6 cupcakes come home to a box full of whatever they had. The have all chocolate only 1 vanilla. When I called they said they ran out so they substituted all chocolate.. how about a call if it is 5 out of the 6 you do not have. Door dash is pricey I would love to have had a choice or a say in what I wanted. I would not trust to get the right order again. No apology and no how can we make it better. read more

What a great add to Danville! We were there for the soft opening on Cinco de Mayo yesterday and were super impressed. First off, the owners are delightful! A very friendly local couple that opened up the store because they love baking and are doing it for all the right reasons. Now onto the goodies... The ice cream is made right there in the back and was amazing. It is ice cream mixed with bits of cupcakes and I got to try the chocolastic and red velvet which were both YUMMY. I also got to try the Margarita cupcake and the chocolate cupcake. They were fantastic! Not too sweet and very fluffy and bursting with flavor. I am coming back for sure! Based on the demand and the fact they sold more than 3x what they expected, Smallcakes is going to do really well and I wish them the very best. See you often! read more

They went above and beyond, adding a birthday pick the cupcakes and a hand written note to wish her a happy birthday. If I could give 0 stars, I 100% would. I used this same bakery for my son's cake back in September and we had no issues. I ordered this cake in person, asking for this buzz lightyear edible image to be wrapped around the entire cake. The person taking my order said it would be no problem. I paid $147 (and added a generous tip) and this HORRIBLE creation is what they gave me. I will never be coming to the bakery again, they absolutely ruined my son's 2nd Birthday cake. read more

Thanks to Smallcakes (just found out you are our neighbors!) for the fantastic cupcake box. We tried four cupcakes--a chocolate cupcake with chocolate and vanilla frosting, a vanilla cupcake with sprinkles, a lemon cupcake, and an Oreo cupcake. All were excellent, with decadent and flavorful frosting and light, tasty cake. Visually they look great, too, and I love the bright pink box. Owned by great people, too, and a local business here in the Danville/San Ramon area. They are open for takeout during Covid-19 and are a great option if you need cupcakes for a (remote) celebration, graduation, etc. Will definitely be coming back and recommending Smallcakes! read more

First off, I was informed by the owner that they've never had complaints about their cake before. I didn't know how to reply to that so here is my cake review. This is my second time ordering a cake at Smallcakes. Unfortunately, I don't have proof of my complaints from my first order last year. Nonetheless, I decided to try again since it seemed minor. One star is for their prompt response time and the business admitted fault, but then the excuses started pouring in and I just lost interest. Sure, I got my money back (which I requested), but was completely upset from the dialogue I had over email with the owner. Initially, I was only offered a 10.00 credit and some free cupcakes. Pictures of dialogue attached. This was my daughter's cake from this past weekend. It's a 8" round cake for 130.00 plus 10.00 ("special filling"). Pictures below. The owner didn't see anything wrong with how the cake was constructed. She said it just lacked filling and that the dome of the cake not being leveled was fine. I've never had a cake like this before from other local bakeries and/or grocery stores. Whether it is a 25.00 or 100.00 cake, the layers always get leveled out. Lastly, the cake was way too sweet. Note: The workers at the front desk who took my order were very detailed, friendly, and called me back immediately as needed. Five stars to them! read more

I've tried the yummy banana (sundays only I think), red velvet cupcakes, and peanut butter cup, and I must say, YUM!! It was hard not buying every single cupcake in the store, so I bought 3 and ate them over a span of 2 day. No regrets. I wish I took pictures, but sorry, too busy eating. I thought the red velvet could use a little bit more chocolate flavor, but I loved how the frosting wasn't too sweet. The banana cupcake had the perfect amount of banana flavor. The peanut butter had a great balance of chocolate and peanut butter. All cupcakes were super moist! Can't wait to try more if I'm ever in the area. I think they have 1-2 special flavors everyday of the week. Each cupcake is $3.50. Stop by if you're grocery shopping next door at Trader Joe's! read more

Holy %*#^, people!!!! This place, this business, has the best cupcakes I think I've ever had in my WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE!!!! I've been to Smallcakes Cupcakery twice so far. My favorite was the lemon drop. It was so tasty and fresh! The frosting was sweet and so was the lemon goodness in the middle. My daughter was celebrating her first birthday and is a Minnie Mouse fan so onto Yelp I went to look for a bakery. I searched and came upon Smallcakes. I found a Minnie cake and cupcakes on their Instagram page that I absolutely adored so I went in and ordered. Found this place leaving TJ's after grocery shopping. They have the cutest pink balloons outside the door that got my attention! The place is small, but has everything you want to fulfill your sweet tooth! Being a sprinkle lover I HAD to get the cupcake with sprinkles. Prettiest cupcake I have ever seen in delicious vanilla flavor I also bought the lavender (seasonal) flavor that they had. It was so delicious! Not over powered with lavender but just a hint. They have many other flavors such as Carmel, different kinds of chocolate and lemon! I can't wait to try them all. They also have specials when you buy a certain amount. I can only speak about the Pupcakes for the Fur Babies in our lives- and to the gluten free folks like myself. I bought 2 Gluten Free cupcakes to test for potentially buying several for my birthday. I couldn't even finish them. They really do not taste good. There is something very artificial about them. I tossed them away. My pup however did enjoy the small pup cakes they make. My friend doordashed some cupcakes from here for my birthday and I was impressed!! I got the seasonal strawberry lemonade, lemon, and chocolate creme. I didn't eat them until the next day, and they were still amazing! Super soft cake, delectable filling and creamy sweet buttercream on top - or more of a ganache in the case of the chocolate one. AMAZING. KIND. GENEROUS. I reached out to Smallcakes in hopes of receiving a donation for a non-profit fundraiser that my husband is the President of. This review is two fold. First, the cupcakes are nothing short of amazing, moist & delicious! Second, they were very generous with their donation and helped our program raise money in the silent auction! It did take some effort (several emails and voice mails). A couple of weeks before the wedding, I wanted to know where/when the flowers from the florist should get delivered so that she can put them on the cake. When I didn't hear back from Negar, I contacted my florist and she responded immediately that I don't need to worry. Negar delivers the cake to the venue, and the flowers are added there. Phew! So my only negative comment is that communications is not great, but persevere because the cake will be worth it! On the day of the wedding, seeing that beautiful cake on the table, it was just what we had imagined. We got great advice from Negar that we should order only enough cake for about 75% of your guests, and sure enough, that was plenty. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it tasted just as good. I recommend sharing a triple scoop because that's cheaper than buying 2 singles. I think gelato at this price is unheard of in the bay area, let alone in Blackhawk/Danville of all places. I mean 4.9 star average is still insane, but I'd expect nothing less than 4.5-4.7 to be honest. I like the pistachio, biscoff, cookies and cream, stracciatella, vanilla, and dubai chocolate flavors. The waffle cone is included in the price so make sure to specifically ask for it, I made the mistake of not specifying and it would be 50 cents on the side (probably due to sharing, the single scoop is $5.99 and the triple scoop is $7.99)
